The purchase was the result of another long and painful suffering on the topic of "the optimal set of gadgets." This year I have to move to study in relatively warm European regions for a couple of years, from which there are several consequences. It is possible to wear Note 5 in the pocket of trousers in the warm season (see story), but this process does not cause enthusiasm, I wanted something smaller. For lecture notes, an iPad Pro with a stylus was bought, after which there was a desire to unify the zoo of ecosystems and return to the iPhone. The budget allowed you to take everything, including the basic 7 Plus, but, as usual, the toad intervened.
"Pros" (at least, and) did not want to take, because:
a) expensive
b) and so there is an iPad;
c) they are healthy (unjustifiably, in my opinion, Note 5 is smaller with a larger diagonal);
d) the only type of crime common in the future place of residence is pickpocketing, so I didn’t really want to buy an expensive device with the risk of losing it.
The usual seven for its current 36-37 thousand looked quite a good option, but to the toad it seemed like too much waste. But at the same time, from the point of view of all sorts of synthetic benchmarks, in terms of the ruble of money, it probably destroys plus / minus almost everything that is on the market.
What's not to like? Weak sides, limitations.
The camera performance in the dark is worse compared to both the Nexus 5X and the Note 5 . They have a physically larger matrix, and the second one also has an optical stabilizer, in poor lighting conditions this gives a fundamental difference in quality. But I was quite ready for this. Another question is that the color reproduction quality of , for my taste, is better than both of the devices listed above. And I don’t believe in the harsh post-processing of photos from the phone, pulling out RAW "s in Lightroom", etc. - this kills the whole idea of mobile photography.
What do you miss in it?
From realistic Wishlist - quick start camera by double-clicking a button, like on the Nexus 5X and Samsung. In summer, this is not very important, although it would still be more convenient, but in winter it allows you to keep your gloves on. Otherwise, everything fits perfectly into the concept of reasonable sufficiency. Of the slightly less realistic ones, it would be great to get moisture protection, but, probably, this is not so easy to do on the current chassis.

In my opinion, the iPad 2017 are two great devices from Apple in terms of price and features. As I already said, I don’t understand whining about design reuse.
