Remember how your smartphone "flyed" immediately after purchase? If you want to breathe new life into it, get rid of freezes and other errors, it will help hard reset- reset to factory settings, it is also a hardware reset. For this, it is not necessary to contact the service - you can easily handle it yourself.

Hard Reset in a smartphone will save it from some problems, but, alas, it will not save in case of a serious breakdown. Use this simple therapeutic method to free up the memory of the internal drive, get rid of "garbage", remember the forgotten graphic key, speed up the device a bit, or force it to turn on again. Also, Hard Reset will help prepare your smartphone for sale or exchange in an electronics store under the trade-in scheme.

How to prepare forHard reset in a smartphone

After a factory reset, the saved data will disappear and the smartphone will look like you just unpacked it after purchase. Therefore, save important information from the internal storage:

  • list of contacts;
  • multimedia (photos, videos, music files, books in electronic format);
  • data third party applications(messengers, accounting programs, etc.);
  • saved logins and passwords.

If you actively use Google services, then surely the list of contacts is already stored on the server of this Internet giant. Make sure your data is synced with cloud storage. To do this, go to Gmail through the desktop browser and select "Contacts" in the drop-down list at the top left instead of the inscription Gmail, which is displayed by default. Also, the item "Google Contacts" is available in the list of main Google services. If you want to further protect yourself, use the "Export" function and save your contacts in any of the suggested formats.

Media files can first be transferred to a flash drive or to a computer by connecting to the latter in data transfer mode. A more advanced way to back up is to use cloud storage again. By default, on all Android smartphones, copying data to Google Disk is available, on iOS devices - to iCloud, on Microsoft gadgets - to One Drive. You can also transfer files to such services:

  • Dropbox
  • Mega;
  • Cloud Mail.Ru;
  • Yandex.Disk
  • iDrive;
  • pCloud.

After the reset, you can return photos, videos and music back to the device or continue to use them in the "cloud" - many services offer this option. At least the listed products have well thought out photo viewing.

Some smartphone manufacturers offer their own cloud storage. For example, for Xiaomi it will be Mi Cloud. After registering and receiving an identifier, contacts, messages, photos from the Gallery, notes and records are automatically synchronized there (if there is an Internet connection).

Save the data of other applications using the means offered by the developers. In Viber, go to "Settings" - "Account" - "Backup". In WhatsApp - go to "Settings" - "Chats" - "Chat Backup". But the data of the simplest games that do not require registration will be irretrievably lost, be prepared for this.

If the device does not turn on or is frozen, you will not be able to back up important data. But even in this case, there is a chance to restore them after the reset. The 7-Data Recovery app is available for Android and Windows smartphones. AT free version it will help to recover up to 1 GB of lost data, and when buying a license - all information, regardless of the volume.

If you are preparing for sale or disposal Samsung smartphone with Android version 5.1 and higher, be sure to delete your Google account, otherwise, when you turn on the device after the reset, you will be asked for the login and password that were used before the Hard Reset. If the login and password are entered incorrectly, the smartphone will be blocked. Only employees of the Samsung service center will be able to turn it on after presenting the receipt issued when purchasing the device.

Make sure you remember the logins and passwords required for the operation of services and applications on your smartphone. Remember the data for authorization in Google and iOS - without them you will not be able to continue working after the reboot.

Hard Reset in an Android smartphone

In addition to Hard Reset, there is also Soft Reset - a "soft" reset. This is an emergency reboot of the smartphone without serious consequences (that is, without data loss). This reset method is similar to restarting the computer using the Reset button on the case. To perform a Soft Reset, just hold the power button on your smartphone for a few seconds.

*#*#7378423#*#*

*#*#7780#*#*

*2767*3855#

Any of these combinations can work. At the end of the entry, press the voice call button. If the combination is correct, the smartphone will reboot and automatically reset after turning on.

There is another way to Hard Reset - using fastboot utilities. However, working with it requires deeper knowledge and caution, so we do not consider it in this article.

    If an Android-based smartphone has become buggy and freezes, do not rush to take it to or perform warranty repairs. maybe this problem It will be possible to solve the banal reset of the settings (hard reset). In this case, all system settings will be restored to factory settings, and all contacts, installed applications, messages, etc. will be deleted.

    What is a hard reset and why is it needed

    A complete reset of Android settings to factory defaults is called a hard reset. It is recommended to do it if the smartphone is not stable (often freezes, buggy, etc.). It can be done in three different ways, each of which will now be considered. Before starting a hard reset, do not forget to back up all data.

    You can make a complete copy of all smartphone data using the program.

    Programmatic way to reset Android

    It consists in using the standard function that is in the settings of any Android system. To use it, you need to go to "Settings", then select "Backup and reset" and click "Reset settings". After that, a warning will be shown about deleting all existing data, and at the bottom - a confirmation button "Reset phone settings".

    You need to confirm the selected action by pressing the "Erase all" button.
    In some, older versions of Android below version 2.1, finding the factory reset may be slightly different. It could be found in the "Privacy" - "Data Reset" section.

    Method without applying settings, using code

    To do this, dial *2767*3855# in the number entry menu. This will lead to an immediate full restoration of the smartphone settings without any additional confirmation from the user.

    Resetting Android settings when the smartphone is not responding

    Sometimes there are times when the gadget does not respond to any commands. In this case, the third method of resetting the settings may come in handy. When turning on Android, simultaneously hold down three buttons: "Power", "Home" and "Volume Down". This combination should be held until the “ ” mode appears. In it, select the “Wipe” section (which means a complete reset of the settings) and confirm your choice by pressing the “Home” button.

    After a hard reset, you may be tempted to restore Android from a backup. However, this should be done with great care - after all, perhaps the problem that caused the problem lay in the previous settings or in one of the installed applications. Therefore, it is better not to take risks, but to set up your smartphone as new by entering your google account details. After that, contacts, mail letters, etc. will be synced with your smartphone. The necessary applications can be installed independently from the Play Market.

    Fans of alternative firmware for Android should remember that a hard reset does not affect the areas that store installed additional firmware. This means that any mods and changes to the software part of the operating system will not be deleted from the phone's memory. A similar fact should be taken into account if a full restoration is performed, for example, in order to return the gadget under warranty.

    In addition, a full reset does not affect the contents of the memory card. You will have to remove information from it yourself. However, remember that any deletion with the "Delete" command is easily reversible, and in case of confidential data, it is better to take care of the card additionally.

    Tablets on the Android OS have many advantages, the main of which is the relative cheapness of the device. But for all low-cost Android devices, there comes a moment when your fast and productive gadget starts to terribly slow down, lag and freeze (freeze is a delay in rendering frames in a game or system). Replacing the tablet with a new one does not seem best solution, after all, not so long ago it worked as it should. Then you can return the gadget to factory settings or do a factory reset - this will surely help breathe life into your device. In this article, we will show you how to make a Hard Reset on an Android tablet using various methods.

    Why rollback settings

    The main reason why users remove all their settings and applications from the device is the insufficient speed of its operation. Overloaded with various programs, games, sometimes even viruses picked up on the Internet from pirate game or the gadget can no longer cope with the program daily tasks and begins to infuriate with its slowness! In such a situation, Hard Reset will really help restore the gadget to its former performance.

    Incorrectly installed custom (unofficial) firmware can also be the reason for the complete cleaning of the tablet on Android. However, in this case, a hard reset will not be enough: you will also need to install the official service firmware to clean up your tablet. But it's a little more difficult

    Errors caused by obtaining root rights (the so-called access to the root file system of the device, which allows you to change a large number of settings) or improper use of applications that require these same root rights. It is worth noting that after a hard reset, you will lose root rights and, if necessary, you will need to get them again.

    Reset via the settings menu

    Let's start with the simplest way - resetting the settings in the settings menu. This method is suitable for those who want to delete absolutely everything from the tablet installed applications, all files, all accounts and everything. If you didn’t install unofficial firmware (if you don’t know what it is, then you definitely didn’t install it), then you will receive a tablet in the same condition as when you bought it. Therefore, before cleaning the gadget, transfer all the necessary files to your computer or to the cloud. It is also worth noting that for this operation, the device must be at least half charged.

    Let's consider this operation step by step:

    1. First, go to settings, click on "Backup and reset".
    2. Here we are interested in "Reset settings". You will be reminded that if you reset the settings, you will lose all data stored on this tablet.
    3. If you are sure that you are ready to reset, press the "Reset settings" button (well, or something similar, the inscription for some reason changes from tablet to tablet).
    4. A robot will appear in which gears or some geometric figures resembling the atomic structure of some substances are spinning.
    5. After 5-10 minutes, the tablet will boot itself.

    Attention! Before performing this operation, be sure to remember to copy all important data from the device, otherwise it will be quite difficult to restore them.

    Reset via service code

    If for some reason the settings menu does not appear for you, you can do a Hard Reset (reset settings) by entering special service a code in the Phone app where you usually dial the called party's phone number (if you have such an app on your tablet at all). Here is the code itself: *2767*3855# . Be careful as no warning before recovery will pop up. Further processes occurring with the tablet are similar to those described in the first method.

    In recovery mode, you can apply various updates or restore the device at the software level. This method can be used if the tablet does not turn on. Make sure your gadget is charged. If it was on, turn it off. To get into recovery mode, follow the instructions for your model:

    • SAMSUNG: On a Samsung tablet, hold down the volume up, power, and home buttons until they vibrate slightly;
    • LENOVO: on a Lenovo tablet, you need to simultaneously hold down both volume buttons and hold for a few seconds, then release them and press the volume down key once;
    • SONY: Hold down Volume Up and Power buttons until the screen turns on. After that, stop holding the power button and start holding both volume keys;
    • HUAWEI: Hold down the volume down and power keys for about ten seconds;
    • PRESTIGIO: On the Prestigio tablet, in order to start the recovery, you need to hold the volume up and power key.

    After entering the menu in any of the presented manufacturers, using the volume buttons or the screen touch, select Wipe - Wipe data/Factory rese t (selection is made either by pressing the screen, or the power button, or the home button). The tablet itself will do everything and reboot.

    Reset using a computer

    If there are no volume buttons on the tablet, then you can reset through the computer. This is done by programs produced by the manufacturer of your tablet. It makes no sense to describe the recovery process in this way, because Each program must have its own instructions. You can find the desired program and manual for it on the Internet on the manufacturer's website. All you need is a USB cable from the gadget's box to connect it to a PC, drivers downloaded in advance, and some free space on the hard drive of a computer or laptop.

    There are situations in which it is necessary to make a complete data reset of your android device. Performing this simple operation is not difficult. In this article, you will learn how to reset on android step by step.

    So, when you decide to hard reset android, you need to understand that the following data will be deleted from your device:

    • Contacts, messages, call history, etc.
    • Files saved on the internal memory of the gadget
    • Installed applications (programs and games)

    Only the data that is stored on your SIM card and memory card will be saved.

    If you are not ready to part with your data, then save it with a backup. To do this, you will need a special application, which can be freely downloaded from the Play Store, but this is not about that now.

    When the necessary data is saved, proceed to the reset. Let's look at three main ways:

    using the menu

    This method is suitable for those cases where you have the opportunity to enter the settings menu and use the standard function to restore the factory settings.

    In the device menu, open the item "Settings"

    Choose "Backup and Reset"

    At the very bottom you will see the item "Reset"

    We press! We see a warning about deleting all data from the internal memory of the device. There will be a button at the bottom of the screen. "reset phone settings"

    The gadget again persistently reminds of the irretrievable loss of data, and if you decide, then feel free to press on "erase everything"

    We have reached the goal, the device will reboot and go to the factory settings. Sometimes the names of the items are different, but the algorithm remains the same.

    "Android" is a great operating system with many features and capabilities, which is designed for mobile devices. Intuitive interface, openness of the program code and democracy - these are the main advantages of this shell, on which Google's developers are tirelessly working. Users have extensive options for modifying the platform, downloading new applications, installing launchers, and more. And if you also get root rights (advanced administrator rights), you can completely change the system to an unrecognizable look. If you wish, you can always do a factory reset (Hard Reset), and the gadget will be as good as new. In this publication, we will talk about how to make a Hard Reset on Android and why, in principle, it may be needed.

    Why do a Hard Reset?

    Before moving on to such a procedure, I would like to say a few words about what it includes, what it is fraught with and why it can be useful to the user. Hard Reset is a complete reset, that is, you return the system state to its original form. As a rule, in this form you buy a new device. First of all, the owner of the device will need a Hard Reset when selling it. This method is much easier than searching for all user data and deleting it yourself, besides, resetting the settings guarantees complete cleaning of the cache and other digital garbage. Hard Reset is used as a panacea for various malfunctions. For example, a smartphone may freeze, slow down, give various errors. In this case, you can "cheer up" the system with a reset. And finally, Hard Reset is the way out if you forgot the graphic or numeric password from the screen lock. So how to hard reset on Android?

    Personal data on reset

    A significant disadvantage of this procedure is that when resetting to factory settings, all user settings, applications, personal data, saved accounts, logins, passwords and all information contained in the phone's memory are deleted. Only the data that is stored on the memory card will remain, as they say, it lives its own life, and the only way to make adjustments to its contents is to format or purposefully edit the information that it includes. Sometimes you have to reset the settings in an unpredictable situation (as in the case of a breakdown or a forgotten password), and in order not to lose important information, make a backup copy of it. An excellent way to save personal information for all Android users is the Google cloud and similar resources, but you should take care of this in advance, because after a Hard Reset, the information is no longer recoverable.

    How to hard reset on android?

    There are several ways to carry out such a procedure. We will talk a little about each of them.

    If you need a factory reset, for example, in case of problems or if you forgot your password, the next method is for you. It is the most difficult, because it requires the user to visit the Recovery mode (a small console for loading operating system and reset). For each device model, the way to get into this console is different. First you need to turn off the device. Then press a certain combination of buttons. For example, if you do not know how to hard reset Samsung, a combination of power keys (it is also a lock button) and volume down will do. This is the most common combination and is suitable for most models. modern smartphones. The next most popular combination is power + volume up or the same combinations with the home button (the central button below the display).

    Recovery mode

    If you see the "Android" logo on the screen, and then a black screen with a list of actions, then you are in the console. Now you need to select the wipe data / There are few items in total, so this will not be difficult. Switch through the list using the buttons that control the sound volume. By long pressing the lock button you confirm the selection. The factory reset has been completed and you are returned to the original menu. Now you just need to return to normal mode with a reboot. To do this, select Reboot System. HTC and other models? Yes, exactly the same if the device is running the Android OS.

    Reset using "Settings"

    If nothing terrible has happened to your system and you can easily get to it, then this method is for you. On the latest versions, there is a "Restore and Reset" item. Now click "Reset Settings". You will have the opportunity to read another message that the data will be deleted and think carefully about whether you need it. If everything suits, we confirm the action again, and everything is ready. If you are wondering how to make a Hard Reset on an Android tablet, then this method should also work for you. As a last resort, use previous version, however, getting into the "recovery" mode on tablets can be quite difficult.

    Factory reset with code

    Few Android users know that many important operations can be performed using a series of numeric codes that are dialed on the dialer (phone number input panel). That is, you simply dial a certain code as if you were dialing a regular number, and the system responds to it accordingly. Enter code *2767*3855# , *#*#7378423#*#* or *#*#7780#*#* depending on the gadget model, and your settings will be immediately reset without any additional confirmation. Therefore, think carefully before dialing one of the codes. This method is good for its speed and the fact that it is suitable even for Chinese "Androids". If you don't know how to Hard Reset Prestigio, this is a great option. Such codes exist for other functions and were developed for testing devices.

    That's all. Now you know how to make a Hard Reset on Android. The main thing is to do it wisely, slowly and foreseeing all the consequences.
