Quite often, when working at a computer, the user may notice that the system starts to slow down. The reason for this is the RAM, or rather the fact that it is heavily loaded open programs and tabs in the browser. When the memory becomes very small, the computer simply freezes, and when you open a window of some program, it may be written "Not responding".

Removing utilities from startup

Increase space in random access memory help and removal unnecessary programs from autoload. All of them are launched together with the start operating system without your participation and immediately take away part of the OP. Often this list includes antivirus programs, cloud storage, browsers, mail services. Moreover, leaving only the necessary there will increase the speed Windows boot. And the programs that you use once a week, or even less often, can always be launched manually, by the usual click on the shortcut.

So, to open the desired list, click on Start right click mouse and select from the list - this is for Windows 10. Owners of the seven can find this item simply by clicking on Start. If it's not there, use the combination Win + R.

In the Dispatcher, go to the section. It will display the entire list of programs that are included in it. Highlight those that you rarely use, and click at the bottom "Disable". If everything is done correctly in the column "Status" will appear the inscription: "Disabled".

After that, close everything running applications and restart your computer. All - utilities removed from autorun will not be loaded, and will not consume RAM.

For those with Windows 7, in the window "System configuration" after opening desired tab a list of items that are included in autoload will immediately appear. If you do not want the program to start every time with the system, uncheck the box next to it. When you leave the birds only in the required fields, click "Apply" - "OK". It remains only to restart the computer.

Restart Explorer

Slightly free up the operational Windows memory Restarting Explorer will also help. To do this, reopen "Task Manager" by clicking on the bar below and selecting the desired item from the list.

Further on the tab "Processes" find "Explorer", select this field and press "Restart". The screenshot shows that it takes up 13.7 MB of memory. Then the screen will turn black for a second and all the icons from the Taskbar will disappear, but after a while everything will reappear in the form you are used to.

Well, now our Explorer takes up a little less memory - only 9.6 MB.

For owners of the seven, the algorithm of actions will be slightly different. Open the Manager window and go to the tab "Processes". Here in the list you need to find explorer.exe . Highlight given line and press "End Process" bottom right.

The next step is a restart. In the open window, click the tab "File" - "New Task".

This method helps to free up memory for a while, because with each new open Explorer window, it will decrease again.

With the help of programs

There are also special programs to clear the RAM. Many of them have very simple interface in Russian, and will be understandable even to an inexperienced user.

The main window of the utility looks like this. It displays the data of the physical, virtual memory and system cache. The "Clear" button will help us perform the action we need.

The program is also quite popular. With its help, you can not only "Clear RAM", but also perform "Optimization", which will free up more space.

Another utility. It displays memory data in digital and graphical form, and the "Optimize" button will free up RAM.

Create a cleanup file

If you want to feel like a cool computer scientist and have no desire to install third-party utilities, you can create your own script, using which you can clean up the RAM.

First, open Notepad. Click "Start" - "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "Notepad".

Then paste the following text into it:

MsgBox "Are you really going to clean up RAM?",0,"Clearing RAM"
FreeMem=Space(204800000)
Msgbox "RAM cleaning process completed successfully!",0,"RAM cleaning"

In the FreeMem line, you need to specify the amount of RAM that is installed on your computer. The value is calculated like this:

Memory size in gigabytes*1024*100000

For example, for 2 GB we write 204800000, 3 GB - 307200000, 4 GB - 409600000.

If you do not know how much RAM is installed on the computer, then you can see this value. In the top ten, right-click on Start and select "System".

In Windows 7, click the Start button and then .

In the window that opens, all information about the system will be displayed. See what is written in the field "Installed Memory"- this is the value we need. Type the value into the text in Notepad.

Click on the "File" tab and select "Save As".

Select a location on the computer, in the example it is the desktop. You can write anything in the "File name" field, most importantly, add the .vbs extension at the end. In the "File type" field, select "All files" from the drop-down list. Then press the button "Save".

To clear the memory, simply double-click on the created file. Then click "OK" in the window that opens.

The RAM space will be freed up successfully.

We remove viruses

Malicious programs, or simply viruses, also take up space in RAM. Most often they are added to the startup list. Therefore, it makes sense to check your computer for viruses with an installed antivirus program and remove all malicious files found.

Freeing up hard drive space

The lack of free space on the hard drive also affects the RAM. The fact is that all unused applications from RAM are loaded into the swap file. And if there is not enough free space on the partition of the disk where the paging file is stored, then this method will work inefficiently. So it is very important to free up space on the disk partitions that you have on your computer by deleting everything junk files, programs, photo, music.

Since the swap file is stored by default on system drive, and it is most often called C:, you can read the article: how to free up space on the C drive:

This problem is especially relevant for budget phones, which are equipped with only a few gigabytes of internal memory.

If you also encountered a similar problem, then this material should help you. Here we will talk about how to clear the phone's memory on Android.

How to clear the internal memory on the phone through the Application Manager

The easiest way to clean internal memory Android phone is to move installed applications from internal memory to a memory card. This procedure can be performed on any Android device with a memory card and Android version 2.2 and higher.

In order to move applications to a memory card, you need to open the Android settings and go to the "Application Manager" (or simply "Applications") section.

In the Application Manager section, you will see a list of all installed applications. Under the name of the application, its size will be indicated. Therefore, it will not be difficult for you to find the applications that take up the most space on your phone's memory.

In order to transfer an application from the internal memory to the card, open its page in the "Application Manager" and click on the "To the memory card" button.

After that, Android will transfer the application to the memory card and free up space that the application used to occupy. It should be noted that some applications cannot be transferred to a memory card. For such applications, the transfer button will be inactive.

Also, through the "Application Manager" you can delete unnecessary applications. To do this, open the application page in the "Application Manager" and click on the "Delete" button.

How to clear the internal memory of an Android phone using the CCleaner app

Another simple and effective method cleaning memory on an Android phone is cleaning using an application. As you know, CCleaner is a program for Windows that cleans the registry, cached data, and other desired files in the operating system. But, recently, the CCleaner application for Android has also appeared. This application analyzes the internal memory of the device and deletes unnecessary files.

So, in order to clear the phone's memory using CCleaner, you need to run this application and click on the "Analyze" button.

After the analysis of the internal memory is completed, the CCleaner application will display a list of what can be removed in order to clear the internal memory of the device. At this stage, you need to check the boxes next to the data you allow the deletion of, and click on the "Clear" button.

After that, CCleaner will delete the data you have selected and will display information about how much memory was cleared in this way. In my case, more than 200 megabytes of memory were cleared.

How to clear memory on SD card using SD maid app

If you have run out free place on the SD memory card, you can use the application to clear the memory. This application is very similar to CCleaner. But, unlike CCleaner, the SD maid app cleans the memory card, not the internal memory of the device.

In order to clear the memory on the memory card, launch the SD maid application and click on the "Update" button in the "Junk" section.

After that, SD maid will analyze the files on the memory card and give information about the number of junk files and the amount they occupy. In order to delete these files, you need to click on the "Clean" button

In my case, using the SD maid app, I was able to clear almost 900 megabytes of memory.

Often faced with the problem of memory overflow. Probably, there is no universal recipe for solving this trouble, although you can look for some practical advice, however, they are not systematized. Let's try to understand this issue and find out how to free up internal memory on Android.

Varieties of storage devices

So, first you need to understand what are in devices with the Android operating system. You need to know this in order to better understand the essence of the problem and what to do with it.

RAM, RandomAccessMemory or RAM

This is the so-called working memory. It is here that the operating system and the Android system software record all the necessary data for the smooth operation of the application, by the way, they are calculated quite quickly. It should be borne in mind that when the device is turned off or rebooted, the RAM is quickly cleared, the RAM necessarily requires constant power.

And, accordingly, the more memory, the more services and applications can be simultaneously run on the device. The amount of memory also determines which resource-intensive applications you can run on your phone. When all the amount of RAM is exhausted and there is not enough space for the new application you are trying to launch, the “Phone memory is full” error can occur. In principle, technology does not stand still, and already with android versions 2.2 and higher, the operating system itself determines what needs to be removed from memory, which applications can be closed in order to free up space. Today, many flagship devices have sufficient memory of 1 GB. There are even 2 gigabytes. Therefore, the question of how to free up internal memory on "Android 4.1.2" is less common than in relation to earlier versions. If we consider more on Android, tablets and smartphones, then they basically have 512 MB or a little more than 768 MB (rather non-standard size).

In fact, progress does not stand still, everything is improving, because just a couple of years ago, most devices on android operational the memory was only 256 megabytes and the instruction on how to free up internal memory on "Android 2" was quite in demand.

ROM, ReadOnlyMemory or ROM

It is read-only. What is stored in it does not change and is recorded at the factory or when the operating system is reinstalled, when flashing. The ROM is divided into sections to perform various internal functions.

Interal Storage (Interal Phone Storage)

The internal storage itself. It is here that all data and applications that the user of a smartphone and tablet computer enters are stored. An internal drive is an analogue of a hard drive in a personal computer. Of course, when we write various applications to the device, the memory decreases, and it is not difficult to increase it - just delete the unnecessary. You can find out how much built-in storage and free space you have by seeing them in the device settings. Thus, often the answer to the question of how to free up the internal memory of Android is to clear the internal drive.

or ExternalStorage

This is the so-called removable memory. The size of the memory card depends on the card you choose, however, you need to consider whether your device has the necessary spot and whether the device supports it. ExternalStorage can be compared to external hard drive for personal computer. And the amount of free space and occupied can also be seen in the settings of your gadget. It is good to store multimedia data on such a card: music, movies, photos, pictures. By the way, already with Android 2.2 and higher, you can transfer all applications installed by the user to a memory card, this significantly saves space on the internal drive. If you decide to replace the memory card, then do not forget to unmount it first, and only then remove it.

Smartphones "Android": how to free up internal memory?

Many users, after they are more or less accustomed to their gadget, begin to install, stuff their device with various applications, scripts, and modify programs in every possible way. And someday, the message “Phone memory is full” will still appear, especially if the model is not the most expensive, and there is not much internal memory in it. Part of the problem lies in the RAM. It is very easy to clean it - through the device settings or download an additional utility. So, when the internal memory of the gadget is full, a message will appear stating that there is not enough memory. In principle, you can constantly clear the internal drive, delete applications that you no longer use, but the time will come when this message will appear more and more often. They take up quite a lot of space various updates that come for GooglePlay. By the way, you can transfer some programs to a memory card using a special Link2SD program. Access to InternalStorage is obtained by having Root rights. These actions are also good at clearing memory. You also need to clean up the so-called they have the .rm extension, are stored in the datalocalmp folder and constantly accumulate. For this action, you also need to have Root access and resort to Help Root Explorer, plus files with the log extension often accumulate in the same folder and contain error in their name - these are application errors, they also take up a lot of space. All these unnecessary files must be deleted.

What are the best measures to take?

But this is all a temporary cleaning of the device. What is a more thorough way to free up internal memory on Android? When installed on Tablet PC or a smartphone with an Android device, each program creates a file with the .dex extension in the datadalvik-cache directory. True, it happens that some system applications do not have such files.

It may seem strange that this program does not take up space. However, the reason is that along with these files in the phone's memory there are files of the same name, but with the .odex extension. In principle, such files can be created, then it is not required to leave .dex files. To do this, you can install additional application, for example, Lucky Patcher.

Now let's proceed directly to the steps that help answer the question of how to free up internal memory on Android 2.3.6 and newer versions.

We look at how much space the application takes up - the "Properties" menu.

For example, this is 1.68 MB, and, accordingly, the dex-file takes up the same amount of memory, and the odex-file that we created will "weigh" the same amount. Now you need to launch the LuckyPatcher application, select from the list desired application. We clamp (hold, not just click). It turns out You need to select the first or second item. The program itself will create the necessary odex files for us. Then we delete dex from the datadalvik-cache folder. Now the application works fine and takes 0 MB. So you can free up memory for all system applications. Thus, an instruction is executed on how to free up internal memory on Android 4.0 and other distributions.

A slightly different method is suitable for cleaning user applications. We chose the application, went to its folder on the memory card, we see the free space of this application. For example, there are 1.56 MB of free space left, and the dex file is 1.68 MB. You can, in principle, move the desired application to the system directory and do the same as mentioned above, or simply select another application, and leave it as it is. By the way, if you still move this application to user memory and create an odex file, and then delete the dex file, then the application will work fine. But if you transfer it to a flash drive, then the odex file will be deleted, and the program will not work, then you will either have to install it again or do a complete cleanup of dalvik-cache. Please note that in general, not every program will work without dex-files. This is typical for games or applications with dex up to 1.5 megabytes. Such the way is fine only those applications that have dex-files less than the available memory space. As you can see, the steps to help answer the question of how to free up internal memory on Android are not particularly difficult.

The problem with memory overflow, which can be found out by the message issued by the Android operating system "Memory is full", is quite common. Moreover, there are no universal solutions for it, but there are many tips. In this material, we will try to systematize all or at least most of the available information on this issue.

Types of memory in Android devices

RAM, Random Access Memory or RAM - random access memory or random access memory. Software(including operating system and installed applications) writes to given memory the data they need in the course of their work and can quickly read them. RAM requires constant power - when you turn off or reboot the device, it is completely cleared. The more RAM, the more various processes and services can be started at the same time. The “Phone memory is full” error can occur if the entire amount of RAM is completely exhausted, and there is not enough free space for the application to be launched.

ROM, Read Only Memory or ROM - read-only memory. The information stored in it cannot be changed and is recorded during the manufacture of the phone, or when the operating system is reinstalled - that is, during the flashing process. ROM is often divided into several sections to perform internal functions.

Interal Storage (Interal Phone Storage) - internal storage of a smartphone (or other device). This section memory is designed to store user data, installed applications and so on. This is something like an analogue of a hard drive in a personal computer. Naturally, in the process of writing data to the internal memory of an Android device, there is less free space here. The total amount of storage and the amount of free space can be viewed in the device settings.

External Storage - or, in fact, a microSD / microSDHC memory card. This type The user can expand the memory at will, unless, of course, the device supports memory cards, and there is an appropriate slot for this. Is something like an external hard drive for a personal computer. The total and occupied volumes of this type of memory, as well as free space on the card, can be checked in the settings of the Android gadget. The memory card can store multimedia data such as music, movies, pictures. Starting with Android 2.2, it became possible to transfer installed applications to a memory card, if the application itself supports it, thus saving space on the internal drive. Before replacing a memory card, it is strongly recommended to first unmount it, and not just remove it from the device.

Why does memory run out

Usually, after some time of relatively "quiet" use of the device on Android, users begin a period when they want to programmatically modify this device in every possible way. The endless installation of applications, scripts, and so on begins. And sooner or later, the message “Phone memory is full” appears, especially if the model is not one of the “top-end” ones, and this very memory is not so much. It is logical to assume that the problem is in the RAM - yes, this is partly true. But it is much easier to clean it up, it can be done both through the settings and using various downloadable utilities. So, the message about the lack of memory in the device appears when the internal drive is full. Of course, you can constantly clean this very drive, delete unnecessary applications, and so on, but over time it will be seen that the notorious “Phone memory is full” will appear more and more often. What is it connected with?

  • operating room android system installs apps on internal memory by default;
  • not every application is available for transfer to a memory card;
  • "sewn" into your device is vital important programs like Google Maps and Google Play are periodically updated, occupying additional cells of the internal memory;
  • some manufacturers throw pre-installed games and other software, which is called bloatware, into the smartphone or tablet you bought to the heap.

Free space check

Through the dispatcher

Button - dispatcher call

AT Samsung devices press and hold the home button for about a second, then go to the memory icon.

The data here is displayed in the Busy/Total format, so you will need to remember a little arithmetic lessons.

Through settings

Everything is simpler here: Settings> Options> Memory . And you don't have to count.

How to clean - overview of options

Operational measures

For a quick, although not very long, solution to the situation, cleaning up temporary files will help. They have the .rm extension and are stored in the folder data local mp. You can delete temporary files with Root access, for example, using Root Explorer.

Also, in the above folder data you can find many files that have the .log extension and contain "error" in the name - these are error log files various applications which take up quite a lot of space. We delete them and forget about “Phone memory is full” for a while.

Removing dex files

And now let's look at a more thorough way to clean up space on the internal drive. Each program on a smartphone or tablet, or any other Android device, when installed, creates a file with the extension .dex in the directory datadalvik-cache. But sometimes, on some system applications, these files are missing, and the following picture is visible:

Indeed, it is strange that the program takes 0 bytes. As it turns out, the reason lies in the fact that along with these files, the firmware contains files of the same name, but with the .odex extension. These files can be created, and then you don't need to leave .dex files. For example, LuckyPatcher can "dress" applications. So, first we look in the properties of the application, how much space it takes:

In this case, it's 1.68 MB, so the corresponding .dex file in datadalvik-cache takes up the same amount of space, and the created .odex file will weigh the same. We launch the mentioned LuckyPatcher, select the desired application in the list, hold down on it (not just “tap” once, but hold down), we see the context menu:

We select the first or second item, and it does not matter that the application may not need to remove the license check or remove ads at all. After that, the program will create the .odex files we need. Now you can remove the .dex files from datadalvik-cache. And now we see that the application already takes 0 bytes, but it works fine. This method suitable for system applications.

For custom applications, things are a little different. We select the application we need and go to its folder on the memory card, look at the free memory this application. On the this example 1.56 MB is reserved for the program folder, while the .dex file is 1.68 MB.

There are several ways to solve this problem: either move the selected application to the system directory and carry out the manipulations described above, or forget about this venture specifically with this application and take up some other program. By the way, if you move the application to user memory, and then create .odex, you can delete .dex, and the program will work fine. But when you move it to a flash drive, the .odex file will be deleted, and the application will refuse to work. In this case, there will be only two ways out: reinstall the program again or do complete cleaning dalvik-cache. So not every application can work without .dex - the method will only work with applications that have more free memory than .dex.

hard reboot

You can solve the problem radically by using hard reset– hard reset of the communicator. The step is not bad, returning the device to its original, factory settings. The speed of work increases, the smartphone instantly responds to all inputs and literally starts to “fly”. But, on the other hand, such an action can cause inconvenience for the user, because it is the deletion of data, files, applications that he will be forced to install again.

An effective but harsh way to solve a problem

Removing unnecessary applications, their updates and cache

To get rid of unused applications, go to Settings > Options > Application Manager.

Find in the menu "Application Manager" is not so difficult

Once in the "Downloaded" tab, call up the menu and sort the files by size. Next, select the applications you abandoned and click "Delete".

You can remove updates only for those applications that you installed yourself - with the built-in ones, such a trick will not work.

Select the application, click on "Uninstall updates", and after that - on "Disable".

If you have root, then you can even get rid of the system software. But be careful - one awkward movement, and the smartphone will fall into a dead sleep.

To clear the application cache, go to: Settings> Options> Memory.

Wait a few seconds until the amount of occupied space is determined, then select the "Cached data" item and tap "OK".

Using the CCleaner utility

CCleaner is perhaps the best of the utilities

Not to say that this method is super-efficient, given that some utilities themselves take up a lot of space, and even show ads. Therefore, if you decide to resort to it, then choose a proven CCleaner.

After the utility has done its job, you can safely delete it - until the next need.

Video: How to free up memory on Android

“Phone memory is full” is by far one of the most annoying and annoying inscriptions for Android device owners. We hope that thanks to our advice, she will not bother you for a long time.
