For the fourth winter in a row (and what, November is also almost winter), the same event is happening, awakening all sleepy Google fans, forcing them to hammer on F5 in online broadcasts and save money for it - on new smartphone Nexus series, which Google orders from one of the major manufacturers. But this time, due to a hurricane in America, the presentation did not take place, so a press release was sent out: meet the new LG Nexus 4.

You can not skip the shooting mode spherical panorama. To create a high-quality photo for all 146 percent and 365 degrees, you will have to spin in one place for a very long time. Art requires sacrifice, what to do.

⇡ About Conclusions

When did the first publications about the new Nexus device, almost everyone agreed on one thing: the design of the model is average, and the back cover is generally a handicraft of a child from a kindergarten. If you communicate with the device in life for some time, the views are likely to change somewhat.

The Nexus 4 is a pleasure to hold in your hands, and its "paper" characteristics put most of the current flagships on the shoulder blades, starting from Sony Xperia TX and ending samsung galaxy S3. In life, everything is somewhat worse: heating, and subsequent brakes, and not the best battery - all these problems do not allow us to call the LG Nexus 4 the best smartphone in the world. Perhaps in the future, with updates, life will become better (and the grass greener), but for now, you can turn a blind eye to all the "flaws" only if the device is sold at a price from Google - $ 350 for a version with 16 GB on board (8 GB is a very niche solution) looks like a very “tasty” offer.

In our country, the smartphone is officially sold only in Svyaznoy - they want 19,990 rubles for the version with 8 GB of memory, and prices on the Internet fluctuate around 20,300 rubles, which is comparable to the official price for the Galaxy S3. The device definitely has a future, especially after the release of fixes, but for now, at this price, the Nexus 4 will be an interesting solution only for geeks and those users who need the most latest version Android. In addition, with the advent of official deliveries, the cost of “gray” models should slowly fall.

Main advantages:

  • Great design
  • Impressive "paper" characteristics
  • Constant fast Android updates

Main cons:

  • Constant heating
  • The presence of lags at the present time
  • Average autonomy.

One sheer merit. From design, build quality, case materials to total absence brakes (which is rare for an android) during operation and the absence of glitches (that is, they happen, like any iPhone, but are extremely rare). UPDATE 09.2015: Android 5.0.1 was buggy, rolled back to 4.4.4. But then I installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 based on Android 5.1.1 - no glitches, everything flies. Those. the device is 100% up to date today.

A great phone for the money - powerful, fast and most importantly - the first of all to receive updates. Thanks to 2 gigs of RAM, everything just flies - not one application made it slow down. Long battery life (2500mah is enough even for such a screen) !!

Heating at the back of the panel, average quality camera, small battery capacity.
UPD: For 10 days of using the phone from the moment of purchase, the phone rebooted arbitrarily 1 time, 2 times I had to restart the smartphone after exiting the applications (after exiting the phone showed a black screen). I hope that with the release of the update to version 4.3, these shortcomings will be corrected.

for me they don’t. A hackneyed topic with a battery doesn’t count. This is ANDROYD !!! so we endure and pump the battery. The buttons, yes, cut off the screen, but there is such a weight as PIE. The usable screen area increases a lot. But you need to get used to this feature .

Discharged to zero and died. It does not charge, does not respond to buttons, you can call up the boot menu using the volume + power buttons, but when you select any of the menu items, the result is the same - a black screen. I'll take it in for repair. I do not recommend buying.

This smartphone can be called without exaggeration the most important smartphone of 2012. Users along with it received not only new version android, but new approach to design. Perhaps this will even be the beginning of a revolution in the design and materials used in phones running Google's OS. The Nexus 4's specs are so good that they set a new bar for their competitors.

In addition to hardware, another “killer feature” of the phone is , which, by the way, is not so fundamentally different from 4.1. Key innovations include lock screen widgets, an overhaul of the camera app, and a beautiful clock app design that points to the future direction of Android design.

Design and material

Real thought, love and care have been put into this phone. Google and LG have chosen a design that no one dares to call cheap. The design of the smartphone and the attention to every detail evokes a stunning (in a good way) feeling.

Front and back - Gorilla Glass 2. Two glass plates give the device a hard and "heavy" feeling. Plastic cases were not even close in terms of solidity. It's just wonderful. Elastic plastic on the sides and nice roundness are made to make the phone feel comfortable in the hand. As a result, the grip is excellent.

Without a doubt, we can say that the Nexus 4 is, on this moment, the #1 premium Android phone. He will become a sip fresh air for those who are tired of the cheap feeling that comes with contact with glossy plastic.

From the front, the phone can be called an almost exact copy of the Galaxy Nexus, which, by the way, is also very good. Nexus 4 has taken the wave of minimalism. Above the screen is a speaker and a front camera. Everything.

By the way, even with the LCD, the same pure black look as the Galaxy Nexus remains. Turned off screen remains the same black, getting beautiful effect"hidden screen" in any light.

The back side is made up of a single piece of glass that is only interrupted for a speaker cutout and a ring around the camera flash. The camera, logos, legal information and decorations are under this glass. You only feel the smooth, hard surface.

The main "feature" of the design is the ornament on the back. This, of course, is not a silver disco ball, but it looks no worse. Refined silver circles reflect the light falling on them. In reality, it looks very attractive. But in 90% of cases you will not notice it, because the circles become visible only if the light enters at an angle of 90 degrees. The amount of work that has gone into this is impressive. I would like all smartphone manufacturers to bring new, original ideas to the design.

When you place your phone on a flat surface, it is in full contact with it. If you "ride" the phone on the table, you can hear how small pieces of dust are crushed in a limited space. The back picture, by the way, effectively masks scratches.

At the bottom of the 4th Nexus there is also a unique design solution - bare screw heads. It looks, of course, strange, but we hope that this will contribute to an increase in maintainability. In addition, there is also a hole for a microphone and a charging port on the bottom, which you can never use, because you can charge your smartphone “by air”. The headset jack is located at the top.

Anyone who has held a Galaxy Nexus in their hands will feel the familiar layout of the buttons on the Nexus 4. On the left side is the volume rocker and the SIM card tray, on the right is the power button.

The only thing I didn't like about the design was the chrome ring around the edges, because It's just plain glossy plastic. The plastic buttons also look a bit "cheap". However, these are very minor details...

LG and Google have also decided to tie full-color LED notifications to their flagship. In size, they seem a little smaller than on the Galaxy Nexus, but larger than on most smartphones.

Screen

By today's standards, it's nothing special. Pretty standard 1280×768 IPS LCD. In general, it corresponds to the status and level of the phone. The Nexus 4 is back to a normal full-matrix LCD. It has 50% more sub-pixels than Pentile and it's noticeable to the naked eye.

Performance

The processor, graphics accelerator and 2GB of RAM make this smartphone one of the most powerful to date. It didn't show up in tests, but who cares? In reality, the Nexus 4 just flies! You can simultaneously scroll through complex parts in Google Earth and spin heavy, loaded web pages. In this case, you will not notice a single lag. No lags were found even at the same time. What can I say - the fastest available android smartphones today. It is not something that you can play on it, but the most modern toys.

We suspect that the lackluster scores in the tests are due to the fact that they do not use the full power of the 4-core processor. In short, points by points, and in terms of performance, the Nexus 4 is a real monster. GPS, by the way, earned in 4 seconds (without Wi-Fi).

Battery

The previous Nexus didn't impress with battery life. The good news is that everything is much better with our devices. 16-18 hours with average use. Used streaming video, bluetooth, calls, sms, wi-fi, GPS and surfing the Internet. Simply put, the typical use of a smartphone by an average person. It takes 2-3 hours to fully charge. In addition, do not forget about wireless charging.

Conclusion

Nexus 4 at an affordable price (300-350 bucks) can only be bought on the Internet, in Google Play. Unfortunately, the countries of Europe and pseudo-Europe will receive inflated prices, there is no doubt about this. This smartphone can be called the first to combine chic design and no less chic stuffing. Nexus 4 is a premium phone, a benchmark for other manufacturers.
