In fact, for owners of VKontakte groups, this is a very urgent problem. I confess that I, until recently, considered the impossibility to learn about all the events that take place in groups in a timely manner, a big minus. I even wrote to the technical support of VKontakte, and asked the question:

“When will it be possible to receive notifications about comments in a group?”

I did not receive an answer, but somehow, quite by accident, I found a solution to this problem on the Internet. Yes, I agree that this is not a very convenient way, but for lack of a better one, I consider it the most working today.

You can still see comments in VKontakte groups

In order to receive notifications about comments on posts, videos and photo albums, you need to use two tools.

Overseer "for VKontakte"

The first tool is online service, which provides us with all the information that is not currently available to most group owners, and to which we have become so accustomed to working in other in social networks.

When new comments appear in the group, the Overseer will send a list of existing groups with the number of new comments to the e-mail specified during registration. Everything seems to be fine, but all the information about who left the comment, in which section of the group is not displayed. Therefore, going to the group and browsing again, photos and videos is not the best and most productive activity. Still, it's better to spend this time on more important things.

♦ Tip!

Add to the service not only group addresses, but also all sections in which you have user activity: photos, discussions, videos, products.

If you do not use an additional tool, then the "Vkontakte Overseer" is a completely unpromising tool for you.

VKontakte application "Comments by date added"

Second tool - a completely easy-to-use application in which you need to enter the address of a group, public, photo album page or videos in a small window. After a few seconds/minutes, the page will display a list of comments with a link to the post. Thanks to this application, you can see in which post there is a comment, and calmly and very timely respond to it to the user.

♦ Tip!

This application does not send messages to your e-mail. Just run it after the Overseer announces that there are new comments.

♦ Let me remind you that neither the Overseer nor the VKontakte application are effective without each other. Yes, of course, you can use only one VKontakte application, but this can only be convenient if you have one group. Then you can run the application several times a day to check your group.

And since we all have one common feature that unites us - a small amount of free time, I assure you that enthusiasm will end very quickly.

Important update in the Overseer app

On 03/01/2016, a new convenient feature appeared - you can see which particular post has a comment. To do this, you just need to click on the "Go" button and be on the post page with a comment. Since there are a lot of spam messages in this group, for me new feature is a real salvation. It is very comfortable! Thanks to the developer!

Comment notifications banned?

Until now, I don’t understand why such a popular social network doesn’t make an alert for the owners of groups and publics to make their work at least a little more convenient in this regard?

♦ If we compare VKontakte with its competitors - Google+ and Facebook, then I think that these social networks properly show respect and care for their users - the owners of groups and communities. Agree that with the help of notifications on email, you can always answer the question in time and participate in an important discussion. The speed of response to a comment is directly proportional to the degree of trust of participants in the group.

& I hope that these tools will be very, very useful to you. And, as always, I will ask you to write in the comments what methods you use to see the events of visitors in your groups in time.

Hi all! Recently, the Internet has begun to actively spread various kinds of mailing lists. For example, your e-mail may receive letters with a tempting text about a money transfer from Associated Bank, or a sudden inheritance. Today we will tell you what it is all about and what is the global goal behind such a mailing list.

Is there any danger from these letters?

So, to begin with, we will tell you when and how dangerous these letters can be. Under the guise of such advantageous offers”, “your application is approved”, “transfer from Associated Bank” several types of threats and dangers are distributed:

Never click on links like this! Whether it's a simple casino ad or a tempting Associated Bank transfer that has nothing to do with a real financial institution. These incoming emails are at best spam, at worst contain an embedded virus.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the links, the transition through which leads to identical mail resources, for example, meil.ru, gimail.com, etc. Getting there, a person sees again start page and the need to enter a password. So the personal data of an inattentive user fall into the hands of intruders.

Where do scammers get your address from?

Here is the most interesting. Huge bases of real (working) addresses are sold online. Also, you probably leave your data on other websites (dating, message boards, promotions and other forms of registration). Your email address may also be visible on social networks - close its display in the privacy settings. In case of such a need, it is better to use the secondary box that you specify during registration. It is he who will take all this muddy mailing on himself.

How to remove these incoming emails?

Unfortunately, if your mailbox got into such a database of scammers, then it is unrealistic to remove the flow of such letters. You cannot block by one sender address - they are always different. The only option would be filtering settings in your mail about moving them to Spam.

Thus, all such messages will be sent to the spam folder and not spin before your eyes. I hope you understand what kind of letters about money transfers and inheritances come to your mailbox and how you need to respond to them.

On our WPinCode site, we use the Disqus commenting system. Recently, one of our users asked if it was possible to set up post author notifications for new Disqus comments in WordPress. By default, only users who have been added to the Disqus commenting system as a moderator or administrator will be notified of new comments. However, if you're blogging with multiple authors, then it's probably not a good idea to give each author access to the Disqus account admin. In today's article, we will show you how to notify post authors of new Disqus comments in WordPress.

Before you get started, make sure you have the Disqus commenting system installed on your WordPress site. Also make sure you don't have automatic comment import turned off by visiting the page Comments » Disqus on your website.

Now you need to install and activate the Disqus Notify Post/Page Author plugin. It works out of the box and does not require additional configuration.

Solution of problems

If you just added a test comment and haven't received an email notification, don't panic. It usually takes some time for Disqus to sync the comments into your database. The plugin will only send a notification when the comment is synced and imported into the WordPress database.

Make sure that email address, linked to the author's account - valid. Also don't forget to check your spam folder. If you're using a Google Inbox mailbox, the comment notification may appear in the Updates section.

And finally, make sure your WordPress site can send emails. We have previously written about how to fix this kind of problem in one of the articles.

We hope this article helped you set up author notifications for new Disqus comments in WordPress.

Good day, dear guests and regular readers of the blog. A few posts ago, we talked about the comment settings for the dle engine, but we are studying two cms - this is the wordpress engine and the engine data life engine. Hence the feeling that something is missing. And indeed. We still haven't talked about comment settings for the WordPress engine. Therefore, I propose to proceed with the analysis of this topic. And I’ll make a reservation right away - in WordPress this option is called “discussion settings”, but this does not change the essence.

Why this option is needed, I think it is not necessary to explain. So let's get straight to the topic of this post.

Default article settings divided into three points:

1. Try to alert the blogs mentioned in the article. This feature is designed to alert blogs that you mention in your posts or "dialogues". That is, if you put a link to any blog based on the WordPress engine, then its author will receive a notification that his resource was mentioned on your blog. This option is also called PingBack. The opportunity is quite interesting, as it can contribute to the communication of bloggers.

And notice the message in the fine print that the settings can be applied to individual posts. That is, somewhere you can turn something off or vice versa.

3 days. If you need to close commenting on an article after a certain time, then you need to put a "bird" and indicate in the field - the number of days after which commenting will be prohibited for all visitors to the blog on WordPress.

4. Allow tree-like (nested) comments by depth n levels. Here, you first enable the use of tree messages (the tree is used when replying to a comment).

Secondly, you indicate how deeply the “tree” will be used.

Tree comments in wordpress look like this:

5. Paginate top-level comments by n pieces, displayed by default n

6. At the top of each page should be (early or late) comments. I would advise choosing "latest" so that the most recent ones are displayed at the top of the page.

Send me an email when...

1. Someone left a comment. If someone has left a new blog post (if moderation is not enabled), then a notification will be sent to your inbox.

2. The comment is awaiting review. This function can be used if comments on the resource must be checked by the administrator of the Internet resource before appearing on the page. When used, a notification will be sent to the mailbox about a new "dialog" awaiting verification.

Before the comment.

1. The administrator must check the comment. When enabled, you (the admin) will have to manually check each new post before it appears on the blog.

Comment moderation. I want to note right away that if you use manual check each message, this option will be useless for you.

The first thing you can do here is to specify the number of links in the text of the message, if it is exceeded, the “dialog” will go to manual verification. If set to 1, then when writing a message with more than one link, it will be sent for manual moderation.

The next thing is that we can prescribe the words, when used in a comment, it will also be sent to the moderation queue. At the same time, please note that the search for words is carried out by substring, respectively, when using the word "press", wordpress and other words containing the word "press" will be found.

Black list. Works as described above, only comments will be marked as spam.

Avatars

We have already talked about avatars in one of the previous posts, called: Gravatar - what is it? But it’s still worth setting up the desired display of avatars, so let’s continue.

Avatar display. This option allows you to enable or disable the display of avatars. If you do not plan to display on your blog, then further site setup is not relevant.

Default avatar. Not all visitors have images uploaded to the gravatar service, it is for this reason that the WordPress engine provides standard sets images that will be displayed in the absence of an avatar.

And it was last paragraph wordpress discussion settings. It remains only to save the changes. And wait for the next post about wordpress.

Yes, and if you have not yet created your blog on WordPress, then be sure to study the course of Evgeny Popov on creating professional blog for one day.

Those who leave comments on my site will understand what I'm talking about. After you receive a response to your comment, you will receive an email notification that a response has been received to your comment and all that, unless of course you left your real Email.

Read more on how to do this on your blog.

For example, I am a frequent guest on many blogs and actively communicate on them in the comments. And to keep all the threads of conversations, remembering on which blogs and in which topics the correspondence was conducted is unrealistic. Therefore, if I suddenly commented on someone, you answered me, and I, in turn, did not react in any way - then I apologize, but you yourself are to blame - you had to take care of automatic notification by mail, and at the same time increase the commentability of your articles.

And in this case, so everyone's favorite plugin Subscribe to Comments far from the best option, because it makes it possible to subscribe to all new comments on the article. I don’t know about you, but personally it annoys me to clear up the rubble in the mail (I have to sort through several hundred letters a day), when you subscribe to your head on some commented blog like this) Therefore, I almost never use this function, even though myself and this plugin is worth it.

PS. I was delicately broken off in the comments, reminding that this plugin also has the ability to enable the choice of a subscription option - for all messages or only for replies. However, I didn’t forget about it for a reason, the fact is that I once already tested this feature and thus I didn’t receive email notifications at all. I do not know what was the problem, but I thought that this function does not work normally. By the way, almost no one turns it on or even knows about the existence of such a possibility, so in most cases blogs subscribe only to all comments on the article.

And this is half the trouble - you can say, I signed up, so it’s my own fault, I knew what you were going for, put a tick - rake it now (or didn’t remove it, if it’s checked by default)

But there are also blogs where site owners put this checkbox by default and then simply remove it from the page.

Those. thus, leaving your comment on this site, you automatically become the happy owner of a subscription to all comments on the article (which most of us don’t care, we are primarily interested in our own person) and, in combination, in the mail =)

It’s not good to do this and force such a subscription on people - I’m sure many are annoyed by sudden blockages in the mail. For example, I immediately unsubscribe from such a mailing list, and in the future I will think several times whether it is worth leaving comments on such a blog at all, so that later I don’t bother with unnecessary cleaning of soap.

It should be freedom of choice, at least on the Internet, whoever wants to will sign up, if I want to read other people's comments, I will go and read them on the blog myself. I understand that this is also a marketing technique to increase resource traffic, attract users to discussions, etc. however, it seems to me that the reception is very doubtful and can backfire.

I hope my call will be heard - return the tick, down with coercion!

Comment Reply Notification plugin.

Here it is, “the fish of my dreams”, which, for some reason, few people know about, or know, but do not use. But this is a great way to remind the commentator about your blog, and make him return to as soon as possible, thereby maintaining the thread of the conversation and improving behavioral factors.

It was suggested to me by my comrade in arms and just a good blogger Eugene fishkalife. All the same, I can’t resist and burn - before he also had a forced subscription to comments, which terribly infuriated me. But then he installed this useful plugin, and commenting on his blog became much more pleasant, especially since there is something to comment on =)

The meaning of his work is simple - as soon as you receive a response to your comment, you will receive a notification letter in the mail, and only when the answer to your message personally is called feel the difference with the buggy Subscribe to Comments As a result, the post office is in order, and the mission is completed - the visitor is pleased that they are talking to him and even politely reminding him of this, so that he would not strain once again to keep everything in memory.

I won’t describe the plugin settings in detail, I think they’re not small anymore, they are elementary there - they chose in which cases to inform about the answer, set up the text of the notification letter (it’s desirable to do everything in Russian, of course) and that’s it, enjoy the increased blog commentability) If someone still have problems - write in the comments.

PS: Especially for you, I will briefly write how to translate the line in this plugin that displays the checkbox with a subscription to the answer.

It appears after installing the plugin, go to its settings and enable Commenter choose to do so(default checked) in the settings, if we want to give the visitor the right to choose whether he wants to receive a response to his comment by mail (although here you can safely select “If the answer is from the author of the post or administrator” or “Always inform”)

Under the comment form, the following inscription will appear: “Notify me of follow-up comments via e-mail” which would like to be translated. This is done directly in the plugin file. comment-reply-notification.php.

Just open it in text editor, we find the phrase through the search Notify me of follow-up comments via email and in 2 places we replace it with the one we need, for example " Notify me of a reply to my comment by Email! Close, save, you're done)

By the way, I myself do not have this plugin installed separately, but such a function is built into another - the tree-like comments plugin WordPress Thread Comment- it's like in advertising, 2 in 1, a universal solution for those whose templates do not support the possibility of tree-like comments and who want to set up email reply notifications.

By the way, you probably noticed that even with this plugin, I give a person the right to choose whether he wants to receive notifications by mail.

Although it’s not so scary here, if this opportunity is removed, at least there will be no blockages in the mail for sure.

What plugin do you use to notify your commenters?
