Hello! Most recently, we set our own ringtone on the iPhone and, despite all the difficulties, we still managed to do it. But after all, the tastes of a person are constantly changing - for example, I'm already tired of the song that I just recently set to ring. I want, you know, something new!

Well, creating something new is not a problem (), but what about the old ringtone that is no longer needed? There are not so many options - keep or delete. If left, it will take up precious internal memory. Therefore, we will delete. And here again, Apple is not the way it should be for people.

Why? Because it's not serious at all...

You can't just take and delete a ringtone from your iPhone. Well, there is no such option in iPhone settings!

And how then to be? Now I will tell and show everything. Go!

We will consider only the official method (without jailbreaks and other nonsense). After all, the jailbreak is practically "dead", and this method deleting ringtones will live forever :)

As usual, in order for the information to be as truthful and verified as possible, personal experience, I will do all the manipulations with you.

So, I have two "extra" ringtones in my iPhone:

  1. Made and uploaded by myself via iTunes.
  2. Purchased from the official store iTunes Store. The price, by the way, is 22 rubles! But for Kipelov, even "fifty dollars" is not a pity :)

Task: remove these ringtones.

Now let's just go!

Step 1 (connect iPhone to iTunes). There should be no problems here - we take the wire (preferably the original one), connect the iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes.

Step 2 (very important point!). After launching iTunes, click on the phone icon in the upper left corner.

And then, at the very bottom, check the box next to the item "Process music and videos manually" and click "Apply".

Step 3 (Open Sound Control). We don’t go anywhere and look to the left sidebar- we are interested in the line "Sounds". We select it - a list of all ringtones that have been downloaded to your iPhone appears on the right.

Step 4 (remove ringtones). Click on any of these ringtones right click mouse, select "Remove from library" and click "Synchronize".

All! We take the iPhone in hand, open "Settings - Sounds, tactile signals - Ringtone" and we see that this sound is no more. Hooray! Although…

Some problems can always arise - where without them? :) And here's what you can do if the above instructions do not help:

  • Try installing a different build of iTunes. The fact is that latest versions programs (12.7 and "older") are "stripped down" - Apple removed a lot of features from them. Therefore, and already with its help we are trying to remove the ringtone.
  • Try to erase the sound using the same program through which it was originally downloaded to the iPhone. Because if the ringtone was set using third party program(for example, iFunBox), then iTunes may not be able to remove such ringtones.

Still nothing works? Well, you can always ask a question in the comments (preferably, describing your situation in more or less detail) - let's try to deal with the problem all together!

  1. To get started, go to the menu, look for a section with standard melodies and sound signals there, and then try to delete them in the usual way. Unfortunately, not all models of mobile devices allow you to do this.
  2. If it is impossible to delete the standard melody on our device in the usual way, proceed to the next steps.
  3. We are looking for USB drivers in the delivery package for the phone and install them on the computer. There may also be programs for synchronization; also install them.
  4. If the installation disk and data-cable are not available, we purchase them separately and perform the indicated actions.

But what if all the described methods turned out to be useless? As a last resort, you can try to re-flash your mobile device.

Phone firmware

  • Obviously, it is best to entrust this operation to professionals and contact a service center.
  • However, subject to certain skills, it is quite possible to do this on your own - however, there will still be a risk of causing irreparable damage to your mobile device.
  • Today on the net you can find any firmware we need without standard pictures, melodies and game applications. At the same time, we check its compliance with our phone model.
  • For firmware use special software. If, nevertheless, even the slightest doubt in one's own abilities remains, it is better not to take risks and do as described above - contact a specialist who will perform the necessary manipulations for a very reasonable amount.

Android is so highly customizable operating system that you can even change the standard sounds in it to any other. Sounds can be cut or recorded by yourself or downloaded somewhere. The procedure for replacing sounds is quite simple, but you will need a rooted smartphone or tablet with custom recovery.

You can download libraries with sounds, for example, on the page d-h.st/users/justen7723 . There are cuts of sound effects from popular films, games and standard sounds from some smartphone models (LG G2, HTC One and Oppo N1).

1. Download any set of sounds and copy the zip file without unpacking to the device's memory. Remember where this file is located.

2. Install root explorer or another file manager with access to system directories, launch it, go to the system/media/audio/ui folder and copy its contents to a safe place. It stores the system sounds of your device. Suddenly you want to restore them.

3. Turn off your smartphone or tablet and start it in recovery mode. Among the proposed options, choose to install a zip file from a memory card or from internal memory devices (depending on where the library with new sounds is copied).

4. Find the zip file you downloaded earlier, flash it and restart your device.

Everything, now new sounds should sound. If you don't like them, you can install another sound library or restore the old audio files. To restore, use file manager: go to the system/media/audio/ui folder and copy the previously saved files into it. After copying is complete, make sure that the permissions on the sounds folder are rw-r--r--. This is necessary so that some application does not accidentally delete these files.
