At the construction site of the new Saratov airport in Saburovka, two webcams have been installed that allow you to monitor the progress of work in real time, the press service of the regional government reports. You can see what is happening on the site at any time at www.vmost.3dn.ru. One of the cameras is aimed at a section of the future runway, the other - at a building materials warehouse and a cement plant. A total of five cameras are planned to be installed at the construction site.

To date, plant soil has been removed from the territory of the airfield, leveling and additional compaction have been carried out over the entire area of the runway, as well as two taxiways. Vegetative soil was removed from 25% of the total area of the airfield apron. A subgrade has been prepared along the entire width of the runway under construction for laying geotextiles, crushed stone and concrete, 900 meters long out of the future 2650 meters. In the near future, subcontractors will begin work on the installation of an airfield fence and the construction of a command and control tower.

"Today, it is very important to ensure control over the quality of materials used in construction and compliance with all technological conditions in the course of work. For this, not only specialized laboratories of the general contractor, OJSC Volgomost, should be involved. The regional government intends to continue to closely monitor the quality of construction work at the most important infrastructure facility for the region," said Yury Moiseev, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government, during a meeting on the implementation of the project.

"A new airport in the Saratov region is probably needed. But the decision to build it near the village of Saburovka looks hasty. The functioning of a large technology center in a picturesque natural area already raises many acute questions." This is how a resident of Saratov, a reader of SarBK and the Focus City website, begins his letter to the editor. We publish this text with slight cuts.

      Location
The airport in the center of Saratov, of course, was a source of noise and harmed the environment. But the airport in Saburovka will be located on the outskirts of the city, because the village of Yubileiny, summer cottage villages along the banks of the Volga and Ust-Kurdyum with Pristanny have practically grown together into one low-rise whole. And in that direction the city is actively developing, most likely, in a few years it will be the territory of densely populated areas. What will we do when the city inevitably hits the already new airport? Transfer again? Or will it do? I see no reason to move the airport from one area of the city to another.

Now I propose to look at the map. In close proximity to the proposed address of the new airport, there are such settlements as Saburovka, Raslovka-1, Ust-Kurdyum, Mergichevka, Kozlovka, Novaya Lipovka, Vyazovka. Planes will fly over their heads and land "right under the windows." A little further we see another ring of settlements: Pristannoye, Long Buerak, Dubki, Kleshchevka, Shumeyka, Malaya Topolevka, Generalskoye, Krasny Yar, Raslovka-2. Probably, the landing trajectory of aircraft will pass over them. There are also camp sites, children's camps, summer cottages, residential cottages. Here is one of the best recreation areas for citizens. The transport accessibility of these sections of the Volga coastal strip makes them unique. Did those who decided to register a new airport in Saburovka think about it? Or did they somehow miraculously learn that everyone who visits the area loves the sound of engines overhead and under the window?

      Ecology
Saburovka is a peninsula, mostly washed by the Volga River. Small rivers flow to the right and left of the proposed airport construction site - Kurdyum and a small river without a name, but both of them flow into the Volgograd reservoir. This means that all kerosene, anti-icing mixtures from the airport will be washed into them and into water bodies. Downstream is the city of Saratov with its most powerful water intake systems and very problematic water purification systems. And don't talk about protection solutions environment, which may and will be in the new aerocomplex. After all, we watched a lot of reports with footage of how, two hundred meters from the airfield, people dig a shallow hole in the ground and the purest aviation kerosene from rotten storage emerges there. These two hundred meters are not here, here are the Volga and the rivers. And that means the water will be poisoned. There will be no fish and birds. By the way, now you can easily see herons and ducks there... People live here, fish and go hunting, relax in camp sites and dachas. Pensioners go to these places for dachas as the only possible form of recreation and life support. Will this continue after the red ribbon is cut in front of the airport building?

      Value

Now the planned territory of the new airport is occupied by agricultural land (at least they were). Water for irrigation is nearby, the place is flat, the land is suitable. So, we are meliorating the Trans-Volga region with titanic and costly efforts, and we want to roll up the lands suitable for agriculture on the banks of the Volga in asphalt? Is it wise to take them out of circulation?

Head of State Vladimir Putin spoke about the need to develop low-rise housing construction. So give these lands to the people! Here are ideal conditions for such housing. Everything is there: water, railways and roads, electricity, gas. If you build a small bridge to Ust-Kurdyum from the cape of the peninsula, it will be wonderful in general, because. there will be a direct access to the Ust-Kurdyum tract. A minimum of costs for people and a lot of amenities.

      Development
It is very convenient to come to a place where almost everything is ready and build a new facility there. What about other territories? After all, it is better to create the infrastructure of a modern airport on desolate and less suitable for housing and agriculture lands, thus developing the territory of the province. Fortunately, there are plenty of flat places in the province (for example, the Trans-Volga region)? Why not plan an airport as far as possible from the Volga, in the steppe, 100 kilometers from the city (as in St. Petersburg, Moscow ...). Now 100 km is just an hour by car on a good road. To spend one hour once a year going on vacation or a few hours for frequent business trips is probably not a very big price against the comfort of Saratov residents? You can build on the border with another province, which also needs a new airport, you can pool funds. Let it be further from the city, but more convenient for residents and safer for the environment. And development in Saburovka on the banks of the Volga will continue without much effort.

      Possibility of social tension
As mentioned above, in the Saburovka area there are camp sites, children's camps, summer cottages, residential cottages, fishermen come here (in winter and summer, by the way). People come here by trains. At the station Raslovka-1 (this is close proximity to the new airport), almost half of the passengers of the train get off. Most of the rest get off at neighboring stations: Vyazovka, 263 km, 262 km, Raslovka-2, Lipovsky, 276 km and 279 km - this is again in the near zone or in close proximity (Vyazovka, 263 km) from the proposed location of the new airport. Great amount citizens come here by car. This means that people run away here from the hustle and bustle of the city to peace and quiet, to a quiet measured life. And now they are being confronted with a fact: "Airport to your dachas and houses, to all this idyll of yours !!!"

Boeing 747 creates a noise level of 106 dB at a distance of 400m from the aircraft. It is on the threshold of pain sensitivity of the human ear. Is it possible to live and relax here? The glide path of such an aircraft during takeoff and landing in terms of the generated noise is a pipe with a diameter of 800 m, at the border of which the noise level is 106 dB. Now draw the take-off trajectory in this area. This is not only a runway, it is also a way to and from the airfield. The airport will already drive people from these lands with one noise.
Or they will have to endure from hopelessness. What do you order them to do?

      Questions to the authorities
Why, when creating something good, it is necessary to spoil the very good? Why is the Volga bank more suitable for an airport than for recreation and people's lives? Why is it planned to give the picturesque chosen territories to a technical facility, and to settle people on lands that are unsuitable for habitation? How will residents of nearby areas and residents of Saratov react to this construction? Why create a reason for the indignation of citizens?

      Scales
Now it is fashionable to weigh everything. Let's weigh all the pros and cons.
On one side of the scale is what we lose. This is the bank of the Volga, camp sites, children's camps, summer cottages, residential cottages. These are favorite places for recreation of Saratov residents. This is a relatively favorable ecological situation of the coastal strip. These are agricultural lands and territories for the construction of low-rise housing. We will lose several billion rubles for the construction of the airport and will spend constantly and a lot on environmental protection and noise control.

On the other cup is what we get. This is an international class airport and all its corresponding advantages.
