One of the loudest topics of recent times is the return of the Nokia brand by HMD Global. It did not start with a loud press conference at MWC 2017 or even with the announcement of Nokia 6 in China, but with a relatively quiet premiere of the inexpensive push-button phone Nokia 150. It differs little from the phones produced under the Finnish brand by Microsoft Corporation, practically copying one of the latest American models - Nokia 216 (in 150 they only removed the Internet and front camera). Let's figure out what kind of phone it is and whether it can be considered "the same Nokia", and at the same time try to understand who still produces it. Well, we remind you that Nokia 3310 is the same 150, but with the Internet and a 2-megapixel camera.

Equipment and design

Nokia 150 comes in a small rectangular box, inside which is a set of documentation in three languages, Charger with a microUSB cable (5 V, 550 mA), the phone itself and a 1020 mAh battery. The box shows all the existing colors of Nokia 150 - black and white. The sticker on the end says that the phone was manufactured in Vietnam on December 31 (instead of getting ready for the holiday, they assembled phones - it’s even a pity somehow), and the documentation specifies: the manufacturer of the device is Microsoft Mobile (Vietnam).

The indication of this company in the documentation was presented by some Russian sites as news and even a sensation: everyone thought that the Nokia 150 was manufactured by HMD / Foxconn, but it turns out that this is another Microsoft phone! I would like to upset the authors of this sensation: despite its provocative name, Microsoft Mobile (Vietnam) is not part of Microsoft, but of Foxconn. This is the company's Hanoi plant that went to Foxconn along with Microsoft's feature phone division. But the charger - though from Microsoft, apparently, lay in the warehouse for a long time, no one needed it. Sales of push-button Nokias are rapidly falling. Okay, back to the phone.

The Nokia 150 is entirely made of plastic. Made, I will say frankly, not in the best way: the lid bends with a creak and forms almost a millimeter gap with the body in places. Somehow, I didn’t imagine the quality of Nokia, to be honest. If we are already talking about the cover, then we must say what is under it: the battery and the slots blocked by it - one for microSD and two for mini-SIM ("regular" cards). Fortunately, there are no combined trays. Also behind, under the flash, is a speaker, unremarkable in quality and quite sufficient in volume. If you put the phone on its back, the speaker is blocked - no one thought about the protective bumps.

The front panel is divided in a ratio of approximately 7:5 between the screen and the keyboard. The display has a diagonal of 2.4 "and a resolution of 240x320 pixels, more push-button telephone and don't wait. Inexpensive TFT-panel fades under strong slopes, for which it is also pointless to reproach the dialer. The buttons are rubberized, pleasant to the touch, with a clear move. They are not too big, but there is no problem “I press a button - my finger touches the next one”. In addition, the keyboard is island, which is very cool. The five is marked with a pair of tubercles, which facilitates blind typing. There is a backlight. In a word, there are no complaints about the keyboard.

Software

Nokia 150 is the tenth phone based on operating system Series 30+ (previous nine were 108, 220, 225, 130, 215, 105 (2015), 222, 230 and 216). Unlike its predecessors, the Series 30 and Series 40, it was developed outside of Nokia - it was created by the well-known company MediaTek, whose chipsets are used in all these phones. Outwardly, the platform resembles its ancestors, but inside it has nothing in common. So, in Series 30+ there is no support for Java applications, which severely limits the already not very wide possibilities of the phone.

The phone menu is opened with the central key, the joystick gives access to writing SMS (left), flashlight (up), calendar (right) and phone book (down). Left key - "Active" - opens fast access to frequently used functions (their list and order can be changed manually in the "Parameters"). Pressing the end button does not block the phone, as one would expect, but opens a menu of three items: there you can change the volume, turn Bluetooth on and off, and turn off the phone. Well, the left button in this menu really blocks the phone. To unlock it, you need to click on the end, again on the end and then on left button. The hint will be only at the last step, and before that you have to guess yourself.

The strange unlocking mechanism isn't the only thing that puzzles the Nokia 150's interface. Why in many menus (in particular, in "Parameters") the items are located not in each line, but through one, which is why only three of them are placed on the screen? Why is it that when I enter an FM radio that requires headphones to listen to, I am asked to connect an “accessory” without specifying which one? Why does the Flashlight app crash when I turn on the flashlight? Why is it that when you hold the "up" button, the flashlight burns exactly as long as you press the button, but to turn it on all the time you need double pressing? The list of questions can go on.

A separate song is typing. Everything seems to be fine: you can enter in the traditional way, you can - through the T9 dictionary, which can remember the words you enter. But if you try to write in Latin, you may encounter unexpected difficulties: there is no T9 English dictionary in the phone, and you cannot change the layout. There are two ways out - either change the language in the entire phone, or press each button a lot of times to get to the Latin letters (a-b-c-d-2-a-b-c). Thus, to write the word Nokia, you need to make thirty-six clicks.

There are two games in the phone out of the box: Snake Xenzia and Nitro Racing. The first is a traditional snake with a bunch of modes, from classic to campaign. The second is a simple survival game where you have to change lanes in time, and nitro allows you to destroy other cars. I managed to like it before it turned out that this is a trial game that you need to buy, and the “Buy” button consistently gives an error. Try downloading other games? As I said, Series 30+ does not support Java, but it has its own standard - MAUI Runtime Environment, or MRE (.vxp file resolution). The process should be simple (download the game - put it on your phone - open it in the file manager - that's it), but it doesn't work like that, since there is no file manager in Nokia 150. I haven't figured out how to get by without it. By the way, copying a file from a PC is not a problem, with any third-party USB cable (there is none included), the phone is defined as a USB flash drive.

Camera

Nokia 150 is equipped with a camera. This is a 0.3-megapixel module without autofocus, taking pictures with a resolution of 640x480 pixels, which weigh about 40-50 kilobytes. Since the phone does not have an accelerometer, the pictures must be taken vertically, otherwise they will be stored in memory rotated 90 degrees, and you will have to manually rotate each frame. Too bad I didn't know this when I took the pictures. Commenting on their quality is not required - everything is clear. There is a flash.

Nokia 150 can also write video: [email protected] There is a function to pause the recording - I have not seen this even in Android smartphones that I got to test. However, what's the point? Videos with a bitrate of about a hundred kilobytes per second are still impossible to watch.

Performance and autonomy

Unfortunately, HMD is not very talkative about the hardware of the Nokia 150. But it is clear that there is some kind of minimally efficient processor and tiny memory modules. So tiny that the phone, in principle, is not capable of taking pictures on the built-in memory, when you open the camera, you immediately need to insert a memory card (up to 32 GB). The processor is so weak that it only pulls a snake - it is no longer enough for Nitro Racing, and the markings between the stripes lag, ripple.

The battery, as I said, is 1020 mAh. In five days of moderate use, it was discharged by about two-thirds, that is full charge it would take about a week. In standby mode, he would have lived without problems for two, but if you stick for hours in Nitro Racing and Snake Xenzia, then you can put the battery in a couple of days.

conclusions

Nokia 150, it would seem, should be "the same Nokia." After all, it was created by the division of phones bought from Microsoft, which Microsoft itself received from Nokia - that is, the same team that did, for example, Nokia 100, is behind 150. Yes, the corporate identity of Nokia is easily guessed in the phone. recent years, and in general it looks good, but no - this is not the same Nokia. A creaky body, a Chinese platform, and the inability to install Java applications are not what we remember best years Finnish brand. Well, the price of 2290 rubles seems just some kind of nonsense: similar in functionality Alcatel phones, Micromax, DEXP, Vertex often cost almost half as much. You can buy a phone

What does a "gray" phone mean and how to distinguish "white" from "gray"?

"Grey" or "White" ( not to be confused with Chinese fakes) does not affect the quality of the product. "Grey" is considered an apparatus officially produced for the domestic market of country "A", for "unknown" reasons, sold in country "B" (for example, in Russia), i.e. imported into it bypassing the customs and tax authorities - and therefore cheaper (and, as a result, it does not have a Russian layout on the keyboard, or it is "cut" in a handicraft way).
A device legally produced at some German factory, illegally located on the territory of Russia ("gray"), will not work worse from this, but the buyer does not purchase no guarantee and in the event of a breakdown will not be able to contact the SC for free help.(only in the SC of the country for which the device was released). The "gray" phone was originally non-Russified (or again in an artisanal way) - it can be flashed into Russian, but the Russian keyboard (if it is not there) - you will have to buy somewhere separately.

  • how to set time on nokia

For many users, the mobile phone has become great replacement wrist watch. With it, you can always determine the current time. For this reason, for many of them periodic timing is a major problem.

One of the reasons why in mobile it can go astray time, is the power supply of the device from the battery. For example, to replace a SIM card, most phone models require not only, but also to pull out the battery. At a certain time of his absence in phone reset occurs various settings, including time. In some models, the same situation is observed when the memory card is pulled out. Sometimes the battery becomes weak, for example, this can happen when you drop it. In this case, there is also a high probability that the time settings will be wrong. Another option is an old battery that quickly loses its charge. Replacing it will help solve the problem.Other possible cause reset on phone time is not correct setting. To open it, open the menu, then the "Settings" section and select the appropriate item. Note that one of the reasons may also be the legislative cancellation of the transition in Russia to winter time since autumn 2011. In those phones in which it was installed automatic switching between summer and winter times, the transition has been made. Disable this setting so that it does not cause additional problems in the future. Also, updating the firmware of the mobile device may be a solution. If you use a program to synchronize your phone and computer, the reason may lie in the enabled time synchronization option. To make it, run the program, open its settings, find the appropriate item and uncheck it, then save the changes. Some phone models also take time when connected to. Disable this option in your phone settings.

A modern person without a mobile phone feels like without hands: a mobile phone is a calendar, a clock, a means of communication, and a player. Therefore, the correct setting of the phone will allow you to use it as efficiently as possible.

Instruction

Cell phones Nokia is released on three platforms: Series 40, Symbian and Windows phone 7. Which one your machine is based on will determine how you set the date and time on it.

Instruction

On a Series 40 device, first press the one of the sub-screen keys with the word "Menu" displayed above it. If it is not shown above any of them, press the middle joystick button. Find the menu item "Date and time" in the menu structure. Its location depends on the model of the device, for example: "Settings" - "Options" - "General" - "Date and time".

To change the value of any of the input fields, move the pointer over it, and then press the middle button of the joystick. Enter a new value using the keyboard, and then press one of the sub-screen keys that corresponds to saving information (its name depends on the phone model).

If Auto Update Time is set to On, the phone's clock will automatically sync with the clock base station. Despite the cancellation of daylight saving time, some of these stations are still tuned in the old way, so a one-hour error is possible. But the minutes will always be very accurate - so much so that periodic adjustment is not required at all.

For Symbian phones, set the date and time in the same way. The only difference is the way the menu is invoked. Instead of one of the sub-screen keys or the middle button of the joystick, use a separate key for this, which shows a solid circle and a hollow square connected by two arcs.

How to set the date and time in all phones on Windows platform Phone 7, including series Nokia Lumia, unified. First, scroll the desktop to the tab where the "Settings" icon is located. It looks like a white gear on a red background. The menu will appear. Select the item "Date + time" in it. Change the desired settings. To enable or disable automatic synchronization, respectively, check or uncheck the "Installed automatically" box.
