The state postal operator of Spain has the full name Sociedad Estatal Correos y Telegrafos, S.A., but abbreviated as simply correos, which translates from Spanish as "mail". The history of this organization dates back to the Middle Ages - at first letters were delivered by messengers, and then by mail coaches. Nowadays, the Post of Spain provides the population and organizations with services for sending physical and electronic correspondence.

Correos is part of Correos Group- a corporation wholly owned by the Spanish government. Other members of the Correos Group provide additional functions communications: Nexea handles large business mailing lists, ChronoExpres provides express delivery options, and Correos Telecom builds corporate telecom networks.

The Spanish postal system also includes the post office of the Principality of Andorra, a small state located between Spain and France. This is due to the fact that Andorra, unlike Spain, is not a member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

To send a parcel courier service You must inform any post office in Spain that you want to use EMS Postal Exprés. When filling out the address form, the country and city must be indicated on English language, but the exact address(when sending to Russia) it is better to write in Russian, this will minimize the possibility of an error during delivery by a courier in the addressee's city.

The size restrictions for EMS shipments are 200 cm in the sum of three dimensions - with the condition that each side is no more than 100 cm long.

Postal tracking

As in other countries that are members of the Universal Postal Union, in Spain only registered mail items are subject to tracking. They are assigned a unique track number, compiled in accordance with the S10 UPU standard. According to this standard, the number consists of 13 characters, where the first corresponds to the type of departure, and the second contributes to the uniqueness of the number. The next 9 digits are a numeric code, and the last two letters are an abbreviated name of the sender's country.

In particular, the first letter of the track number for small packages will be R, for parcels - C, for EMS shipments - E. Any letter of the Latin alphabet becomes the second character, the nine-digit numeric code can be arbitrary, and the final characters in the case of sending a parcel from Spain will be standard - ES. Information about the country of the recipient is not included in the track number.

To track a postal item with a track number, enter this number in the appropriate field on the tracking page of the Correos official website or simply use the field labeled CÓDIGO DE ENVÍO, which is available on any page of the site.

When the postal item has left Spain, tracking should be done on the website of the postal operator of the recipient's country. If you sent a parcel through the EMS service, then its status will also be displayed on the Correos website, but in a somewhat simplified form - only the most important stages.

Correos Post Tracking

Tracking international mail from Spain can be very difficult. useful tool to control the movement of parcels. Mail statuses will inform you at what stage the shipment is.

Conventionally, Correos international shipments go through the following main stages:

  • Reception of departure at the Correos branch;
  • Processing and distribution in the sorting center;
  • The parcel arrives at the place of international postal exchange, where it is being prepared for further movement;
  • Customs clearance in the country of the sender;
  • Export;
  • Import;
  • Customs clearance by the receiving postal service;
  • Parcel sorting by the receiving postal service;
  • Delivery of the parcel to the recipient.

Very often, buyers are asked to calculate the final cost of the parcel. Unfortunately, it is not possible to do this without knowing either the weight or the dimensions of the goods (parcel). On the Internet you can find the approximate weight of things.
You can track the shipment first on the Spanish Post website, and then on the Russian Post website.
