In this tutorial, I'll show you how to add a file from a book. PDF to the presentation PowerPoint.

PDF(Portable Document Format) - a format that is widely used as a way to sharing documents for printing, so a lot of books and documents are made in this format.

Often there is a need to insert one or more fragments from a PDF into a PPT.

For example, we decided to make a presentation about the great Leonardo da Vinci. On one of the slides, according to our idea, there should be a chronological table. It is quite a long time to write it manually, but we remember that in, there is definitely such a table. The book is in PDF format, which is exactly what we need.

Now we will easily and quickly transfer this plate to our presentation.

Let's get started!

1. Create new presentation and go to tab Design to set the portrait orientation of the slides - Design--> Page Setup --> Book.

You can immediately choose a design or template for the presentation. It should look something like this:

2. Now go to the desired PDF file and find the page that we want to transfer to PowerPoint. Click on it with the left mouse button, go to the tab Edit(edit) and select Copy File to Clipboard(copy to clipboard).

Once this page was copied to the clipboard, it became available for further use in other applications, in this case PowerPoint.

3. Now back to our presentation and click on the tab home. Under button Insert(at the very beginning of the toolbar) you will see , and next to it such a small arrow . We click on it and we will have an area on the left side of the slides in which everything that is on this moment is on the clipboard:

4. We first click on the desired presentation slide, then on the copied chronological table file located on the clipboard. It will automatically appear on the slide.

I also copied the page with Leonardo's photo to the clipboard, so everything looks like this for me:

If necessary, the size of the images can be made smaller, or, conversely, stretched to the entire slide.

If you do not want to make a presentation in portrait orientation, then set the page options landscape, and just cut off the borders of the picture that go beyond the slide.

Sometimes you have to receive documents in the wrong format. It remains either to find ways to read given file, or convert it to another format. It is just about considering the second option that it is worth talking in more detail. Especially when it comes to PDF files that need to be translated into PowerPoint.

A reverse conversion example can be found here:

Unfortunately, in this case, the presentation program does not provide a PDF opening function. You have to use only third-party software, which just specializes in converting this format to various others.

Method 1: Nitro Pro

A relatively popular and functional toolkit for working with PDF, including converting such files into MS Office application formats.

Converting a PDF to a presentation is very easy here.

  1. First you need to load into the program desired file. To do this, you can simply drag the desired file to working window applications. It is also possible to do this in a standard way- go to tab "File".
  2. In the menu that opens, select "Open". A list of directions will appear on the side where you can find the desired file. The search can be carried out both on the computer itself and in various cloud storage- , OneDrive and so on. After selecting the desired directory, options will be displayed on the side - available files, navigation paths, and so on. This allows you to efficiently search for the required PDF objects.
  3. As a result, the desired file will be loaded into the program. Now you can view it here.
  4. To start converting, you need to go to the tab "Transformation".
  5. Here you need to select "In PowerPoint".
  6. The conversion window will open. Here you can make settings and check all the data, as well as specify the directory.
  7. To select the save path, you need to refer to the area "Notifications"- here you need to select the address parameter.

    • The default here is "source file folder"- the converted presentation will be saved in the same place where the PDF document is located.
    • "Specified Folder" unlock button "Review" to select a folder in the browser where to save the document.
    • "Ask in Progress" means that this question will be asked after the conversion process is completed. It is worth noting that such a choice will additionally load the system, since the conversion will take place in the computer's cache.
  8. To set up the conversion process, you need to click the button "Options".
  9. A special window will open, where all possible settings are sorted into their respective categories. It is worth noting that there are a lot of different parameters here, so you should not touch anything here without the appropriate knowledge and direct need.
  10. At the end of all this, you need to click the button "Transformation" to start the conversion process.
  11. The document translated into PPT will be located in the previously specified folder.

It is worth noting that the main drawback of this program is that it immediately tries to aggressively integrate into the system so that it can open both PDF and PPT documents by default. This is very disturbing.

Method 2: Total PDF Converter

A very well-known program for working with converting PDF to various formats. It also works with PowerPoint, so it was impossible not to mention that.

This method has its drawbacks. Basic - very often the program does not adjust the size of the pages in the final document to the one stated in the source. Therefore, slides often come out with white stripes, usually from the bottom, if the standard page size was not pre-filled in the PDF.

Method 3: Abble2Extract

An equally popular application, which is also designed to pre-edit PDF before converting it.

The program has several problems. Firstly, free version can convert up to 3 pages at a time. Secondly, not only does it not adjust the slide format to fit PDF pages, but often distorts color scheme document.

Thirdly, it converts to the 2007 PowerPoint format, which can lead to some compatibility issues and content distortion.

The main advantage is step by step learning, which turns on every time you start the program and helps you calmly complete the conversion.

Conclusion
