Siemens C75: inexpensive and concise

Siemens C75, operating in 3 bands (GSM 900/1800/1900), was introduced by the manufacturer at the end of May 2005. From afar, the phone can easily be confused with handsets from Sony Ericsson. First of all, it resembles the elegant business model Т610 – with conciseness and preciseness of outlines, silver panels. However, the resemblance to a two-year-old phone is a dubious compliment. The German manufacturer, apparently, was aware of this, having somewhat expanded the functionality of the 2005 sample pipe. Another difference is the positioning of the phone for a wider range of consumers. The symbol "C" in the name of the model was not chosen by chance, denoting in the Siemens tradition a budget, functional solution "for everyone".

The entire success story and subsequent failures of Siemens is closely related to the products of the C- and S-segments. The backbone of sales for the company has always been budget models, and their connection with products of the C index. User loyalty was supported by the high functionality of the models in the C-series, which was optimal in terms of price / quality ratio. It doesn't matter if it was the first purchase, or if the user switched to the C model from the A index, a good impression was guaranteed in most cases. The Siemens C25 model (more business users) was very popular, the C35 that replaced it became an extremely popular youth device. In the future, the development of the line gravitated towards youth solutions, this was confirmed by the 45, 55 and 65 lines. In the 75-series, there was a return to eternal values, when the model is positioned not only as a youth device, but also as a phone for middle-aged people, the older generation. This is a device that offers a mature design and good functionality for a low price. In the line from the “native” Siemens to the final merger with BenQ, the C75 model becomes fundamental, it will form the backbone of future sales. We can confidently say that Siemens C75 in short time will become a bestseller as it offers an excellent quality/price ratio and is very well positioned for the price.

Technologically, the device is an exact copy of Siemens CX70, there are no differences in either hardware or software (except for firmware stability). Siemens engineers managed to make the case smaller by using a different display (103x44x17 mm), the device became more elegant, which is emphasized by the case color (silver or palladium, both colors are airy). The weight of the phone is 90 grams. The phone lies well in the hand, the design of individual elements is more reminiscent of a business phone, rather than a mid-range model. An obvious dissonance is the use of plastic keys, as on the most inexpensive budget devices. They are knocked out of the style of Siemens C75, coarsen it. In my opinion, the keyboard is the biggest blunder of the designers in this model, if they did it differently, the design of the phone would be much more interesting.

On the sides of the device there is an insert made of dark plastic, on the left side there is an IrDA window. There are no side keys, they are not typical for this class. There is a hole in the back for attaching a strap. The design of the back cover has undergone changes, it now moves up and is fastened with one latch. The presence of a noticeable backlash at the panel does not affect the sensations of the device, you can get rid of the backlash by using a gasket made of soft material (the “skillful hands” circle). In everyday use, you do not pay attention to the backlash of the panel.

On the rear panel there is a VGA-camera window, there is also a connector for an antenna adapter. The interface connector is standard, it is located on the bottom end.

The screen has a resolution of 132x176 pixels (28x37 mm), which allows displaying up to 8 lines of text and 2 service lines. The CX65/CX70 model uses a screen similar in resolution, but with a larger physical size (28x42 mm). Thanks to smaller sizes The screen has also been reduced in size.

In terms of its capabilities, the screen is very interesting, it displays up to 65,000 colors (TFT), the picture quality is not bad, comparable to European models in color reproduction (subjectively - with Sony Ericsson F500 / K500, except for resolution, there is no difference as such). Due to the physical size, the picture on the screen looks good, indoors it is not as bright as in the case of phones from Samsung, Motorola. Just like in previous models, a special reflective layer has been used here, which makes the picture in the sun perfectly visible and readable. According to this parameter, the phone is one of the best on the market.

Numeric keys are made of plastic, they are quite hard, medium in size. Working with the keyboard does not cause problems, comfort is at an average level. Key backlight orange color, it is clearly visible in various conditions. A joystick with a silicone overlay, it handles pressing and deflection in various directions very well.

The battery in this model is lithium-ion, with a capacity of 750 mAh. According to the manufacturer, it can provide up to 200 hours of standby time and up to 3 hours of talk time. Under the conditions of the Moscow MTS network, the device worked on average for about 2 days with active use (30 minutes of calls in total, about 35-40 minutes of using the phone). With more modest use, you can charge the device every three days. Time full charge phone a little more than 1.5 hours.

Menu

The phone's interface is made in the traditional style by Siemens, which primarily concerns the ideology of the menu organization and the distribution of its various items. Two soft keys can be assigned their own functions, by default it is the address book and access to the main menu. Given that functions are also assigned to the joystick, it is worth reassigning the soft keys. By pressing the joystick you get to the main menu, downward deviation - address book, left - camera, right - inbox, and finally up - change profiles. Also present quick call functions by pressing the number keys.

The main menu is represented by 9 icons arranged in three rows of three icons each. Icons are drawn in the same style as on others modern phones from Siemens, they are mostly youth. Many note that the icons are not very expressive, they do not look too bright in comparison with phones from Korean manufacturers. I will make a reservation that the icons are simple, made in the style of children's drawings, which causes such a reaction from users.

Submenus are represented by lists, everything is traditional here. You can navigate through the menu using digital sequences. In general, the possibilities of navigating through the phone's menu are close to the maximum, which cannot but rejoice.

Text input does not cause problems, the device supports T9 dictionaries, fast switching between languages while typing.

Traditionally, there is an event log, which displays all missed calls, messages, missed reminders, alarms. To some extent it is more logical and more user-friendly. Thus, the left soft key corresponds to the log that appears along with the first event. By pressing the left soft key, you enter the list from which you can view each individual event, all of them are labeled by type (call, alarm clock, message and have the first line - phone number, message start, alarm time, etc.).

Phone book. The phone memory is dynamically shared among all applications, but there is a limit of 1000 names for the phone book. For one name, you can record data such as last name and first name, primary, work and mobile phone numbers, two fax numbers, two postal addresses, link, company name, address (city, street, postal code, country). In addition to these fields, it is possible to enter a date birthday, enable a warning about it. Any graphic file can be associated with any name in the phone book - both a photo and just a picture.

In the general list for the name, icons of all fields (in one or two lines) that were filled in for the name are displayed. The photo is not displayed in the list, to view it, you must enter the name view.

The phone has 9 groups of subscribers, each can be renamed, choose your own picture. Groups can be assigned call melody, but it is useless to look for this setting in the address book menu, it is located in the call settings menu. It's not entirely logical, but it's worth getting used to it once.

When incoming calls, the caller's picture is not displayed in full screen but it's big enough. Another disadvantage is that the number is displayed in the first seconds, then it is replaced by a photo. The number type is displayed, as well as the name. You cannot reassign individual fields, that is, if the subscriber has two mobile phone, then you will have to write down the second one as the main or working one. This does not create any particular inconvenience, but confusion can arise, especially if you have many friends with a large number of mobile devices.

Messages. Up to 100 messages can be stored in the phone's memory and again the memory is allocated dynamically, this should be kept in mind. The general list displays both messages from the phone memory and from the SIM card, the latter are marked with the corresponding icon. You can create message templates, separate folders. The phone has MMS, the settings are quite simple, guided by the data of your operator, you can make them in 3-4 minutes (they are pre-installed for Moscow and St. Petersburg). Naturally, it is better to turn on packet data and use it to deliver and receive multimedia messages, it will be cheaper this way.

When composing messages, I liked the interface, now you can quickly navigate between individual pages, you do not need to call the context menu. There are message size warnings that pop up when you try to send it. You must also specify the time during which the message can be delivered to the addressee (from an hour to eternity). If your carrier charges for message size, then this feature is important. Receiving MMS messages can occur in manual or automatic mode, there is also an option for automatic receipt only in the native network, and not in roaming. Curiously, in the case of choosing automatic mode, the phone honestly warns that this method can sometimes be expensive.

Mail client supports up to 4 accounts, its capabilities are similar to those in other models from Siemens. Russian encodings, as usual, are not fully supported, you will have to choose carefully mail server with message encoding installed.

The phone has the ability to create your own templates or, if you like, text blanks for all occasions. In terms of messaging, the phone is not bad, it is on the level best models. A nice additional feature is the choice of font size when viewing messages (standard, large and small). You have freedom of choice.

Call lists. The last 100 dialed, 100 received and 100 missed calls are stored in the phone's memory, time and date are indicated for each entry, and you can also view the duration of the call. This allows you not to summarize calls from one number that go in a row, but to record them separately.

Options. This menu contains big number various settings Let's consider them all separately.

profiles. Traditionally, you can configure how the phone will behave in various conditions (vibration, ringtones, etc.). It is possible to copy all the settings of one profile to another - this little thing is very useful when you need to change one or two parameters from an already configured profile.

Topics. It changes depending on the topic chosen. menu design, its color scheme, wallpaper pattern. Installing a theme takes between 15 and 30 seconds. The downside is that there is no preview of the selected theme, you have to install it anyway to see it.

Melodies. Choice of melodies for calls and other events.

Display. Wallpaper settings, animation when turning on or off the phone. The font size is also configurable here.

Phone Pilot is a 3D character that can make it easier for you to communicate with your phone, give you hints, wish you a happy birthday.

Organizer. The calendar itself is traditionally organized, there is a monthly view, you can switch to weekly view with an hourly grid display or to a daily schedule. Separate menu items allow you to view all events of a certain type, for example, appointments, notes, reminders. In total, up to 1000 events can be stored in the organizer's memory.

Events can be recurring or one-time, there is a setting to display all fields when entering an event or only some. A voice note can also act as a reminder.

There is a separate list of tasks, here you can assign not only a day, but also a warning. It is possible to evaluate the task on a 5-point scale.

Sticky notes are the perfect way to enter a small text message. The note can be public or private, in the second case, in order to read it, you will have to enter the phone code.

From the organizer menu you can see the world time in major cities - a handy feature. There is also a voice recorder, the duration and number of recordings is limited only by the free space in the phone's memory. By default, this is about 186 minutes of time. Unfortunately, to make this function work in talk time failed, in our case the phone started to reboot, we had to turn it off and on again.

My Stuff. All programs and files are contained in their folders, everything is structured and easy to understand. There are two types of folder representation: as a list or as small icons. For photographs, the second type of display is preferred. Unfortunately, all standard folders look the same with the second type of display, which creates some confusion, you have to look at the captions at the top.

The phone has about 10 MB of memory, about 7 MB is initially available to the user (depending on pre-installed applications).

Extras. This menu contains an alarm clock that can be set for certain days of the week. There is only one alarm clock.

Recording sounds is an analogue of a voice recorder, only from here you can set the recording in the form of a ringtone.

Calculator - in addition familiar functions it became possible to memorize intermediate measurement results (memory function), the calculator is convenient.

Converter of various units of measurement, everything is simple and functional.

Stopwatch allows you to create up to two control points, save them later to a file. The phone also has a countdown timer.

File System. A utility for viewing the contents of the flash memory reserved for user data. You can create your own folders, move the contents of existing folders, change the display (list or icons with preview graphs). The phone can be used as a data carrier, it is enough to transfer any file (of any format) to it.

fun&surf. Wap-browser version 2.0 is located here, browser settings are slightly higher than standard, it is easy to add new bookmarks, big screen makes it easy to navigate through various resources.

Games. The phone has two games - Ocean Battle (a well-known naval battle) and Speed Chaser 3D (three-dimensional racing).

Applications. It is worth noting only Photo Editor, this is a utility for editing your files. The possibilities are extremely scarce - add a frame, an icon, rotate the image and, in fact, that's all. You can call editing a file from any list, but then you will have to select the file from the list again. In general, this shows that the program is not integrated with the phone and the interface.

Camera. The phone has a VGA-camera, the manufacturer decided to move away from the standard indication of the resolution of images, only the names are visible here - Premium (640 x 480), high, medium, Wallpaper. Of the other settings, it is worth noting the ability to choose a default name for files, in particular, it may contain The current date and time (these are templates). White balance can be automatic or manual (street, home).

The screen of the phone acts as a viewfinder, the picture is practically not smeared when moving sharply. On the screen, the received pictures look great, the device is quite good in this parameter. There is a timer for taking self-portraits.

With one touch, you can adjust the brightness, use the digital zoom. The phone also allows you to record up to 30 seconds of video with sound. The videos look acceptable, but nothing more.(+) enlarge, 640x480, JPEG

The zoom function is digital, so you should not use it, the quality leaves much to be desired, however, this can be seen in this picture.

The test results weren't a revelation, in terms of speed the model is similar to the previous devices of the series, which is quite good. According to its characteristics in the class, the model is one of the best. The performance improvement over the Siemens CX70 is due to greater software stability.

Impression

The models from Siemens have no problems with the quality of communication, they provide reliable communication, good and clear voice transmission. The volume of the polyphonic ringer is above average, it is well audible. MP3 files are not supported by the device. The vibrating alert is average in strength, but it is enough for most situations.

The handset does not have voice dialing, which is not a disadvantage for this segment. It also does not have a voice recorder during a call, which has long been known from the CX65/CX70. In its segment, the device is close to the maximum functionality, it has no obvious competitors. The appearance of C75 automatically destroys sales of Siemens CX65/CX70, the only hardware difference between these models is the function of dynamic light. The cost of the C75 is currently at $170, which is comparable to the prices of the Siemens CX65. If the price falls in November to the level of 150-160 dollars, the device will be in great demand as one of the best, strongest offers in this segment. The life cycle of the C75 model will be maximum, it can be more than a year, which will allow the company to gain a foothold in this segment. There is no direct competitor for Siemens C75 among products from Nokia, Samsung or Motorola, which makes the model extremely interesting. The release of a similar product from Sony Ericsson is scheduled only for the end of the first quarter, which makes it not very interesting and increases its cost. The outgoing model Sony Ericsson K500 may offer little competition to the Siemens C75, but it will not last long.

There are no frank minuses in Siemens C75, the model has stable software and improved localization. This allows us to call it a bestseller, the best offer in its class, which it will remain for at least 7-8 months. The only threat to this product is the active reduction in prices for Motorola E398 class products, in which case Siemens C75 will have to fall in price even faster. But based on the history of price declines for the C-series, one cannot say that the level of $100-110 will be reached faster than within 12 months.

The SAR value for this model is 0.478 W/kg.

One of the main principles for the formation of the Siemens line was to gradually move more functional solutions to lower price classes. Because the Siemens line is clearly structured into series with letter designations, which in a stable period (that is, a few months after the change of the line that occurs once a year) occupy the same price ranges. Previously, this technique was used to a limited extent, but since the beginning of this year, when the engineering thought of the mobile division faded away, it has become the only way to update model range. Its principle is simple: the business model S-Klasse of the previous generation (S65) became the mass functional solution CX75 and its protected counterpart M75, the previous model of this class CX65 “downgraded” to C75, the former C-Klasse model formed the basis budget model AX75. The exception to this rule is the cheapest phones, which simply do not make sense to "screw up", and they retain approximately constant functionality, differing only in design. The new S-series does not obey him either, which should set the tone in equipment, as well as the SL image line, which is an analogue of the S- or CX-Klasse (closer in one model or another in different cases) in a slider case.

In accordance with these patterns, Siemens C75 is an analogue of CX65 in a new package. Like previous C-Klasse products, it is priced at $110-150. At the first stage, the cost of the C-model of the new series is approximately the same as that of the previous generation CX, then the prices of the C75 will decrease, and the CX65 / 70 will gradually disappear from the shelves.

Design and construction

Siemens C75 is a candybar phone of medium size, by today's standards, and a "slender" shape, elongated upwards with a small width and thickness. The geometry and color solution are very simple - apparently, Siemens, in order to increase sales, went to the point of creating the most versatile product that does not cause rejection in anyone. Naturally, for this it was necessary to destroy all originality in the design. You can relate to this in different ways. Someone will consider this approach unjustified, and the design - boring. We believe that the device is attractive precisely for its simplicity, a minimum of constructive and decorative details. This is a very simple phone, the designers have tried to make it as refined as possible for this price segment, and they did it. We like. I like it, even despite the fact that the Sony Ericsson K700's "ears" are clearly visible in the design of the C75, at a cursory glance, these two models can even be confused.

Finishing and selection of materials C75 is unusually good, both for the budget and mainstream Siemens of recent years. The device does not look more expensive than it actually costs (as a rule, only Samsung allows such design for its models), but it looks decent. The simplicity of the forms goes well with the semi-gloss silver finish and is favorably set off by the mirrored surfaces in the control group of keys and around the screen. For the first time in Last year high-quality plastic is used and the design is well calculated - the phone seems dense, almost monolithic, does not creak and has no backlashes in the case. The parts fit very well, without large grooves. The design of the C75 is very similar to that of the Motorola C350, for which it was the solid appearance that served as one of the main arguments "for" among buyers.

The Siemens C75 keyboard consists of management group and digital block. The numeric keys are quite large, they are spaced horizontally and vertically, and have a well-defined profile (although the surface is flat, the height of the keys is quite large). The pressing force is average, with a clear threshold. However, to achieve such indicators, the extreme buttons had to be placed almost on the side and bottom edges of the phone, there are practically no gaps separating the keyboard from the edges of the case. This means that when pressing the extreme keys, the thumb will have to be bent to the very palm, which will create certain difficulties. However, such shortcomings are to some extent characteristic of all monoblocks with large screens, in the C75 the designers offer far from the worst option.

The control group consists of a five-way joystick, a pair of soft keys and call and hang up buttons (the latter, traditionally for Siemens, acts as a C key). The joystick is small, for ease of use, a drop of anti-slip soft polymer is applied to its top. This should improve the grip of the joystick with your finger, however, it only works with small deflection forces and a sufficiently large drop surface. In C75, the joystick is small and rather tight, the friction force of the resin is still not enough and the finger slips.

On the other sides of the phone, besides the front, there are practically no additional structural elements, the device is almost smooth. The only exception is the built-in camera lens, located on the back in the center, as well as the remote antenna jack, located nearby. An IrDA window is located on the left side face, and an information connector is on the bottom end. There are no additional keys on the phone

The C75 screen is made according to the same technology as in the older models of the previous generation (transreflective TFT, 65,536 colors, 132×176 pixels), but, like other phones of the 75th series, it has a reduced size compared to the 65th series. The image is bright and contrasting, although it is somewhat inferior in saturation to Korean phones, and thanks to the reflective backing, it is perfectly readable in direct sunlight, both with and without backlighting.

The phone is equipped with a lithium-ion battery, which, like on all Siemens phones, is attached to the socket with hooks on the left side and latches on the right side, that is, you need to install the battery sideways. If you know this, then there will be no problems with its installation. The battery compartment is closed with a cover that covers the entire back surface of the phone. The lid has a sliding mount and is fixed with a latch button, so tight and uncomfortable that without a tool at hand or a very good knowledge of the design, removing the lid turns into an almost insoluble problem. With its installation in place, on the contrary, there are no problems.

Menus and functions

Siemens C75 is an example of the most accurate copy software features previous generation models, namely the CX65. Both the set of functions and the menu structure, location and titles of the items are the same. Only the appearance of the main menu icons differs.

To call up the menu, as in the entire 65th and 75th series, the joystick is pressed, and both soft keys are programmable, for each you can set an operation from the list, including opening the main menu. As before, pressing the soft key brings up a dialog where you can run current program, or reassign another, in order to simply launch the application, you need to use a long press. Joystick deflections in idle mode also give access to various applets: down - to the phone book, up - to switch profiles, right - to the inbox, left - to take pictures.

The menu structure and control methods are quite traditional. The main menu is a matrix of 9 icons, nested menus are one-dimensional, text. All menu items are numbered, quick navigation works with the number keys, but the number of the current item is always displayed on the screen. To confirm, press the joystick, to return to the previous level - the end call key, as usual for Siemens. The right soft key can also be used for confirmation, duplicating the joystick, while the left is usually free or used for other operations. When appropriate, is called context menu, usually done with the right soft key. In general, the system is quite logical.

Siemens C75 is equipped with excellent extended address book, familiar in general terms from the former business models of Siemens. Of the traditional advantages, in addition to a large number of phone numbers and e-mail addresses, we will mention: two fields for entering the subscriber's name (first and last name), full compatibility of fields with MS Outlook, which allows you to automatically synchronize contacts with this program, a detailed address view, a field for setting birthday, which is automatically synchronized with the organizer and allows you to make a reminder by the specified date. Of the innovations that appeared in the 65th series, there is a field for ICQ UIN and AIM and WV aliases, the ability to “fold” individual groups of fields into headers, which makes the book more convenient and compact for viewing, as well as a new display of the contact list: now for the selected entry indicates its belonging to a group, as well as icons of the filled information fields. Additional features address book - split into 8 preset groups (you can rename them, but do not edit their composition), set the photo displayed when incoming call. There is no voice dialing in this model.

Entries from the phone's memory and the SIM card can be displayed and called up by the "joystick down" command and from the phone's main menu only separately. To switch to another type of memory, you need to execute a special command in the phone book menu - select Default book, default memory. This is a standard solution for Siemens, as well as for all phones with detailed address books.

Menu call records contains standard means registration of calls of all types, their duration and cost.

Typical menu for Siemens Surf&Fun combines a WAP browser and access to games and applications. The WAP browser supports the WAP 2.0 and HTTP protocols, which means that it can also access regular Web services. The WAP setup, although carried out in two different places - the browser options window and the Connectivity on the menu Setup- does not cause any special problems, as it is used standard set parameters and their designations. The large display size adds to the comfort of working with the Internet.

All games preinstalled in the phone are written in Java, and, like the CX70, the novelty supports 3D Java. In our case, it was “sea battle - SeaBattle, as well as SpeedChaser 3D 3D races with very good 3D graphics for a phone. If desired, you can remove midlets and add new ones - a convenient Download Assistant wizard is provided for this. Cataloging downloaded software is very simple: game MIDlets are installed in the Games folder, working ones - in Applications. Of the applications, there is already a well-known graphics editor image editor.

Menu camera gives access to the photo and video menu. Recall that the C75 has a CMOS camera with VGA resolution (640×480 pixels maximum). In shooting mode, the viewfinder window is displayed on the screen, to capture a frame or start recording, you need to press the joystick. The horizontal deflection of the joystick can be used to adjust the exposure, while the vertical one controls the digital zoom, which in this model provides an increase of up to 5x. There are few shooting options in the phone: you can only control the frame size (3 gradations, without specifying the resolution), the white balance selection mode (automatic, indoors, outdoors), and also use timer shooting. By pressing the left soft key you can switch to the video mode, in this case the phone records clips up to 15 seconds long, voiced by default, although the microphone can be turned off.

The quality of photography turned out to be quite good, even atypical for CMOS VGA cameras. What is unusual is the low level of noise that occurs in low light, although blurring due to slow shutter speeds when shooting indoors sometimes occurs. However, the rest of the photos are good - they have good saturation, correct color rendering and high enough definition. Video is also recorded at a stable and high frame rate, although the quality is naturally worse here.

Paragraph messages contains everything for working with messages. C75 supports SMS, MMS and e-mail. In the applet window they all have shared folders incoming, outgoing, sent, within which there is already a separation by message type. There is also access to the WV instant messaging service, which, however, requires operator support. Note that in Siemens products, starting from CX65, support for instant messages is integrated very tightly - there is a pre-installed client with standard access for the messaging applet, plus fields for storing identification numbers in the address book. There are also configuration tools for all messaging services, including e-mail.

On the menu Organizer there is a calendar with reminders and related utilities - lists of meetings and reminders, a notepad for short notes, a world time clock, a voice recorder, and separately - a list of missed reminders. The calendar has three types of display - monthly, weekly and daily. In the first case, the days on which the reminders fall are highlighted, and when they are selected, the names of the programmed events appear in the status bar. When programming a reminder, you can select the category of the event (simple reminder, call, meeting, dictaphone reminder, birthday, holiday). In accordance with them, the composition of additional information fields and a set of actions performed when a reminder is triggered are automatically selected. Memory for organizer entries is allocated dynamically, you can enter at least 1000 events. All in all, this instrument Siemens has probably the most flexible and powerful among all phones, not counting smartphones. If desired, you can view a list of all events using a special applet in the same menu.

The list of tasks also has advanced scheduling tools, allows you to select the type of task, priority (5 levels) and other typical parameters. The list of tasks can be directly imported from this applet from the server using SyncML.

The C75 recorder allows you to record fragments of arbitrary duration, limited only by the amount of free memory (if it is completely empty, it will be about 200 minutes). Unfortunately, the voice recorder does not work during a call.

On the menu Extras contains additional utilities. As usual with Siemens, there is an alarm clock here, as well as a calculator, a unit converter, a stopwatch, a countdown timer, data synchronization control via SyncML, access to a file browser, and - for some unknown reason - another "entrance" to the voice recorder. Utilities migrated almost unchanged to the C75 from previous models. The alarm clock allows you to program recurring signals that are triggered on the specified days of the week, the calculator, in addition to performing simple arithmetic operations, allows you to calculate the percentage and reciprocal value, the converter recalculates the units of length, temperature, energy, speed, mass, area, volume, power, time and pressure, as well as convert currencies. Other utilities do not need a special introduction.

Menu My Stuff- this is normal for Siemens file manager. File system C75, like in other Siemens phones, has a developed structure and allows you to perform most of the operations with files that are familiar to PC users, in particular - to freely receive / transmit via IrDA and store data in an arbitrary format in memory. Here you can also view images and videos, listen to sounds stored in the corresponding folders.

Finally, point Setup gives access to all kinds of phone settings. Again, as usual in Siemens, the settings of absolutely everything are collected here - profiles, ringtones, WAP, GPRS, network functions, security, etc., except, perhaps, only the messaging services settings. However, the structure and designations of the menu items are quite logical and understandable, so there are no particular difficulties, except that the redirection function is not sufficiently accessible for beginners and, in general, is not implemented very conveniently for frequent use. Let's mention one more feature of the profile setting, which first appeared in the CX65 - profiles do not include the installation of ringtones, sound signals constantly "attached" to groups and the phone book. This eliminates confusion when changing profiles, but does not allow you to use different melodies calls for different situations, which is sometimes appropriate for polyphony.

The C75 has just over 10 MB of memory available to the user, dynamically allocated to all applications. This is not a record figure for today, but still very good, allowing the user to literally indulge in Java applets, storing important MMS messages, photos and videos, and lengthy voice recordings. You can also transfer small files on your phone from one PC to another by downloading them via IrDA or data cable.

Impressions and conclusions

The connection quality of the Siemens C75 is typical for a modern landline phone, it reliably keeps the connection within dense GSM coverage.

A 40-voice polyphonic call sounds quite high quality, MIDI and WAV formats are supported. Like the CX65, there are a lot of ambiguities with the ringer volume on the new model, especially in the MIDI format. Loaded arbitrary MIDI files without special processing are played very quietly. Playing preset melodies can actually be done quite loudly, but the increasing volume mode, which is difficult to turn off, leads to the fact that the beginning of a call is almost always indistinguishable.

The vibrating alert of the C75 is quite powerful, it has a large amplitude at an average oscillation frequency, so it is well felt. Additional convenience is provided by special vibration signals, in which the frequency and duration of vibration impulses change - they are sometimes felt better than standard ones.

At first glance, the C75 makes a very pleasant impression. This is one of the few modern Siemens, which has a high build quality, finish and plastic, and also has a purely rational design. The phone looks neat and solid. The functionality of the device is also on top: the standard Siemens platform provides more than enough features for a 120-dollar (potentially) device, and the screen is the best in its category.

A closer examination shows that the first impression is, in general, correct. The case is quite high-quality, and the flaws in ergonomics mentioned by us, in general, are local and only slightly reduce the convenience of working with the device.

Indeed, the C75, as the price drops to about $130, turns out to be one of the most attractive devices in its price range. It is aimed at that part of economical users who want to get a "business" phone with a maximum of business opportunities.
