      • If you are going to flash a Hitachi DVD drive, you will need to download a special version of Hitachi's iXtreme LT+ 3.0.

    2. Extract the files from the JungleFlasher folder to your computer. After you download the file with the program, extract the files from the archive so that you can access them on your computer. You do not need to install JungleFlasher to use the program. It is enough to unzip the files from the folder to any folder on your computer to have access to them.

      Copy the files to the JungleFlasher directory. After you extract the files from the JungleFlasher archive, extract the files from the iXtreme LT+ 3.0 archive to the same folder. Open the folder called Firmware. Copy all files to the Firmware folder in the JungleFlasher directory.

Step #1: Determine the Drive Model

There are several ways to produce an iron mod - The MRA Hack, The Xecuter Probe II, The Xecuter LT Switch, Vampire & Rebuild Board, Vampire w/o Rebuild Board.

The MRA Hack - the simplest circuit, which you can assemble yourself at no extra cost. You will need a mounting knife, a couple of wires, a 20 ohm resistor and a switch to be able to quickly break the contact. The big minus of this method is that after the firmware it will be necessary to restore all the cut tracks on the printed circuit board.

I chose the most rational and cheap option - Xecuter LT Switch. The plus is that after soldering over the native board and unlocking the console, you don’t need to restore anything, just move the switch to the Normal position from the Read / Write mode. This decision cost me about 4 GBP, excluding shipping in some English online modding store.


There are still a couple of unresolved issues. Firstly, I don’t have a monitor at home, secondly, I don’t have Windows on any of the computers, and thirdly, all my computers are portable, so there is nowhere to connect the SATA cord. We insert the power cord, the main thing is not to confuse the position of the power connector, when disassembling it is best to mark with a marker in which position it is connected. Turn on the console.

We download the latest version of the Jungle Flasher program, launch it and go to the MTK Flash 32 tab. The drive did not want to be detected, as a result it worked only in SATA Mode - Native IDE, not in AHCI. For those who are not in the know, this mode is set in the BIOS.

Power off the console. We translate the switch on the Xecuter LT Switch to the R / W position, press the button in the program Intro/Device ID, on the question asked we answer Yes. Turn on the power button again and move the switch on the Xecuter LT Switch to the Normal position. After that, your drive will enter Vendor Mode, and the Serial flash will be in the status 0x72.

Now we press the button read and save the read original firmware of the drive. Save this firmware in a safe place! You will still need it if you suddenly decide to change the drive again. The read firmware will automatically be loaded into the FirmwareTool 32 tab after you press the button Yes.

The read key will be automatically spoofed from original firmware to the modified one, in my case it is iXtreme Lite Touch (LT) 1.1.
