How to remove the cover from a laptop?

During the operation of a laptop, sometimes it becomes necessary to open its cover in order to clean or replace a failed element. Removing the laptop lid is quite simple if you follow the instructions. In our article we will tell you how to remove the cover from a laptop.

Before you start removing the cover, you need to prepare the following tools and materials:

  • suitable screwdriver;
  • saucer for screws;
  • paper;
  • handle.

Removing the cover

In order to remove the laptop cover, you must follow the instructions:

  1. Close all programs and turn off your laptop. If it is connected to the network, pull the plug from the network and unplug the cord from the laptop.
  2. Disconnect everything from the laptop external devices: flash drives, modems, various cables.
  3. Close your laptop.
  4. Turn the laptop upside down.
  5. Remove the battery.
  6. Using a screwdriver, unscrew all the screws, try not to press hard so as not to damage the threads on the caps. If they are of different sizes, and you are afraid to confuse their location, write down on a piece of paper where and which screw should be.
  7. After all the screws have been removed, remove the laptop cover. It should be remembered that you can remove the back cover of the laptop, but you need to start from the top. If you feel a slight resistance during removal, press the bottom of the cover and pull it slightly towards you.

If the laptop cover is not fixed with screws, then you need to find a locking latch with which you can open the back cover of the laptop. Slide it until it stops, and with the other hand, gently press on the cover. Remove it from the laptop case without making sudden movements and without applying any effort.

Notebook HP Pavilion g6 has excellent characteristics of the gaming model. But, despite the high quality of HP products, it also needs regular maintenance. One of the models in this series, 1232sr, has been repaired.

At startup, the laptop gave a system warning about the error of the fan (cooler) of the cooling system - System Fan (90B). Continuing work with such a failure, with a high probability, will result in overheating of the elements and breakdown of the laptop.

To eliminate the malfunction, it is necessary to inspect and, if necessary, clean the fan. But to get to it, the laptop needs to be disassembled.

Workplace preparation

Before you begin, prepare a lining of foam rubber, thick fabric or cardboard to fit the laptop so that you do not leave scratches on the top cover during disassembly. Remove excess from the desktop and wipe it. Can be put Blank sheet paper, on which it will then be convenient to fold the screws, recording their location in the laptop case.

Stock up on a small magnet that will help you get the screw that has fallen inside the case. Prepare a clean paint brush with medium bristles, screwdrivers of the required size and shape, and a vacuum cleaner. You will also need medical alcohol, cotton swabs and some thermal paste.

When separating the two halves of a laptop, metal tools leave scratches and nicks, so for this operation it is convenient to use a tool made of thick plastic, such as an unwanted plastic ATM card.

Be sure to take care of good lighting, the best option is daylight.

Disassembly order

Disassembling the HP-g6 laptop must begin with the obligatory disconnection of the battery. Then you need to unscrew the two screws of the cover covering HDD and RAM slots.

Remove the cover, now you need to turn off and remove the hard drive. There is a “tail” on the cable connector for its safe disconnection, we pull it. We lift the disconnected disk and remove it from the seat.

Set it aside on a soft cloth. Contact hard drive Caution - shock or damage will result in data loss or damage, which is often impossible to repair.

Now let's remove the DVD drive. To do this, unscrew one screw, with a slight effort pull the drive housing until it comes out of the connector. Further, the drive freely leaves the seat.

Well, we got to the next step, in which you need to remove the keyboard. The keyboard is held in place by seven latches, five on the top and two on the sides. Press the latch with a screwdriver and lift up the keyboard. It is difficult to release only the first latch, so start from the corner.

Place the released keyboard in a vertical position to gain access to the cable. Lift the connector bar up, disconnect the cable and set the keyboard aside.

The removed keyboard opened up access to three more loops, which now need to be disabled. The design of the connectors is the same - to turn it off, you need to raise the bar up. Remove two more screws securing the top cover.

Now it's time to separate the body parts and remove top cover. We do this from the corner, using a plastic tool, so as not to leave notches on the body.

A few simple steps will help remove the laptop screen.

Disconnect the matrix connector, it is located on the left. Disconnect the USB connector cable and the power connector located under it. Freeing the wires wifi antennas, unscrew the four screws on the hinges of the screen.

We put the removed screen aside, cover the surface of the matrix with a folded newspaper to protect it from accidental damage.

It remains only to disconnect the two connectors at the bottom left and unscrew one screw, insidiously covered with a cable.

system board nothing else holds. We remove it by lifting it by the right edge and turn it over to inspect the cooling system.

To remove the heatsink with a fan, unscrew the seven screws and disconnect the connection connector.

Note!

The fan housing is fixed to the board with adhesive tape. When removing the cooling system, be careful not to break the edge of the system board.

After dismantling the cooling, you need to remove the remnants of thermal paste from the surfaces of the microcircuits and the heatsink and reapply fresh. It is convenient to remove hardened thermal paste with a swab dipped in medical alcohol.

Troubleshooting

Finally, we got to the fan that causes an error when the system boots. Let's figure it out. To do this, unscrew the two screws and unfasten the latches of the metal cover.

And here is the reason - a rolled up ball of dust jammed the fan. It is necessary to clean out all the dust using a brush and a vacuum cleaner.

Be careful with the fan blades, they can be broken if you force them too hard. Then the fan will lose balance, start to make noise and vibrate during operation. Here you can not avoid buying a new fan, and for HP-g6 it is not cheap.

When reassembling the laptop, pay attention to the length of the screws. On the body, next to the seat, the manufacturer made special notes.

Disassembling and cleaning the HP Pavilion g6 laptop:

Proper disassembly, cleaning and assembly of the HP Pavilion g6 laptop:

Disassembly and inspection of the HP Pavilion g6 laptop:

In this article, you will learn about the intricacies of disassembling HP-Pavilion-G6 laptops. To disassemble the Pavilion-G6 laptop successfully and without complications, use the tips from this manual to help you disassemble correctly and efficiently.
HP creates good electronic equipment, but like all other gadgets, the HP-Pavilion laptop can break down.

The components and components of the laptop are accessible and easily replaceable. To get inside the HP-Pavilion g-6 laptop system, to clean dust, replace any board or change thermal paste, you will need to open the case. It should be remembered that disassembling a laptop is a quivering business, it does not tolerate haste or missteps, so be patient, set aside an hour of time so that no one bothers you, and you can get down to business using the instructions below.
The first thing to do is to remove the battery from the laptop (those who are not particularly patient in disassembling may not remove it). This is the easiest step, but it needs to be done first.
Now you need a screwdriver to unscrew the screws securing the laptop case. Flip the device over to expose the rear plastic compartment that covers the main components responsible for the operation of the computer.
When the screws are unscrewed, you can remove the cover, under which you will immediately find a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive, a RAM card (4 Gb DDR3), a network access card and a CMOS element that provides power for Bios.
To remove the hard drive, you need to remove it from the latches. This is done by gently pressing the hard drive housing with a shift to the left side. You will feel when the latches release it. Then remove the memory card by loosening the locking latches, after which it will easily slide out for removal.

Now we withdraw DVD drive. The bolt that holds it can be easily identified visually. We also carefully unscrew it so as not to damage the adjacent parts, and effortlessly pull out the DVD-Rom.
Be careful, if the drive does not want to come out, inspect carefully if all the bolts are unscrewed, one of which is quietly located near the network access card.
After removing all the most important parts, you can proceed to remove the keyboard. Its fastening system is quite simple, but it requires a little dexterity and patience to pull the keyboard out without damage. HP-Pavilion laptop G6. In total, the keyboard on this laptop is held by five latches, which are located on the top of the keyboard.
To work, you need a flat screwdriver, which you need to press down on the latch and slightly raise the dial. In this arrangement, the clip does not block the keyboard. It is necessary to repeat this procedure with all the clamps, and when they are disconnected, you can slowly unfold the dial and disconnect the cable on the main board.

We can assume that half the job is done, and now you should unscrew all the screws on the laptop case.
It is necessary to disconnect other cables that opened in the place where the keyboard was.
Now we open the HP-Pavilion G6 laptop case. Use a plastic card or other narrow object to carefully pry the top compartment open. Now you will have access to batteries, coolers, USB ports and other elements on the main board.
As you can see, you can disassemble the HP-Pavilion G6 laptop yourself, but be careful not to damage the fragile chips. Now you can replace parts, clean the insides of dust or replace the thermal paste.

Overheat- one of the three most common "ordinary" problems of all laptops. It happens due to the fact that the laptop cooling system becomes clogged with dust over time, preventing hot air from escaping from the case.

If your laptop, after some time after turning it on, starts to get very hot, make noise, slow down, or even turn off abruptly - all these are heralds that you urgently need clean your laptop from dust and change thermal paste.

You can contact Computer service, but you can try to do prevention on one's own.

All that is needed for this is a couple of simple, affordable tools, and a certain amount of accuracy and care. Well, some kind of algorithm for disassembling a laptop, which I will explain to you in this article on my computer blog.

Overheating begins to appear after 1-5 years of using a laptop, depending on the model and conditions of use. But, sooner or later, it will come, because over time, a layer of cosmic dust slowly but surely accumulates on the laptop fan.

I'll try to make my own subjective TOP Hottest laptop models:

  1. HP, especially models , Dv6,G7
  2. ASUS
  3. ACER
  4. SONY
  5. Lenovo
  6. SAMSUNG
  7. DELL
  8. TOSHIBA

I already wrote an article about how, as well as how fast and free.

We will assume that you overheating problem diagnosed. That is, they did a temperature test, and found out that under load the temperature of the processor and video card of your laptop rises to 90 degrees or more.

But it was all theory and diagnostics. Now we will be engaged in practice and directly repair - do-it-yourself disassembly and cleaning of the laptop from dust.

Disassembling a laptop- not such a simple task as it might seem at first glance to a person who has never "opened" his laptop.

If in most system units, to access the "insides" you need to unscrew 2 screws and slide the cover, then in laptops everything is much more complicated.

There are many laptop manufacturers, each with hundreds of different models, and they are all understood in different ways. Somewhere you just need to remove the bottom cover. For example, this is exactly the case with . And somewhere, in order to get to the motherboard and remove the cooling system for cleaning and replacing thermal paste, you need to completely disassemble the laptop case, “down to the bolt”.

But general algorithm for disassembling a laptop is usually always the same. In short, you need to unscrew all the screws, disconnect all the cables, connectors, and open all the latches.

How to independently disassemble any laptop and clean it from dust - a universal instruction.

Below I have drawn a laptop device with the designations of all the details, so that it would be easier for you to navigate when reading this article.

1. Disconnect the battery

First of all, always disconnect the battery. Disassembling a laptop under power can ruin your laptop with a bolt accidentally dropped on the motherboard. So the first thing we do is take it out.

On some laptops, the battery is inside the case, such as . Before turning it off, be doubly careful not to short anything.

2. Unscrew all visible bolts on the bottom.

Pay attention to their length and thickness. If they are the same, don't worry. If some come across longer / shorter - remember / sketch where they were twisted.

3. Remove all caps on the bottom, and unscrew all the bolts under them

We remove all small covers on the bottom of the laptop (RAM, hard drive), unscrew all the screws, put them in the next pile. Disconnect all connectors, if any.

You may not have such caps; the bottom of the case may be solid. Don't be scared - go to the 5th step.

4. Turn off the Wi-Fi module, hard drive, RAM, DVD.

For turn off Wi-Fi module, first remove the 2 antennas from it by pulling them perpendicular to the module. Remember where it was. Then unscrew the bolt that secures it and pull the module out of the slot.

Having unscrewed the hard drive, we look at how it is connected. You can remove it either by sliding it away from the connector, or by disconnecting the flexible wiring by pulling on it.

RAM, as a rule, does not need to be removed. But you can remove it and clean its contacts with an eraser.

At this stage, most often it is already possible to remove the DVD-ROM by slowly pulling on it.

The removable keyboard is easy to distinguish - it is, as it were, "blocky", i.e. does not form one whole with the rest of the body.

If you have made sure that your keyboard is sewn into the upper part of the laptop (Sony, ASUS 500 series) - go to step 8.

6. If the keyboard is removed, remove it.

Do not forget that from the keyboard to the laptop motherboard goes plume, so after removing it, do not rush to pull it, but first lift and disconnect this cable.

Most often to remove the keyboard you need to carefully pry it with a pick or a spatula, and open all the latches around the perimeter.

It happens that before this you need to first remove socket above or under the clave.

On some laptops, another unpleasant surprise may await you - the keyboard is optional sticks to glue. In this case, carefully pry it off with a ruler / spatula / screwdriver, and, gradually lifting it, peel it off.

7. We unscrew all visible bolts under the keyboard, take out all cables and connectors

There are several basic types of loops. They all unfasten differently. Some lift up, some tuck in, some stretch.

I will try to systematize them in one of the following articles on the site.

Sometimes at this point you will need to pull long wires from the wi-fi adapter through the case.

8. Gently “open” the laptop from the side around the perimeter, and remove the top cover

For me, it is most convenient to use a guitar pick for this, preferably thicker - 0.8-1 mm.

Also, sometimes, a spatula helps out:

Having passed along the perimeter with a mediator and snapping off all the latches, we carefully try to lift the lid. If it does not give in, we check once again whether all the screws are unscrewed. If it still doesn't work, check again.

Forces are not required! And an unscrewed screw often turns out to be imperceptibly recessed into the case, or hidden under a rubber stand at the bottom of the laptop.

The motherboard can be attached both to the bottom of the laptop case (most often) and to the top (as Sony Vaio does). Be careful and don't rush.

9. Unscrew the remaining screws and disconnect the connectors, remove the motherboard

We look at which cables go to the motherboard, pull them all out.

Sometimes, in order to remove the motherboard, you have to completely unscrew and remove the top of the laptop with the screen.

10. Remove the cooling system from the board

The screws on the radiator are usually marked with numbers - we unscrew and tighten in the order of these numbers, so as not to accidentally damage the chip by skew.

We work very carefully here - a screwdriver can easily slip off and knock down some element on the motherboard.

Having unscrewed all the bolts, carefully pry off the cooling system, if it doesn’t work, you can turn it a little in its plane. We try not to tear the thermal rubber bands, if any.

11. Disassemble and clean the laptop fan from dust

Actually, this is the most important step. laptop disassembly. It is now, in fact, that “cleaning the laptop from dust” will take place.

Usually, to disassemble the cooling system, you need to unscrew a few small screws on it, and tear off a piece of cloth / adhesive tape, “turning” the fan out.

We see the dust accumulated on the radiator grill - remove it with a brush, blow it. Congratulations! The laptop is cleaned) But that's not all.

12. We remove the old one, smear the new thermal paste

We remove the old thermal paste from the places where it was, on the chips on the motherboard, and on the cooling system. You can remove the thermal paste with a dry cloth and cotton swabs. If there is, you can moisten them in alcohol, at the same time take them inside 🙂

Often, instead of thermal paste, you can see thermal pads. It is very desirable if they remain intact - it is rather difficult to find them on sale, only to order. If this gum is badly torn, most likely it is already “non-working”, you will have to look for it and change it. Or smear a layer of thermal paste. But I don't recommend doing that. Change! Thermal pads are usually placed on elements that do not have a temperature sensor and overheat protection, and your laptop may suddenly “die” while showing normal temperature on the processor and video card.

Applying new thermal paste. How to smear? The thinnest possible layer. Thermal paste is needed not to cover the entire surface of the chip, but to smooth surface irregularities.

I will write a short review about various thermal pastes in one of the following articles on the site.

And in this video on my YouTube channel you can see how to apply thermal paste using the Pavillion G6 laptop as an example.

13. We assemble in the reverse order.

We assemble - just as we disassembled, carefully checking at each stage whether all the connectors are in their connectors. In theory, there should not be “extra, empty” (but they can be).

It is desirable that there are no extra bolts left, but if it remains, it’s not scary! 😉 The main thing is that the bolts in the area of \u200b\u200bthe loops are screwed in - otherwise the laptop will fall apart over time.

14. Doing a temperature test - rejoice! 🙂

Thermal paste needs some time to evenly spread under the pressure of the plate. So its maximum efficiency is achieved after a couple of days of using the laptop.

Tips, subtleties when disassembling a laptop yourself

  • Collect the screws from each stage of disassembly in separate piles - this way you will not be mistaken which screw is from where, and you will not have any extra ones left.
  • Use the Internet - almost every, or similar, laptop model has detailed photos and video disassembly instructions!
  • Do not use force - if something “does not work”, double-check 10 times whether you have unscrewed everything, turned it off. When in doubt, go online.
  • Be careful and careful, do not rush.

Results

So, from this article you have learned how to disassemble and clean your laptop from dust.

The first time, it may be difficult, but the second, I assure you, it will be much easier! After all, neural connections in your brain will already be established. 😉

Good luck to all! Any questions left - ask! 😉

Why does the HP Pavilion G6-2323sr get very hot and noisy? Everything is simple! The problem of any laptop, yes, by the way, of any portable equipment, is small heat dissipation channels, which eventually become dirty and clogged with dust. Due to the limited space and lack of heat output (dust build-up) from the laptop, the temperature inside the equipment rises. As a result, it starts to get very hot. To prevent the system from overheating, which can damage the laptop components, the cooling fan begins to work hard to remove heat. Because of this, the noise level increases.

To eliminate such defects, mechanical cleaning of the cooling system is required. And the usual vacuuming of the radiator holes on the laptop case in the vast majority of cases does not bring a positive effect. Therefore, further on specific example Let's take a look at how the HP Pavilion G6-2323sr is disassembled and then cleaned from dust. At the same time, we will replace the thermal paste to improve the thermal conductivity of the “bottleneck” of the processor-heatsink.

How to disassembleHPPavilionG6-2323sr

The first step is de-energization. Turn off the power supply and remove the battery.

Next, remove the keyboard. To do this, pry it off with a small flathead screwdriver. Next, we lead a screwdriver along the keyboard, unfastening the latches.

When all the latches are unfastened, turn the keyboard over and disconnect its cable from the motherboard.

We remove the keyboard to the side. We unscrew all the screws (there are 5 in total) that were hidden under the keyboard. And also turn off all the loops that we see.

We close the screen of the HP Pavilion G6-2323sr and turn the laptop over. There is a screw in the center of the case. Unscrew it first.

Further from the side where the battery was. There is an inscription "Release door" and an arrow indicating the direction. Slide the cover in this direction. If it doesn't work with your hands, you can pry a little with a flat screwdriver.

Underneath is the hard drive. RAM and a few loops. For convenience, everything should be disabled and removed.

Do not forget about the Wi-Fi module. We disconnect the wires from it (white and black) and unscrew the screw fixing it.

There is another screw under the hard drive that needs to be removed.

And then unscrew all the screws on the laptop case in a circle. After that, we remove the drive for reading hard drives.

Now we need to separate the body. To do this, slip a flat screwdriver or a plastic card from any convenient side and unfasten the first latch

If all the screws are unscrewed and the cable is disconnected, then by unfastening all the latches in a circle, the case can be easily disassembled.

Before us motherboard. But there is no access to the cooling system, since it is located below. To remove the board, you must disconnect all cables and unscrew one screw.

After that, the board is very simply removed from the seats. Turning it over, you can see the cooling system in the form of a radiator and a fan.

In fact, this completes the disassembly of the HP Pavilion g6-2323sr. But we need to clean the cooling system. So, remove the radiator with a fan.

Next, disconnect the fan from the radiator by unscrewing the fixing screws.

After that, it should be something like this (maybe worse, maybe better)...

We remove the dirt and sweep away the dust with a brush.

If you need to replace the thermal paste on a laptop, then we clean the chips CPU and video processor.

And the pads on the radiator...

On the chips cleaned from the old thermal paste, we apply a layer of fresh.

And we collect everything in the reverse order. This completes the cleaning and replacement of thermal paste on the HP Pavilion g6-2323sr. At each step, do not forget to check all contacts and cables so that you do not have to re-disassemble the laptop later.
