Russian Post - how to find out where the package is

One of the most trusted and simple methods find out where your package is through the Russian Post - this is tracking postal items by departure number.

To find out where a particular product is being shipped, recipients and senders need a consignment note number or a track number, in short TTN. Such data is received by the sender when processing documents at the branch. The declaration consists of 11 or 14 digits, which are shown in the left upper corner document. These numbers are entered in the column called "Tracking Number", and click "Track". And after 2 minutes, the exact location of the goods of interest is known.

It is impossible when the transfer is sent from branches. Such branches are located in small settlements and do not have their own base. it main reason the fact that the shipment will take place in 2-3 days, respectively, registration too.

Immediately after it enters the department that has its own base, it will be registered. Only after passing through this procedure is a special number assigned, and then it is allowed to find out the location.

Use our handy tool and track the location of the mail.

Tracking international shipments

International shipments are serviced by the Russian Post International group. A young service that tries to serve customers as comfortably as possible for each of them. When sending, the sender receives a tracking number. If it is available, they will find out where the cargo is at any stage of delivery. Abroad, delivery from this company is carried out by courier in the hands of the addressee.

Everyone can try to use the international service and feel that the world is, in fact, much closer.

What shipments can be tracked

Modern senders send everything, literally. It could be:

  • registered letter;
  • Appliances;
  • products;
  • furniture.

"Mail of Russia" can even send vehicles. But this is not the whole list of possible assortment. In addition, a person will have a declaration on hand, with the help of which it is not a problem to find out the exact location of the cargo. And you can do this without leaving your home, the main thing is the presence of a computer and access to the Internet.

How to track a parcel by the name of the recipient

You can receive and track only by TTN. We recommend checking with the sender. If this is not possible, and the express invoice number is lost, no need to worry! It is worth contacting the nearest department, where the TTN number will be quickly restored. To resume, the employee of the company will require a passport and a phone number.

How to track the movement of a parcel from abroad?

To track the movements of international mail (IGO), a postal monitoring system has been developed, the main tool of which is unique number tracking - tracking number. This number consists of numeric and alphabetic characters, and is also duplicated in the form of a barcode. Modern postal logistics terminals are equipped with barcode scanners, and when an MPO passes through such a terminal, these tracking numbers are read and sent to the servers of the international postal monitoring system.

Thanks to this system, it is very easy to find out the location of IGOs. This can be done on government websites. postal services or private logistics companies. In addition, there are convenient tracking services - trackers that combine tracking systems from many countries and private carriers.

What is a tracking number?

Tracking number is a tracking number provided by postal services to track the movement of your cargo. The tracking number is standardized by the Universal Postal Union and has a strict structure.

Standard international number tracking looks like XX123456789XX:

  • the first letters indicate the type of shipment, for example, CA-CZ - parcel with tracking, EA-EZ - express parcel sent by one of the international express delivery services, such as EMS, RA-RZ - small order package with tracking, LA-LZ - small package without tracking
  • then comes a unique eight-digit code, and the ninth digit is a test value calculated using a special algorithm,
  • the last Latin letters indicate the country from which the parcel was sent, for example, CN - China, US - USA, DE - Germany.

Official and complete information is available at the link ( PDF document, English language).

Use the form provided on the UPU website (Excel spreadsheet) to check if the tracking number complies with the standard.

The seller provided a tracking number, but there is no movement of the parcel.

  • Information may enter the mail monitoring system with delays. The normal situation is a delay of 3-5 days.
  • The seller provided a pre-reserved number, but the actual package has not yet been sent. Wait 3-5 days and clarify the situation with the seller.

I just paid for the order, and the seller has already given a tracking number. All this is suspicious.

There is nothing suspicious in this, because abroad there has long been a system for reserving postal items, which are redeemed in advance. The seller only needs to enter the addressee's data and print the finished form with a tracking number.

What information can I get from my tracking number?

The following information can be obtained from the tracking number:

  • method of sending MPO;
  • from where (export) and where (import) the IGO is moving;
  • find out the stages of the movement of IGOs - export, intermediate points of delivery, import, customs clearance, delivery to the addressee on the territory of the recipient's country;
  • mass of MPO (not always provided);
  • Name and the exact address recipient (usually this information is available on the official trackers of mail and courier services).

Judging by the track number, the parcel is sent to another country.

  • The seller mistakenly provided the track number of another package or mixed up the numbers. Please clarify this point.
  • An error has occurred in the mail monitoring system. The parcel will still be delivered to its index and address.
  • The seller deliberately provided a different track number, the parcel might not be sent at all, hoping for a lack of experience or inattention of the client. This is often the fault of Chinese sellers.

The IGO tracking number has a non-standard appearance. Why?

The standard tracking number of the form XX123456789XX is specific to national postal operators that are members of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). Getting a custom tracking number has several common causes:

  • the parcel was sent through large private delivery services - DHL Express, UPS, Fedex, SPSR, Meest, etc., which have their own internal standards for generating a tracking number. Usually this number has only a numeric format and is tracked on the websites of these services or on aggregator trackers;
  • the parcel was sent from China through local carriers.
  • the seller made a mistake when writing the tracking number. Here it is necessary to clarify with the seller the correctness of the provided number;
  • the seller provided a knowingly false tracking number in order to deceive the customer. This is typical for Chinese sellers from Aliexpress. In this situation, only a dispute will help.

I was sent an order through the national postal operator, but they did not provide an international tracking number. Why?

Not all mail items automatically receive an international tracking number. The fact is that all IGOs are divided into "small packages" and "parcels". A standard small package (package) is considered to be a shipment weighing less than 2 kg and a tracking number is not assigned to them. In some cases, it is possible, for an additional fee, to register such an IGO and receive a tracking number. IGOs weighing more than 2 kg fall into the category of parcels and they are assigned a tracking number, but even in this case it does not always have an international format. Parcels are divided into ordinary and priority (registered). The latter have an international tracking number.

Who should give me the tracking number?

In the case of purchases in foreign online stores and auctions, the tracking number is provided by the seller after payment for the order.

What determines the speed of MPO delivery?

There are a lot of conditions and factors here. The main ones include:

  • choice of delivery method - regular or priority (express) mail;
  • choice of delivery operator - the state postal service or a private express carrier. The speed of delivery by private courier services can be 3-5 times faster than using conventional postal services;
  • features of the work of postal operators in a particular country. For example, USPS US mail is much faster than Russian Post;
  • distance between sender and recipient;
  • from the time of year, weather conditions, cataclysms. For example, during the period of Christmas sales and New Year's hype, the flow of parcels increases dramatically and postal operators do not have time to process all the parcels on time. This leads to delays.

When exactly will I receive my package?

There is no exact answer to this question. In this case, it is much more accurate to operate with the concept of the expected delivery time. The website of each national postal operator has information on the average delivery time in one way or another to a particular country. Stores also provide this information when choosing a delivery method.

A clearer situation is with courier carriers - DHL Express, UPS, Fedex, SPSR, etc. In 80% of cases, delivery is carried out on the same day or in the next 3 days (if there are no problems at customs).

The delivery time for standard MGOs to Russia from the USA and European countries varies within the following time limits:

  • EMS departures - 7-14 days.
  • Registered parcels and parcels - 14-30 days (depending on the distance from the key centers of international mail exchange).
  • Simple packages and parcels - 18–40 days.
  • The average delivery time for parcels and parcels from China and Southeast Asia is about 21-40 days.

I was sent a parcel weighing 1 kg (for example), and according to the track number in Russia, the weight became 0 (or much less than 1 kg). What is it connected with?

This is a very common situation when, after being exported to Russia, the package “loses weight” right up to 0 grams. It's just that some sorters are too lazy to weigh each IGO and enter this data into the tracking system.

The second option is sadder. If, at some stage of delivery or customs clearance, the parcel has sharply lost weight, then this may indicate the theft of the investment. This is a direct reason to insist on opening the parcel at the post office upon receipt. A parcel with a difference in weight must have an appropriate certificate.

Parcel DHL Express, UPS, Fedex detained at Russian customs (sent to the store). For what reason?

The most common reason is exceeding the investment value limit for courier IGOs, which for Russians is 200 euros. You can read more about the features of the work of courier services in our articles:

Also, some courier services organize delivery only to large cities of the Russian Federation, and if you are a resident of a small city on the periphery and do not have the opportunity to come to the company's office, then the parcel will be sent back.

My parcel ended up in another country. What should I do?

There are two possible reasons for this:

  • The parcel is delivered in transit through third countries and the final destination has not changed. There is no need to worry, this is normal practice. Especially when delivered by courier services.
  • The seller mixed up the tracking numbers or incorrectly provided the delivery address. This happens extremely rarely and here you should solve the problem directly with the seller.

Delivery from China (Aliexpress and other stores) via Swiss Post and Sweden Post

Recently, many sellers on Aliexpress offer a choice of delivery through Swiss and Swedish postal operators. For many, this raises a logical question - what does China and Swiss Post have to do with it ?! The Chinese began to use the services of European carriers due to serious bans on China Post, Hong Kong Post and Singapore Post Li-ion batteries. What does the status “sent to airline” mean? How long will the parcel go after receiving the “sent to airline” status?

“Sent to airline” is the last status that a package can receive while in China. Once the package has received the status of “sent to airline”, it is no longer under the control of China Post. As a rule, the parcel arrives in the country of destination within 2-4 weeks from the date of receipt of the "sent to airline" status. Typically, the "sent to airline" status does not change until the package reaches its destination or is delivered to the recipient.

Be careful if more than 30 days have passed since receiving the “sent to airline” status, and you still have not received the package. Perhaps it was lost or its shipment was delayed in another country. In order for the seller or store to return your money, you need to file a claim.

What does the “Import Security Scan” status mean?

If your package received the status “Import Security Scan” (“Checking packages received from abroad”), there are three options:

  1. If the parcel was originally sent from outside of China, and the LOCATION column indicates a city in China, for example, Beijing, Shanghai, etc., this means that the parcel was delivered to China and will be delivered to the recipient after customs clearance. See the question How to get a refund for a lost package or a package that was delivered for a very long time.

What does the status “Import Customs Scan” mean?

  1. If the package was originally sent from China, and the LOCATION column shows a city in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, etc., it means that the package was sent back to China from abroad. As a rule, the package is sent back to the supplier, and the recipient will receive it later if the supplier pays an additional shipping fee and sends the package again.
  2. If the parcel was originally sent from China and the recipient's country is indicated in the LOCATION column, this means that the parcel was delivered to the customs of the country of destination and will be delivered to the recipient after customs clearance.

What does the status “In Customs-Control warehouse” mean? How long will it take?

The status “In Customs-Control warehouse” means that the package is in a customs warehouse awaiting inspection before export or airmail.

What should I do if the status of my package does not change from the status of “Export Security Scan”, “Export Customs Scan” for a long time?

What does the status “Success find: 0 items!” mean? or “China Post has not received the parcel”?

If you have tracked the parcel by tracking number and the parcel status is “China post has not received the parcel” or “Success find: 0 items!” ("Result - 0 packages"), this means that the seller (supplier) gave you a non-existent (invalid) tracking number that is not assigned to any shipped package in the China Post database.

There may be several reasons:

  1. The tracking number is wrong.
  2. Less than 48 hours have passed since the seller sent the goods, China Post has not yet updated the package information.
  3. The seller did not ship the items for some reason, such as "out of stock", but plans to ship at a later date.

To understand what the above three points are about, you need to know how the parcel tracking system by number works:
China Post can easily attach a label with a non-existent number to any package. The tracking number is invalid and the package cannot be tracked until China Post assigns it this number. Payment paypal system, ebay and Aliexpress sites sometimes receive non-existent tracking numbers from many scammers who send these numbers to fill in payment details. Many marketplaces such as ebay or Aliexpress require the seller to ship within 24 hours of payment, so some sellers may provide a non-existent tracking number to avoid penalties. Later, when the seller restocks the goods, he uses the same tracking number to send the goods, and by this number it will already be possible to track the parcel on the website within 48 hours after the actual date of dispatch.

What should I do if the status of my package is “Success find: 0 items!” or “China Post has not received the parcel”?

  • If you received the tracking number within 48 hours of shipping, you may need to wait two more days for the China Post database to update.
  • If you received a tracking number more than two days ago, you may need to contact the seller and check with him the actual date of dispatch and the actual parcel number. Tell the seller that you want to track the package by the number on the site site within 48 hours after sending, otherwise you will file a claim. As a rule, the seller gives a new tracking number, the actual date of shipment or the planned date of shipment, which can be checked later on the website.
  • If the seller again gives you incorrect shipping information or does not respond at all, you should file a claim with ebay, Aliexpress or Paypal and request a refund. You can also leave negative feedback about the scammer after the refund.

What does the status “Export Security Scan” mean? How long will it take?

What does the status “Export Customs Scan” mean? How long will it take?

“Export Customs Scan” means that the package is ready for customs inspection. As soon as the customs check is over, the package will be sent to the airmail.

What does the status “Arrival at inward office of exchange” mean?

“Arrival at inward office of exchange” means that the package has been delivered to the customs office of the country of destination. As soon as customs clearance of a parcel received from abroad is completed, the parcel will be delivered to the recipient by the postal service of the country of destination.

What does the status “Departure from outward office of exchange” mean? How much time will it take?

“Departure from outward office of exchange" means that the package is ready for customs inspection. Once the inspection is completed, the package will be sent to the airmail.

What do the statuses “NULL”,”PEK NULL”,”PVG NULL” ,”Opening” mean?

Some users, after searching on other sites, see that the sending status is “NULL” (“ZERO”),”PEK NULL” (“PEK NULL”),”PVG NULL”("PVG NULL") or “Opening" ("Opening" ) etc. In fact, these strange statuses are errors resulting from a mistranslation of the China Post database.

How to file a claim and demand a refund for an incorrect parcel number and a parcel that was not received?

Many recipients whose parcels are delivered by China Post often ask the following questions:

  1. The tracker site informs that the parcel was returned to the seller, but he does not confirm receipt of the return and refuses to return the money, how can I get the money back?
  2. The tracker shows that the parcel was returned to the supplier, or it gives the status "delivery failed". How do I get a refund from China Post?
  3. The parcel status has not changed for more than 40 days, I still have not received the parcel, can I contact the seller or China Post about a refund?
The answers to these questions are almost the same:
China Post does not work with the recipient directly. China Post only accepts inquiries and claims from a supplier who has an original shipping receipt.
So, it is better for the recipient to use the mechanisms provided by ebay, aliexpress, paypal and file a claim for non-receipt of the parcel as soon as possible.

Once you have filed a claim, the seller must confirm that the package was successfully delivered to the buyer. If he/she is unable to provide such confirmation, the money will automatically be returned to the buyer.

How to file such a claim for non-receipt of a parcel?
On ebay, paypal and aliexpress there is a link to a web page called "dispute resolution center" or "claim center". You can file a claim for non-receipt of the parcel there. All detailed guides you will find on the website:

Is there any period when you can file a claim for non-receipt of a package?
YES. On ebay and paypal, you need to file a claim within 45 days after payment. On aliexpress, this period is 60 days.

What if I missed the claim deadline but still want a refund?
If you miss the claim deadline, then the only thing you can do is contact the seller. Large sellers with a lot of positive reviews are more likely to offer an option that suits you in exchange for positive feedback. This will increase sales in their store.

What if I'm buying items from a site that doesn't have a "claims center" and I didn't pay with paypal?
Unfortunately, in this case, it will not be easy for you to get your money back, often impossible. Therefore, we advise you to buy goods from Chinese sellers at large trading floors such as ebay, Aliexpress, Amazon, DX, etc., with a high level of buyer protection.

If you buy goods on little-known sites, try to pay for purchases through Paypal. NEVER use bank transfers, money transfer systems such as Moneygram or Western Union, electronic currencies such as bitcoin to pay for goods, even if you make purchases on well-known sites - ebay or Aliexpress, but from unfamiliar sellers.

If the trouble did occur and you paid for the purchase with a payment card, you can contact the bank and use the refund procedure - chargeback. The procedure is described in the article:

Parcel status from China Airlines, place PEK. What's this?

PEK code assigned by international association air transport(IATA) international airport Shoudou (Beijing). This status means that the package has been sent from this airport to the country of destination.

The track number is an individual Postal code(identifier, number) of the postal item, thanks to it, you can control the movement of the parcel at any time. Tracking of postal items is a mechanism that allows you to find the parcel, and then track it. Should know important nuance- in order for your shipment to be tracked, the track number must be of international standard.

What does the track number look like?

The track number of the parcel, according to the international standard, is always presented as a combination of Latin numbers and letters. The international track number of the parcel includes a total of four uppercase Latin letters and nine digits, for example: RA125854782CN. Similar numbers are assigned to shipments following from abroad or abroad. This is how, for example, the track number of a parcel from China should look like.

You can find out where the track number of the parcel is different ways, it depends on who sent it to you. If this is a package with goods from an online store, such as Aliexpress, then the seller must indicate its track number in your order menu on the site after sending the package. If a parcel is sent to you by a specific person or you are sending it to someone abroad, then the tracking number will be indicated on the bill of lading (declaration, receipt) that the dispatch service will issue to you.

When your parcel has a track number, you can track its movement at any time. And in case of loss of the parcel or in the event of any unforeseen circumstances, you can talk with the seller about sending the goods again, or demand a full refund.

Parcels from China without tracking numbers

The Aliexpress website sells a lot of all kinds of necessary and interesting goods at a relatively low price that you want to buy. When purchasing a product, the buyer often finds himself in a situation where a package is sent to him without a track number. In this case, you just need to wait until the postman is in mailbox will bring a notice that the parcel has already arrived at the post office. All you have to do is go to the post office and receive your long-awaited order.

A parcel from Aliexpress without a track number is sent if the purchased product is very cheap, and it makes no sense for the seller to pay for a real tracked track number. It is more profitable for the seller to simply not spend extra money and send the package without a track number, and provide you with an empty (non-existent) track. This is often practiced when shopping on foreign sites. But it is worth considering that if such a package does not arrive, then you will never know for what reason - either the mail lost it on the way, or it was not even sent. This is the main risk that a parcel from China without a track number will not reach.

However, if the seller is conscientious, then he will definitely warn his buyer that he sent him a package without a tracking number. And in connection with such inconveniences, it can provide additional guarantees in case of loss of the parcel by postal services. But in this case, the buyer also needs to be vigilant and make sure that the buyer’s protection period has not expired, and you have time to open a dispute to return money for the lost product.

There are a lot of useful little things for sale on the Aliexpress website. Lots of things to buy. And the goods are relatively cheap.
When buying inexpensive goods, buyers are faced with a situation where the parcel is sent either without a track at all, or with courier service tracks that are not tracked in the recipient's country. And the buyer just has to wait for the postman to throw the coveted notice that the package is waiting for them in the mailbox.

And everything would be fine, but it happens that the notification does not come for any reason. And the package, although inexpensive, but long-awaited. And it will not be stored in the mail for a long time. Lie down for 30 days in the post office and go back. What then to do? You can open a dispute due to the fact that the package was sent back to China, return the money and order the goods again. But this will take a lot of time. And oh, how you want to get the treasured purchase early.

In such situations, experienced buyers are advised to visit the post office every 2 weeks with a smile, sweets and a passport. For the postal worker to look for a parcel in your name.

But unfortunately the candy trick doesn't always work. Postal workers report that without notification or without a normal track, they are not required to look for the package. This happens very often in post offices in Russia. And, to be more precise, you will be very lucky if the postal worker will begin to help you.

The question arises: Does the post office worker have to look for your parcel upon presentation of an identity card?

We can find the answer on the official website of the Russian Post:

“If you do not have a notification or a track number, upon presentation of an identity card, you can ask a Postal employee to find the item by name and address to which it was sent.” https://www.pochta.ru/support/post-rules/receiving-sending

As we can see, this text is placed in the section " Post services and rules." That is, according to the rules of the Russian Post, you can officially contact a postal employee with such a request.

Therefore, when a smile does not help, and the postal employee refused your request, you have to connect the “heavy artillery”, namely, show the employee this information from the official website of the Russian Post, as well as ask to write a written refusal. This trick usually helps, and the postal employee reluctantly searches for your parcel by passport and without a track number.

By the way, you can also find information on how to leave a complaint against an employee of the postal service on the Russian Post website https://www.pochta.ru/support/claims/leave-a-complaint

We wish you to come across only kind and helpful employees at the post office. Enjoy the shopping!

If you have any other secret ways to influence postal workers so that they look for parcels without a track number, then write about them in the comments!

This type of parcels differs from other international shipments in that these parcels are circulated according to a simplified system thanks to the cooperation of the Russian Post with the most popular online store of Russian citizens - Aliexpress. Thanks to this cooperation, the procedure for processing parcels with Aliexpress was simplified, making the shipment faster and cheaper. Such parcels have a tracking code like ZA000000000LV, ZA000000000HK.

ZJ..HK parcel tracking

Parcels with a track code starting with ZJ are parcels of purchases made by Russians from the Joom online store. Just like in the case of Aliexpress, Joom has entered into a partnership with the Russian Post, thereby reducing the cost of shipping parcels from Joom, as well as significantly speeding up the shipping process itself from registration to shipping time.

Joom parcels during tracking can have one of three statuses:

  • Package sent
  • Parcel arrived at the branch
  • Parcel received by addressee

Tracking parcels from China

Postal parcels from China may not have complete information about the location of the parcel, but the most important information you will have on hand. The main stages of tracking will be available to you, and this is the most important thing. Parcels from China pass through postal centers in Latvia and Hong Kong, because of this, the letters LV and HK are assigned at the end of the track code, and not CN.

What should I do if I can't track the parcel?

There may be several reasons why the track number may not be tracked. Most of these causes are easily resolved, and sometimes do not need a special solution. The main reasons why the parcel is not tracked by track number:

  1. Not enough time has passed since the parcel was sent and the number has not yet entered the database. Sometimes it happens that the track number is not tracked up to 10 days from the day the parcel was sent. The main thing here is to be patient and wait until the package starts to be traced in the system.
  2. Tracking number is incorrect. In this case, you need to check the track number again with the seller or sender. Also check the spelling of the number. Perhaps you made a mistake when copying or when dialing a number on the keyboard.

In any case, you should not worry, although the reasons why the track code is not tracked are not limited to those listed, there is always a solution. As a rule, all parcels reach the addressee, and in extreme cases, you can always open a dispute in the online store and you will be refunded the money spent.
