The new beast has an exceptional design, but fortunately, this is not the only plus of the combine. MediaMonkey can play more than 20 audio file formats, rip CDs, burn CD/DVDs, convert music to 5 most popular formats (MP3, M4A, OGG, FLAC and WMA), connect to portable devices (iPod, iRiver), generate tags to audio files, contains an excellent tag editor, hotkey support, a proxy for Internet radio streaming, and much more.

Various methods for grouping songs, there is even Drag "n" Drop for compiling your own playlists with just two mouse clicks. Support for additional skins and plugins (input, output, DSP, general, visualization), there is a good 7-band equalizer, although far from perfect.

There are several more useful features, but access to them is only available after purchasing an additional license. Without it, the program is completely free, the only drawback is the lack of a Russian-language interface, which is so lacking in the program.

The main media window of the player is a large center, including song information (bottom), library tree (left), playlist list (right), the song list itself on this moment(central part).

The player lacks only a more convenient window, reduced by half and having only the most necessary functions, Russian language pack, a more advanced equalizer, a slightly more complete stock of supported file formats and a couple of minor fixes, in general, even now MediaMonkey is worthy analogue and a competitor to advanced players.

I still recommend to try some kind of monkey from Ventis Media Inc., taste new technologies and try out some new features, I don't think it differs much from small audio players in its functional qualities.

Music can be treated differently. You can love it, hate it, ignore it, be inspired by it or tune yourself in the right way; you can enhance feelings, emotions, impressions; you can be angry, hate, or vice versa - be in complete harmony with yourself and the world around you. One way or another, almost any aspect of life can be influenced by music.

I love music and can hardly imagine myself without it (as I hope you do too). Now such specialized devices as music players have practically disappeared - they have remained purely niche solutions, mainly intended either for playing sports or for shaking money out of the wallets of the so-called "audiophiles", most of them rich and wealthy citizens.

And who ousted them from the market? That's right, our beloved mobile phone. Today I would like to tell you about the next four programs, this time, as you might guess, for listening to audio files.

As I said, there are mastodons in almost any type of program, and this direction is no exception - you have probably heard of Poweramp, WinAMP, JetAudio, Neutron MP, doubleTwist, MixZing and PlayerPro. If, for some reason, none of these solutions suits you (design, usability, some other criteria), then perhaps this article will come in handy for you as well as possible.

Looking ahead, I’ll say that I didn’t find any difference in sound quality in them (and the developers don’t seem to promise anything like that). I also note that below there will be programs that stand out against the general background of the bulk, but you should not look for super-tricky media combines in them with a million and one presets for the equalizer and three hundred more settings, functions and other things (by the way, in none of which there is no gapless playback, this factor should be taken into account). And yes, you should not pay attention to the English interface in the program - I have it as a system one, that's all.

So let's go.

Download on Google Play

The first program will be the well-known MediaMonkey player for desktop PC users, which appeared relatively recently for Android, and just a month or two ago stepped into the open spaces of the store. Google Play. At the moment, the application is in open beta testing, so various bugs and annoying errors may occur, however, I did not notice any such problems.

The interface of the program is minimalistic in the truest sense of the word - there are practically no graphic elements here, only a black background, holo-like section icons and thin dividing lines.

The home screen contains the main navigation window. Here you can choose the sorting method for music (by artists, albums, composers, genres, playlists; display of all tracks available on the device is supported). Separate items are “audiobooks”, “podcasts” (it is not possible to download from external sources, only local data), “video”, streaming via UPnP and “sync now” (media libraries with desktop version) - the first difference from other programs in today's release . Although I promised at the beginning not to offer "combines", I did not keep my word. However, we will leave the possibility of working with video for some other time.

Selecting an album, you will see a list of songs in it, a picture of the cover information, such as the total duration of the "record" and the number of tracks in it. The top bar has a "shuffle all" button, "search" and a menu.

The main playback window is a large album cover, three navigation keys and a progress bar (navigation by tap, of course, is supported). Clicking on the cover will bring up two pop-up bars at the top and bottom ("score", "shuffle all" and "repeat one/all tracks"). Gesture from right to left will call translucent window with the lyrics of the song, if they are included in tags (the latter, by the way, can be changed directly from the program).

Download on Google Play (free) Download on Google Play (key)

The oldest player from today's selection, which was born last year, managed to undergo some graphic changes in the interface, it has become faster, more stable and, to be honest, even more pleasing to the eye (although for particularly demanding users there is also standard way navigation).

At the first start, the program will guide you through a more than complete and understandable tutorial that clearly shows how to work with this program, and at the end it will offer you to download album covers - all or just missing ones. I would like to note that this player makes it better than the rest, including the "grands" - this is understandable, because the whole program is based on them.

Its main feature is an interface built on the layout of album covers in beautiful collage. At first glance, such a solution may seem impractical, but in reality everything is very convenient and, in my opinion, surpasses the standard sorting alphabetically by “column”. The collage lends itself to scaling with a “pinch” back and forth, and at a great distance all the images are hidden (it becomes impossible to see them anyway), and their places are occupied by names.

It makes no sense to list all the options, otherwise they are quite ordinary - a simple five-band equalizer with several presets and the ability to set values manually, a couple of sound filters and several effects. By going to the settings (which, by the way, are quite extensive), you can set up scrobbling in Last.fm, select appearance lock screen widget, limit scanning of folders to only selected ones and set best quality album images for the sake of performance.

The main playback window offers a slightly larger number of control buttons available. A long press on an album art will bring up a dialog menu with a lot of options (such as managing a playlist or grouping albums by title).
