A year ago, we knew that a secure phone is something slow, expensive, with a bad screen. Today we are used to the fact that such smartphones have both normal processors and decent matrices. But tough devices are still lagging behind their unprotected counterparts. It was all the more interesting for me to test the Jesy J9S smartphone, which has NFC and wireless charging.

Despite the fact that I was not familiar with this brand before, the device impressed me with its balance, good design, as well as high-quality materials and assembly. But let's start with specifications who are also curious.

Features are decent. Of course, the processor is at the "lower limit", but for 90% modern applications it's enough. 4 GB of memory is great, 64 GB of built-in flash is also great. Support for three positioning systems - too. And, finally, a really big battery - we've only seen this before with Oukitel. Well, let's look at the smartphone from all sides.

Appearance and ergonomics

The front of the smartphone looks quite elegant despite large dimensions. Aggressive "horns" and slightly bulging endings on the sides all create a very pleasant feeling, which is emphasized by small yellow fragments. The frames cannot be called narrow, but for secure smartphones this is the norm, usually the situation is worse. Just a little surprised touch buttons- however, they work fine if you press them with gloved hands. The screen itself is bright and contrasting, with good color reproduction.



On the left are two soft buttons spaced apart from each other. One of them calls the camera, the second turns on the alarm mode with a long press or the program for PTT - with a short one.

The volume rocker and power button are on the right. The buttons are tight, you need to make an effort to press them, but there is no doubt that accidental pressing is unlikely.

At the top is a headphone jack, covered with a flap. Nearby you can see the peephole of the infrared port.

The headphone jack is recessed quite deep, headphones with a thick connector may not fit.

The charging connector is located at the bottom, it is also covered with a plug.

Uses a modern USB Type C connector.

Pay attention also to the loop - it will come in handy for attaching the belt, in case you additionally want to make sure that the phone does not fall.

On top of the back cover there is a camera (it protrudes slightly from the case, but is covered by a side), a fingerprint scanner, and a connector for industrial scanners.

Under cover slots for installation SIM cards and microSD, they are installed independently. An interesting feature is that the lid is not fastened with a screw, but snaps into place, but to open it, you need to press the button inside with a sharp object (there is a screwdriver included for this).

There is nothing interesting below, but there are logos of supported standards.

The phone is collapsible, the back cover can be removed if desired, however, as we were warned by the company, this may adversely affect the water resistance.

The phone itself is quite bulky, but fits well in a medium-sized hand.

The delivery set is extended - there is not only a charger and a cable, but also a screwdriver, an adapter from nanoSIM to microSIM (2 pieces), as well as headphones of good quality in a rubber sheath that is pleasant to the touch.

The box is beautiful, unusual shape.

In general, the smartphone surprises with thoughtfulness and good design. It is immediately clear that the developers tried very hard and attracted competent specialists who thought through all the possible nuances.

Let's look at performance.

Device tests

If you look at the system from the point of view of Antutu, then everything is quite expected. This processor traditionally scores 45-49 thousand in Antutu. At the same time, I tested the number of multitouch points. 5 is quite the optimal level. The screen itself is responsive.

By the way, the speed of the built-in flash storage is also normal. And, finally, one more test of "daily performance".

Computing power is also on the level.


Performance in 3DMark is also quite expected - at the level of SGS5.



Total - the Jesy J9S has sufficient performance for everyday work and games. It is unlikely that you will have problems in the near future. But smart, of course, is not gaming.

Camera

The Jesy J4S has a very decent 13 megapixel module, which is capable of producing good pictures. For some reason, they are extrapolated to 16 MPix, but this is a disease of all Chinese. Just set it to 13 megapixels to get maximum quality shooting.

The camera renders the colors well (the fact that they are pale here - this is Moscow in the fall), and also decently works out a strong difference in lighting.

Even with a lack of lighting, the camera performs very decently, although, of course, the clarity drops. But the noise reduction is not aggressive, and everything around does not turn into plasticine.

Clarity is uniform throughout the field of the frame, it can be seen that the optics are good.

In my opinion, the exposure could have been made half a stop smaller, the camera sometimes lifts it up, but this can be adjusted when shooting if desired.

The front camera is so-so, but it will do for a selfie from the training ground.


In normal indoor lighting, the camera performs very well.

You can even try to do some art.

Summing up - the Jesy J9S has a surprisingly good camera for a rugged phone. I don’t even remember if there are those who have it better now.

Other tests

  • Excellent speaker volume and clarity
  • Good voice microphone, everything is audible even in a noisy environment
  • Loud external speaker, no questions asked
  • The device works correctly with LTE, including b20, so you will be provided with maximum coverage.
  • Work with GPS is excellent, all satellites are caught with a bang. There are GPS, Glonass, Beidou.
Application Android Pay refuses to work. The developers claim that this will be fixed in the upcoming firmware.

At the same time, MiFare Classic works, the phone is able to read the “troika” card.

In total, I don’t know how true the statement that Android Pay will work will turn out to be, but the fact that MiFare is supported is already not bad.

Battery life and charging

The smartphone is equipped with a 12V 1.2A charger, the maximum charging power is 9V 2A. If necessary, the device can be used as a power bank, but please note that the adapter for this is not included in the kit, you will have to purchase it separately. Not every adapter will fit - the usual OTG Type-C adapter did not reach the socket, but the complete adapter from Oukitel came up. The charge current was low, only about 0.4A - so the Jesy JS9 can be considered more like a backup charger for flashlights or electronic cigarettes than a full-fledged power bank. However, this is a misfortune of all such smartphones, they do not support fast energy transfer technologies, and even full-fledged 5V 2A do not pull.

In the Antutu Battery Tester test at maximum power, Jesy JS9 scored 13243 points. This is an excellent result - more than 2 times better than the Nexus 4 and 1.7 times better than the Lenovo S920. In fact, only Oukitel's "mega-bricks" overtake Jesy JS9.




Time battery life with a very strong load was more than 2 days. With an average load, the smartphone will work for itself for 3-4 days. At the same time, thanks to powerful charging, the smartphone is fully charged in about 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Wireless charging is a little disappointing - its speed is very low, the current is limited to 0.7A. In order to really replenish the charge, the device must be held for a very long time. In my case, the charge rose to 90% in about 9 hours. The only use I see is if you have a wireless charging glass in your car and you constantly throw your smartphone in there to keep it at the right level of charge between periods of use.

Total

Despite the new branding, the Jesy JS9 is remarkably balanced. It has a powerful enough filling for everyday work, good camera, nice design, great battery. It can be used as a power bank, however, for low-power devices.

The disadvantages of the device include a lot of weight (however, there's probably nothing to be done here), and the traditional design with plugs, there is a fear that after some time they will come loose. However, as I said, the smartphone looks very well made.
