Minimum system requirements Mortal Kombat X:

As you can understand, these requirements are suitable for playing Mortal Kombat X at minimum settings, if the computer's characteristics are below this bar, then it can be very difficult to play Mortal Kombat X even at the minimum graphics settings. If the computer meets or exceeds these system requirements, then there is a comfortable game ahead with a sufficient level of FPS (frames per second), perhaps even at medium graphics settings.

The specifics of PC gaming is such that before proceeding with the passage, you must first familiarize yourself with its system requirements and correlate it with the existing configuration.

To do this simple action, you do not need to know the exact specifications each model of processors, video cards, motherboards and others constituent parts any personal computer. The usual comparison of the main lines of components is quite enough.

For example, if the minimum system requirements for a game include a processor at least Intel Core i5, then you should not expect it to run on i3. However, to compare processors from different manufacturers more difficult, which is why developers often indicate names from two main companies - Intel and AMD (processors), Nvidia and AMD (video cards).

Above are system requirements. It is worth noting that the division into minimum and recommended configurations is done for a reason. It is believed that meeting the minimum requirements is enough to launch the game and complete it from start to finish. However, to achieve the best performance, you usually have to lower the graphic settings.

This series of materials is devoted to testing modern popular games on budget-level platforms with integrated and discrete graphics in the lower price range. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate to readers the readiness or unavailability of configurations that are popular due to affordability for use as gaming platforms by undemanding players. We emphasize in particular that the cycle is aimed at buyers of ready-made solutions in the form of office and cheap home PCs and offers little useful information for those who want to update their PC (make an upgrade). Today, we took the game Mortal Kombat XL as a subject of study.

The following configurations are included in the comparison:

  1. based on AMD A10 APU (with Radeon R7 integrated graphics);
  2. four options based on the Intel Core i3-4160 CPU:
    • Core i3-4160 with integrated graphics;
    • Core i3-4160 + discrete graphics based on Nvidia GeForce GT 730 GPU;
    • Core i3-4160 + discrete graphics based on Nvidia GeForce GT 740 GPU 2 GB GDDR3;
    • Core i3-4160 + discrete graphics based on Nvidia GeForce GT 740 GPU 1 GB GDDR5.

Initially, we took two platforms with integrated graphics, focusing on their approximately equal cost and popularity among PC assembly companies. However, it is already clear that Intel integrated graphics look weak against the Radeon R7 in A10, so we began to gradually add Nvidia GeForce-based discrete graphics to the Intel platform, focusing on the most budget solutions so that they do not greatly increase the total cost of the platform. We started with the GT 730, and we took the most cheap option(very "cut" in terms of the memory bus), then added the GT 740 (various modifications and prices), in order to finally get a rough match with what AMD Radeon R7 can give in the A10 APU. Thus, the reader has a decent choice: in fact, five options, which, although they differ in cost, still belong to the same budget PC segment.

The cost of compared AMD platforms and Intel excluding discrete graphics Nvidia is almost equal, adding GT 730/740 graphics increases the cost Intel platforms, however, both platforms are still in the same budget segment (price range: 20,000-30,000).

The configurations we have chosen are above the minimum requirements stated by the game developers, so in this case we can expect high performance at least at medium settings.

Game settings and testing methodology

In-game settings

We tested it at three resolutions: 1920x1080, 1440x900 and 1280x800 at high (but not maximum) quality settings.

AMD A10-7860KIntel Core i3-4160Intel Core i3-4160 + GT 730

And at medium quality settings at 1280x800:

The picture in the game looked something like this:

AMD A10-7860KIntel Core i3-4160Intel Core i3-4160 + GT 730Intel Core i3-4160 + GT 740 GDDR3Intel Core i3-4160 + GT 740 GDDR5

The difference in the picture at medium and high quality settings is visually felt quite strongly.

Test Methodology

Our goal is to demonstrate how the player feels in real life. gameplay, so we just play around with the FPS counters (using the FRAPS program) to get a rough idea of performance.

Videos were written in the same conditions: they chose the same fighters and background. During the recording of videos, there were 2 moments when the battle would freeze and unfreeze after 5-10 seconds, but when re-recording everything was fine. Perhaps this problem is related to using Windows 10. In fact, the game menus and pre-fight inserts are more demanding than the fights themselves. There were no obvious brakes during the game - with the exception of the i3-4160 integrated graphics. In the latter case, the game menu is a pitiful sight: either terrible lags (up to 3 fps), or like slow motion. It is not clear why artifacts appeared on this type of graphics and precisely at a resolution of 1440 × 900.
