Hi all! Sometimes it can be very difficult to find a balanced smartphone in all respects. Always, something will not suit. But Lenovo seems to have found a way out of this impasse. The novelty is called Lenovo Vibe P1". In this smartphone, they tried to embody all the most important points. And what are these moments, you will learn from this review.

PACKAGE

The smartphone comes in a rather voluminous rectangular box. Cardboard is thick and good quality.

The top of the box is black.

The base is blue. Brief technical information on the back of the box.

The packaging has all the control seals, stickers and designations.

The contents of the package are neatly packaged in different sections.

EQUIPMENT

Let's see what the manufacturer will please us with:

The smartphone itself.

Case-overlay on the back side of the smartphone.

Various documentation.

Micro USB to USB OTG adapter.

Protective film on the screen.

Mains charger.

Headset.

Micro USB to USB cable.

The delivery set frankly surprised and pleased me, there is everything and even more. Recently, manufacturers have not paid much attention to the scope of delivery. But Lenovo thinks differently. Having bought this smartphone we do not need to "puzzle" where to buy a protective film or case.

APPEARANCE

There are three colors available in total:

GREY

SILVER

GOLD

I had a device in a gray version on the review, but the color is more graphite than gray.

As you understand, the smartphone turned out to be quite large, after all, the screen size is 5.5 inches. Comfortable to use with one hand, of course, will no longer work. However, the smartphone does not feel like a “shovel” in the hand. Most likely I'm just used to large smartphones And I do not perceive the true size of the device.

The thickness of the smartphone was 9.9 mm, and this is a rather small indicator, because a non-removable 5000 mAh battery was installed in the case.

As such, our body is non-separable. In the upper part there is a small plastic insert under which there is a tray for two "nano" SIM cards. There was also a place for external card memory. This is a plus since we are not forced to do hard choice what to use, a memory card or a second SIM card.

Weight 187 grams can be called large. However, the heaviness is pleasantly felt in the hand.

The case is completely metal and only in the upper and lower parts there are small plastic inserts, under which various wireless modules are hidden. Therefore, the metal case of the smartphone does not shield the signal: cellular network, WiFi, BT, GPS.

If we look at the back side of the smartphone, we will clearly notice similarities with products from htc and a bit from Huawei.

There are no protruding elements in the design of the smartphone, and the back side is slightly sloping from the sides.

On the front side, the smartphone borrowed some features from Samsung smartphones. In particular, the mechanical button in which the fingerprint scanner is placed is quite noticeable. The top and bottom bezels of the screen are quite wide, the side ones can be said to be narrow - only 2 mm.

I can't say anything negative about the build quality. As in any case, the body is not collapsible. Nothing creaks or squeezes through. If you really find fault, then the control buttons play a little, and the mechanical button with the scanner is installed a little crookedly.

ACCESSORIES

PAD COVER

Included in the delivery is a carrying case. The case itself is made of transparent plastic, the edges of the case are well processed. But the plastic is still quite hard and under certain circumstances, you can scratch the body of the smartphone.

Technological holes on the smartphone body perfectly match those on the case. Please note that the case does not protect the top and bottom of the smartphone, which can be considered a small minus. However, this cover is enough for the first time.

FILM ON THE SCREEN

Complete film on the screen of excellent quality. Glossy, perfectly matches the technological elements on the screen.

MICRO USB-OTG ADAPTER

In the package, you can find a rather necessary accessory in the form of an OTG adapter.

The adapter itself is very compact. Using this adapter, you can quickly connect various peripherals to your smartphone or use Lenovo Vibe P1 as a portable battery. You can recharge any other smartphone or tablet PC.

HEADSET

Recently, smartphone manufacturers have abandoned bundled headphones.

In our case, this headset is. The headset itself has a built-in microphone and a call answer button.

It should be understood that this accessory is not suitable for listening to music, the sound quality is rather mediocre. Only if you talk on this headset.

MAINS CHARGER

The smartphone is equipped with a charger that supports the technology fast charging. This technology is also built into the smartphone's chipset. If you use the complete charger, then the process of charging a smartphone from 0 to 100% takes 1 hour and 30 minutes, which is an excellent indicator.

By normal charging, even at 2A, the charging time increases to 6 hours, which is quite a long time.

CONTROLS

Let's go through the controls.

On the top end there is a 3.5 mm hole for a headset and a hole for the first microphone.

On the right side is the usual power button and volume control button.

On the bottom end of the Micro USB connector and the hole of the second microphone, which was hidden behind the speaker grid. It is noteworthy that the holes are located on the sides of the Micro USB connector and it may seem that we have stereo speakers in front of us, but in practice there is only one speaker.

On the left side there is a mechanical button to switch the smartphone to the maximum power saving mode. It’s frustrating that you can’t assign another action to the button, for example: turn on the flashlight, put the smartphone in silent mode, activate the camera, etc.

When the maximum power saving mode is activated, all wireless technologies are turned off (except for the cellular network signal), the screen switches to black and white mode, you cannot enter the smartphone menu and use the settings.

The remaining time of the smartphone is displayed on the screen. On the lower part screen, you can display up to 6 different labels. It can be: phone, clock, sms, contacts, etc.

On the back side, only the main camera and flash.

Manufacturer's logo at the bottom.

On the front side: earpiece, proximity sensor, auto brightness sensor, front camera, status indicator.

At the bottom is a mechanical button with a fingerprint scanner. In total, you can assign recognition to 2 fingers, although in the Chinese version of the smartphone this figure is 5. The mechanical button cannot be assigned to receive and hang up a call.

In general, the scanner is very fast. The finger can be applied completely at any angle, it is not necessary to hold the button. It rarely happens when the scanner does not work the first time, however, this applies to the entire technology as a whole, and not to a specific instance.

The touch control buttons are backlit, but the backlight itself is very dim and almost indistinguishable.

You can adjust the backlight time of the buttons or turn off the backlight completely.

SCREEN

The Lenovo Vibe P1 has a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The pixel density is 401 ppi. With such characteristics, no individual pixels are completely visible on the smartphone screen. The aspect ratio of the screen is 16:9. The screen is made using OGS technology (there is no air gap between the glass and the touch layer).

Multitouch for 10 touches.

There is automatic adjustment brightness.

The very low level of maximum brightness is depressing. The maximum brightness level is - 200 cd / m2, which is very small. A comfortable indicator of maximum brightness is 300 cd / m2, and preferably higher. In the screen settings there is a high brightness mode that raises the upper limit to 265 cd / m2, but even this is sometimes not enough. In bright sunlight, the image on the screen may be dim and fade quite a lot. All this is done for the sake of maximum battery savings.

But I was pleased with the excellent oleophobic coating, by the way one of the best on the market, fingerprints practically do not remain on the screen.

Viewing angles can be found using this material:

The screen is protected by a glass panel in the face of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Traditionally, we will analyze the screen settings using a calibrator.

Gamma curves have a significant deviation from the reference curve.

But the color channels are pretty good.

The color temperature is quite a bit gone beyond the standards of 6500k.

Excellent sRGB performance. The screen has the correct color reproduction.

In general, the screen has correct calibration along the color spectrum. But in the settings, you almost always have to set the maximum brightness to the maximum. The touch layer reacts to the slightest touch. I am glad that the manufacturer left us the ability to adjust the screen settings manually.

CAMERA

The main camera in Lenovo Vibe P1 has a 13MP matrix and this necessary minimum in similar smartphones. Maximum image resolution: 4160 x 3120 dots.

The camera is equipped with phase detection autofocus. Focusing itself is almost instantaneous, and the camera works very, very quickly.

The settings of the camera itself can be viewed in this example:

Personally, I liked the quality of the shooting, although many reviews indicate that the photo part itself is not at a high level. However, I propose to independently evaluate the results of the survey. Of course, in good lighting, the pictures are quite good, flaws can be seen in poor lighting.

Videos can be shot in Full HD format at 30 frames per second.

The front camera is a 5MP matrix. Image resolution 2592 x 1944 pixels. For selfies, this camera is quite suitable, the detail in the frame is at a good level.

Video can also be shot in Full HD resolution at 30 frames per second. Subjectively, the quality of the videos is worse than from the main camera.

SOFT

Smartphone from Lenovo runs on Android OS 5.1.1. An update to version 6.0 is scheduled for spring.

You can update the firmware over the air. When you first turned it on, two updates came at once.

The firmware of the smartphone uses Lenovo's own launcher called Vibe UI. The advantage of this shell is that you can always turn it off in the settings and use the standard android interface 5.1.

Smartphone stuffed various settings and functionality, I will tell you only about the most significant ones.

As such, there is no separate menu with applications in the smartphone, everything is collected on three main desktops, some of the applications are sorted into folders. Please note that absolutely everything third party applications can be completely removed from the smartphone.

Downloaded wallpapers are beautiful and bright.

The operation of the status indicator can be adjusted.

The battery charge can be displayed as a percentage or simply graphically.

The screen can be awakened with a double-quick touch.

If the screen in this smartphone is too large for you, then you can select the mode for working with one hand.

Extensive smart scripts for various aspects of work.

Widgets are represented by a ticker at the bottom of the screen.

You can select the animation mode between desktop transitions.

The layout of the shortcuts on the screen is classic and built according to the 4x5 scheme.

You can use downloaded themes and change appearance desktops and shortcuts.

The recorder hasn't gone anywhere.

The radio only works when a headset is connected.

If you are confused about the settings, you can use the built-in tutorial.

A branded application from Lenovo, where we can: update the firmware, contact technical support. support, etc.

A telephone conversation can be recorded at any time.

Actually, these are the main and significant points for working with this smartphone.

IN WORK

Lenovo Vibe P1 is equipped with Snapdragon processor 615 is 8 cores: 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and 4 Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1GHz. GPU- Adreno 405, has a clock frequency of 550 MHz and is manufactured using 28 nm technology. As a rule, such processors are installed in smartphones of the middle price group.

The performance of this bundle is sufficient for all resource-intensive applications. And to begin with, I propose to get acquainted with the results of testing in synthetic applications.

Games such as: Modern Combat 5, Asphalt 8, GTA: San Andreas show good performance, in rare cases there may be micro-latencies gameplay, which do not affect the perception of the game as a whole.

Video playback in various formats and permission.

RAM in the smartphone 2GB. When downloading, we will have about 1.2GB left, which is pretty good.

Permanent built-in memory 32GB. The firmware and the system "eats" about 10 GB of disk space.

Micro SDXC memory cards are supported, the 128GB card itself worked fine.

All applications, including the cache from games, can be fully installed on a memory card. Simply put, a memory card can be used as the main memory of a smartphone.

Very pleased loud noise in a smartphone. The volume is very high and even in excess, the reserve is enough under any operating conditions, and in some cases the volume even has to be turned down. At full volume, the speaker does not flicker, the sound is not distorted.

The smartphone has GPS/GLONASS support. This screenshot shows that there are no problems with navigation. The first "cold" start takes no more than one minute.

For communication, two SIM-cards of the “nano” format are used. The settings are standard, but you can choose the forwarding function between two SIM cards. The radio module in our case is one. Although the smartphone has one microphone, this did not adversely affect speech transmission. Volume conversational speaker just as high.

Of course, it was not without support for the LTE standard.

You can access the network via 4G with any of the two SIM-cards. To do this, select the desired SIM card in the upper status bar. There, in the status bar, it is very convenient to track the consumed network traffic for each SIM card separately.

AUTONOMOUS WORK

So we got to the most interesting point in this review.

The battery in the smartphone has a capacity of as much as 5000 mAh. Usually well-known manufacturers mobile technology they don’t spoil their consumers with capacious batteries, but Lenovo destroys this stereotype too ...

However, let's see what the claimed 5000 mAh is capable of.

In the combined PCMark test, the battery is discharged from 100% to 20% in a long 14 hours.

Watching videos in HD resolution will empty the battery in 15 hours.

You can play 3D games for 10 hours without any break.

Listening to MP3 on headphones with the screen turned off stretches for a long 4 days.

If you use a smartphone purely for a small number of calls, then the charge will be exhausted on average in 6-7 days.

Long talk time reduces the operating time to 3 days.

Even with a constant connection to 4G and an active connection with a BT headset, a large number of calls and messages, this smartphone cannot be discharged in one day. And this is a very worthy indicator. Few other smartphones on the market can boast such a time. battery life.

Pay attention to how in these screenshots the battery is consumed in standby mode with a small amount of screen access time.

Deciding on the type of device (phone or smartphone?) is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to stop the choice on the phone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly less than that of a regular phone.

Before buying, check the characteristics and equipment with the seller.

Looking at new products from Lenovo, you always understand that the company is trying to take, if not a leading position on average. price segment, then definitely not the last. Indeed, new developments can please with all the same functionality as the eminent flagships of HTC, Samsung and LG of previous generations. The design also does not lag behind, although lately it has not always been original. And, of course, you can’t do without your zest, for example, in Lenovo Vibe P1 it is a capacious battery and a fingerprint scanner.

Machine external data

If you look at the smartphone from the side, most likely it will remind HTC One M8s. But if you take a closer look, you won’t be able to see a clear similarity: the design of the smartphone shows an assembly of everything that has only been seen in a variety of smartphones over the past year or two. In general, no frills are striking, only the presence of a physical “home” button is surprising. Everyone who follows the progress of the company could have already noted that in most devices the buttons are touch-sensitive. This time to this decision resorted to due to the fact that the physical button is a fingerprint sensor. Other interesting and much more useful features include a metal back and a 5.5-inch display protected by a third-generation gorilla.

Technical features

It is impossible not to rejoice at the fact that all devices of medium price category Chinese-made are equipped with two SIM cards and good displays. lenovo vibe p1 was no exception: it uses an IPS LCD display with 1080 resolution and two slots for SIM cards. Another strong feature is the eight-core Qualcomm processor 615. RAM - 2 GB, built-in - as much as 32. Of course, there is an expansion slot that supports cards up to 128 GB. There are two cameras - 5 and 13 megapixels, they provide good image quality. Thus, the performance is enough for almost any task. It is important that the work is provided by a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh. It should be noted separately that when using such a large capacity, the dimensions of the device were kept within adequate limits by today's standards: the thickness of the device is only 9.9 mm. According to the manufacturer, when using a smartphone in normal mode, the charge will last for 81 hours. There is a fast charging function, which is very handy, given the large capacity of the battery.

Good telephone

We cannot name the external Lenovo view VIBE P1m is attractive, but still its design claims some kind of its own, certain originality. The smartphone fits comfortably in the hand, but the thickness of its body is well felt in the palm of your hand. Dimensions Lenovo VIBE P1m - 141 × 71.8 × 9.8 mm (in the lens area, the thickness reaches 10.2 mm), weight - 152 grams. Although it looks compact for a 4000 mAh battery carrier, the comparison with other smartphones is no longer in its favor. In terms of dimensions, the phone is comparable to the Lenovo A5000, and in terms of weight it is lighter than the 5-inch Huawei Honor 4C and the flagship HTC One M9.

From the front, Lenovo VIBE P1m looks typical and is little different from the same Lenovo A6010 - rounded corners, separate keys under the screen and camera-sensor eyes with a speaker grille above it. The side faces of the smartphone are decorated with a strip of plastic painted in metallic color. The location of the power and volume keys is standard - on the top right. Unusually, the presence of a separate lever-key on the left, with its help, you can switch to power saving mode. But this idea is not new and has already been implemented, for example, in Philips smartphones Xenium series (if you take the same Philips Xenium W6610). A curious detail - Lenovo VIBE P1m received protection against splashes and drops of water in the form of a coating using P2i technology. But this does not mean complete water protection, just the device will not become unusable if you accidentally spill water on your smartphone. However, by and large, this is true for most other phones. The frames around the screen are quite large - the ratio of the screen area to the surface is about 68%. On the lower edge, you can find two holes stylized as stereo speakers, but the sound comes from only one of them. Under the other, most likely, a microphone is hidden. The back of the smartphone looks unusual, but its design is highly dependent on color - in black it is textured, like the Lenovo A6010, and in white it is smooth. The camera was decorated with an oval-shaped textured plastic insert that wraps around the lens and the backlight LED.

The body of the smartphone is collapsible, it is assembled from durable polycarbonate, the build quality is average. Everything would be fine, but the lid of our sample did not fit very tightly and slightly played around one of the corners.

Smartphone Lenovo VIBE P1m can be bought in two colors - Onyx Black (or just black) and White Pearl (white).

Screen - 3.9

The 5-inch Lenovo VIBE P1m display is of average quality, in this price range (18-20 thousand rubles) there are better screens.

The type of matrix used is IPS, the screen resolution is 1280 × 720 pixels, unfortunately, there is no special protective glass or oleophobic coating here. The screen is easily smudged with fingerprints and difficult to wipe off afterwards.

The image looks sharp enough - after all, the pixel density is 294 per inch. Viewing angles can even be called good. The brightness range is better than average - from 12 to 427 cd / m 2 (much better than, for example, Asus Zenfone 2 Laser). In sunny weather, reading from the screen is a little difficult, and at night it slightly blinds the eyes. In the screen settings, you can turn on auto-brightness, it works quickly, but, in our opinion, it saves battery power too much - the image looks dull with it. Image contrast is low - 680:1, at the level of Microsoft Lumia 550. Little color gamut at same sRGB and covers 96% of it. The color temperature is far from ideal - 8200, which makes the picture on the screen look cold. But in general, the deviations in colors were small, which pleases. It is a pity that the phone does not support operation with gloves, and there are no image quality adjustments in the screen settings.

Camera

Lenovo VIBE P1m is equipped with 8 and 5 MP cameras, respectively. The image quality is average for its resolution and low for the price of a smartphone.

The maximum photo resolution is 3264 × 2448, there is a flash (LED backlight) and autofocus. In terms of modes and effects, everything is typical, even minimalistic - there is an HDR mode (increasing the detail of objects in shadows), shooting panoramas and four effects ("sepia", "negative", "monochrome" and "under water"), that's all. Such a set can be called more than modest. It's good that at least you can turn off the annoying shutter sound when taking a picture.

As for the quality of photos, it is average for its resolution. You can take a photo of the text of the document or take a passing frame, but you should not hope for more. Detail is good for 8 MP, but the camera is noticeably “noisy” even during the day, the HDR mode is of little use, and panoramas are shot only with low detail (as if they were stitched together from low-resolution photos). Night photos are dark, the camera has a clearly low light sensitivity. For example, where more or less bright photos are obtained on the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser, only “darkness with noise” is visible on the Lenovo VIBE P1m.

It looks a little strange, but the main camera of the smartphone does not shoot Full HD video (although the cheaper Lenovo A6010 can), the maximum available resolution is 1280 × 720 pixels (at 25 frames per second). It looks strange, considering that the processor in VIBE P1m is purely technically capable of shooting in Full HD.

The 5 MP front camera is good for selfies. For video calls, in principle, too, although the resolution of the video is not regulated and initially equal to 640 × 480 pixels - not enough.

Working with text - 3.0

Lenovo is in no hurry to draw its own keyboard and always use the standard one from Google. It looks like a light gray panel with a set of characters not separated by borders. Working with such a keyboard is quite convenient. It has support for continuous input (Swype) and a separate key for switching between languages. At the same time, there is no markup of additional characters on it, only numbers on top row keyboard icons.

Internet - 4.0

Lenovo VIBE P1m comes with UC Browser and Google Chrome. The first, in our opinion, is very functional - there is a search, a separate reading mode, access to adjusting the brightness of the display, bookmarks and traffic settings. But in Google Chrome, you can synchronize the history of downloaded pages and bookmarks with the desktop version of the browser.

Communications - 2.6

In terms of wireless communications, Lenovo VIBE P1m can only please with support for LTE and USB On-The-Go, otherwise this is a typical set:

  • regular Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n with the ability to distribute the Internet
  • LTE (bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20)
  • Bluetooth 4.1, A2DP profile supported
  • A-GPS with GLONASS support
  • FM radio requires headphones to work.

On top of the case there are Micro-USB 2.0 and Mini-jack connectors for connecting a headset. There are three slots under the cover, two for a MicroSIM card and one for a memory card. The USB connector supports OTG for connecting external devices.

Multimedia - 3.2

Lenovo VIBE P1m only supports the most common audio formats. So, it does not play FLAC, WMAV2 and AC-3. With video, the situation is better, he did not cope only with MPG, RMVB and some MKV videos.

The phone initially has music players "Music", "Guvera Music" and the usual " Google Play Music". In the first case, this is a simple application with a minimum of settings, such as displaying texts. The last two are music services with their own players, in the paid version of which you can listen to songs offline. On the Lenovo VIBE P1m, you can find two video players - the standard "Video Player" and UC Video. The first one does not have any unusual opportunities. The second has features like fast rewind, volume and brightness adjustments by “swiping” across the screen.

Battery - 4.3

The battery life of Lenovo VIBE P1m is one of the best among smartphones we have tested. We calmly had enough of it for one and a half to two days of work. The key to high results was a capacious 4000 mAh battery and a rather weak filling.

When watching HD video at maximum brightness (“Airplane” mode), the smartphone lasted 10.5 hours, which is a little more than. When listening to music Lenovo VIBE P1m lasted 105 hours, which is comparable to the results of LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P. An hour of running the GeekBench Battery Test with a muted screen "ate" only 6% of the charge, while this best result, which we generally saw (again, the combination of a capacious battery and a weak processor affects). In games, the smartphone will last for 5-6 hours - an hour of playing Minions drained the battery by only 16%.

Lenovo VIBE P1m is expected to take a long time to charge using charger from the kit (on 2A) - it took us a little more than three hours. Separately, we note the power saving mode, which can be activated with a switch button, in which you go to a simplified black and white system interface with access only to the main functions of the smartphone.

Performance - 1.8

Lenovo VIBE P1m can be assessed as a smartphone with low, and even low performance, but it is enough for smooth operation in everyday use.

The model uses a 64-bit processor entry level MTK MediaTek MT6735P - four cores (clocked at 1 GHz), we saw the same in Lenovo A2010. The Mali-T720 accelerator is responsible for the graphics. The amount of RAM is 2 GB, standard for the price tag on the device. In daily use, the smartphone runs quite smoothly and without any obvious slowdowns. Simple games like Angry Birds or Minion Rush run without problems and freezes, but something heavier is already starting to noticeably slow down. For example, Asphalt 8 starts up smoothly, and you can even play at low graphics settings, but the picture still twitches constantly. In benchmarks, Lenovo VIBE P1m shows good results due to the large amount of RAM:

  • GeekBench 3 - 1326 points (Asus Zenfone 2 Laser scores a hundred better)
  • AnTuTu 6 - 24,041 (Comparable to Lenovo VIBE Z2)
  • 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited - up to 3069 (Lenovo A6010 - 4334).

We also decided to check if the smartphone heats up during use. But you can be calm, there is no overheating and never will be. 30 minutes of playing "Minions" heated the back of the device to only 36.4 degrees.

Memory - 4.0

Built-in volume Lenovo memory VIBE P1m is 16 GB, of which 11.1 GB is available. For its expansion, there is a slot for a microSD card (up to 32 GB). It can be installed and changed without rebooting the device ("hot swap"). Separately, we note that not all applications are transferred to the card, and most of the pre-installed ones cannot be deleted.

Peculiarities

Lenovo VIBE P1m has several features - these are LTE support and two SIM-cards, a slot for a memory card and a separate key to switch to power saving mode. But the most important thing is a capacious battery that provides the device with high autonomy.

The phone is running Android systems version 5.1 and proprietary interface. While there is no exact data on whether the smartphone will receive an update to Android 6. The Lenovo VIBE P1m has quite a few applications pre-installed, for example, for social networks(Facebook, Vkontakte, Twitter, Skype), free WPS Office, File Explorer, and Lenovo Companion Mobile ( technical support, diagnostics, checking for updates, etc.).
