Where there is a file system, there is a file manager. Where is the file manager, there good manager and bad manager. Which popular Android file manager would you choose to organize your files?

Most file systems, with the exception of iOS and Mac OS X, store files as a file system, an interface through which a user can access a file by knowing the path to it. The file manager is also known as File Explorer. The word conductor implies the frequent actions that take place between the paths. An effective guide is the most important tool in determining the speed of your task.

Traditional explorers, they are also file managers, simply display data in the form of a tree. Advanced users can directly open folders for specific purposes, such as /mnt/sdcard/download for downloaded content and /mnt/sdcard/bluetooth for files transferred via Bluetooth. However, all these actions imply an understanding of the operation of the system itself. The iOS and Mac OS X operating systems, as well as the new File Explorers, provide an alternative in hopes of nullifying user awareness of the traditional file system and disguising it with a few "Favorite" folders. The latter are especially friendly to users who are not going to devote too much time to optimizing the system. And as you can imagine, a capable file browser must adapt to both requirements. It is for these purposes that we have selected the two best applications. Follow me to find out which app is right for you.

PS:file explorer is the official name of the FX File Explorer app in the store Google Play. In order not to confuse this application WithES file explorer, henceforth in the text we will call it fx file explorer .

Welcome page

Not all applications can be easily used without clear guidance. Developers are trying to solve the problem of practical use in two ways: reducing the complexity of use by introducing appropriate design; Preparing the welcome page the first time you run the application. Both conductors applied the second method.

ES File Explorer

The ES File explorer application showed only two basic gestures: zoom and pan. Zoom in is for hiding/showing the action bar at the top and bottom, and shift is for slide out menu and window/clipboard shortcuts. This is good for impatient users who don't like to wait for a long time, but it can also seem unnecessarily simple and crude, since there is no additional explanation.

.FX File Explorer

The FX File Explorer app offers step by step guide. The manual describes the details of the meaning of each icon. Allowing users to view and learn about accessibility Apps with a guide is a great idea. FX offers a number of innovative ways to work with files, and rather than leaving them unnoticed, I only recently personally mastered them. It's good when a developer has something to brag about. On the other hand, some users simply do not have the patience to explore all the offered charms of a particular application.

Please also note that the FX developers have created a non-interactive manual. Screenshots are used only once. Practical sense suggests that images take up more space than codes and are less intuitive than simply encouraging users to try to do everything themselves. Although, having evaluated this particular text, it is not so bad.

Main page

ES File Explorer

ES File explorer places the most relevant content for users in the first row. The application has a built-in mini-gallery and media player. Although they provide limited functionality, they are an integral part of File Explorer.

The second row contains data on the use of the SD card (depending on specific device, it could be internal storage). They lead to the root path of the SD card, although I incorrectly thought that this was meant to be cleared.

In terms of tools, the Net Disk tool is mainly for Chinese users; The System Manager, I'm sure, is just a link to another application that ES File Explorer itself calls its "module"; from the name it is clear that the basket (Recycle Bin) is the place where deleted files. Its principle of operation is similar to the Windows recycle bin.

Other tools of the application deserve special attention. Remote Manager is an FTP module through which you can manage files remotely, just like . FTP is a common and widely used data transfer standard supported by major systems. The Send Files feature works on the principle of WiFi Direct technology, which is still state of the art and seems a bit underdeveloped. I tried WiFi Direct many times but all connections failed. It seems to me that you can download and install ES File Explorer just for the sake of using the File Upload technology.

To my surprise and shock, the so-called bookmarks put the user in a complete stupor: Only the Download parameter indicates the physical path to the device, the rest of the bookmarks are website bookmarks! I'm just wondering why Music (Music) should be tied to Google Play Music, Images (Images) to Google Images. Where is the logic? This is indeed file manager,but not web browser!

Wait, that's not the biggest surprise yet. Touch the “toolbox” and you will see what these “tools” are: this is a page where other applications are advertised! And it's on the main screen of the file manager and takes up a whole separate button! Almost all the apps recommended here are Chinese, which is clearly some kind of collaboration program. In my humble opinion, this is all unacceptable and inappropriate.

.FX File Explorer

The main page of FX File Explorer is presented in grid view by default. You can change the layout to your liking, allowing you to bookmark your most visited folders. The app's interface is crisp and clean, one touch redirects you exactly where you need to go. The screenshot on the right shows how I arranged my home page. Unlike ES File Explorer, the bookmark links here lead to a physical location, not a network location (such as FTP, SMB, and other protocols) and not to web pages.

FX File Explorer also provides sensible categorized folders that show files in groups by type.

One frustrating point is that users can only decide which feature to display and which not to; reorganizing the icon layout looks impossible.

Exploring Local Files

One major improvement to ES File Explorer is folder labeling. The program indicates on the folders the applications by which they are used. It is considered common practice that some applications read the content from the storage rather than /data/data/ , as the data will be erased when the application is uninstalled. Applications can store backups and settings files in /mnt/sdcard/ .

The FX File Explorer application has similar labeling, but only for data and system-related folders. As you can see in the figure, the DCIM folder is for storing photos, and the Downloads folder is where downloaded files are stored.

View mode may not be suitable or inconvenient for some types of files. You can always change it from the View menu at the bottom of the toolbar. One example is to switch the icon display mode when viewing pictures (or music with album art).

Copying and pasting are the main actions with files. On desktop systems, users can open more than one window in order to cut, copy, and paste content within open windows. The Android OS itself does not encourage the idea of a "window" in the system, but it does not prevent developers from using windows in applications. In ES Explorer, you can scroll the screen to switch between different windows or tap the Windows (Windows) button to see thumbnails of all open windows.

FX File Explorer does not support switching between windows. Instead, it supports split windows. For devices with wider screens, the split window only marginally increases the efficiency of file operations. The app also supports clipboard so you can copy and paste files even from different locations.

Both conductors work fine in all three modes. They also display relevant information and have a coherent user interface design. In the case of the FX file explorer, it tries to look like an embedded material design application, although many of the buttons are there for other purposes. One interesting example seen in the second picture above. A floating button should never be attached to a slide-out menu.

File categorization

Unlikely image search by different places and trails of your device will bring you a lot of joy, even with multiple windows. Imagine what is most in your phone. Is it photos, music, videos and apps? Therefore, a good file manager should be able to give you access to them in one place so that you can save time and have a cup of coffee.

ES File Explorer gathers all the images into a single gallery-like window. There are thumbnails that indicate the folder in which certain images are located. Basically, there is nothing more to say. You can also switch to Photo View, which will display all photos in sequence.

The Music tab is a mess. ES File Explorer simply treats music files as normal and only displays album art. Obviously my album covers can't tell one song from another. I'm sure this is not an isolated case. If you touch the “Player” button, then it is displayed only with the playlist, there are no sorting or filtering options. It seems to me that music lovers will not like it at all.

Application management is similar to the usual file exploration. You can change the view in the same way as with regular files. You can also sort apps by name, type, size, and modified date. It is also possible to selectively determine which applications to display: system, user, installed locally, updated, etc. Despite the compact icons, the applications tab is completely empty.

Unlike the previous application, the FX file explorer is more competent in this matter. The images tab not only includes a preview of up to 3 images in their respective folders, but also displays pie chart, by which you will understand the storage structure.

The music tab compensates for the display of icons in the normal file explore process. Also displayed here hidden folders such as ringtones, notifications, and alarms. Music lovers will appreciate browsing by artist, album, playlist and all tracks.

The apps tab is also beautifully executed. Graphic designations are much better than simple numbers. The list of applications is convenient and it indicates the name of the application package. You can't think of anything better than this.

Network exploration

Modern file managers go beyond local files. We are gradually moving to the cloud, and network exploration is an important element of this move. Our example is based on the SMB protocol on a local network.

ES File Explorer

ES file explorer definitely deserves praise in this test. It can scan for an available device on the same network. All you need is to provide credentials. However, you can manually add the server.

FX File Explorer only supports manually adding servers. The supported types are far fewer compared to ES File Explorer.

Both explorers instantly get to the network location and can play media files stored in the remote storage. Both explorers do this well, only ES File explorer does it an order of magnitude better than FX file explorer thanks to its network discovery feature. This can be very useful in some cases (no need to confirm the server's IP address and protocol, etc.).

Conclusion

Both explorers proudly bear the title of “best explorer” granted to them by the Google Play store. However, there are certain differences between them. ES File explorer has an old design style and classic features. It will not seem difficult to you to master and it also does not present any surprises. The developers of FX File Explorer are trying to apply the latest design trends, albeit with some glitches. File Explorer provides a more unified theme and usage, although you may need to take some time to get used to this File Explorer.

Personally, I would recommend FX File Explorer only because ES File Explorer is "infected" with promoting other applications in very obscene ways. The developer should hide the ads until the users want to support them themselves. Don't you think so?

Explorer++ is a free file manager that extends the capabilities of the standard Windows Explorer.

The program allows you to create tabs (tabs), thanks to which the user can work in one window with several folders at once, knows how to rename entire batches of files, has options for saving to the system registry.

Compared to a regular explorer, Explorer ++ has impressive functionality, supports hotkeys and is fully Russified. In addition, you can download Explorer++ for free.

File manager Explorer++ features:

  • customizable user interface. Although the program is similar to the standard windows explorer Explorer, it is possible to change its appearance by adding the necessary options or, conversely, removing unnecessary ones.
  • The function of merging and splitting files into parts, changing the date and file attributes.
  • Using "hot keys" to perform basic and advanced operations. The necessary key combinations are easy to remember, but using them in your work, you can significantly speed up navigation, the process of searching for files, etc. By the way, the search itself is carried out both by name and by file attributes.
  • The ability to preview all images that are on the hard drive of the computer and external drives.
  • Full support for drag-and-drop operations.
  • Small size. Explorer program++ does not need to be installed - just download it and run the necessary file.
  • Work in 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems.

To ensure full portability of the application, after installation, create a file called config.xml in the program folder.

To add the Russian language to the program, download the archive with the Russification file, and extract the file Explorer++RU.dll to file folder Explorer++.exe. Close and restart the program. Turn on the Russian language in the Tools - Options settings.

Looking for a file manager for Android that has many features, good design and sync? Then this article is for you. In it you will learn about the Root Explorer (Root Explorer).

What is Root Explorer

Root Explorer is an explorer on an Android device that requires root rights. The application has wide functionality, for example, working with archives, transferring files and other functions. Can sync with the cloud. The application has won an audience of 10 million people.

The application works only on devices with superuser rights. This gives access to view the contents of system and regular files. For example, you can view system folders and files in them. Listed below are some of the features that this Explorer is capable of.

  • Archiving and unpacking ZIP and RAR archives.
  • Synchronization with cloud storages Dropbox and Google Drive.
  • Offers to open the desired file with the program you need.

  • Fast processing of even heavy archives on weak devices, for example, unpacking an archive with a game of 200-300 megabytes takes only 3-5 seconds on a typical device.
  • Work with application databases using the SQLite Viewer utility.

Nevertheless, even with such an extensive set of functions, Root Explorer has advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages of Root Explorer

  • There is a function to transfer files via Bluetooth, E-Mail and other methods.
  • Working with system folders
  • Works with all brands and models of devices. The main Android is not lower than 2.3 and the presence of root rights.

Minuses

Need root to access system files. Also the app is not free. Its cost is 175 rubles. Free version in Play market there is, but it has greatly reduced functionality.

About application databases on Android

Root Explorer includes such a utility called SQLite Database Viewer. It is needed because Android applications and games store information about themselves or information about saves (for example, games) in SQLite databases. The SQLite Viewer utility helps you view these databases. Now that you have learned the functionality of the program, its pros and cons, you can try it in action and download Root Explorer from our website. You can also write an opinion about this program, tell about your experience with this explorer in the comments. Recall that Root Explorer can be downloaded for free from our website.

And GIF animations, and PDF documents, and some archives, and much more. How to sort all this? And how to quickly go to the file we need without getting lost when looking for it? Only using the file manager. Or "Explorer", as Windows experts call it. A huge number of such applications have been released for the Android operating system. We will try to tell you about the best of them.

Remember your desktop computer if you have one. Or at least a laptop. This device contains great amount photos, documents, music, and especially those files whose extensions won't tell you anything. Modern smartphones become more and more like computers.

They have a processor of similar power, a considerable amount of memory and a variety of various sensors. In this regard, we are starting to use smartphones in the manner of a computer. This means that such devices also accumulate a huge number of files. That is why you definitely need to install a file manager for Android in Russian. But which "explorer" should be downloaded? Here the choice is up to you. We will only talk about best apps of such kind.

File Manager for Android Total Commander

Surely many of our readers use Total Commander on their computer. This is a great two-window file manager. It is possible to implement a similar principle of operation on smartphones and tablets, but it will turn out to be inconvenient - it will simply be impossible to hit the tiny buttons and file names with your finger.

Therefore, the Android version of Total Commander is single-windowed at first glance. In tablet mode, there are already two panels. But with its help it is not difficult to rename files, move them, copy and perform other actions. And there is also the ability to connect via FTP or even via . That is, you can connect an external hard drive to your router and view its contents through the application!

The file manager for Android offers to work with archives in ZIP or RAR formats for free. Yes, you read that right: the application is distributed free of charge, unlike its computer counterpart!

The main advantage of Total Commander is its performance even on old smartphones. Users note that the file manager launches successfully even on Android 1.5. And under the control of this version, the first commercial android smartphone functioned!

Docs To Go

This explorer for Android is primarily designed for working with documents. There are separate buttons, clicking on which leaves only files in PDF, PPT, DOC and XLS formats visible. However, the utility will also work for managing other files - you can also perform various actions with them.

The application allows you to view not only the contents of the built-in memory and microSD cards. If your device supports OTG technologies, then a USB flash drive will also become visible. And with the help of Docs To Go, you can connect to - among the supported services are Google Drive, OneDrive, Box and Dropbox.

But the main advantage of the program is the fact that it can open office documents and even allows you to edit them! It turns out that you do not need to install on your smartphone or tablet office packages. Well, the disadvantage of the application is its high cost. Of course, there is also free version, but it is very limited in its functionality, and is also provided with advertising.

ES Explorer

This application is also known as ES File Explorer. It can be assumed that this is one of the simplest "conductors". Even those who recently picked up a smartphone for the first time will be able to deal with the program.

Here it is not necessary to go through the file system in search of music, images and any documents. The application contains separate buttons that immediately send you to the desired area of the file system. Also on the main page of the program, you can immediately see how much memory is currently occupied.

All in all, ES File Explorer offers traditional features. With it, you can copy and cut files, as well as rename them. Available here and work with archives. Other features include connection to cloud storage OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive and some others.

Built-in here and support for local networks along with FTP. In a word, this is an excellent file manager for Android, which you can download for free! Of the shortcomings of the utility, only the presence of advertising can be noted. If it annoys you, then you can buy the PRO version for about 180 rubles. It also allows you to customize your interface.

file manager

To some connoisseurs of the operating room Android systems this program is known as the Cheetah Mobile File Explorer. In terms of the interestingness of the interface, the application is inferior to many competitors - something similar was offered by Java applications.

Most of all, File Manager resembles, oddly enough, the traditional "Explorer" for some Windows XP. In terms of functionality, you should not expect anything unusual either. The file manager allows you to copy, cut, rename and perform other simple actions. Any directory can be added to Favorites so that you can get quick access to it in the future.

You can download the file manager for Android from Cheetah Mobile for free. In this case, you will get absolutely all the functionality - up to viewing a remote server via FTP or some other protocols. The interface has been translated into many languages, including Russian. The only downside is the ads that pop up from time to time. You can get rid of it only by purchasing the Pro version.

If you search Google Play for a file manager for Android in Russian, you will surely come across a huge number of programs that are called “File Manager”. In our case, we are talking about the fruit of the work of developers from Flashlight + Clock. This application has been downloaded over five million times.

Every few months it is updated - developers add new features. For example, in the summer of 2017, support for WebDAV and Yandex.Disk was introduced. As you already understood, the program has support for cloud storage - in addition to the Russian service, these are Google Drive and Dropbox.

The application allows you to perform a variety of operations with files. At the same time, the file manager provides access not only to documents, videos and musical compositions. With this program, you can even access all applications installed on the device - including copying them to another area of the file system. The utility also understands connecting to NAS and FTP servers. Through the same FTP, you can establish a connection to a PC.

solid explorer

If you need an Android explorer in Russian, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with Solid Explorer. Especially if the files you need are contained not only in the smartphone itself. The fact is that here you can easily access the information stored on the memory card.

And if your device has OTG support, then a USB flash drive will also be available! But that's not all. Using Solid Explorer, you can connect to the "cloud", an account on which you have already registered. Supported services include Yandex.Disk, Dropbox, and OneDrive. And in the corresponding list of connection types you will find FTP, SFTP, WebDav and LAN.

The application is able to please the built-in archiver. Supported formats include both ZIP and RAR. From unique features Utilities include support for Chromecast and third-party plugins. And on a tablet, you'll enjoy a dual-pane mode that simplifies everything you do.

If you think about it, Solid Explorer is the best file manager for Android. The guys at NeatBytes did a great job. But pay attention to the fact that you can use all the functionality for free only for 14 days. Then for full set opportunities will have to pay.

Amaze File Manager

The most concise file manager in our selection. Surely, in terms of the width of the functionality, it will be very close to the "explorer" that is preinstalled on your smartphone. But it is precisely for its conciseness that many users love it. After all, many of them do not have an account in any cloud storage. Then why the corresponding function?

We can say that everything superfluous is excluded from Amaze File Manager. Only buttons leading to videos, photos, music and downloads remained here. The application also has a button leading to the DCIM directory - usually there are not only photos taken with the built-in camera, but also screenshots. A feature of the utility is support for themes. And there is also a built-in application manager - in case the standard one did not please you with something. This program is distributed free of charge.

Conductor

Of course, there could not be a program called “Explorer” on Google Play. This is a free file manager that offers a look at what documents, music tracks and photos are contained in the device's memory.

It provides traditional functionality - files are allowed to be moved, copied, renamed and some other actions can be performed with them. You can also view the contents of a memory card or USB flash drive using Explorer (if OTG is supported). Also, the developers have introduced the ability to connect to multiple cloud storage, which is also good news.

In general, the program cannot surprise with something like that. Yes, there is an application manager. Yes, the built-in archiver understands many different formats, including TGZ and TBZ. But almost all these functions are available in other file managers. Well, "Explorer" differs from them only in free. And even then it is conditional - if you want to disable the display of ads, you will still have to pay a certain amount.

File Expert

One of the rare file explorers that provide the ability to view the contents of the built-in memory in the form of a tree. At the same time, there is a full-fledged player that allows you to refuse to launch other applications in order to view or listen to media files.

And this is just one of the advantages of File Expert! It also has a built-in SQLite database editor. All sorts of protocols are also supported here, allowing you to view the file system of a remote server. For example, when FTP help and SMB you can even watch videos!

This file manager also has such a simple thing as text editor. It can save and open files with extensions .conf, .config, .log and many others. Another interesting feature of this "guide" is the presence of a shredder.

This function allows you to delete a file and overwrite it - recovery after that becomes impossible. Of course, there is also support for cloud storage - including almost all of the most popular ones. And if you sign up for the corresponding subscription, you will get 10 TB of space in GCloud.

Surprisingly, we haven't even listed half of File Expert's features! This must be one of the best "guides". But you will have to pay for all the functionality - this will scare away some smartphone owners.

Root Browser

A free explorer for Android called Root Browser is worth downloading only for those who have. This file manager is designed to give you access to hidden sections of the file system. You need to be extremely careful - deleting some important files can lead to damage operating system and "bricking" the device!

Unlike other "explorers", Root Browser can be called a professional application. It even has the ability to execute script files! Of course, the utility can also work with archives of different formats - it can even unpack the APKS file.

Any folders and files Help Root Browser, you can change permissions. The SQLite explorer is also present here. Almost any file can be edited, and their sorting can be done not only by name, but also by date.

In general, the application causes only positive emotions. However, you should remember that it is designed only for viewing the file system of a smartphone or memory card. There is no way to connect to the cloud storage and carry out other similar actions. But if you have root access, then you need to install this file manager anyway.

Now you know about all the file managers for Android that are worthy of a place in the built-in memory. However, do not rush to download and use such programs with might and main. Check out our short tips:

  • Do not go into hidden sections of the file system unless absolutely necessary. Random actions with operating system settings files or pre installed applications can lead to consequences that only a flashing can eliminate.
  • Immediately connect your cloud storage accounts to the file manager. This will allow you to appreciate such a cool feature if it is provided by your chosen “explorer”.
  • Train yourself to download media files from your computer using a file manager, over the air - this is much more convenient than when connected.
  • Use dual-pane mode on your tablet, if available. It is much easier to copy or move files in it.
  • Do not spare money for the paid version of the "explorer". It costs, as a rule, inexpensively, but at the same time it eliminates annoying ads and provides access to more functions.

These are our simple tips. Let's hope you find them useful!

Summarizing

It is possible that more advanced file managers will be released for the operating system in the future. But so far, the applications we have selected provide the greatest functionality. They also have the most convenient interface.

Here we will not talk about which particular “conductor” is the best. Each of the presented programs is good in its own way. We suggest that you gradually familiarize yourself with all the applications at once - especially since many of them are free.

What file manager have you used so far? Or did you not even think about installing it before reading our article? Share your opinion in the comments.

I'm like the most regular user, I do not understand the need for all these file managers and browsers. Well, that's perfect! There is also a menu that contains all the application shortcuts, each specialized program has a list of music, movies, books and other content. Why complicate the system even more? But at the same time, I can’t live a day, but what a day, not an hour, so as not to start the conductor. I myself don’t understand what I’m looking for - everything is trifles: either change the permissions, then rename something, then move the file ... Nothing significant, in a word. But it got to the point that without the explorer, I just can’t use the phone, and this is not a joke - after the firmware, until I install the explorer, I don’t do anything at all!

This is how the review began in its original draft, and its subject was supposed to be ES Explorer. But, having entered its name into the search on Helpix "e and read the reviews with comments, I suddenly discovered a lot of names that I either didn’t hear at all, or didn’t attach importance to them, but I sharply realized that I urgently need a new experience! In terms of choosing a browser in this case... So, maybe we'll try to choose together?

After looking at quite a lot miscellaneous information, I have identified the following contenders:

  • ES Explorer, I live with him for like three years, perhaps. In fact, I have never had anything else. Let's try to find an alternative;
  • ASTRO File Manager. Sony loves him for something very much, at least in almost all the phones and firmware of this company that I tried, this thing was preinstalled. And exactly until the moment when the phone fell into my hands - at the same moment this same manager was mercilessly cut out. Well, it's time to figure it out - maybe, after all, in vain?
  • file manager- that's how she simply called her brainchild Cheetah Mobile. I do not like this company with all the fibers, but how can you love them when the number of lines of advertising in applications exceeds the number of application functions. And everything shines like that, shimmers - the hand automatically swings, but the brain understands - it's a pity for the phone ... But 50 million downloads - such a breakthrough of people can't be wrong?!
  • Total Commander- the only reason why I don’t know him is that in 2012 he was completely unintelligible and ES donkey in the phone. But on the PC - only he, and for 10-15 years for sure. If at least something approximately functional - a real candidate! Although two panels on five inches - I can hardly imagine ...
  • Xplore File Manager- I did not know about its existence on Android! Truth. I got acquainted with the creation of "Lonely Cat" on Symbian's Nokia 7610 back in 2006 - there were no worthy analogues in principle! color palette;
  • root explorer. It is he who is advised in all forums to edit system resources. That's what I've always avoided for unknown reasons. He is the only one paid app(it's good that a little more than 100 rubles - otherwise it would have remained unknown). True, there is also a free version of it, but it is simply impossible to use it - only a number of very basic functions and that's it;
  • File Explorer- another. Maybe go to the namers? Think of names for them? Recognition is close to zero. It would be nice to have a basement developer, but no - the whole NextApp, Inc.! This is their well-known creation - System Panel. Well, the tweaker is there, the optimizer. I went through it, I remember ... Now I got to the browser;
  • solid explorer. To be honest, I have never heard of him at all - I read in the comments. I don't know the developer either. Opening, so to speak, will be. But let's see, maybe closing, on the contrary.

Here he introduced everyone. Now I want to pay attention to my criteria (they, of course, will differ from yours - everyone has their own felt-tip pen, but I will try to consider all the functionality as fully as possible):

  • interface (easy navigation through the contents of the phone, view in the form detailed list(I have already stopped paying attention to my oil oils), pleasant colors and the absence of an eye-cutting effect);
  • operations with files (copy-move procedure, getting data about file properties, renaming and other things);
  • support for archives (formats, encoding, working with files without unpacking);
  • operations with the system (access to system folders, setting permissions, etc.);
  • work with clouds and other network things.

    Somehow it all makes sense. In the course of the play, I will indicate the advantages or disadvantages, but not everywhere, but only where I was really "hooked", and if everything in the application is good or bad, but without unique features, I will not invent anything. Well, let's get started, shall we?

    Program interface

    ES Explorer. After starting, a window opens with icons for folders and files in the form of icons. I don't like it so much - I want a list. Therefore, the first thing we try to change, in addition, the "View" icon is located below.

    Total: three types of view with three sizes in each, and sorting is here, by the way. Small detailed - our everything!

    Swipe to the right will take us to the home page.

    By the way, at the top, if you look closely, you can see a set of icons indicating open tabs, you can move between them with a swipe, or you can try to get to the desired icon - this is not an easy task, frankly.

    Closes the current cross window, which is correct.

    The remaining categories of the home page are just as clear, in fact, this is a collection of all the main links to the main resources. It may be convenient, but I do not use it - it seems to me that this is an absolutely useless thing.

    Above the viewport is a two-level navigation bar - in one tap you can go up one level. If you tap into the current folder (with an arrow triangle), then we will get into the navigation history.

    I will note - this is a very convenient thing! So, at the very top, the main system storages are fixed here, and below are the folders where we were and the files that we opened.

    And if you swipe to the left of the very edge, a window will open with open windows and a clipboard - here you can easily go to desired tab or close any of them. The same menu can be called up with the "Windows" icon on the action bar.

    Let's go back to the bottom panel. We will skip the already familiar "View" button. "Update" - no comment. "Search" - in the same place as "Create". And there is nothing to comment on - we create a folder or file for ourselves and that's it.

    A swipe from the left edge or the button with three bars at the top will open the side menu. In general, it almost completely copies the already seen "Home Page": all the same bookmarks, only in profile. And with a small addition.

    The familiar "Bookmarks" gives us the ability to create any custom labels: folders, files, web pages. Yes, yes, it is Internet pages, and they open in the built-in Internet browser. I can’t say that it is at least something remarkable - the most common, without word wraps and any chips.

    The only point is a good re-layout of pages, and that's it. You don’t need more to view the weather and check mail, and for full surfing from the context menu, you can transfer the page to your favorite application at any time.

    Bookmarking any local object is very simple - just make a long tap and select "Add to bookmarks" in the "More" menu.

    You can, of course, do it through the plus sign from the bookmarks menu, but this is a way for those who have very, very much time and inspiration ...

    Again we see the repository and libraries. And here is a small addition: the "Tools" tab.

    In the means, in general, solid interestingness. So, in a seemingly ordinary download manager, you can enter the address of a file on the Web and download the file! I think that the idea is strange even at the level of the idea, but he knows how to simply intercept downloads perfectly.

    Task Manager will prompt us to download and install the appropriate program. I set - the usual optimizer without any features. But the music player - very even nothing. There are playlists, shuffle and repeat modes, among other things, you can set a melody for a call and an alarm clock.

    We'll leave the "List of Hidden" for later - we often postpone something for later, so let it be this option.

    By the way, at the time of writing this line, a notification from the File Manager Cheetah Mobile came out - it offers to free the memory.

    What for? Why does the conductor ask this question and generally climb into my RAM ?!

    But back to ES. Below is a set of switches:

  • basket (actually, all files from a memory card can be restored - complete removal from flash drives is a rather complicated thing), but here we are simplifying everything very much - a complete analogue of the Windows basket;
  • folder icons and thumbnails need no introduction;
  • show hidden files And the root-explorer is important. If you are going to climb into the system for any reason - this is for you;
  • gestures. When turned on, a round bulb appears in the center - you need to start the gesture with it. It would be necessary to create it right away, but for this you need to click not on the slider, but on the word "Gestures". You can select any application, folder, file, action (like "Back", "Cancel"). Comfortable.

    A lot of things, yes. And everything is so useful, so necessary ...

    Well, let's take a quick look at the two icons at the bottom of the panel.

    The first is themes, you can download another one with more expressive icons, or you can poke directly into the picture - then the settings dialog will open, in which you can select the color of everything.

    The second is settings. In the "File Settings" group, you can set up default folders, select a search engine on the Internet (do we remember that Explorer provides full and adequate access by regular means?) And other little things.

    The password settings will allow you to set a password for launching or accessing the network, or for hidden files (we haven’t talked about them yet - we left them for later, and this "later" has not yet come).

    Application settings - I don't know why Explorer can do this, but here you can enable the option to back up applications before deleting, and along with all the data. The function is certainly useful, but not here, not in the explorer - there is special programs like.

    By the way, a pinch takes the application to full screen, here.

  • wide settings for displaying the view with the ability to customize your own palette, calm gamma without any settings;
  • easy navigation between tabs;
  • informative sidebar and homepage;
  • the ability to create gestures and bookmarks for any resources.
  • ASTRO File Manager- Well, should we ever go to other participants, then ?!

    Hooray! Advertising! In general, I am for advertising and never turn it off, although I can, but developers are people too and should also eat, but you can put some filters - so that it doesn’t hurt your eyes ... Let yourself pop up a full-screen once every half an hour and launch-release ... But I don't like the brightly caustic banner, but, of course, the principle is the principle - I leave it.

    But here's the design itself - calmly Windows - yellow, with well-drawn folders, above which there is a navigation bar, similar in liberty to ES, but without a history button, which is not encouraging.

    In the ellipsis menu, you can select the "View settings" item. Hello, Google's English-Russian dictionary is called, judging by the content, - on the contrary, "View Settings". The settings, by the way, are concise and convenient.

    Below, in the paragraph "Manage places" you can rename our "places", using the terminology of the authors.

    Next to the menu is the filter button - in my humble opinion, a waste of space. Well, how often do you have movies, music, and so on in one folder? I - almost never - have everything in my folders, then why should I display only videos in the "Video" folder? Or documents - they are not there and never have been!

    Quick navigation is carried out from the side menu - all our repositories go in one list without any structure. When there are few of them, it's easy, but I have six clouds (or a cloud? difficult Russian) ...

    Search conditions (well, with translation) - the same global filters - only files are displayed not only from a specific folder, but also from attachments.

    Bookmarks are a good idea. Go to desired folder and in the properties select the appropriate option.

    That's the whole review of the appearance. It remains to look in the menu - there are two buttons in the same place - at the bottom of the sidebar.

    Tools.

    "Men adj" - this is the value of the cut copy file and delete. Who can explain why such a terrible reduction had to be made? The function is similar to EZ - backup and deletion, you can batch it, but you need a different soft in general.

    The task manager and the use of the map are the most common optimizer utilities that are familiar to everyone. I am a categorical opponent of the presence of any things that are not related to the essence of the program in the program itself.

    The settings, frankly, are very poor: the already familiar "Place Management", the display setting, similar to the seen plate, only in a different form and that's it.

  • well-drawn folders on a calm background.
  • At the same time, it is impossible to customize the interface, moving between storages is inconvenient, translation is frankly ridiculous. I do not find fault with the lack of additional goodies and chips - these are more advantages of competitors than disadvantages of the program, but translation, translation!

    file manager. Chita mobile, hold on - I got there, and maybe I'll even find where that crap is hiding, which shows unnecessary messages.

    The main screen resembles the ES File Explorer Home Page, only slightly more simplified and colorized.

    There are ads, but the ad is correct - it occupies the top line and scrolls along with the list, while nothing brightens or shines. Not surprisingly, after the amount of advertising that they cram into CleanMaster, they gained enough experience.

    The manager turns out to be two-paneled! But on different screens - a very good concept - on each panel you can open your own folder and move folders between them, theoretically.

    The view setting is next to the usual ellipsis and does not represent anything special: a simple list / icons selection (and a list with huge icons is obtained), and sorting is in the menu.

    Navigation is traditional from the side menu. Everything is categorized, not as neat as in ES, but much better than in ASTRO. There are also bookmarks - both for files and folders.

    But ASTRO-style settings are about nothing. You can enable root access and choose a dark or light theme. There is nothing to compare and consider here. But everything is convenient and simple - without complications.

  • the presence of adequate quick navigation in the menu;
  • Weak customization options.
  • Total Commander. The two panels are organized similarly to the previous hero. I do not know who first came up with such a concept, but the fact that it is convenient is undeniable. But what I don't understand is three arrows and two "equals" between the panels. The arrows move to the next panel, and "equal" makes one panel equal to the other (throws it to the same directory). This, in fact, is understandable, but why so many characters?

    The buttons at the top are folder history and bookmarks.

    The first - without questions, the second question is one - for what? So to pervert over the creation of a bookmark - you need to be able to. Only ES went further when he offered to write the path himself, but there it was in the form of an option for the strong in spirit - I created them just with a long tap. Here we need, by clicking on the arrows on the side, to select the object and folder ourselves (by default - the current folder), in which the bookmark will be reflected (you can not choose - it will be created in the current one) and even select a shortcut (you can use it from pictures, or you can remove it from which any application). Long way, difficult. Logical, understandable, but not mine ...

    The icons below are a pathetic semblance of the functionality of the desktop version:

    • highlight. You can select files or folders, you can use a mask (for example - *oto* - all files containing this combination of letters, "photo", for example) will be selected), you can remove or invert the selection;
    • incomprehensible button nearby. Here we can send the selected everything to the neighboring panel, or we can send it over the air ...
    • a cube - archiving is familiar to everyone, and you can choose the degree of compression, or you can set a password;
    • last button - turns on the root and the panel of additional buttons.

    All view settings are in the upper ellipsis. In fact, apart from full customization appearance, from the useful here is only switching the mode of two panels: side by side on the same window or in neighboring windows.

    I did not find quick navigation, although any location can be placed on the additional button bar - that's where we will have quick navigation.

    For me, it turns out something between ASTRO and Cheetah.

  • the ability to create your own button bar.
  • Xplore File Manager- remember everything is called, everything is exactly the same as a decade ago. Just added a second panel.

    The main window is a tree view of all resources. I can not say that it is convenient, on the other hand, but - the hands remember something. Everything is clear - I clicked on the plus sign, the folder expanded, and there was more in Windows 98. No transitions or navigation needed.

    In the "Display" item, you can configure the resources to be displayed.

    Between the panels is a menu of tools: elementary commands like "copy-paste". The list scrolls vertically, at the very bottom the "Journal" button is our only way to quickly navigate.

    Colors as before - I don’t like it, but I don’t pretend to be true.

    Buttons at the top: change the panel (this is the third shift: swipe, the button between the panels and, the third one, here), "beer" (to the developer, I mean - absolutely optional, from 45 rubles, inexpensive, it should be noted, they drink beer there ) and settings.

    What do we see? Dark/light theme, element size and font selection. Once upon a time, when Quake was only the third (when it was only the first, communicators were not at all popular), it was this item that saved us from bugs, but now the lack of a font is cured in five minutes and the item has lost its former greatness.

    There are no summary panels and bookmarks - a browser for those who are used to it on Symbian, but adapted to the current situation. But original!

  • original display principle.
  • File Explorer, this time from Next Inc. We are met by some kind of children's panel in the English dialect. The first thing that catches your eye is the inconsistency in the style of the icons. Moreover, their meaning is somehow different: the "Documents" folder does not find all the documents, as we saw it, but opens the "Documents" stock folder, in which I never had anything.

    Why do we need the "System" folder in the presence of "System / root", I still do not understand ...

    But the media categories are perfectly implemented - when opening, for example, music, we are not only given a list of melodies, but it is also sorted into semantic categories:

    CleaningTool is a strangely working file cleaner, and in Add-ons you can buy an extension for network access, download a root access module and download a strange theme - I didn’t, it scared me ...

    If we suddenly want to climb the vaults, a rather pleasant window with neutral colors awaits us. The view can also be changed in the "gear", there is also a choice of sorting type. And between them are a couple of options headed by "Show hidden" - show hidden files.

    In the ellipsis, try the filter - it displays folders and files by letter combination - again, it is convenient when searching for something and highlighting similar ones.

    If you want, create a bookmark. A new approach - now you can create a bookmark only on a folder (file - a shortcut is created on the desktop), and only for the one in which we are ...

    But the settings pleased. So you can choose one of several themes, choose an icon set, theme color, menu style, enable animation and all sorts of other things.

    In addition, you can select the displayed icons of the main window (however, you cannot add your own), customize the behavior of the "Back" button (exit by single or double clicking), in a word - there is to turn around where in the wild ...

    Under customization there are "Management" categories, in which we select commands from the context menu of files and connect the built-in viewer.

    Of the unspecified, but important, I note the ability to select the download folder that will be displayed, and simple text editor settings.

    Despite its shortcomings, I liked the application - a calm appearance along with wide settings.

  • wide possibilities of customization.
  • root explorer

    I don't understand why there is so much hype around this program. No, it's all good - neat daddies, which we can change in the settings, there is also a choice of design (four styles), you can even turn on the display in the form of thumbnails, and choose the size of the files as a bonus prize.

    But it's all good. Navigation is the height of stupidity. So, each source is displayed in a new tab - added a cloud drive - new tab, one more - one more ... It's good when there are no clouds, and flash drives too. And if there is, then in order to scroll, for example, to box.net, you need to swipe 5-6 tabs. Not that difficult, but why?

    Labels, navigation bars, home pages were invented a long time ago. Yes, bookmarks. True, there are bookmarks, but only for objects in local storages.

    A very simple explorer with a minimum of settings.

  • inconvenient navigation through "sources".
  • And another member solid explorer.

    What I liked was the implementation of two-panel advantages: well, there were two panels in other conductors, but what are their pluses, in essence, if? And here, for example, you can simply drag a file from one panel to another, and in the menu, moving and copying occurs immediately to the next tab.

    The rest is a convenient, solid, ordinary file browser.

    The window is neat, in soothing colors. You can change the type of icons in the menu (by the way, all the buttons on the bottom panel are signed and we don't need to navigate by incomprehensible pictograms) - four types are available, of course, sorting is also available.

    Navigation is through the "Go" button - not an ideal implementation, but, no doubt, convenient. I didn’t like only access to the clouds - I need a couple of extra taps, but it’s not critical in principle.

    But the settings are implemented very clearly.

    In the "Appearance" we can change the theme, colors and turn on the English interface:

    The "Files" item also adjusts the appearance, but more specific parts of it: date and time format, thumbnail quality, a few others.

    The "Startup" tab will help us configure the "start" folders, and in the "Gestures" menu, although this menu should be called "like gestures", select the drag and drop file mode and enable pinch zoom.

    The remaining options do not need to be presented at all:

    By the way, the implementation of bookmarks is normal! Long tap, choose and that's it - here they are!

    And there is also a sidebar - it is pulled out with a swipe from the left edge, and is a synthesis of the navigation bar and the bookmarks menu. Comfortable.

    If you want to filter something, select the appropriate icon.

  • drag and drop files between panels.
  • File operations

    Now let's compare the convenience of working with files and folders, in fact, for the sake of which all these conductors were conceived.

    ES Explorer. Again there will be a lot of letters - it's not my fault that the developers shoved the unimpressible. To access operations, we need to select a file or folder. You can do this with a long tap.

    The most popular copy-paste-delete operations are located on the bottom panel, access to them is instant.

    I really like the implementation of copying - after selecting a function, the bottom panel will turn into an insert panel - go to the desired folder and paste, but this is not the main thing - try to pull out the tab with windows on the right - see? It has turned into a clipboard - so you can accumulate different files and paste the ones you need into the right folders.

    But the "More" button will open everything and a lot:

    So the file can be hidden. At the beginning of the review, we found a folder in the "Hidden" side menu, and in the settings there was a password protection item, so in order for the object to get there, we just need to select this item. But keep in mind, it is hidden only in this explorer - the rest of the file browsers will see all the hidden things as if nothing had happened.

    "Play" and "Add to playable" - add media files to the same media player (which is built-in).

    Interesting "Encrypt" option. So you can put any password on any file or folder, and even encrypt the name! And none third party program will not be able to open anything in any way, well, if not quite a hacker at the remote control - they are terrible people - the pentagons break, not like Ezet's cipher.

    Next to all this goodness is the "Open as" button - this is if the file extension is completely incomprehensible to the system - you can manually specify how exactly, try to open the file. The menu is very simple - we will see a much more "correct" implementation of it later.

    The built-in viewer understands all media files and text files. He will open them even without the appropriate extensions, only for this you need to explicitly specify the category.

  • convenient clipboard;
  • encryption;
  • drag and drop menu.
  • ASTRO File Manager. A long tap should become a habitual action. But the menu is truncated - copy and delete. There are a couple more options in the ellipsis and that's it.

    About nothing. Clipboard - no, network transfer - no - just basic copy-paste-rename. And also the confirmation of the insertion merges with the advertisement.

    Only open music and movie files in external applications. Text files Small size is risky. Do you think 1.32 MB is a lot? Not a little for a text writer, but he is far from "a lot" (the same ES did it in a second). Pictures - everything seems to be fine. Here. Weak - didn't like it.

    File Manager Cheetah Mobile

    The pictograms are signed - cannot but rejoice. Opportunities - all the same as those of ASTRO, i.е. basic. The developer also didn’t come up with the insert button very sensibly - it is located at the very top in the form of a small icon - I would not be against such a move on Sony Sola 3.7 inches, but, for example, on Login + from Megafon with its 5.5 inches - file insertion is accompanied by three interceptions of the phone and an attempt to put the thumb on the twine.

    In "More" you can find a very interesting item that we already know - "Open as ...". Unexpectedly and pleasantly, it compensates, apparently, for the absence of native listers.

    Total Commander. Are we betting?

    First of all, you can select a file or group by tapping on the icon, but call context menu- long tap.

    As in the case of ES, we can add media files to the player, send it somewhere and, of course, copy-paste. Copying is easy, but pasting is not so obvious anymore - you need to make a long tap at the top of the panel (where the house and the arrow are).

    But the main thing is that on your own panel you can create buttons with different actions, including with paste commands.

    Of the interesting functions, I note the possibility of copying the file name - it will suddenly come in handy.

    An amazing fact - the built-in viewer is not working at 90%, it gave out "not enough memory" for the text editor, I suggested opening the picture in a third-party application.

    But the video and audio opened, great! Even flac, only with a joke - it didn’t work out in any way from TC, but ES Explorer offered to open it in the Total lister, and everything was fine.

    It's hard for me to evaluate - it seems to be inferior to the same ES Explorer, but everything you need is there, while all your favorite commands can be hung on custom buttons.

  • custom buttons with "favorite" actions.
  • Xplore File Manager. There are only basic functions and one very interesting, but terribly useless feature.

    Basic: copy, delete and rename. You can call them with a long press, or you can pay attention to the button bar between the panels - everything is there.

    An interesting point is that copying occurs only to the directory of the adjacent panel, so first of all you need to select the target folder, and only then, copy the data from the adjacent tab.

    If you open the file properties, you can see the md5 and sha-1 checksums - the hashing algorithms are like this (I stood out so much with a buzzword, the meaning of which I myself do not fully understand) - in simple language and very, very exaggerated - this is a digital fingerprint of a file that used to check the integrity and identity (I will not use such constructions anymore, I promise). The average person doesn't indulge in such things.

    But these are flowers! I promised supermegafichu? Catch:

    Converting a file to a HEX code. Charm! I wake up every morning and launch a hex editor instead of cartoons.

    But the built-in lister showed its best side - everything that I fed him - everything was consumed without looking. And mp4, and flac, and all sorts of texts with pictures.

  • the presence of a HEX editor;
  • reverse copy logic.
  • root explorer. That's how unremarkable the interface and usability seemed to me, the same is true with operations.

    A clear copy dialog: select the icon, go to the desired folder and click "Copy here". The button, by the way, is at the bottom, where it is easy to get it on any screen.

    You can also rename or send, and the simple implementation of "Open with" is excellent - you can choose one of the built-in viewer tools, a system category, or any of the installed applications at all, and the lister works great with all sorts of texts and databases.

    And that's all - everything else he can't. Although, it can still disassemble apk, but do we need it?

    Next File Explorer

    The handy "Open with" menu is fully balanced by creepy copying. So, to select one file - you need a long tap, but to select several - swipe on each of them (or another way - the "select items" icon in the menu), the "copy" button is understandable, but then in upper corner the "Clipboard. 1 copied" icon appears. You can’t just insert it like that - you need to open this same clipboard. Along the way, take another look at our context menu:

    Yes, there are files, but you can only insert all at once. And only from this menu. Or delete from the buffer. Sad somehow.

    But the viewer is very good - all-format, all-music and all-text.

    There is nothing else, but there is a residue from the copying procedure - even an excellent lister could not smooth out this "copy-to-clipboard" horror.

    solid explorer

    Firstly - the already familiar dragging, secondly ... but there is nothing remarkable for "secondly". Convenient copying, but without notes, absolutely no "Open with" dialog - everything is beautiful, convenient, the absolute minimum. All these actions are logically located in "Actions".

    Lister is a total parody. Text files - up to 75 KB, photos - good, the rest - nothing.

    I pulled something...

    Very briefly on networks and root, and that's it!
