    Types of batteries for alarms and their characteristics

    Depending on the type of key fob (main, with a display, or auxiliary, without a screen), different types of batteries can be used in the device:

    • special class 27A batteries;
    • lithium batteries 2032;
    • batteries 2025.

    Special batteries

    Description of the main technical parameters class 27A devices:

    • battery length is 2.8 cm, diameter is 0.8 cm;
    • the weight of a suitable charge device, regardless of voltage, varies in the region of 7-12 grams;
    • the parameter of the nominal capacity consumed by the battery is 20 mAh;
    • devices belong to the class of 12-volt batteries;
    • The operating temperature range of the batteries is from -30 to +70 degrees on average.

    The channel "Gatherings at Lehi" briefly spoke about the characteristics and parameters of batteries for alarms related to the A27 standard.

    Lithium batteries 2032

    Basic parameters of devices for remote control"signals" of the car 2032:

    Signs of need for replacement

    The following “symptoms” will indicate that the batteries for the alarm key fob are out of order or are working at the discharge stage:

    • when sending commands, the user has to press the control buttons harder;
    • the LED on the device began to burn in a dimmer color;
    • key fob keys do not respond to pressing;
    • on the screen of the remote control, the icon in the form of a discharge of the power source lit up.

    Similar symptoms of malfunctions, when the key fob does not work, may appear when the vehicle enters the interference zone.

    How to install or replace the battery

    In Starline car alarm communicators and other systems, batteries are installed and replaced by removing the back cover of the remote control with a display. Depending on the manufacturer, a Phillips or flat-tip screwdriver may be required for removal. After removal, the power supply is installed or the old one is removed and replaced with a working one.

    If the vehicle is equipped with an engine lock, the replacement procedure will be different. We are talking directly about the keys in which the control key is built.

    The process of replacing batteries for the alarm key fob:

    1. We need to deploy the device. If the remote control is equipped with a plastic switch, it must be moved to the side. Then the metal ignition key is turned off. In the case of a conventional communicator, you need to remove the back cover - to do this, it is disconnected or the bolt that fixes it is unscrewed.
    2. Using a screwdriver, you need to insert the tip of the tool into the groove where the key was located. Without much effort, one half of the communicator is separated from the other. In the case of a conventional remote control, the battery is simply pry off with a screwdriver and removed. In the absence of a tool, you can use a coin or a manicure file. During dismantling, be careful not to damage the contacts in the connector.
    3. Then you need to insert into the device new element nutrition. All actions are carried out in the reverse order of removal. When installing, polarity must be taken into account, that is, the “positive” contact is connected to the positive, and the “minus” to the negative. Then the back cover is installed in place.

    The New MosKow channel showed in detail an example of replacing power supplies in smart car keys.

    What influences the lifespan

    The service life of batteries for alarm does not depend on the type of anti-theft system and its power. This parameter is affected only by the frequency of use of the remote control.

    The service life of an alarm battery depends not only on its manufacturer, but also on other factors:

    1. operating conditions. Power supplies are usually resistant to temperature changes and severe frost. But to increase the service life, it is recommended to use batteries in moderate climatic conditions.
    2. Intensity of exploitation. If the remote control with a display is used for the initial setting of the alarm, then the battery will drain faster.
    3. Application additional options anti-theft systems. If the user uses multiple alarm functions, the battery will run out faster.

    Modern security systems offer users the ability to control not only anti-theft options, but also other processes in the car. In practice, in alarm key fobs that use the autorun function, the power supply is discharged faster.

    The quality of the power supply depends largely on the suppliers. When buying, it is necessary to take into account the selection criteria, as well as the features of individual manufacturers.

    Options

    Nuances that must be considered before purchasing a battery for an alarm:

    1. Type of power supply. Batteries can be manganese, lithium, and lithium-manganese. Older anti-theft key fobs often use alkaline devices.
    2. Product class. We are talking about varieties of batteries: penlight, tablet or special.
    3. Value rated voltage. This parameter is measured in volts and, depending on the power source, can be from 1.5 to 12 V. For 3 V devices, two 1.5 V batteries are allowed. Such batteries are usually used in additional communicators that are not equipped with a liquid crystal display .
    4. Charge capacity level. Measured in ampere-hours.
    5. Discharge current value. This parameter is measured in amperes, this value is intended to determine the moment at which the battery will receive the capacity declared by the manufacturer. Some manufacturers do not indicate this parameter, but only mark the resistance on the package.
    6. Maximum discharge current. This refers to the amount at which the user can safely discharge the battery for a long time. Under such conditions, the device will not overheat, its base will not be damaged, and the electrolyte will not leave the battery. Instead, manufacturers sometimes specify a minimum load resistance value.
    7. Discharge pulse current level. This parameter allows you to determine at what current a short-term discharge of the battery is possible. If the product is of high quality, then this value should be no more than 2-3 seconds.
    8. The value of internal resistance. This parameter allows you to calculate the efficiency of using the device at a certain amount of current. Manufacturers may not indicate this value on the packaging. Accordingly, the higher the value, the higher the efficiency of the device when operating under heavy loads.
    9. Packaging integrity. It is not recommended to purchase devices if it is violated.
    10. No battery damage. In the presence of defects, the guarantee that the device will fully work out the service life declared by the manufacturer is lost.

    User Max Kryukov talked about how you can check the operation of alarm batteries before buying using the example of CR2032 class devices.

    Manufacturers

    Brands that produce batteries for alarms:

    1. Duracell. The batteries of this manufacturer effectively cope with their tasks at temperatures from -20 to +54 degrees Celsius. With regular loads in a temperate climate, the average service life of power supplies is about 450 hours. The resistance in this case should be 6.5 kOhm. If this parameter is increased to 15 kΩ, then the battery life will be approximately 1100 hours.
    2. Energizer. The battery manufacturer claims that the nominal capacity of its products is 240 mAh. In practice, with a resistance of 15 kOhm, the battery life fluctuates around 1150 hours. The manufacturer produces power supplies of different classes.
    3. GP. The temperature of operation and storage of batteries varies in the range from -30 to +65 degrees. Under such conditions, the nominal capacity of the devices will be about 210 mAh. The service life of the batteries at an air temperature of 23 degrees and a resistance of 15 kOhm will be no more than 1100 hours.
    4. Maxell. Devices of this brand are made in a protected hermetic case. The average service life is about 1000 hours, subject to a load of 15 kOhm and a temperature of +21 degrees.
    5. Panasonic. The service life of the batteries is the same as in the case of Maxell products. In practice, power supplies effectively cope with their tasks at -30 degrees. It is advisable to use Panasonic batteries at temperatures not exceeding +60.
    6. Renata. According to the manufacturer, the main feature of these batteries is an extensive temperature range from -40 to +85 degrees. When operating in moderate climatic conditions, the service life will be no more than 1200 hours.

    How much do alarm batteries cost?

    You can buy power supplies for about the following prices:

    Video

    Channel "Best China" presented short review CR2025 batteries purchased from China.

    The life of a modern person is very closely connected with a variety of electrical things: be it a portable radio, telephone, flashlight, navigator, camera, and much more! The main thing that unites all of them is that their operation requires power sources: various batteries and accumulators.

    Video version of the article:

    Let's talk about some ways to revive dead batteries!

    They naturally often sit down, which in turn can deprive us of the chance to use them. And not just in ordinary and calm situations when we can solve the problem by recharging from the network or by purchasing new battery, but also when you are, for example, on a hike or are in a situation where your life is in danger!

    Revival of "finger" batteries.

    1 wayfor sure, many people know it consists in impacting the battery with blows (leave it against the wall, gently tap it with a hammer!) This can return some charge, because in this way the oxides that have arisen in the battery are destroyed and it will last for some time. From the experience of childhood, one can also note a more radical impact, the crushing of the battery (with a multi-tool, if any) in its different parts (someone even uses their teeth and simply bites the battery, which of course we do not recommend).

    2 . Battery piercing different ways in different places so that the puncture sites do not touch the inner rod. You can pierce randomly, you can make a couple of punctures along the rod at some distance from it, or pierce across the plus and minus, this will already give an effect to itself, air will connect to the internal processes in the batteries and form an additional electrode.

    3. You can also boil our batteries in boiling water (several minutes).

    4. There is also another option to make holes and fill them with water, from a syringe or something else, so that the water does not flow out, close the holes with electrical tape or whatever is at hand.

    Revitalizing coin cell batteries

    1. Recharging from a finger battery, we need two wires and a working finger battery, we will connect (with wires) plus to plus, and minus to minus our batteries, and hold them like that for a while.
