Hi all. Today we are talking about the UltraISO program, I will tell you what kind of program it is, and then I will put it on my computer and look at it together. So guys, UltraISO is a program for working with disk images. That is, you can download a disk image from the Internet and burn it to a real disk, or vice versa, make an image from a real disk. All popular formats are supported, although this may not be said, because the UltraISO program is not just very popular =)

UltraISO can also emulate a virtual CD / DVD drive so that you can insert a disk image there (usually it comes in ISO format).

Once again, did you understand correctly? Let's talk again. There is a disc, right? Well normal disk with programs or with a game, or even a DVD. And for example, you want to give it to a friend via the Internet. How to do it? You can use UltraISO to make an image of it, this will eventually be a file-copy of the disk. This file is a disk image, you can send it to a friend, but he can already open it there in the UltraISO program, well, or in any other that works with disk images. For example, it can be Virtual CD, Alcohol 120% or DAEMON Tools. And yet, these disk images can also be downloaded on the Internet, and in order to work with them, it is better to use UltraISO. Although it seems that Windows 10 already has a built-in ability to open disk images, well, it seems to be ...

So, I downloaded the UltraISO installer, I have it called uiso9_pe.exe, I run it in general:

This window popped up, clicked the Run button here:

I accept the license agreement and click Next:

Then I see that the program will be installed in this folder (you can change the folder with the Browse button):

C:\Program Files (x86)\UltraISO

A window popped up and I realized that the UltraISO program is not free, see:

There was nothing left but to click on the Trial period button =) So guys, the UltraISO program itself opened up before us:

So guys, how to use UltraISO? I will say right away, if it seems to you that this is a complex program, then you are mistaken. It only seems to you guys! I really don’t really rummage in the program myself, but still .. The first thing you need to do is let the program know what exactly you want to record. That is, specify the files, for example, I want to add the AMD folder from drive C, see what I'm doing:

You can also simply drag and drop files from some folder with the mouse here:

And when there are already files in the program, you will see what exactly will be recorded, what is its size and all that. Well, for example, I added the My Documents folder to the program:

That is, this is a future disc, so to speak, or what will be recorded on a USB flash drive, it does not matter. In the right upper corner will show the current size of the content:

Now look, there are files, right? Now open the Boot menu and select Burn Hard Disk Image:

And then you should have a flash drive selected there, you may need to select a recording method, in general there will be such a Write Disk Image window:

Everything is empty here because the flash drive is not connected. I showed you this about writing data to a USB flash drive. Well, if you need to burn the image to disk, then go to the Tools menu and select the Burn CD image item:

Well, then there will also be a window where the drive will be selected, the recording speed (by the way, it’s better not to set it to the maximum):

The image file, I don’t quite understand why, maybe it’s an option to immediately specify the image here and burn it to disk. But I think that if you do not touch this option, then what you have chosen in UltraISO will be recorded =)

Also I didn't say that it is possible to click this button:

And select the disk image file, so I pressed the button and the file selection dialog was displayed:

See what you can choose? Here they hint that you can select a disk image file, and then its contents will appear in UltraISO and you will have to make a couple of clicks to burn it all to a disk or a USB flash drive. Here I even found a picture, it was chosen here installation image Windows and this is how files are displayed in UltraISO:

Well, did you roughly understand what kind of UltraISO program ?.

But there is something more important that I didn’t write. I described roughly how to use UltraISO, but this is only approximately. If you need to write a Windows image to a USB flash drive, then it’s better to look for instructions on the Internet, there are just some little things there, I don’t remember which ones ..

True, there is an interesting point that not everyone knows about .. Guys, if you need to burn a Windows 7 or Windows 10 disk image to a USB flash drive, then you know what I'm doing? I just stupidly copy all the files from the image to a USB flash drive, I don’t even need to use UltraISO, I just threw the files and that’s it! No downloaders needed! And then in the BIOS I choose to boot from a USB flash drive and everything is normal, the installation is in progress. But with Windows XP, such a trick will not work ...

What else to tell you? Perhaps one thing remains, this is to show how to remove UltraISO, what if you don’t like it or something else ... So, look, hold down the Win + R buttons, then insert the following command:

We find UltraISO in the list, click right click and click Remove:

The uninstall will start:

It will take one or two seconds, after which such a message will pop up, which means that everything went fine:

Guys, that's all, it's time to finish .. I tried to tell you in simple terms what UltraISO is, I hope I succeeded. For some mistakes, I apologize. Good luck, take care of yourself and be happy!

UltraISO is a program for Windows whose main task is to create, edit and convert various file images. It is also possible to emulate and burn discs. The application itself requires activation, but you can take trial period. Free version quite enough to work with small files.

Main functions of the program

UltraISO is a multifunctional service, which is not always possible to figure out on your own. The main features of the program and approximate instructions for their use will be presented below.

Create a bootable flash drive or disk

This feature is most commonly used for reinstalling Windows. For its proper use, below is a plan of action.

Writing data to disk

The function is used to write files to blank disk. To do everything right, follow the following algorithm:

Creating a disk image from optical media

The function is used to convert an existing disc with content into an image. Instructions are provided below.

Creating a disk image from files

The function required to create an image from a set of files and folders. You can see the sequence of actions below.

These were the main features UltraISO programs. Deeper options require additional knowledge. At the first stage, try to master these features. Good luck.

Why do you need bootable flash drive?

When we turn on the computer, the software is loaded first, which is responsible for the internal, as the people say "iron". That is, the initialization motherboard, processor, RAM, video card and so on. it software called.

This process usually takes a matter of seconds. After that, there is an appeal to the storage medium (sit / DVD disc, floppy disk, hard drive, flash memory, network drive) and search for information about MBR (master boot records) - special code, which is responsible for loading the operating system. Next comes the loading of the operating system (windows / linux, dos). At this stage, we may need a bootable USB flash drive.

For example, to install an operating system, or download a portable independent (live) operating system.
Remember that the flash drive must be bootable, it must contain the correct MBR, if ISO image, which we want to burn does not contain the correct MBR, then the flash drive WILL NOT be bootable.

Those. it’s not enough just to write the image of the operating system to a USB flash drive (it will not become bootable from this), but you need to “plug” the main one there in a special way boot record(MBR).
Therefore, now you will learn one of the options for how to make such a bootable USB flash drive with using UltraISO portable.
The example will use the operating Windows system 7, 4 GB USB flash drive, UltraISO 9.6.0 Portable, OS boot image ISO file.

Now, where and what do we take.

  1. Windows 7 itself (yes, at least the tenth) is bought (very rarely), mostly downloaded from. such images of the system are usually so well “split” there that the “small-soft” ones themselves recognize it as their own. (The first time the system starts, it connects to microsoft and authenticates with Windows.)
  2. A flash drive is the main requirement for its volume to contain a Windows image.
  3. Download the UltraISO program itself. The program is in English, and even with a key, so you have to download from file hosting, but with a key and Russian. Choose.

Unpack the archived file and run the file UltraISO_Portable_unpack.exe

Determine the location where the files will be extracted and click the Extract button. In this package we find the UltraISOPortable.exe file and run it.

After the utility is installed, look through the program menu for the ISO image you need (this may be a disk image for Windows installations, or Linux, or any other utilities, such as antiviruses, error scanners, various editors).

After that, you will see the windows image on the top left and its contents on the right.

To Windows installation happened from a flash drive, it is not enough just to copy the files from the Windows 7 installation disk to a flash drive. First you need to format the USB flash drive and make it active (that is, indicate that it is bootable).
If you have a disk image and you don't know what to do with it. Then install the free program daemon tools light. This application allows you to open disk images as if they were virtual.
Now let's proceed directly to writing a disk image to a flash card. To do this, launch UltraISO and select the section labeled "Bootable" in the menu, select the "Burn Hard Disk Image" item in the drop-down submenu and click on it.

Now you need to make some settings so that the flash drive becomes bootable after recording. You will see a recording window in which you need to select the USB-HDD + recording type and after that you can start recording. But first, let's format the flash drive if we haven't done it before.

After formatting, click the "Write" button

After you have indicated to burn the ISO image to a USB flash drive in the UltraISO utility, you will have to wait a while until the process is completely completed.

And we look...

That's all. Windows 7 ultraiso bootable flash drive created

Now reinstall Windows...

Next, we restart the computer, if it does not boot from a flash drive, then in the BIOS we specify that the boot is done first of all from a flash drive (it all depends on your BIOS) and then install Windows 7 as from a regular disk.

As you can see, making a bootable flash drive out of an ordinary flash drive is not at all a difficult task, the main thing is to understand the functions of the UltraISO utility, which are not so many. If the first time you couldn’t make the USB flash drive bootable, then try formatting it first in UltraISO and then only write the image to it.

If for some reason in bios it is not possible to activate the boot from USB option, then you can restart the computer and hold down the F11 key. A menu of devices you can boot from should appear. The key to open this menu may be different, so you can try a few trial reboots, and you will definitely be able to boot from the USB flash drive.

Recently, more and more questions have arisen about installing Windows from a USB flash drive. This is partly due to the growth of netbook and ultrabook owners, which are not equipped with DVD drives. Almost all the difficulty lies in creating a bootable USB flash drive. Therefore, this article will only discuss how to create a bootable USB flash drive. The image for a bootable flash drive can be anything: Windows XP, Windows 7, Ubuntu and any other image that you can create yourself.

Create a bootable windows 7 flash drive

I will show how to make a bootable USB flash drive with an example Windows distribution 7.

This will require:
-UltraISO program (you need to download and install - use Yandex / google search)
- an empty flash drive with a capacity of at least 4GB
- the necessary disk image (for example, a file with *.iso extension).

First, prepare your flash drive if it is not empty. Transfer the necessary data and format (it will also be possible to format later - in the program itself).

Run the program (as administrator) UltraISO and open the required image file “ File -> Open”.

Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port if it has not already been connected. Select from the menu “ Boot -> Burn Hard Disk Image”.

Now select your USB flash drive in the Disk Drive line in this window. The image file line already contains the path to the image you selected/opened. The flash drive can be formatted by clicking on the "Format" button if it has not been done before. Press the "Record" button.

An information message will appear stating that the data on your flash drive will be lost. Click "Yes". If the message " You need to have administrator rights to perform the operation”, then you will need to run the application as an administrator (Right-click on the shortcut or UltraISO application -> Run as administrator).

In case of a successful launch, the process of recording a bootable Windows 7 flash drive should begin. Wait for the recording to finish. The creation of a bootable flash drive is completed. Now you can install Windows from a USB flash drive, similar to installing from a DVD.

Far from all modern laptops have a DVD drive, we are silent for ultrabooks, whose manufacturers initially abandoned the ability to read / write disks for the sake of an ultra-thin case. Therefore, reinstalling the operating system from a disk, as we all used to do, will no longer work and you need to look for another option. That is why we decided to tell you through UltraISO - a program that allows you to work with images. Of course, there is more convenient software, sharpened specifically for creating bootable flash drives. In addition, it is paid, but there are a number of analogues distributed free of charge. But if you have settled on the UltraISO program, we will not dispute your decision and will help you figure out its functionality. Well, get your flash drive ready, let's get started!

Create a bootable USB flash drive using UltraISO

So, first of all, we need to acquire the very image of the operating system. It can be equally both Windows 7 and the newer “Ten”. As a rule, bootable media is created not only for installing the OS, but also for resuscitating a computer. However, this is no longer so important - after all, in this manual we are considering the creation of a bootable version.

No wonder the prefix "ISO" appears in the name of the program, symbolizing the extension of the image file. The image itself can be downloaded on the Internet, on the official website or borrowed from a friend. This is not so important, the main thing is that it be complete and work flawlessly.

We need a flash drive with at least eight gigabytes of memory. This is more than enough. First copy important data from it, because the media will be formatted.

Create a bootable USB flash drive using UltraISO

Let's assume that you have already installed the program. Getting Started:

By exactly repeating the steps described above, you will actually write the operating system to the USB flash drive and be able to install it.

How to create a bootable USB flash drive from DVD

At the beginning of the article, we said that the image can be taken from anywhere: download it from the official website, from a third-party resource, or burn it from a disk. So let's take a quick look last option.

Imagine that you took from a friend boot disk with Windows 10, but for some reason do not want to install the OS from it. It is not necessary to create an ISO image via third party program, and then make a bootable flash drive according to the instructions above - you can go the other way, shorter, by writing the bootable flash drive directly:

Well, now you know how to make a USB flash drive bootable. The point is small - to learn how to restore / install Windows from it. But that's another story…

In the modern world, flash drives have become much more popular than optical discs. And the storage capacity of 32, 64 or 128 GB at one time was unattainable even for hard drives. Therefore, it became possible to create an installation Windows disk on a flash drive and, if necessary, boot from a flash drive. Such a flash drive is indispensable if you are the owner of an ultrabook or other type of computer without a DVD drive. Ways to create bootable flash drives appeared during the popularity of netbooks and remain relevant to this day.

You can create a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 7 of any type using popular program UltraISO. You can download it from the official site. The demo version only works for a week, but it doesn't matter to us: we only need UltraISO once. We also need a Windows 7 installation disk or its image.

Also prepare a flash drive that will become the carrier. It must have a volume of at least 4 GB (preferably 8 or more). This is the minimum size that allows you to place the Windows 7 installation files.

Windows 7 installation flash drive

So we will call the flash drive used to install Windows. To create it, you will need the following steps:

Some users install old 4 or 8 GB flash drives that have become too small to transfer data. However, we recommend forking out for brand new media. Now 4- or 8-gigabyte flash drives are inexpensive. And if the media fails during the Windows installation process, it will turn out very unpleasant, so it's better to play it safe.

After making the flash drive installation, put it in a box and use it only for its intended purpose.

UltraISO is a program for creating disk images and working with them. With UltraISO you can create images of CDs and hard drives in iso format. UltraISO is needed to create boot disks and flash cards. This is relevant for recording an image Windows systems or Linux.

This program allows you to create up to 8 virtual drives. Iso files are launched on the created virtual drives. UltraISO opens image files, extracts files and folders, edits them and converts them to standard ISO format.
The advantage of the UltraISO program is that it is multifunctional. This program has a simple interface in Russian.
In our article, we will look at how to use UltraISO. How to use this program to install Windows from a USB flash drive. For this action, you need a Windows installation disk, a USB flash drive, and the UltraISO program.

Download UltraISO for free

Download the program from the official website

Download and install the program. In the UltraISO program, go to the "tools" section, the item "create a CD image".

Then click the create button. An operating system disk image appears. From the created image we will make a bootable USB flash drive. Before creating a bootable flash drive, it must be formatted in FAT 32 format. The necessary data from the flash drive must be transferred before formatting. We go into the settings of the flash card and select the section to format with the desired FAT 32.

Then we select our flash drive, which we will make bootable. In the line "image file" we check again the path to the iso file. We press the "make" button.

The result is a bootable USB flash drive from the operating system, made using the UltraISO program. A flash drive for installing the system can be used repeatedly.

UltraISO - a program for working with disks and disk images in operating systems Windows families. Supported by all versions of Windows including 7, 8, 8.1, 10. Using UltraISO, you can create ISO, MDF, etc. disk images, edit disk images, create multi-boot disks and burn them to different media: flash drives and disks. What's there, UltraISO allows you to create images of not only small media, but entire disks, with the ability to restore them to another media.

The program has a simple and intuitive clear interface, localized into most languages of the world, including Russian. Does not require installation of additional software and takes only a few megabytes. Compared to similar programs, for example, NERO weighs several gigabytes, the functionality of which is also directed towards multimedia.

For editing and creating various disk images, the following programs can only be distinguished from alternatives: Paid version Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and from the free software CDburnerXP. The functionality of each program is worthy of a description in a separate article and worthy, at least, of attention, since working in Daemon Tools is first of all very simple for a person who has never worked with disk images, Alcohol 120% attracts attention with its rich functionality, and CDburnerXP is able to do almost everything that all three of these programs, but is distributed under a Freeware license, that is, for free. Unfortunately, it cannot create virtual drives in the UltraISO system. I can’t say whether this is a drawback or not, because it’s not always necessary to mount images into a virtual drive, but it’s better to know about this nuance. For creating virtual drives install Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% as an option.

Download UltraISO from the official website of the developer. The main functions of UltraISO will be described next. For search desired function use the table of contents to avoid reading what you already know. The functions are quite simple and easy to remember, now you will understand it. I will show all the actions using the premium version 9.6.6.3.3300 as an example. If you have trial version there are no differences other than temporary.

How to create a disk image in UltraISO

From disk

To create a disk image, first run the program and insert the disk into the drive. We launch UltraISO and click on the corresponding button in the program taskbar.

Here you need to select the drive with the disk, the folder for saving the disk image and the image format. If you do not need to protect the disk image with a password and open it later in the Nero program, for example, do nothing, select the default option - ISO. Click Make. The time to create an image depends on the type of media - CD, DVD or BD, on the degree of deterioration of the media and on the amount of data being copied.

From files on the computer

If you need to create a disk image from files on your computer, you will have to perform slightly different steps described above. To do this, use the file manager in the program window. We open the files necessary for recording in it and simply drag them into the above UltraISO window.

On the left side of the interface, you can immediately see the structure of the future ISO image. To save our image in the computer's memory, press File - Save As... We enter the name of the image, select the folder to save and, most importantly, the format of the future disk image - ISO, MDF, NRG, BIN and IMG. The default is ISO format, select it and click Save. Almost all disk imaging programs support ISO.

The time to save the image depends on the size and number of files added to the image. The larger the volume of files and their number, the more time it will take to save the image.

It is very easy to create a simple disk image and a disk image with files from a computer. However, if the capabilities of UltraISO were limited only to these functions, it would not be interesting to talk about UltraISO. Let's take a closer look at the capabilities of UltraISO. UltraISO can also create multi-boot flash drives with Windows 10 and other operating systems for installation on laptops, create images of flash media, hard drives, edit already created disk images and make a multiboot image from files (not from a finished ISO image downloaded from torrents) on a computer. Next, we'll look at these particular features of the application.

How to create a multiboot disk with Windows in UltraISO

To create a multiboot flash drive, open the disk image in the program - File - Open and look for the disk image, open it. Go to the tab and select the item Image recording hard drive.

In the window that opens, specify the flash drive for recording, format file system— USB HDD. Note that our disk image selected at the beginning of work has already been added there. Click burn. After burning the ISO image to a USB flash drive or disk, you can install the OS on your computer, run utilities and other applications to check the system.

To burn an image to a disc, open it in UltraISO and click the Burn CD Image button on the application toolbar.

How to create a multiboot Windows flash drive from files on your computer

Each Windows version It has special file, which allows you to make a flash drive or disk multiboot. On Windows 7, 8 and 10, this is a special bootfix.bin file. It is located in the boot folder in the root directory of the operating system drive. To make a disk multiboot, you need to correctly write it to a disk or USB flash drive, and not just write data to the device. The UltraISO functionality allows you to write OS files to a USB flash drive and make it multiboot.

I will show an example on files copied from a disk with Windows 10. To do this, follow these simple steps. Go to File - New - Bootable CD/DVD Image. In the file manager, look for the bootfix.bin file in the folder Files_your_Windows\boot and press Open.

Further we work with the method already familiar to us. Open the folder with Windows files 10 and add all of them to our project. Drag them from Explorer to the project window above. We add folders and files to the project, and not the folder itself with these files.

Then the project can be immediately written to a USB flash drive or disk. Click Boot - Burn an image of the Hard Disk. Further, as described in the instructions above - select the USB drive, and write the project to a USB flash drive.

After a while, we check the flash drive or disk.

How to Add Programs to a Windows Multiboot Disk

UltraISO has a feature for editing disk images. For example, you can add some programs to a disk image for further installation on a computer. To do this, open the ISO image in the program File - Open. And just out file manager at the bottom of the application, drag and drop all the necessary files into the disk image.

How to create a flash drive image

Using UltraISO, you can create an image of a flash drive, memory card or an entire hard drive for further use as virtual device or rewriting it to another medium. Hard disk images are created in UltraISO in ima format. The image will take up the entire disk space, even if it is empty or with a few small files. Therefore, be prepared that if only one 10 MB program is installed on the flash drive, and the volume of the flash drive is 16 GB, then the volume of the entire image will be 16 GB.

To create a flash drive image, go to the tab Bootstrap - Create hard image disk. There are few options for settings here. Select the folder to save the image, file name and click Save. After some time, it all depends on the volume of the media, you will have such a file the size of the media from which the copy was made.

Here you can burn the image to another USB flash drive, memory card, or HDD and edit for further work.

This error may appear when opening unsupported formats, in our case this is not our problem, since we just made the media image. The second reason is already ours - the copy of the carrier was read incorrectly or incompletely. To resolve this issue, re-copy the media in UltraISO.
