10.1-inch tablet with a 1920×1200 resolution IPS screen, the latest MediaTek 64-bit platform, 2 GB of memory, a capacious battery and 3G/LTE support. All this on Android 5.0 and under $300. Intrigued? Let's see how Lenovo TAB 2A10-70L, which meets all the listed criteria, will show itself in practice.

Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70 does not surprise with its exquisite design. Externally, the tablet is simple and concise. The body of the device is made of plastic with a semi-gloss finish. The device is offered in two colors - pearl white (Pearl White) and dark blue (Midnight Blue).

Logo and front-camera at the side face - an unambiguous hint from the manufacturer that the tablet is best used in landscape orientation. Of course. For a widescreen 16:10 aspect ratio, this is more of a natural position. Especially when you consider that the manufacturer nominally positions the tablet for home use and entertainment.

If you hold the tablet in landscape mode, you can find the headphone/headset jack on the top edge.

On the left edge there is a power key, a volume rocker, and a micro-USB connector for connecting charging or an OTG cable. At the same edge there is a compartment covered with a plastic cap, behind which the connectors for the MicroSD and SIM flash cards are hidden.

There are no functional elements on the right side.

Only the microphone hole is visible on the bottom edge.

In terms of dimensions, the Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L is a kind of compromise for 10-inch models - 247 × 171 × 8.9 mm. The tablet weighs 509 grams. That is, not thin and light, but moderately toned strong man. It does not look bulky, although there is a feeling that the device could be made even more compact. This is due to the rather wide bezels around the screen. However, it is this solution that allows you to avoid false positives when you touch the screen with your palm.

Taking the tablet in hand, there is no feeling that you are holding a premium device. It would be strange to expect this from a model entry level but you always want more.

Periodically, the body creaks, this cannot be taken away. Holding the corner, extracting a characteristic sound is not difficult at all. At the same time, the tablet with dignity withstands the test for twisting - bends are minimal, although there are no metal reinforcements in the case.

The back cover bends in the central part. The stroke length is small - about a millimeter. During use, you quickly stop paying attention to it. Monolith fans will certainly prefer to retrofit the tablet with a hard-walled case that solves this problem.

A slight deflection does not affect the image in any way. Even with a serious effort, no artifacts on the screen, similar to those that occur on iPad Air 2 is not here.

The rear panel with a semi-matte finish readily collects fingerprints, but on the white cover they are almost invisible, but on the blue one they will probably be more clearly visible.

Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L comes in a medium sized box. The device comes with a power supply (5.2 V, 2 A), a cable and a set of documentation.

Screen

The tablet received a 10.1-inch screen with an IPS-matrix and a resolution of 1920 × 1200. Please note that this is not Full HD. The aspect ratio is not 16:9, but 16:10. Additional points are very appropriate for such a diagonal - the pixel density is higher, which means that small details will look better.

In this case, we have 224 PPI, which is very good result. Relatively affordable 10-inch models get HD-resolution screens, even Full HD is a rarity for devices under $400. And at 1280×800 on such a diagonal, graininess is visible to the naked eye.

The screen has an air layer. Yes, this is not OGS. The image does not float on the surface, but hides under the thickness of the protective panel. At the same time, we were pleased with the wide viewing angles and natural color reproduction.

According to the measurements, the color gamut is almost the same as sRGB. The color temperature is very stable over almost the entire range, only slightly exceeding the reference 6500K.

Subjectively, the image quality is very pleasant. A screen of this level is not expected to be found on a device of this class.

Frankly good and the proposed contrast ratio - 1128:1. The gamma curve is not perfect, but deviations are within reason.

You can try to adjust the image using MiraVision technology. The available options allow you to adjust the color balance, contrast, saturation, sharpness, tone of the image, enable the dynamic contrast mode.

According to our measurements, the brightness of the display is adjustable between 27-251 cD/m². The maximum value is not a record, but quite sufficient so that you can see the image on the screen outdoors, although not in bright sunlight - in such conditions the surface glares noticeably. But the minimum level is frankly high. At night, with minimal ambient light, you may want to further reduce the brightness of the screen when the control is already at zero. In this case, you can experiment with software setting utilities like Lux, but it's still not a full-fledged alternative.

There is no light sensor, the brightness is adjustable in manual mode. To control the brightness, PWM is either not used at all, or a high frequency is used that cannot be visually tracked. At least the "pencil" test of the tablet passes without any problems.

As for the material from which the screen protector is made, the developer has brought intrigue here. Until now, the network does not cease discussions on this subject. In our opinion, in this case, not glass is used, but high-quality plastic. How durable the material is, only time will tell. At first glance, it appears to be quite durable. During testing, it was not possible to scratch the surface. Although, of course, it is possible to discuss this topic only after a relatively long operation.

There is no oleophobic coating, although fingers slide across the screen quite easily. The latter collects prints well, so perfectionists should immediately get microfiber wipes. To maintain perfect cleanliness, you will have to make an effort - the screen is reluctant to part with traces.

In the case of the white version of Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L, the tablet's screen is edged with a silver insert around the perimeter. Acting as a decorative element, it also carries a practical load. The extra bead rises a fraction of a millimeter above the screen surface, providing minimal protection from scratches when the tablet is placed on a flat surface.

In general, the impression of the screen is positive. Without fear of repeating ourselves, we note that for its class Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L received a very decent display. But this is often one of the main criteria when choosing a tablet.

Sound

Sound speakers are located at the top edge of the rear side. Spectacular perforation in this area is not used by chance. In this case, three emitters are used, forming the so-called sound bar.

Using Dolby ATMOS technology, the manufacturer tried to expand the sound stage and partly succeeded. The speakers have a good margin of volume, but you should still take into account that the emitters are located on the back side and are directed in the opposite direction from the user. In this case best effect achieved if there is some kind of sound reflector nearby. The speaker layout used is a compromise. On the one hand, they do not close with your hands when holding the tablet in landscape orientation, on the other hand, higher power is required to get a comfortable volume level. Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L definitely has no problems with this, although low frequencies very lacking.

The proposed utility for the implementation of Dolby ATMOS allows you to select several profiles for various tasks and voice acting conditions.

Of the interesting features, the tablet offers the function of an FM tuner. To listen to radio stations, you must connect headphones or a headset to be used as external antenna. The reception is stable, the quality is quite acceptable.

cameras

The tablet has two cameras. The 8 MP rear camera with autofocus takes good quality photos, but you shouldn't expect much from it.

Details are rather weak, focusing is not very fast.

Trying to improve the quality of the pictures, you can play around with the settings. There are many options available here. You can adjust the white balance, ISO sensitivity (100-1600), exposure (±3EV), or select HDR mode.

There is no additional flash, therefore, a photo of acceptable quality can only be expected in conditions of sufficient external lighting.

HDR is very useful in some cases.

The camera allows you to record video at resolutions up to 1920×1080. The quality is not very high. Again, a lot depends on the shooting conditions.

Of the interesting features, we note the flicker compensation mode, which can be useful if you are shooting video from the monitor screen or a display on which “running stripes” are clearly visible falls into the frame.

Front camera 5-megapixel without autofocus. She copes with her main task - creating herself and transferring video to Skype. Although, it should be noted that when shooting video, the resolution is limited to 640 × 480.

Operating system and software

The tablet comes with Android 4.4 out of the box. You don't have to wait for an update to Android 5.0 - it's already available. After connecting and setting up the network, the operating system can be updated to version 5.0.1. It was in this form that the tablet came to us for testing. In its original state with Android 4.4, Lenovo's Vibe UI proprietary shell is used. However, after the update, the original development of the manufacturer minimally reminds of itself.

Native elements are used to a greater extent android interface 5.0. There is practically no additional software. Note the application for Reserve copy SYNCit HD as well as pre-installed office suite WPS office.

Performance

The hardware platform of the tablet is based on the MediaTek MT8732 processor, running at 1.7 GHz. This is a relatively new mid-range 64-bit chip that includes 4 cores with Cortex-A53 architecture. Nominally this model should work at 1.5 GHz, but the manufacturer slightly increased the frequency of the SoC. Note that after android firmware 5.0.1 in many diagnostic utilities, the processor is identified as MT6752. This is an identifier error. Alas, it is not yet possible to add 4 more computing cores just by changing the software.

The Mali-T760 MP2 is responsible for the graphic part. In terms of functionality, this is a very progressive video subsystem, but in this modification, the GPU includes only 2 cores / clusters, therefore even a theoretical computing power relatively small - 34 GFLOPS.

The tablet is equipped with 2 GB random access memory- a reasonable minimum for comfortable work in Android 5.0. After the system boots, about 950 MB are available for applications.

4510 points in the PCMark test indicate that there are no special problems with the performance of the tablet. There are no questions about the smoothness of the interface. Minimal stuttering can be seen on very heavy pages in Chrome. Otherwise, the speed for typical "tablet" tasks is quite enough.

In the 64-bit edition of AnTuTu Benchmark v.5.7.1, the tablet scores about 34,000 points. Not so long ago, such values were typical for flagships, but by today's standards, these are rather average figures.

The tablet also receives very good marks according to the results of the GeekBench 3 test.

The speed of the internal drive is low. The linear read speed is very good - 142 MB / s, but the sequential write speed would be higher - 12 MB / s. On random read / write operations, the drive shows 17/6.2 MB / s, respectively. Modestly, very modestly.

The Mali-T760 MP2 graphics support OpenGL ES 3.1, allowing you to run the Sling Shot test from the 3DMark package in the most difficult mode, in which the scene is rendered at a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels, followed by scaling. Of course, the very possibility of using this mode is of some value, but high performance is also needed, and a graphics unit with two cores cannot provide this. The result is 260 points. By comparison, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 on an Exynos 5433 chip with Mali-T760 graphics, but in the MP6 variant (142.8 GFLOPS), scores 710 points in the same test. This suggests that the Mali-760 itself is a good sign, but in the case of the MT8732, the video core is used in the basic version, the performance of which is relatively low.

Well, let's drive away despondency and annoyance, look again at the Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L price tag and continue our experiments. The results of the tablet in various versions of the Ice Storm subtest are quite good, which gives reason for moderate optimism.

The performance in the classic Epic Citadel once again demonstrates that with the highest graphics quality, the Mali-T760 MP2 is not so easy to handle rendering, especially in tablet-native mode. When the resolution is lowered, the performance increases noticeably.

At the same time, you can adjust the fps and reduce the quality of the graphics. In High Quality mode, even at 1920×1128 we got 54 fps, instead of 34 fps in Ultra High Quality. It is obvious that such methods will have to be used in real games, which provides the ability to adjust the quality of graphics. In maximum modes, the tablet will not always be able to provide acceptable performance.

A few words about the purely gaming abilities of Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L. Performance in World Of Tank Blitz largely depends on the graphics settings. In the low quality mode, we have a very comfortable 45-60 frames / s with which it is a pleasure to play /. On medium fps settings sags up to 25-30, and with high you can see 10-15 frames / s, especially when using sniper mode. In general, the performance in this game fluctuates quite widely and seriously depends on the complexity of the current scene. Here, it’s more important for someone to get maximum smoothness with somewhat simplified textures or put up with a not very high fps value, but with a richer and clearer picture.

In the game Asphalt 8, a subjectively tolerable number of frames can be obtained by choosing a mode that assumes average quality. At high, the increasing lethargy of control is already well felt. For such a dynamic arcade you need more fps.

Modern Combat 5 is quite playable, although it is felt that more productive hardware would not hurt for complete comfort.

You can build a card strategy in Hearthstone for your own pleasure. During the gaming session, everything is quite cheerful. Small jamming takes place on transients.

Something similar could be observed in Need game For Speed No Limits. The interface feels sluggish, while during the races, the frame rate is quite acceptable. That's just the resolution for the game is automatically set significantly lower than the native one.

In general, graphics performance is not bad, but if you are primarily interested in a tablet as a platform for games, then it is better to look for a more productive solution. Alas, it will cost much more than TAB 2 A10-70L.

autonomy

The Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70L has a 7000 mAh (26.6 Wh) battery. Given the rather economical platform, you can count on good autonomy.

In the test of autonomy from the PCMark package, the tablet lasted 9 hours and 28 minutes. At the same time, the screen brightness corresponded to 150 cD / m² (57%), and Wi-Fi was also turned on. At the end of the test, there was still 19% of the charge, and this is at least an hour of work in approximately the same mode.

Futuremark's common test application database for a similar model stores results with 12 hours battery life. They may have been taken with minimum brightness and disabled wireless interfaces. One way or another, we can say for sure that the Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70L will last more than 10 hours with a fairly high computing load. For a 10-inch model with classic dimensions and a screen with a higher resolution, the result is very good. To discharge the tablet in a day, you need to try very hard. On average, the charge will be enough for 2-3 days.

Due to the high capacity of the battery, it does not charge very quickly. It will take about 3.5-4 hours to replenish the charge from 10% to 100%. At the same time, the process itself runs evenly, there are no accelerations at the start here. An event indicator is not provided, so you can find out about the status by turning on the tablet.

It is highly desirable to use a standard power supply and cable or similar chargers that can provide current up to 2 A. Less powerful smartphone PSUs can significantly increase the charge time.

When charging the battery during a high load, the battery's vitality is replenished slowly. For clarity, for half an hour of playing Dead Trigger 2 with the power supply connected, the charge was restored by only 7% - from 12% to 19%.

Note that the USB connector is not located in the center of the panel, but is somewhat shifted to the top. In this case, it is convenient to keep the tablet in landscape mode even when it is connected to the charger.

Heat

Even under high gaming load, the tablet body heats up very little. Left side gets warmer top corner, approximately in this zone the processor is located. After an hour session, the body temperature in this place rose to 42 degrees. If you hold the tablet in the recommended position, then in the palmar area, heating is not felt at all.

Communications

The tablet is equipped with a dual-band (2.4/5 GHz) Wi-Fi module that supports 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 protocols. Special stability issues wifi work we didn't watch. During the testing, the connection was interrupted several times, seemingly for no apparent reason, but it is quite possible that this is a feature of the operation of a particular tablet-router bundle (TL-WR1043ND) or channel congestion. Everything was “treated” in the traditional way for such cases - by reconnecting the connection.

Paired with fresh TP-LINK router Touch P5 such questions did not arise at all. Moreover, with such a source it was possible to get a very good data transfer rate: reading - up to 85 Mb / s, writing - up to 63 Mb / s.

The TAB 2 A10-70L tablet version also supports 3G/LTE, however voice features disabled in this case. Data transfer and sending SMS/MMS are available. Of the positioning systems, GPS, Glonass and Beidou are supported.

OTG capabilities can be used to connect various peripherals. If necessary, this may be Network Card USB-Ethernet, which will allow you to connect via a wired network (tested - works).

Price

In Ukraine, officially this moment only one modification is offered - Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L with 16 GB of memory, which is equipped with a 3G / LTE modem. The recommended cost of this version is 7000 UAH. At the same time, devices intended for other markets are actually available for sale, which are much cheaper. Note that non-3G/LTE versions are designated as TAB 2 A10-70F. These models use Mediatek processor MT8165, which differs from MT8237 only in the absence of a block for working with 3G / LTE.

Modifications of tablets with 32 GB of internal memory are also available. And this is very handy. In 16 GB models, 11 GB are available to the user and this space fills up very quickly. Memory cards allow you to partially offload the main drive, but under Android 5.0, not all applications can be transferred to an external flash drive.

Results

Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L– A 10.1-inch tablet with a very attractive price/performance ratio. The model is built on a middle-class hardware platform, equipped with a good IPS screen with a resolution of 1920×1200, 2 GB of memory and a 3G/LTE modem. Yes, perhaps all this is wrapped in a not very spectacular package, but for its class the tablet body is quite acceptable. If you look at the cost of the device, and then try to pick up in the same price category a similar tablet, it will turn out that this mission is impossible. For $200-$300, there are very few 10-inch tablets in general that come equipped with a Full HD+ resolution screen. If we add the presence of an up-to-date processor, support for Android 5.0 and good autonomy to the important selection criteria, then Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L will not remain in the list of alternatives for real rivals. The device has a number of disadvantages, and for some they may turn out to be critical, but the obvious advantages of the considered model are still more significant. In any case, if you choose a large tablet, but are not ready to seriously spend money, the Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L definitely deserves to be on the list of possible purchase candidates.

Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70L 16Gb LTE - mobile digital device(tablet), which went on sale in 2015. The novelty immediately attracted the attention of most buyers. The manufacturer used innovative developments. The tablet is based on the well-known MediaTek processor. High performance is provided by two gigabytes of RAM. And the screen at 10.1ʺ guarantees the user a comfortable pastime. Such characteristics, combined with a price of 18 thousand rubles, can intrigue any buyer.

Design

If you study customer reviews, then Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70L in design will pull only a four. The reason for this is the typical design. The case is plastic. The developers have applied a matte finish, thanks to which touching the tablet gives an unforgettable pleasure. However, you can not remain silent about the marco. The soft-touch coating is already known to buyers, and in their reviews they often point out such a disadvantage as the accumulation of fingerprints.

The gadget has dimensions of 24.7 × 17.1 × 0.89 cm. The side edges are slightly rounded, which allowed the developers to visually reduce the thickness of the tablet. The front panel is designed according to a typical scheme. On it is big screen, camera lens and light sensor. But the light indicator in the Lenovo Tab A10-70L is not provided. The frame around the display is black or white. The camera lens is on the back panel. There is also a speaker here. Its hole occupies the entire upper part. Also on the lid, the manufacturer placed a company logo. Mechanical buttons (power key and volume control), which are used to control the tablet, are located on the side face on the left side. There is also a microUSB connector. The developers brought the microphone to the bottom end, and the headset port to the top.

Given that the Lenovo Tab A10 works with networks mobile operators, the designers have provided slots for a micro SIM card and removable storage. They are covered with a cap.

According to users, the build quality is quite good. However, they noticed one feature - when you press the back cover, there is a slight deflection. Most likely, this is due to the presence of free space between the case and the internal "stuffing".

Characteristics and reviews of the display

Tablet Lenovo Tab A10-70L has many advantages. One of them is the screen. It is quite large - 10.1 inches. The display technology used in the gadget is currently the highest quality. We are talking about IPS-matrix. It is already well known to users. Wide viewing angles, high color reproduction, real shades, optimal brightness margin - all this is guaranteed by the developers of Lenovo Tab A10-70L.

It is almost impossible to meet screens with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 px in the category of tablets under 20 thousand rubles. Famous brands use such characteristics in models whose prices are an order of magnitude higher. Unfortunately, the pixel density is not high enough - only 224 ppi. But users do not consider this a significant drawback.

In order to protect the developers used glass. allows you to almost completely get rid of the accumulation of fingerprints on the screen.

Hardware "stuffing"

Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70L 16Gb LTE is powered by a 4-core processor from MediaTek. Computing modules operate according to the 2+2 principle. With increasing load, the clock frequency reaches 1300 MHz. Users have no complaints about the MT8732 chipset model. In work, the tablet showed excellent results. It performs all tasks quickly: applications do not freeze, the browser does not slow down. The Mali-T760 processor is responsible for the graphics. The graphics accelerator allows you to display high-quality animation and other images.

Memory

Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70L shows good performance thanks to two gigabytes of "RAM". They are quite enough for excellent performance, and the user can experience almost no restrictions. The only thing that can cause problems is with modern toys. During their launch, subsidence in FPS is observed.

Native memory storage is 16 GB. It is designed to install downloaded applications, pictures and other files. In order for users to fully enjoy the capabilities of the gadget, the developers have provided support external drives.
