Dear like-minded people, I wondered if there is access besides Windows on some tablets or other portable devices. In general, any analogues of DBMS on mobile devices exist?

Is there an access besides Windows on some tablets
As far as I know, no. If there is a question about using the Access functionality on a tablet, then the only option I know is AcerW500, 501. It will not work on android and in the "clouds". It is possible to virtualize Windows on Android, but it will be time consuming (and may not work at all) and work very slowly. Another option is to wait for the release of W8, which was promised as a universal platform (and that is, the fundamental nuances). I won’t say anything about analogues, but I assume that the more code is involved in the application, the correct translation to ... nix platforms, for example, the same Android, impossible

Good afternoon. Does anyone work in access 2010 or 2013 on tablets under windows control 8 or 8.1? after monitoring the Internet, I still didn’t understand whether full-fledged access2010/2013 can be installed on a w8 tablet or whether it will be similar to it, to view only reports and fill out forms. (If there is a link to the video, throw it off plz) If you have experience working in access on a tablet, share your opinion whether it is convenient to work or for now the laptop remains the most small device to work in access.

I installed 32-bit on 2 tablets. Base Assess 2003. On one it started right away, on the other only under 2007. The program uses MSCOMCTL.OCX. The forms are "rubber", that is, they are adjusted to the size of the screen, so there were no problems with the size. Fixed only a few forms, increased the font and line height, including in the MSCOMCTL element. The work is carried out mainly with the use of the mouse. I just experimented, but it seemed that the "fingers" are not very convenient, the fingers are too big. But if someone is used to it, it is quite efficient.

Thank you. Can you develop a simple database on a tablet? Or after a short use of the tablet, did you still return to the good old laptop or desktop computer? The reason for my concern is that after buying a new tablet (with a keyboard) - do not turn it into another toy (as happened with the ipad), but it’s a pity to waste 3 hours a day on the train.

Microsoft Access is the most popular database used by many organizations today. Simplicity and ease of use determine its wide distribution among users to create simple bases data. Unfortunately, latest release Microsoft office 2010 does not include Microsoft Access in Home Edition, and you have to pay some additional amount (which can go up to $495!) to get access to the application. Luckily, there are some free alternatives to Microsoft Access that provide similar functionality. They are available both as standalone applications and as part of another office suite.

Kexi

Next on the list Kexi is another worthy free alternative to Microsoft Access. This is a separate application that offers user-friendly interface to create databases and access information from them using queries and scripts. An interesting thing about Kexi is that it has the ability to store data on database servers, in addition to storing it on the local machine.

Another great feature is that Kexi is compatible with huge amount platforms including Windows, Linux, Mac, Solaris and FreeBSD. Kexi comes with a feature rich designer that allows you to design all kinds of databases; in addition, the application provides a dedicated SQL view for creating more complex queries. It is also possible to import existing data from Microsoft Access or export data from the Kexi database to MySQL or the popular PostgreSQL server.

Next comes , a free database system consisting of desktop tools and a database server. It takes a unique approach to storing data that is visible from outside database servers (such as MySQL or SQL Server) and allows it to be treated in the same way as locally stored data.

AxisBase aims to provide the best design solution to end users and tries to create database tools that will help them develop applications in a simple and fun way.

AxisBase is completely free and is a good alternative to Microsoft Access.

libreoffice(similar to Apache OpenOffice) office suite open source code for Windows, Linux and Mac. It is a good free alternative to Microsoft Office and provides full support for all Microsoft Office file formats.

Like OpenOffice, LibreOffice includes Base, a modular component that supports the same functionality as Microsoft Access and makes it easy to create databases. The database comes packaged with HSQL and offers support wizards to help novice users build their databases.

LibreOffice Base is ideal for creating both simple and complex database applications. Provides support for dBase flat files, JDBC/ODBC drivers and other databases like MS Access, MySQL, Adabas D and PostgreSQL. Download for free and give it a try.

Glom

Glom is an open alternative software for Microsoft Access and FileMaker Pro that allows you to design databases and their user interface, complete simplicity and no need for programming knowledge. Glom uses PostgreSQL as its account database, however, it cannot edit databases that are not created in it.

Some high-level features include search, relationships, drop-down selection, search, reports, related areas, calculated fields, and so on.

Glom is a simple yet advanced database design system.
