So the satellite dish is mounted on a bracket, and the bracket is rigidly attached to the wall of your house (this was discussed). Now you can go directly to the settings. First you need to roughly set the azimuth and elevation angle of the antenna.

The elevation angle is the angle by which the line of sight to the satellite deviates from the horizontal. Azimuth - the direction indicating the satellite, depending on the location of the receiving site. For example, I give the values of elevation and azimuth for a number of cities in Russia for a satellite hot bird.

1. To view satellite channels hotbird any digital satellite receiver will do, as any of them is capable of receiving open (FTA) channels. In my example, we use the Euston 5000PVR receiver. In accordance with the operating instructions for this receiver, connect the cable coming from the converter to it (connection of the coaxial cable to both the converter and the receiver must be done with the receiver's power turned off!)

2. Connect the receiver to the TV according to the instruction manual. After that, turn on the TV, put it in the “AV” mode and turn on the Euston 5000PVR.

3. To tune in to the satellite hotbird in the receiver, you need to set the parameters of a strong transponder, for example, you can select 11034 -V 27500 - 3/4, where 11034 is the frequency in megahertz, V is the vertical polarization, 27500 is the symbol rate, 3/4 is the error correction code. This can be done by entering the “Installation / Single Search” menu, where we select the name of the Hotbird 1/2/3/4/6 satellite in the “Satellite” field, for a hint, the remote control buttons are displayed at the bottom of the menu, with which the selection is made. Then we proceed to the converter settings in the “LNB Settings” submenu, where we indicate in “LNB Type” - “Universal”, “22K” - does not turn on when a universal converter is selected, “DiSEqC1.0” - “Disable”, “DiSEqC1.1 ” – “Disable”, “Positioner” – “Off”, “Polar” - “Auto”, “Tone” - “On”, press the “Menu” button and confirm the choice with “OK”. Then select the channel scan type “Open” - “No”, which will allow you to scan all channels, “Channel Search” - “TV + Radio”, “Search Mode” - “Preset Scan”.

After completing all these settings, we begin to very slowly turn the antenna left and right, up and down relative to the estimated location of the satellite.

4. Tracking the level of the “Quality” scale on the TV screen, you need to slowly turn the antenna to the left (right), literally one degree at a time, until a green bar appears. If, when turning the antenna to the left (right), you did not achieve the appearance of a green strip, and the azimuth is indicated correctly, then you need to move the antenna up (down) by one degree and repeat the search. After the bar appears, you need to smoothly turn the antenna to the left (right) to achieve the maximum level of the “Quality” scale from the possible one, which will be displayed as a percentage. Next, we carefully fix the antenna mount, which allowed it to move to the left (right) and, tracking the level of the “Quality” scale, move the antenna up (down) to the maximum value, which, ultimately, we also fix. After these settings are made, the signal level will also increase by turning the converter around the holder axis until the maximum value is reached, which also needs to be fixed.

5. When the antenna is tuned to the maximum signal level from the HotBird satellite, it is necessary to scan the channels. To do this, in the same menu, go to the “Search” line and press the “OK” button on the remote control, as a result of which scanning information will be displayed on the TV screen. After performing a scan, you need to save its results.

If, as a result of viewing, there are channels with a crumbling picture “into squares”, then you can adjust the antenna according to the parameters of these channels (weak transponder), which is performed similarly to searching for a satellite by a strong transponder, only with the parameters of a weak transponder, which can be seen beforehand pressing the "Info" button.

This completes the setup, enjoy!

Today we abstract a little from Tricolor, NTV Plus and from pay TV generally. There are many satellites that broadcast channels in the clear. This means that you do not need to pay a monthly fee to view.

One of the most common satellites with a large number of different channels is Hotbird. Hotbird is translated from English as the Firebird. This satellite occupies a convenient position for central Russia at 13 degrees east longitude. From this satellite you can watch channels in Belgian, English, Italian, German, French, Polish, Arabic and other languages of the world. But we are primarily interested in channels in Russian. Since this satellite also contains several channels in Armenian, let's talk about them.
In this article, I will tell you how many and which channels in Russian and Armenian languages are broadcast from the Hotbird satellite, and what you need to set them up.

What diameter satellite dish is required to receive the Hotbird satellite?

To view channels from a satellite, you will need a satellite dish with a diameter of 0.8 meters. I tuned an antenna even 0.6 meters to the satellite, and it worked surprisingly well, even in rainy weather. Can be fully used satellite dish from Tricolor or NTV Plus. But I would still recommend a 0.8 antenna.

Can I use a converter from Tricolor or NTV Plus?

When receiving a satellite signal in the case of Tricolor and NTV Plus, a converter with circular polarization is used. For Hotbird, linear polarizations are used, therefore, the converter from Tricolor and NTV Plus will not work. Purchase an LNB with linear polarization.

Where is the Hotbird 13E satellite in relation to Tricolor?

The orbital position of Zharptitsa is 13 degrees, and Tricolor and NTV Plus are 36. This means that the satellite dish should be turned 23 degrees to the right if you stand behind the dish.

To set up a satellite, you will need a special device or assistant that will monitor the quality of the signal on the TV while you are setting up the antenna. Use transponder 11034/V/27500 for setting. Start slowly rotating the plate vertically and horizontally until a signal appears. Achieve the maximum indication of strength and quality.

When setting satellite receiver can be used automatic search. In this case, the system will set up about a thousand channels for you, among which there are only a few in Russian and only three in Armenian. I propose to take advantage of my experience and set up channels of interest to us in manual mode. For your convenience, I have presented a list of all channels in Russian and Armenian below.

1. Based on your location, choose the diameter you need satellite dish, depending on where you live, the diameter of the antenna can vary from 0.8 to 1.2 meters. For Nizhny Novgorod and the region, the minimum diameter of a plate with a radius of 90 cm.
A detailed coverage map of the HotBird 13E satellite is located here.

2. Align the antenna to the HotBird 13E satellite.

Note:
1. The satellite dish MUST be very precisely in the direction of the satellite.
Approximate direction to the satellite "HotBird 13E"
In the central region - to the southwest.
2. There should be no obstructions between the antenna and the intended position of the satellite. Within a radius of 20 meters there should not be trees, houses and other objects.

An example of typical obstacle options

3. The plate should only be placed in open space. It is impossible to install a plate mirror inside the balcony, attic.

First you need to decide in which direction you need to direct the mirror of the dish. To do this, we need 3 parameters: the azimuth value for our settlement without taking into account the magnetic declination (because the magnetic declination is taken into account on the maps), the value of the elevation angle, the angle of rotation of the converter.
For Nizhny Novgorod and the region, these values will be:
- azimuth values 216°
- elevation angle values 20.34 °
- Converter rotation angle approx. 19°
In order not to lose the found direction, it is worth designating a landmark for yourself, which we offer you to determine in two options:

Determination of a landmark by compass

1. We go outside and take a compass with us.
2. We stand with our backs to the building on the southwestern side of the object, where you plan to install.
3. Determine the compass direction to the north (i.e. when the red compass needle points to 0 ° on the dial).
4. Set aside the azimuth values, for Nizhny Novgorod and the region it is approximately 216 °.
5. We visually select and remember a landmark, for example, a building or a tree (the resulting direction will be the direction to the HotBird 13E satellite).

Determination of a landmark on the map

1. To determine the exact direction to the satellite, we take a map of the settlement (printed, for example, from Internet search engines)
2. We mark the object where it is planned to install the antenna.
3. We determine the direction to the north on the map.
4. We impose a protractor on the map so that zero is directed to the north. We mark 216 ° on the map - this will be the direction to the HotBird 13E satellite.
5. In the received direction to the “HotBird 13E” satellite, mark a landmark for ourselves.

Assembling a plate for "HotBird" with a diameter of 90 cm

We choose a place on the building for mounting the antenna holder with visibility to the landmark.
For installation, we take with us:
- Perforator or drill for drilling holes in the place where the antenna bracket is attached;
- Anchor bolts, screws or through studs for fixing the antenna bracket on the wall;
- Insulating tape and a sharp knife for cutting cables;
- Wrenches (from 10mm to 22mm) or an adjustable wrench;
- Pencil or felt-tip pen to make marks on the antenna mount

You can fix the bracket with anchor bolts, screws or through studs to ensure the greatest strength under possible storm and wind loads. The pipe section on which the antenna is attached must be strictly vertical.

Collecting satellite dish, according to the attached diagram

The converter is installed in the holder on the remote rod of the antenna with its “head” to the antenna mirror, securely fix it, taking into account the required angle of rotation clockwise for Nizhny Novgorod, the angle is 19 °. mark and marks through 5 *. It should be noted that the converter must be LINEAR POLARIZED, unlike the converter for NTV + or Tricolor TV.
Attach the antenna to the bracket. Tighten the adjusting nuts so that it is possible to move the antenna with some effort in the vertical and horizontal directions alternately.

Start cutting the cable, remove the outer insulation 15 mm from the edge. Without damaging the central core, remove the 10 mm dielectric with foil. Bend the remaining shielding foil of the cable.

Connect the cable to the converter, connect the other end of the cable to the satellite receiver.
Connecting the cable to the receiver is STRICTLY done with the receiver turned off from the 220 volt network.

ATTENTION!
If the antenna is the highest point on the building, then lightning can strike it with a high probability, so you need to worry about grounding and lightning rods. Lightning strikes the antenna may result in failure of the entire set of equipment or injury. When installing antennas on balconies, loggias, walls of buildings that already have grounding, additional grounding is not required. If the antenna is installed on hills, cottages, dachas and there are no lightning rods, you must contact the construction company to install the appropriate lightning rods.

Connecting to a TV and setting up the receiver

Turn on the TV and set it to receive video from the video input to which the receiver is connected.
Turn on the receiver. After turning on the receiver, the TV screen displays the process of initializing the receiver. If the receiver has not been configured before, after the initialization is completed, the Main Menu appears on the screen.
Insert the smart card into the slot of the receiver, according to the direction of the arrow shown next to the card reader
Make sure that the HotBird 13E satellite is in the list of satellites of your receiver, if not, enter the data manually.

Required data for setting:

Turn on the receiver, go to the menu Installation-Search channels. In the list of satellites on the left, select HotBird 13E. On the right in the menu, select
LNBP: On (turn on converter power)
LNBP Type: Universal (universal converter type)
LNBP Freq: 10600/9750 (indicated on converters)
22Khz: Auto (signal for switching disc)
DISEqC: None (leave it as it is)

Then comes the most difficult moment, which requires considerable endurance - this is tuning the antenna in planes. Exposure is required - literally a few millimeters, and there will be no signal. Not that it will be bad, but it will not be at all! The setup is as follows - you need to install the antenna in a certain vertical position. After that, you need to very, very smoothly rotate the antenna in the horizontal direction and at the same time carefully look at the quality scale, first in one direction, and if the scale does not change from 0, then in another.
If it is not possible to find a signal in the entire horizontal plane, you need to slightly change the vertical angle of the antenna and start moving again in the horizontal plane until the signal appears. When the signal is found, you need to try to move the antenna more smoothly left and right and achieve the maximum level of signal quality. Having achieved this, you need to try to achieve an even greater signal by moving the antenna very smoothly up and down.

class="eliadunit">

A TV set, a special satellite tuner with a very wide scale of the signal quality level, with the indication of the percentage division of the entire scale.

To tune the antenna to a group of satellites called HotBird 13E, you should set the parameters of a very strong transponder in the receiver itself, for example, you can select 11034 V 27500 - 3/4, 11034 will be the frequency in megahertz, V means vertical polarization, 27500 means symbol rate, 3/4 is the error correction code.

This can be done by entering the menu called “Installation / Single Search”, where you should select the name of the required satellite, that is, Hotbird 1/2/3/4/6, in the available field called “Satellite”, to implement the hint below menu buttons can be displayed remote control remote control with which the selection is made.

Then you should proceed to setting up the converter itself in the submenu called “LNB Setup”, where it is necessary to indicate in paragraph “Type LNB” - type “Universal”, “22K”– will not be enabled when selecting a universal converter, “DiSEqC1.0” must be “Disable”, “DiSEqC1.1” must be “Disable”, “Positioner” must be “Off”, “Polar.” should be “Auto”, “Tone” should be “On”, then you need to press the button called “Menu” and confirm the selection with the “OK” button. Then you should select the transponder number in the field called "TP Number", it will be - "17/109", which corresponds to a frequency of 11034 megahertz, the type of scanning of TV channels "Open" should be indicated as "No", which will allow you to scan all TV channels, " Channel Search” should be “TV+Radio”, “Search Mode” should be “Preset Scan”.

class="eliadunit">

After completing the installation of these settings, you need to proceed to the search for the satellite itself. First you need to use a compass to direct your antenna in azimuth two hundred and eight degrees, and using the marked divisions on the antenna mount itself, set the required tilt angle, which is twenty-three degrees. If your antenna does not have a tilt angle scale, then it will be possible to set it using a goniometer or protractor. Then, tracking the existing level of the scale called “Quality” on the TV itself, you need to slowly turn the antenna itself to the left or right, literally only one degree, until a green bar appears. If, when turning the antenna to the left or right, you cannot achieve the appearance of a green strip, and the azimuth itself is indicated correctly, then you need to move the antenna itself up or down by one degree, and then repeat the entire search. After the appearance of the strip, you should smoothly turn the satellite dish to the left or right to achieve the maximum level of the scale called “Quality” from the one that will be displayed in front of you as a percentage. Then you need to carefully fix the mount of the antenna itself, which allowed you to move it to the left or right, and tracking the existing level of the scale called “Quality”, you need to move the antenna up or down until you reach the maximum value, which, in the end, should also be fixed. After making these settings, turning the converter around the axis of the holder itself will also help to achieve a significant increase in the level of the television signal until it reaches the maximum value, which also needs to be fixed.

When the satellite dish is tuned to the maximum level of the television signal from the HotBird satellites, you should scan TV channels. To do this, in the same menu, you need to go to the line called “Search” and press the button called “OK” on the remote control, as a result of this, all information about the scanning process will be displayed. After scanning, you should save the results. If, as a result of viewing, there are TV channels with a crumbling image “into squares”, then you should adjust the satellite dish according to the parameters of these channels (that is, a weak transponder), which is done in the same way as searching for a satellite using the strongest transponder, only using the parameters of a weak transponder, which can be seen if you press the “Info” button.
