visited us Lenovo Vibe Z2. Unfortunately, then we got acquainted with the pre-production version and could not fully evaluate the device. Today, our review involves the serial version of the smartphone, which we can talk about in more detail.
Equipment
The box with the smartphone is made in the usual style for the Vibe line. Outwardly, it can even be confused with that of the older model Vibe Z2 Pro. Inside the box, in addition to the smartphone itself, there is a headset, Charger, USB cable, paper documentation and a paper clip to open the SIM card slot. As a result, the equipment is quite standard, and exactly the same as that of the older model.
Appearance
As mentioned in the first glance, the smartphone is almost a complete copy of the older model. The differences lie in a slightly reduced screen size from 6 to 5.5 inches, different processing of metal parts and the use of glossy plastic inserts.
It is worth noting that the manufacturer did a good job on the appearance of both the flagship model and the hero of the review. The device looks strict, solid and even somehow masculine. There are no rounded edges here, all lines are as straight as possible, and the corners are sharp and only slightly rounded.
The front side is covered with a solid protective glass, under which, in addition to light sensors, proximity and automatic brightness hidden front camera eye.
In the center is a 5.5-inch screen, and below it are backlit hardware touch control keys. The top and bottom ends are covered with glossy plastic.
They have a 3.5 mm audio jack on top, a microUSB connector, a main microphone and a multimedia speaker on the bottom. On the right side is the volume and power button. On the left - only a slot for two SIM-cards format microSIM. The main camera with dual flash and an additional microphone are located on the back side.
In terms of ease of use, you need to understand that you can forget about comfortable work with a smartphone with a screen size of 5.5 inches. Yes, in our case, the manufacturer has greatly simplified the use with the help of proprietary software chips. But even they do not help in some cases. On the other hand, if you use two hands, there are no complaints.
There is exactly one remark to the design - the volume and power keys dangle. We tend to assume that this is an unfortunate misunderstanding and a problem of our sample, but you should pay attention to this when buying a device, because it would be a disaster if the keys just dangled, as they still make quite a loud noise when the device is shaken. As a result, it turns out that the smartphone turns into a rattle for children.
Interface and operating system
The operating system is Android KitKat 4.4 with Lenovo Launcher v6.0 interface. This shell is already familiar to us from other devices of the company.
It has a lot of settings for both appearance and all kinds of smart modes, which somewhat simplify the work with a smartphone. For example, to call the curtain, you do not need to reach for the top edge of the screen. You just need to swipe your finger from top to bottom anywhere on the screen, and the curtain will obediently open.
There is a separate section with special settings. You can activate the inclusion of a smartphone by double-tapping the screen, a quick shot by double-pressing the Home key, and much more. In general, most of the features presented in this setting item are quite interesting.
Do not forget that the Lenovo Launcher v6.0 shell allows you to change the standard look of the interface quite a lot. Let's say you don't like the standard desktop screen scrolling animation. In the interface settings, you can change it to another one or disable it. You can also choose an interface theme and customize it for yourself.
Despite the fact that the standard shell is quite functional, the smartphone works quickly and smoothly. The response rate to user actions is high. In this regard, we can say that the manufacturer managed to combine a rich set of interface functions without degrading the performance of the device.
Performance
Inside the Lenovo Vibe Z2 is a state-of-the-art 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) quad-core processor.
The clock frequency of ARM Cortex-A53 cores is 1.2 GHz. The video adapter is Adreno 306. Volume random access memory is 2 GB. Built-in memory 32 GB, of which 25 GB is available. There is no slot for memory cards.
Unfortunately, the results of synthetic tests are far from the highest. Some sort of explanation is that Current version operating system Android 4.4 KitKat does not allow to reveal the full potential of the processor due to the lack of support for 64-bit processors from the operating system.
Otherwise, we have a fairly ordinary smartphone, it allows you to enjoy the smoothness of the interface, but with demanding games there may be hitches.
Wireless interfaces are fully represented. There is NFC support, WiFi a/n/b/g/ac, Bluetooth version 4.0 and GPS with GLONASS support. Data exchange rate WiFi networks good, also there are no complaints about the speed of searching for satellites.
With video playback, everything is not as smooth as we would like. AnTuTu Video Tester shows that a smartphone will not always open a video using the built-in player, for this it is better to use a third-party player.
If we talk about the voice speaker and microphone, then the smartphone did not let us down. Neither the interlocutor nor the owner of the device will complain about them. With a multimedia speaker, everything is also not bad. It is quite loud and due to the fact that it is located on the bottom end, it will not overlap when lying on the table. But the sound in the headphones is a bit disappointing. Not even the sound itself. It's all right with him. It is detailed and quite good, but with a margin of volume, everything is not so good. Even using quite standard vacuum headphones in the subway, you can find that there is either no volume margin, or one more division remains.
autonomy
Lenovo Vibe Z2 is equipped with a 3000 mAh battery. Time battery life not bad. In rather harsh conditions, the smartphone worked for two days with an active screen time of 6 hours 25 minutes and two hours of voice calls - this is a very good indicator. The results of synthetic autonomy tests are also encouraging.
The manufacturer has taken care of the energy-saving features. There is both an emergency mode and a more “humane” one - smart saving for the screen and GPU. As a result, if necessary, you can significantly increase the battery life, but at the same time limit the capabilities of the device.

Display
The smartphone has a 5.5 inch IPS screen. It is made using OGS technology and has HD resolution (1280x720). The pixel density is 267 ppi. Screen settings are represented by default mode, adaptive mode, bright mode and custom. Do not forget about the extended mode “outdoors”
Thanks to these settings, the screen behavior in the sun can be called very good. Information remains readable even under direct sunlight.
The measurement results show that the maximum brightness reaches 418 cd / m² in normal mode and 506 cd/m² in bright mode. The minimum brightness is 8.9 cd/m². Contrast - 1:771.
The factory calibration of the screen is not bad, but no more. The color temperature is slightly higher than 7500K, which makes the image a little colder than necessary. The graph of the gamma curve is quite different from the reference one. The color gamut of the screen is slightly wider than sRGB.
As a result, the screen turned out to be quite good. Yes, it is not perfect, but it has very good brightness and contrast ratios. Thanks to this, it looks great both in sunny weather and at night.
cameras
LenovoVibe Z2 is equipped with an 8MP front camera and a 13MP main camera. The main camera can record videos in Full HD resolution. There are a lot of items in the camera settings. Among them, it is worth noting the presence of a level in the chamber. Also, the ability to take pictures in HDR mode, panorama and night mode has not gone away.
The photo quality is good. AT automatic mode The pictures are quite clear and not noisy. But in HDR mode, the camera takes pictures that are not natural - very contrasting and bright.

Results
Lenovo Vibe Z2 is a stylish metal smartphone with a good screen, decent battery life and a decent camera. Unfortunately, its cost is not the most tempting - 7500 UAH. (about $400). For that kind of money, I would like to see not a modest Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, but at least a Qualcomm Snapdragon 610. Also, you should not compare the hero of the review with the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro. The older model has a more productive stuffing, best screen and camera. Yes, it costs more, but if you look at the difference in price, the conclusion suggests itself. As a result, in terms of performance, Lenovo Vibe Z2 is significantly simplified, but you can’t say the same about the price.
Not so long ago, we tested the Lenovo Vibe Z, the smartphone that launched the line of flagships of the same name. Chinese brand. His case, to our surprise, was plastic, network support fourth generation was absent, as well as a connector for expanding flash memory - in general, it seems to be a flagship, but it seems to be not. At the same time, it is equipped with a very peppy Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 platform and a bright 5.5-inch screen with Full HD resolution. Vibe Z still costs from ten thousand rubles - probably, its price will not fall even lower. However, even for such money - a very attractive offer.
Lenovo Vibe Z K910L - official photo
There will be two flagships in the new line: a larger one - Z2 Pro, and a smaller one - Z2 (not to be confused with another Z2). We will get acquainted with the second one a little later, but now it's time to study Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro. True, we have already managed to communicate with him at Mobile Asia Expo 2014. The smartphone seemed very interesting to us, and we decided to study it thoroughly.
⇡ Appearance and ergonomics
An interesting fact: Lenovo engineers did not look to its direct predecessor when designing the Z2 Pro, but to the K900 model introduced in 2013. It was she who fell in love with many - including us - for a thin monolithic metal case. The smartphone looked great, it was pleasant to hold it in hands. This also applies to the new Vibe Z2 Pro - it is also, fortunately, made of metal.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro
The gadget has grown significantly compared to its predecessor. This is due to the new six-inch display - half an inch larger than the Vibe Z screen. At the same time, Lenovo tried its best to reduce the dimensions of the smartphone - the frames around the screen are very thin. Nevertheless, the device looks rather bulky, massive - in the hand it resembles a solid aluminum bar with not too rounded corners. The dimensions of the device can be, perhaps, the main repulsive factor from the purchase - not everyone will be comfortable using such a large smartphone.
The device weighs a lot - almost 180 grams. Working with it on weight can be somewhat inconvenient, and this should be considered when buying. But its thickness is small - only 7.7 millimeters, according to official figures. True, this figure is not entirely fair. The fact is that the lens of the main, 16-megapixel camera, framed by a thin red frame, protrudes from the smartphone case by a good millimeter so that it does not scratch when the gadget is on the table.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro with screen on
From the point of view of the location of the controls, the smartphone is not much different from its counterparts on the Android operating system. At the bottom of the front panel are three hardware keys with a barely noticeable backlight - "Menu", "Home" and "Back". Above - speaker and a 5 megapixel webcam.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro - front panel
The elongated power button is placed on the right side, under the thumb. The button is metal, with a short and distinct stroke. Next to it is a tray for two Micro-SIM cards, which is removed using a regular "iceclip". Sims are installed one after another in one slot.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro - SIM card slot
The Micro-USB interface is placed on the bottom end. There is also an external speaker slot. A universal 3.5 mm jack for connecting a wired headset is located on the top end. The volume control is placed on the left end, under the middle finger of the right hand. The location of the keys is good - despite large dimensions smartphone, you don't have to reach for them.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro - side ends
The back panel of the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro is textured, but at the same time smooth, with an interesting three-dimensional effect - brushed metal shimmers nicely in the light. It is noteworthy that, despite the smooth surface, the smartphone does not slip out of the hands at all. The gadget comes in black, gold and titanium colors.

Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro - system and hardware information by data CPU-Z applications
⇡ Display
The Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, as we said, has a fairly large display even by modern standards. Its diagonal is six inches, the resolution is Quad HD, or, as Lenovo calls it, 2KHD. However, we are not yet accustomed to such designations, in numbers the resolution looks clearer and more convincing - 1440x2560 pixels, that is, higher than Full HD. Vibe Z2 Pro is the second Quad HD smartphone officially delivered to Russia. The first is the already mentioned LG G3.
Of course, such a high resolution does not leave users a single chance to see individual dots - the “pixelation” effect is completely absent. Even people with eagle eyes will be impressed by such a smooth image, which in its nature is really close to high-quality printing. It's no joke - almost 490 dpi! The Z2 Pro's display is easy to read - even small text thanks to the very high resolution, looks sharp. The only remark we have about the multi-touch layer: the gadget sometimes allowed itself not to respond to gestures like swiping. We hope this is a flaw in our test instance.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro - the screen recognizes up to ten simultaneous touches
Of course, the display has a polarizing filter and an oleophobic coating, and the screen itself is installed close to protective glass- there is no air gap between them. Thanks to this, the device can be used outdoors in bright sunlight - the screen, of course, glares a little, but the information on it remains accessible for perception. There is no need to look for a shadow when working with Vibe Z2.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro - Display Settings
The smartphone has several screen modes: "Standard", "High brightness mode" and adaptive mode, which softens the negative impact of the LCD on the owner's eyes during prolonged use. This is realized due to a “softer” color scheme with a significant deviation in warm tones. There is also a custom mode with which the user can set the color temperature, saturation and contrast. True, you won’t have to use it: let’s open the maps, the screen of the Vibe Z2 Pro is set up very, very well (and we are holding back in our assessment). We studied the first two modes in detail - and came to the conclusion that the rest can simply not be touched.
Brightness in standard mode can be varied from 16 to 571 cd/m 2 . Until recently, for many smartphones, 300 cd / m 2 was a good value, but now it is quite a common result. For the flagships of 2014, it’s a minimum. It would seem that 571 cd / m 2 is more than enough for any, even the most difficult conditions use. So no, using a special mode, you can increase the screen brightness to a record 725 cd / m 2! With such brightness, the smartphone screen can be used as a flashlight.
We measure the luminosity of the black and white fields on pictures half-filled with each color, which eliminates the possibility of dynamic brightness adjustment under specific color. Even at the maximum level of the display backlight, the black color is highlighted slightly - 0.46 cd / m 2 in normal mode and 0.59 cd / m 2 in bright. The values for such a bright display are just excellent - blacks remain rich and deep even at 100% screen brightness. True, if you look away from the perpendicular, black acquires a slight purple tint. Due to this, the Vibe Z2 display turned out to be very contrasty - 1230: 1. The result without embellishment is excellent. Few smartphones in 2014 can boast such a bright and contrasting screen.
However, that's not all. The screen of the Vibe Z2 Pro smartphone never ceased to amaze us during testing. For example, the color temperature of shades of gray is finely tuned. In normal mode, it averaged 6300 K, and in “bright” mode, it was the reference 6500 K! Thanks to this, the image looks exactly as the authors intended it, without deviations in cold or warm tones.
All gamma curves as a whole are also close to the standard. If you nitpick, you can see that the blue and red components are slightly pulled up along the entire length, and the gray one, on the contrary, is somewhat omitted. However, when working with the device, this is not noticeable at all - the deviation is too small. It is much more important that even in the “bright” mode, the gamma levels go close to the standard, although they could well “go” up for the sake of greater brightness. In other words, the color reproduction remains natural even when the backlight level is increased.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro - smartphone screen color gamut compared to sRGB color space
The color gamut of the display almost completely matches the sRGB reference space in both modes. In general, the display of the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro is simply excellent - both in terms of characteristics and in terms of settings. Everyone would have such displays!
: angular body, high-quality metal, emphasis on the camera in the design of the rear panel. And of course, high performance and a decent display. But there is a small nuance: the Vibe Z2 has an HD-resolution display, and its processor is positioned as a mid-range solution. Although in real life the model produces a more pleasant impression than the typical average price of $ 400.
What's this?
Dualsim Lenovo smartphone from the flagship Vibe Z line in a metal case with a high-capacity battery (3000 mAh), high performance, a 13-megapixel camera and a high-quality 5.5-inch IPS display, although with an unimpressive resolution of 720x1280 pixels ( 267 ppi).
What else is interesting about him?
With its 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor - the first processor with this architecture in the Qualcomm line.
And how is it with performance, with the work of applications?
Partly due to the power of the processor, partly due to the low screen resolution and generous 2 GB of RAM for it Lenovo memory Vibe Z2 easily coped with any tasks that I hung on it without delay, freezes, and even more glitches. The list of games on duty - Temple Run 2, Real Racing 3, Dead Trigger 2, Asphalt 8 - overcame effortlessly (sorry for the tautology). couple dozen installed applications swallowed it like it had unlimited performance resources. Although Lenovo sins by installing mountains of unnecessary software in its smartphones (games, Yandex services, applications of dubious usefulness), and after removing these applications, a lot of resources are freed up, all the same, neither out of the box nor after installing even the beds of their favorite software, the user does not will get a thoughtful metal bar instead of a nimble gadget. The model had no problems with the smoothness of the interface. The smartphone software (the gadget works out of the box on Android 4.4.4, Lenovo's proprietary launcher is used on top of the OS) is perfectly adapted to new processor. The only thing the model lacks for the title of a full-fledged new flagship is the screen resolution. But even FullHD would have reduced its performance.
I also had no problems installing and running applications.
How long does he work?
Usually when I take a smartphone for review, I turn off all the functions related to energy saving in it - both the corresponding modes and any restrictions. I don't usually use Bluetooth. Mobile Internet- from time to time, but for tracking physical activity I turn on GPS and maximum accuracy in determining the location, often turn the screen brightness to the maximum manually (not all manufacturers can boast of the correct operation of auto-backlight in the sun in their gadgets. I usually take pictures a little, I listen to music on several hours a day, I play mainly undemanding games for an hour or two, spend a couple of hours chatting in instant messengers and reading the Internet. Lenovo mode The Vibe Z2 worked for me for a day and a half, which for its 5.5-inch display and 3000 mAh battery is not a record, but not a weak indicator either. Flagship samsung galaxy Note 4 and its two predecessors would have worked in such conditions a little longer, but I practically never let them out of my hands, otherwise their batteries lasted for a working day, a maximum of one and a half. But there were devices that held the charge weaker. If you turn on the energy-saving mode in the smartphone settings and use it with the same intensity, you get two days of battery life.
And what about the screen?
The display of the Lenovo Vibe Z2 deserves both compliments and criticism. His strengths is high brightness, comfortable for viewing the screen on a sunny day (425.67 cd / m 2), responsiveness, high-quality oleophobic coating, the ability to change the color temperature in the settings. Weak - not outstanding (although not bad, to be honest) calibration, low brightness in bright sunlight with automatic adjustment backlighting (auto-adjustment does not shine, you have to turn it off and turn the brightness to the maximum), lack of support for working with gloves, low resolution. Although the resolution can be argued and argued. In fact, HD is enough for such a diagonal (after all, it turns out 267 ppi), but since FullHD is already found in other smartphones of inexpensive brands for the same money, at this point we can safely complain that HD is now officially not enough for us.

He looks good?
If you liked the design of Lenovo K900, then you will like the design of this model too. I'm not a big fan of metallic sheen and clean lines, the Lenovo Vibe X2 is more to my taste. But I admit that the smartphone looks nice and noble, and not at all cheap. The rear of the Vibe Z2 is covered with an all-metal plate, which also protects the long ends. And the short ones are covered with black plastic, connectors and communication modules are hidden in it.
Feels good in the hand, but the back cover is a little slippery.
The camera sticks out a little, which, however, does not affect anything.
However, if you read our Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro review, then you will not find anything new in this model. The design is the same, the dimensions are slightly smaller. Case impressions are similar.
What's new in the interface?
Everything you need to know about the interface of Lenovo smartphones can be gleaned from our reviews of previous models from the manufacturer of the same generation:
Does he shoot well?
Lenovo Vibe Z2 is equipped with a 13-megapixel camera with FullHD video recording, flash, autofocus and optical stabilization. Lenovo Vibe Z2 can also be classified as a selfie device - it got an 8-megapixel front camera. It shoots beautifully in low light, albeit slowly. By the light table lamp you can comfortably talk with video communication and make decent “selfies”. But I have complaints about the main camera. She shoots at an average level, yielding to flagship smartphones in quality, but still allowing you to take normal photos in normal lighting. But the problem is that it removes by the standards of the present time indecently slowly. Because of this, images often turn out to be blurry - either the hand will tremble, or the passerby will turn up inopportunely. In general, see for yourself (and here - in the original resolution).
What are the alternatives?
If you like the Lenovo brand, you might as well check out the Vibe X2. The smartphone has a chic body design, a better display (with FullHD resolution and glove support). But it works a little less stable than the Z2, so it's more suitable for beautiful fifas than picky geeks. Like the Z2, the X2 lacks support for memory cards and flaunts only a built-in 32GB drive. Both smartphones are in price category up to 8,000 hryvnia ($400).
With the current leapfrog with the exchange rate of the domestic currency, the price plays against the novelty rather than for it. Because for an additional thousand and a half hryvnia today you can already buy last year's flagships: and those will have a more serious camera, and a sharper screen, and even most likely with support for gloves, and Snapdragon processor 800 series, the most powerful. So, LG G3 and HTC One (M8) are sold on the Internet for 9000 hryvnias. Okay, HTC, it has a screen size half an inch smaller and the camera doesn't shine. But the LG G3 is a very tempting candidate. Samsung fans will be able to afford Galaxy Alpha for 9000 hryvnia, and pragmatic HTC fans will be able to afford the hit of 2013, HTC One. But if your limit is 7.5-8 thousand hryvnias and Lenovo is listed among your favorite brands, you can safely take the Vibe Z2, a pleasant smartphone in life, even though the camera let it down.
In the dry matter
Lenovo Vibe Z2 is an interesting and pleasant smartphone with a smart interface, balanced “stuffing” and a noble body. It has one critical drawback - it's a slow camera. For some users, the lack of a microSD slot may also be a stumbling block, although the built-in memory allows you to limit yourself to nothing for a long time. If you prefer gadgets in a metal case, and in a smartphone you would rather appreciate a large diagonal and a smooth interface than a fast camera, then this model is for you. If photography is more valuable to you, and there are extra 1-1.5 thousand hryvnias in your pocket, then it would be more correct to buy something from last year's flagships.
4 reasons to buy Lenovo Vibe Z2:
- high performance and smooth interface;
- high capacity battery;
- metal case;
- bright screen with good color reproduction.
2 reasons not to buy Lenovo Vibe Z2:
- the camera is slow, very slow;
- no support for memory cards.

Good with adequate pricing policy The company's products have a low percentage of defective copies.
What do we have on this moment? Mobile Solutions Lenovo is able to compete on equal terms with models from companies such as Asus, LG and Samsung. Moreover, this statement is true not only for devices of the budget and medium ranges, but also for the premium segment.
An excellent example of a smartphone from major league is Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro. About him, and the story will go on.

The specifications of the device at first sight leave no doubt about the high performance of the device, but the price tag puts it in the class of flagship solutions.
But does the offer match its price and will the gadget justify the “Pro” prefix in the title? Well, it's time to figure it out.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro Packaging and Contents
When testing top-class devices, you can already understand by the quality of the box how carefully the manufacturer approached the development. And the hero of the review did not disappoint.
The smartphone comes in a box consisting of three elements: covers, bases and covers.
Let's start with the cover. If only because it is not often necessary to meet such a solution. So, it closes the box almost completely. Short ends and a small corner of the box, on which the manufacturer's logo is applied, remain open.
The cover is made of cardboard, though not quite ordinary. It is velvety to the touch. The front side sports an embossed glossy "VIBE" inscription. The full name of the device is printed on the end, and the back contains full information about the characteristics of the model.
But the most interesting thing can be seen only by looking inside. On the inside, just below the inscription "VIBE", we read: "THIS IS MY VIBE". A sort of highlight especially for the owner. It seems to be a trifle, but nice.
Let's move on to the box itself and its contents. It is made of dense and thick cardboard, so you don't have to worry about the safety of the device during transportation.
AT color scheme dark color prevails. The front side is decorated with an interesting geometric ornament. The manufacturer's logo flaunts in one corner, and there is a holographic sticker next to it warranty service(may not be available on commercial copies).
The long ends are completely empty. On one of the short edges, we again see the logo, and on the other, a sticker with service information about a particular instance: serial number, IMEI, and so on.
The back side is almost empty and contains only a logo and minimal information about the manufacturer. Separately, it is worth noting the presence of a factory seal. When buying, make sure you are the first person to open the package.
Let's look inside. The attention to detail is also evidenced by the fact that the box is painted not only on the outside, but also on the inside.
The hero of the review lies on a rigid stand that completely follows the contours of the device. To get it without turning the box over is not an easy task.
If you pull the paper tab, then together with the stand we will raise the case with technical documentation, a paper clip to open the SIM card tray and a protective film for the screen.
At the very bottom there is a stand for complete accessories. They were absent in our test sample.
Most likely, the buyer will find a power adapter here and USB cable. Although the recesses of the stand can be assumed and the presence of a wired headset.
The package includes:
- Power adapter;
- USB cable;
- A paperclip to open the SIM card slot;
- Screen protector;
- Wired headset (maybe).
We can sincerely praise the manufacturer for the excellent workmanship and materials that were used to produce the packaging. The box turned out to be strong and will reliably protect the smartphone from damage. Nothing can be said about the quality of the complete accessories, but the presence of a protective film surprised me. How often does it come with flagship devices?
We are all well aware of the company's activity in the mobile market. Russian users are very loyal not only to personal computers of this brand, but also to the smartphones of the brand. And the Chinese giant has several lines, the range of models of which is constantly updated.
In support of the current advanced model Vibe Z2 Pro, a more modest, but quite interesting Vibe Z2, presented last year at IFA 2014, arrived in time.
For someone who is not ready to shell out a tidy sum in a crisis, is not very greedy for features, but at the same time wants to look after something nice and special, we offer our review of the Vibe Z2.
The device will be available for sale (until Russian stores this model is very rare) with 32 GB of internal memory for data storage and two SIM-cards. Vibe Z2 is officially shipping to Russian market and accompanied by appropriate support. Available in white, gold and titanium body colors. The approximate cost of a smartphone at the moment is 24,000 rubles.
Let's start with a detailed study of Lenovo Vibe Z2 short description its parameters.

In theory, Vibe Z2 should take place between Vibe Z and Vibe Z2 Pro. But judging by the parameters, he is not very suitable for this position. Although much has not changed much compared to its predecessor, the screen resolution has become lower, and the hardware is weaker. At the same time, the manufacturer tightened communication capabilities, updated operating system and made a more stylish metal case. The processor is now 64-bit. It turns out that last year's flagship looks more attractive in terms of performance than the Vibe Z2. But the latter in many other respects better meets the current market requirements and outwardly looks more advantageous.
We will assume that this is just a simplified version of Lenovo's leader in the mobile segment, the Vibe Z2 Pro smartphone. Or you can hardly consider the device as a successor to the popular Lenovo K900. Well, some manufacturers are notorious for creating multiple models and confusing consumers by providing gadgets with names that do not always exactly match the essence.
Lenovo Vibe Z2 Packaging and Contents
The Lenovo smartphone entered the test without packaging. But most likely the box and package will not differ significantly from Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro.
According to our data, among the accessories will be:
- USB cable;
- Charger (presumably 5 V, 1.0 A);
- Headphones-headset;
- Clip to remove the SIM card;
- Documentation.
Now let's move on to the device itself.
Appearance and design Lenovo Vibe Z2
The hero of the review is made in a non-separable case. The entire front panel is occupied by glass, under which the screen is located.
The back is covered with a metal cover, in our case golden. Its surface is polished and matte, but smooth and quite actively collects fingerprints. The edging of the side ends is metal, since it is part of the rear panel. And the lower and upper ends are made of black plastic.
Appearance Vibe Z2 can be called original, stylish and even brutal in some details. At the same time, the manufacturer's desire to maintain quality with reasonable savings is felt.
The case itself is thin, its thickness is 7.8 mm. The side edges of the rear panel are slightly smoothed. Only the corners of the smartphone from the front panel remained sharp.
Holding the device is not very convenient, as the width of the case is decent, and the corners dig a little into the palm of your hand. And with the fingers of one hand with such a diagonal of the screen, you definitely can’t reach anywhere.
The device is 148.5 mm high and 76.4 mm wide. The bezels on the sides of the display are narrow, leaving more space at the bottom and top. The mass of the device is 158 g (weighing confirmed this parameter). According to this characteristic, the smartphone feels normal for its size.
All hardware buttons and connectors are located on the ends.
Above the screen are the event and charge indicator, front camera, earpiece, light and proximity sensors. The speaker received a medium-sized slot, covered with a grill, and is located in a convenient place.
The indicator blinks blue every three seconds for missed events and glows red when charging. It is not very bright and may be difficult to see from long distance and from different angles.
Below the screen are three standard touch buttons, which are almost invisible without backlight.
They are illuminated with a dull white color.
The main camera is located at the top left of the rear panel. The camera module is fixed with screws, it is stylish and unusual, but protrudes above the level of the case. In this regard, the edging of the camera may be scratched, and the smartphone itself will lie unevenly on the table.
Nearby are a dual LED flash and an additional microphone. Immediately we see the inscription that the local 13-megapixel camera has received optical stabilization.
At the bottom of the rear panel is only a plastic strip. Apparently, it plays the role of an antenna.
The 3.5mm headphone jack is on the top.
Below, under the slots, there is a spoken microphone and one speaker. There is a USB connector in the center.
The right side contains the power button and dual volume rocker.
The left side got a retractable slot for a Micro SIM card.
The slot received a design that allows you to install two Micro SIM-cards.
The quality of the materials and their processing are good. Metal and plastic of sufficient thickness, they do not look like a premium, but worthy. The case is assembled very well, there are no crunches and squeaks when twisting and pressing. The fit of the parts is precise and tight, the gaps are the same everywhere.
Controls and connectors are conveniently located. The size of the buttons is sufficient, they are pressed with a noticeable and intelligible click. The work of the vibration motor is felt average. Sensors and sensors do not malfunction. With active use, the body of the device heats up within comfortable limits for perception.
The appearance of the smartphone evokes positive emotions, but its size and shape do not have the best effect on ease of use.
