It is difficult to buy a smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard in 2019. In fact, the BlackBerry brand is exclusively engaged in the production of such devices. I am pleased with the fact that he makes them very high quality. Some of the models included in the rating of the best were released a long time ago, but even today they offer buyers good opportunities and are sold on various sites. Those users who are focused on the most modern and relevant devices should immediately scroll through the list to the end - the last two gadgets were released in 2018 and there is nothing newer for sale as of March 2019.

If you go to an electronics store, you will definitely pay attention to one fact. Overwhelming majority modern phones does not have a numeric or QWERTY keyboard. All of them are faceless in appearance, since most of the front panel is occupied by a touch screen. Where are the buttons? Why have smartphones with keypads become a rarity? The first smart devices could not be imagined without a keyboard. For example, the Nokia 9210 Communicator was made in the form of a clamshell, hiding many physical buttons inside it.

A little later, Nokia N-Gage and Siemens SX1 were released. These are very different smartphones, but they both had a certain number of keys. In the mid-2000s, PDAs and communicators began to appear on store shelves, in which the number of buttons was reduced to a minimum. They were controlled by pressing the stylus on different areas of the touch screen. But the real revolutionary in this area was Apple company, the first to launch a touchscreen smartphone that is incredibly easy to master.

Interestingly, the first devices on Android based- these were smartphones with a QWERTY keyboard. In particular, the first commercial model was the HTC Dream, which had a sliding block with keys. Devices of this type have been produced for several years. But later, almost all manufacturers abandoned this form factor. There are several reasons for this:

  • Google recommends (but does not mandate) keeping the number of physical keys to a minimum.
  • Smartphones with keypads are often large and heavy.
  • Such devices are less reliable.
  • Touch control is actually simpler than push-button control.

BlackBerry Prive

  • Operating system: Android 5.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 808 MSM8992 (6 cores, 1.8 GHz)
  • Memory size: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display: 5.43 inches, AMOLED, 2560 x 1440 dots

Price: from 22 990 rubles.

In 2016, the blackberry company unexpectedly released a push-button smartphone on Android, forgetting about its own operating system. This has benefited the BlackBerry Priv, as its customers can install a huge number of applications, while the Canadian operating system offers a very modest choice.

With the characteristics of the device, everything is in order. The smartphone has a good processor and sufficient RAM. All this allows you to run even very heavy programs and games. At the same time, the keyboard does not interfere at all, since it is implemented according to the retractable principle - most of the time you simply do not see it. A slider with a QWERTY keyboard is not only convenient, but also original.

It should be noted that this is the last device from the Canadian brand, which was produced at the facilities of BlackBerry itself. In the future, the creation of smartphones under this brand was entrusted to the holders of the Alcatel trademark - TCL. BlackBerry Priv upsets only high price and plastic case. But it is quite possible to put up with the second drawback, because it provided the device with at least some sane mass (192 grams).

Advantages

  • High resolution AMOLED display.
  • 18-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture.
  • Convenient slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
  • LTE support.
  • Support Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac.
  • Long battery life.

Flaws

  • Old version of android.
  • Some people will find it hard.
  • Very high cost.

BlackBerry Q10

  • Operating system: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Snapdragon S4 Plus (2 cores, 1.5 GHz)
  • Memory size: 2 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.1 inches, AMOLED, 720 x 720 dots

Price: from 12,990 rubles.

This smartphone is made in a traditional form factor. Its main difference from most modern monoblocks is the QWERTY keyboard present here. All buttons have a short, but noticeable finger stroke, so that the text is typed very quickly. It should also be noted the high build quality - usually a smartphone does not lose its presentation even after a year of use.

The screen of such a device cannot be large. But the Canadians managed to significantly increase the resolution, so that the display contains a lot of controls and a variety of information. There is an NFC chip in the model, but within the operating system installed here, it is practically useless. It is noteworthy that the screen of the device was created using AMOLED technology. Organic light-emitting diodes significantly save energy, as a result of which the device has to be charged every one and a half to two days. You can only find fault with the operating system, which can now safely be called outdated.

In 2019, the model will appeal to a true fan of correspondence, which is much more convenient on a physical keyboard than a touch counterpart.

Advantages

  • No noticeable pixelation.
  • Strong data encryption.
  • Good 8-megapixel camera.
  • Classic QWERTY keyboard.
  • Not the shortest run time.

Flaws

  • A limited operating system.
  • Weak stuffing.
  • High price.

BlackBerry Passport

  • Operating system: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AA (4 cores, 2.2GHz)
  • Memory size: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1440 x 1440 pixels

Price: from 20 999 rubles.

It is a symbol of its era. The latest device built on the basis of the BlackBerry OS operating system. Its creators decided to abandon the already traditional design, maximizing the width of the device. As a result, they managed to endow the smartphone not only with a fairly comfortable QWERTY keyboard, but also with a screen that has actually become a classic – until 2019, BlackBerry adhere to a 4.5-inch matrix. One can only regret that AMOLED technology had to be abandoned. Because of this, time battery life did not become higher (although the battery capacity increased), and the color rendition became not so good.

In fact, this is the best push-button smartphone based on BlackBerry OS. Inside it are good components, and therefore the user does not encounter slowdowns, and all applications are loaded almost instantly. The main camera should also please, which has a 13-megapixel sensor and optical stabilization Images. Well, support for LTE-A of the fourth category contributes to very fast data transfer. Finally, the metal body will keep its perfect appearance for many years. Surprisingly, with all this, the device weighs no more than 196 grams.

Advantages

  • Work in LTE-A networks.
  • Good display resolution.
  • Decent accessories.
  • Housing made of metal and plastic.
  • The main camera is supplemented with an optical stabilizer.
  • Not the highest price.

Flaws

  • Some buyers will find the weight too heavy.
  • Front-camera weak - 2 megapixels.

BlackBerry Porsche design P'9983

  • operating roomsystem: BlackBerry OS
  • CPU: Qualcomm MSM8960 (2 cores, 1.5 GHz)
  • Memory size: 2 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.1 inches, 720 x 720 dots

Price: from 44,500 rubles.

Perhaps this is the most beautiful device with smartphone features among those with a QWERTY-keyboard. Although the device is far from new, it still has a large amount of memory. It is also impossible not to note the possibility of data transfer via LTE networks, which sometimes even modern devices do not have.

The main camera is 8 MP. The resolution of the front camera was suddenly increased to 2 megapixels, which is quite unexpected for the Canadian company. Of course, such a camera cannot be used to take selfies, but it is quite possible to organize video communication with its help. It's hard to imagine a BlackBerry Porsche design P'9983 owner who doesn't have enough of that. And if so, a microSD card slot will come to the rescue.

Advantages

  • Stylish metal body.
  • LTE support.
  • Large amount of memory.

Flaws

  • Not the longest running time.
  • Outdated operating system.
  • Incredibly high cost.

BlackBerry Keyone

  • Operating system: Android 7.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 625 MSM8953 (8 cores, 2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM
  • Display:

Price: from 21500 rubles.

All of the above devices were released at a time when BlackBerry was a company in its own right. In the same period, the brand cooperates with TCL Mobile by supplying their own services for them. The product of cooperation between the two companies was DTEK smartphones - Alcatel clones, but with BlackBerry software. In 2017, TCL Mobile is finally bought out by BlackBerry and the first brainchild is the KEYone model. Remarkably, it was created before the consolidation of assets, but appeared on sale after. Due to the absence of any relevant alternative (all of the above models are quite old), this device became a real gift for fans of smartphones with a QWERTY keyboard in 2017. There are few fans, but devices continue to be released for their sake and the result is very interesting.

Visually, the device has become a return to classic phones with a keyboard. At the same time, the device is slightly larger than the now familiar touch devices. It has an impressive thickness - 9.4 mm, a large weight - 180 grams and an extremely interesting combination of materials. The side face is aluminum. The back cover is plastic with a velvety surface and texture. In the hands of all this combination feels good, and the user immediately understands that he is holding a serious gadget. The manufacturer tried to make a noticeable device, so all the elements here are large - the camera, the logo, the control buttons. Everything is catchy, but not pretentious.

The model received a small display with sufficient resolution for its size. In terms of detail, it's good, but traditionally BlackBerry lacks brightness. Because of this, it is not very comfortable to use the device in the sun. The video is displayed more than well, despite the ratio of 3 to 2, but playing in landscape orientation is inconvenient. Here the reason is that the keyboard outweighs - it is tiring to keep the smartphone in this position for a long time.

The 3505 mAh battery provides 2 days of work at medium loads. If you use the gadget more actively, then it will still live for a day. This is a very pleasant indicator. In addition, there is fast charging. The device received 3/32 GB of memory, the main drive expands to 2 TB, the slot is combined. Chipset - Snapdragon 625, not the most powerful, but for this smartphone it is enough. Cameras - 12 and 8 megapixels. They take good quality pictures, have all the modern features such as face enhancement and the like. The maximum video resolution is 4K. Of course, photography fans will not appreciate the device, but most users will like the result.

The KEYone smartphone offers all proprietary software related to the protection of user data - BB Hub, Password Keeper and others. In fact, stealing information from a BlackBerry is impossible. For many people in modern world this is a weighty argument. It is worth mentioning that the model received all modern wired and wireless interfaces - Type-C, WI-Fi ac. Regarding the keyboard, too, not everything is simple. First of all, you can assign a quick call to a particular function to each button. At the same time, they support long and short presses. There are all the usual combinations - ctrl + c, ctrl + v and others to simplify working with text. The manufacturer did not forget about continuous input - you can swipe through the desired letters to form a word (similar to the touch keyboard). The fingerprint scanner is hidden in the space bar.

Advantages:

  • Corporate software.
  • Great amount keyboard functions.
  • Decent camera.
  • Good performance considering positioning.
  • Protective glass - Gorilla Glass 4.
  • Excellent ergonomics.
  • High autonomy + fast charging.
  • There is NFC support.

Flaws:

  • By the standards of 2019, the main drive is small, while the slot is combined.
  • Insufficient screen brightness.
  • It is inconvenient to play in landscape orientation.

BlackBerry Key 2

  • Operating system: Android 8.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 660 SDM660 (8 cores, up to 2.2GHz)
  • Memory size: 6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1620 x 1080 pixels

Price: from 35,000 rubles.

Smartphone Key 2 from BlackBerry has become the most powerful device of the company. The device in comparison with KEYone has changed visually, and also became more interesting in terms of hardware. In terms of materials, the manufacturer, as before, settled on 7000 series aluminum for the frame and unusual plastic with a rubberized surface for the back cover. Due to this, the phone turned out to be non-slippery, very comfortable in the hand and smearing it is almost impossible. An interesting feature is related to the glass coating. The previous model used Gorilla Glass 4, in this case the 3rd generation was used. This is due to the fact that the device received small frames around the screen, which eliminates the impact on it, and besides, the weight was shifted to the keyboard. If the smartphone falls, it will hit the keyboard. At the same time, the 3rd generation of protective glass is more resistant to scratches. It turns out that it is almost impossible to break or scratch it - unless of course you do it purposefully with a direct blow. Another nice change is that the matrix has become brighter. The indicator is 550 nits, which is enough even in bright light. The company took into account the mistakes of past years and finally corrected the situation. The fingerprint scanner, as before, is hidden in the "gap".

Battery – 3500 mAh with Quick Charge 3.0. The charge is enough for 2 days of work. As before, the device has all wireless interfaces - NFC, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0. The novelty received a good selfie camera of 8 megapixels, as well as a dual matrix on the back - 12 + 12 megapixels. Now the smartphone can make Bokeh and it turns out to be more than worthy. Another nice opportunity is shooting Slo-mo. It should be noted that the camera loses to numerous competitors in the same price segment, but do not forget that BlackBerry KEY 2 is primarily a working tool. Given this positioning, there can be no complaints about the camera.

In terms of performance, the phone turned out to be very thoughtful. Snapdragon 660 was chosen as the processor and this is a tribute to the best combination of performance and autonomy. For those tasks for which the device is designed, it is quite enough. It makes no sense to talk about memory, everything is fine here - 6 GB of RAM and a choice of 64 or 128 GB of ROM. Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android 8.1, but the company promises an update to next version 9.0. Naturally, all proprietary applications for optimization and safety at work are present.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • Given the positioning, there are no cons.

BlackBerry Key 2

  • Operating system: Android 8.1
  • CPU: Snapdragon 636 (8 cores, up to 2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.5 inches, IPS, 1620 x 1080 pixels

Price: from 26,900 rubles.

BlackBerry KEY 2 LE came out a little later than its older brother KEY 2 and actually became its budget version. The model received visual changes - in design and keyboard it is closer to KEYone, but the smartphone is lighter. The frame is made of metal, the back panel is branded plastic, but with a new texture. The novelty was distinguished by new colors - red, bronze and black. The frame and frets of the keyboard are painted in them. It looks really interesting.

The novelty is powered by Snapdragon 636, which is an intermediate option between the chipsets of the first and second versions of the model. Memory - 4/64 GB. All this is quite enough for everyday work. The battery turned out to be the smallest - 3000 mAh, but at the same time it can withstand a working day without difficulty. There is fast charging. The gadget was equipped with a dual camera - 13 + 5 megapixels with all the features that the older version has. Front module - 8 megapixels with flash. In terms of software options, the device completely repeats KEY 2. OS - Android 8.1 with an update to the next version.

In fact, this device was released for those who are closer to the design of KEYone, but need the capabilities of KEY 2. In addition, in comparison with the latter, the novelty wins in price.

Advantages:

  • Up-to-date OS updated to a newer version.
  • Quality cameras.
  • Decent performance.
  • Corporate software.
  • Interesting body colors.
  • NFC support.

Flaws:

  • Against the background of previous models, the device is not so autonomous, but in general it will be enough for a day of work.

Samsung Galaxy Y Pro

  • Operating system: Android 2.3
  • CPU: Broadcom BCM21553 (1 core, 832 MHz)
  • Memory size: 384 MB RAM and 160 MB ROM
  • Display: 2.6" TFT, 240 x 320 dots

Price: less than 7000 rubles.

At one time, push-button smartphones on Android were produced by many large companies. good example that is served by the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro. It is a pity that the South Koreans did not produce a successor to this model. Now it is quite outdated - applications for Android 2.3 are almost never developed. But if you have recently used a QWERTY-smartphone from Nokia based on Symbian, then the South Korean product may well suit you.

The device with a twist keyboard on Android turned out to be very light - its weight does not exceed 108 grams. The keys are pressed clearly, their mechanism is made according to the traditional system - they should withstand at least a couple of years of active use. Concerning wireless networks, then there is support for 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Only the minimum amount of RAM can confuse, which makes it difficult to use some services. And the screen could have been installed better, because the TFT-matrix is famous for its minimal viewing angles.

Advantages

  • Minimum weight;
  • Convenient keyboard;
  • Not the largest sizes;
  • Optimal price tag.

Flaws

  • Old version of the operating system;
  • Weak components;
  • Camera resolution - only 3.2 MP;
  • A simple display.

Runbo X3

  • Operating system: Android 4.0
  • CPU: MediaTek MT6577 (2 cores, 1.2 GHz)
  • Memory size: 1 GB RAM and 4 GB ROM
  • Display: 3.5 inches, 480 x 800 dots

Price: 10000 rub.

This device has not only a QWERTY-keyboard, but also a protected case. Practice shows that it is impossible to use it constantly for typing a large number of texts. But on the other hand, such a device shows itself perfectly in field conditions. The creators also assume that their creation will be used in travel and at work in the conditions of the most serious exploitation. It is possible to break the Runbo X3, but with incredible difficulty. The device has not the worst components.

Most of all, the buyer should be pleased with the camera, which has an 8-megapixel resolution. And the LED flash will not only help make the picture brighter, but also allow you to find a thing lost in the bushes. There is also a front camera, but its resolution is so low that it is better to forget about its existence. As for the wireless modules, the device assumes its use in 3G networks. There is also a stable functioning navigation module that interacts with GPS satellites. If you have not gone very far from the urban area, then you can listen to the FM radio. And the smartphone is also capable of operating in walkie-talkie mode using the PTT Walkie Talkie 5km 400-470 MHz module.

Advantages

  • Decent accessories;
  • Protection against moisture and shock;
  • Good main camera;
  • Small but clear display;
  • Built-in radio.

Flaws

  • The keyboard is not very comfortable;
  • Large weight (245 grams);
  • Working hours could be longer.

DELL Venue Pro

  • Operating system: Windows Phone 7
  • CPU: Qualcomm QSD8250 (1 core, 1 GHz)
  • Memory size: 512 MB RAM and 8 GB ROM
  • Display: 4.1 inches, AMOLED, 480 x 800 dots

Price: 28000 rub.

When listing smartphone manufacturers, you probably won't remember DELL. This company works closely with Microsoft, creating quite good laptops and all-in-ones. From time to time, this manufacturer strikes experiments. One of them resulted in the birth of the DELL Venue Pro.

This is a slider running the seventh version of Microsoft's mobile operating system. As usual, it does not devour resources, and therefore we recommend not paying attention to weak components. Although I would like more permanent memory, because there is no microSD slot. This smartphone with a sliding QWERTY keyboard cannot boast of a very high resolution display. But it is not so low that the pixelization is clearly evident. You can buy a smartphone with a keypad for the sake of typing a large amount of text. The operating system contributes to this - it interacts perfectly with Word and Excel. But otherwise, it loses to Android, since the number of applications developed for it is very limited. Also, it should be noted that the camera is weak by today's standards and a very decent weight of the device, equal to 192 grams.

Advantages

  • Original by modern standards form factor;
  • Well done work with text documents;
  • Slowdowns are extremely rare;
  • Pleasant to the touch plastic.

Flaws

  • The inability to insert a memory card;
  • Non-Russian physical keyboard;
  • Not LTE support;
  • inadequate cost;
  • The simplest 5-megapixel camera;
  • Some buyers find it too weighty.

Simtelep N9 (Android smartphone with keypad)

Best Feature Phones - Review of 2019 Models

A keypad and a smartphone is a very rare occurrence. Smartphone in concept, phone with a complete operating system. And as for modern models, the situation is even worse.

Of course, a sophisticated user will be able to find such models, but the choice is so small that modern models can literally be counted on the fingers. This is more or less the case with older models, but here it is worth realizing that these smartphones appeared at the dawn of the formation of a smartphone as such, when manufacturers had not yet decided to abandon the buttons. Therefore, you should not expect any good characteristics, good performance, or just good screens from them.

Always a push-button smartphone with a large screen, either not a monoblock (slider, clamshell, especially in older models), or a relatively large diagonal, by modern standards of a large screen (from 6 inches). The presence of moving parts introduces additional annoyances: frequent failure of the cable connecting the display and the phone. Who ever had a slider knows, on average, after a year, the train will break. And the presence of buttons already requires space on the front panel of phones such large screens as on the Samsung Galaxy S4, Iphone 6 and other flagships, we will not find.

Modern push-button smartphones

Our first contender BQ Berkeley (BQS-3552) is the only Android smartphone on our market with a QWERTY keyboard.
Peculiarities:

  • The screen diagonal of 3.5 inches is more than any push-button phone (there is a maximum of 2.8), resolution is 480 × 320, with a density of 165 ppi.
  • Dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor, with 512 MB RAM
  • Android 4.2

Conclusion: The screen is rather weak by modern standards. Therefore, a good choice as a dialer, and a worthy alternative to simple phones with buttons.

Another worthy and even more interesting candidate Sonim XP6
Peculiarities:

  • Ruggedized IP 67 housing also complies with US military standard MIL-STD 810G. What this means for the user is that it can withstand a fall from a height of 2 m, a temperature range of -20 to +55, is resistant to immersion in water and various aggressive environments. Dropping is not at all scary, an indestructible phone for active people.
  • Capacious battery 4800 mAh
  • 2.63″ diagonal at 320 x 432 resolution
  • Android 4.4

Conclusion: of course, its main advantage is a fortress, crosses out all its shortcomings in terms of weak hardware stuffing and screen resolution.

Old models

These are the different and exotic models of push-button smartphones that can be found. But there are even more exotic ones at the moment:

Nokia E90

When the top communicator, the ultimate dream at the time, but too specific and expensive. Even now it costs about 3 thousand rubles. Diagonal as much as 4 inches. Works under Symbian. Nokia released several other cheaper smartphones in this form factor: Nokia 9300i and Nokia 9300.

Their characteristics in modern times can only cause bewilderment, since in the same price category you can buy much more worthy smartphones, even without a physical keyboard. I advise you to buy only for lovers of retro phones to touch the history.

As you can see, the choice of smartphones is very small. The sensor is more in line with the concept smart phone, and allows you to fully reveal the very essence of the smartphone, and make just huge screens.

Despite the variety of smartphones on the shelves of our stores, some users need to buy a simple push-button phone. Such models are much more compact, they fit comfortably in the hand, and last up to 10 times longer than their more advanced counterparts. For this reason, the team of the Internet project "Be Mobile" decided to help those who decided to buy a push-button telephone. We have compiled a list of the 15 best models of various price categories.

As soon as it comes to push-button mobile phones, the legendary Nokia phones come to mind: Nokia 3310, Nokia 3110 and many others. Some 5 years ago, a device that plays music from memory cards was considered smart. Times are very different now.

Nevertheless, push-button phones have a number of undoubted advantages over smartphones. First, phones are much work longer from the battery. Secondly, phones much easier to manage, and they hang much less frequently. Thirdly, phones are much cheaper fancy smartphones. They are not so offensive to drop, lose or give little child. Fourth, they more reliable in terms of security (much more viruses are written for smartphones than for phones).

In general, push-button phones are worth buying for the elderly (grandparents), young children, and people who need a second mobile phone.

Well, now the list of the best push-button phones of 2017 according to the Internet project "Be Mobile".

Positioning

A huge number of people dream of push-button phones, but with Android on board, to use such a device as a second one. The expected benefits are obvious - a smaller screen, but synchronization of all data with Google, more battery life and familiar buttons. Unfortunately, manufacturers do not spoil us with such solutions, there are almost none on the market. Therefore, when Elari Safephone appeared, I was very interested in it.

The positioning of this device by the manufacturer is very simple - a phone for the elderly who demand simplicity, but want to stay in touch with loved ones, for this they are offered Whatsapp. On the one hand, the maximum simplification of Android, which is not even visible here, on the other hand, the ability to share photos, start chats with children and loved ones. Such an intermediate solution is no longer a push-button phone, but also not a smartphone. There is definitely a niche for such solutions, but in Russia there is also a strong prejudice against phones for the elderly. The target audience continues to get younger and does not accept their old age as something normal, does not want granny phones, but requires ordinary devices. Then people suffer with them, constantly pulling children and loved ones with questions about how and what they need to press, but there is only one way out, endure it steadfastly. Convincing them that a grandmother phone is the best solution will not work. People to some extent avoid reminders of their age, as if it were some kind of curse and nobody needs them in old age. Which for most is outright stupidity, but that's how people are. All previous attempts to bring grandmother's phones to Russian market turned out to be unsuccessful, the models were not sold in noticeable volumes, but for a small part of consumers they turned out to be very successful, sometimes irreplaceable.

Therefore, before making a gift in the form of a grandmother's phone to your old relatives, ask them how ready they are to use it, this will be the best solution. As a rule, such phones are bought as a gift, older people rarely buy them on their own - so do not confuse the target group and buyers, they are very different. Based on this, such phones have the ability to track their location, as well as the SOS button, with which the user can call for help. Let's understand what Elari Safephone is together.

Design, dimensions, controls

Outwardly, the device resembles a typical babushkofon, huge digital buttons, a small screen. Phone size Size 124.4x63.1x15.3 mm, weight 118 grams - compared to the budget "button" this device is slightly larger, it is not so compact. But this is a plus for the target audience, since it is impossible to lose the phone.

The back cover covers the compartment with the battery and a microSIM slot, there is only one card in the device, there is no slot for memory cards, and they are not needed here. At first glance, the lid adjoins tightly, but the device did not pass our traditional test for torsion of the case - a crunch is heard in the lower part, the lid moves away a little. This is a standard situation for this kind of models, the details fit loosely. When closing the lid, it is best to hold along the edges with force so that all the latches snap into place. In everyday life, the crunch of the lid is not so important, but it speaks volumes about the build quality. The lid is made under the skin, has a characteristic texture. Over time, the plastic will not wear out much, the device will retain its appearance. Chrome-plated edging at the same time does not inspire confidence in its durability.

The lack of side volume keys betrays the low-end nature of the device, without such buttons it is difficult to adjust the volume, adults do not understand how to do it.

At the bottom you see a microUSB connector, there is also a hole for a strap. It is a pity that such a leash is not included in the kit, it costs mere pennies, and the value of the device rises at times. Unfortunately, you should not look for a headset in the kit, and there is a 3.5 mm jack on the case, it is not here. The manufacturer considered that older people do not listen to music, although I am of exactly the opposite opinion.

The front camera has a meager resolution of 0.3 megapixels, in fact it is practically not needed (Skype is not here anyway and it is impossible to install it). The main camera is next to the SOS button, it is recessed into the body and accidental pressing is excluded. Near the LED “flash”, it also plays the role of a flashlight. In my pocket, a flashlight activated by itself, the instructions about how it turns on / off does not say anything, although I read it up and down, this is an omission. By the method of scientific poke, I learned to turn it off by starting the camera, but I did not understand how it is activated by the button.

Display

An ordinary TFT-matrix with very small viewing angles, but large ones are not needed here. Diagonal 2.4 inches, resolution 240x320 pixels, touch screen. For example, unlocking the device occurs by moving across the screen.

The screen brightness is adjustable, it is comfortable and does not raise questions. But there is one “but”, at maximum brightness, battery consumption almost doubles, the device eats up energy, literally, before our eyes. The good news is that if you are not constantly on Whatsapp, then there is no need to turn on the screen on this phone.

The small screen size makes it difficult to use virtual keyboard for typing, only buttons. With predictive input, hint words appear on the screen, you can select them. But the set goes the old fashioned way, to enter the desired letter, you need to press the number key several times. For those who managed to forget how it was, let me remind you - slowly and sadly.

Keyboard

The phone is controlled from the keyboard and you can understand it without instructions. Everything is simple and clear, the buttons are large, they are well pressed, in a word, what you need for the target audience. I did not notice any shortcomings with the keyboard, with the exception of activating the flashlight, there are no minuses.

Battery

Li-Ion 1600 mAh battery, claimed standby time up to 10 days, talk time up to 5 hours. To begin with, the battery charges in about 1.5 hours, which is not bad. But over time, I got a hitch, on average, the device worked for about two days when the application was connected to a third-party smartphone. Without such an application, the operating time increases, as well as when 3G is turned off, but it is pointless to do this, since the meaning of this device is lost. Therefore, it is worth focusing on those same two days, it will not work out more from the device with very moderate use.

Communication options

Everything is very modest, you can connect another device via bluetooth, including wireless headphones(hardly needed by the target audience). There is support for WiFi 802.11 b / g / n, when connected, enter the password and access to the network opens. When accessing public networks, when you need to go through authorization in a pop-up window, this can be done - but data entry is certainly not the easiest from the keyboard, but checkboxes can be marked on the touch screen, if any.

It is also possible to turn off data transfer in the menu, but I'm not sure if this is worth doing, since the phone will remain only for calls.

Hardware platform

The phone has a Mediatek MT6572m chipset, two Cortex A7 cores, up to 1.2 GHz, an ARM Mali-400 graphics accelerator. RAM 512 MB, built-in 4 GB, memory cards are not supported. Theoretically, there are enough hardware capabilities for the eyes for some ancient version of Android (it feels like 4.x, but I don’t presume to say), in fact, there are certain problems and about them below.

The software is an incomprehensible adaptation of Android

For a push-button phone, there is no need to support full-fledged Android, its castrated version is enough, which will support all built-in applications and the same Whatsapp that the manufacturer promises. When you start the device, you see that the main menu is as simple as possible - one icon for the function. The fonts in the menu are large and comfortable.

There is no way to install your own applications, the only updated application is Whatsapp. In the menu you can see the following message - Whatsapp version is outdated, please update the program. If you click on the link you will see Play market, but it is not possible to download anything from it, the phone does not support such a download.

The real Whatsapp update comes out with the firmware update, it happens over the air. The main problem of this apparatus, as well as all modified android versions is that the user cannot update the programs on his own, he needs to wait for the manufacturer to do this. In my case, waiting for the “correct” version took about ten days. That is, those who used the device before, all this time (I don’t know how long it took in reality, two weeks? A month?) Waited for a new firmware. Older people may also not know that they need to install a new firmware in order for the program to work again. They just have everything “broken” and they are trying to explain it over the phone. This is the weakest point of the device, rely on interruption whatsapp job it’s not worth it, all the more it’s not clear how many years the manufacturer will be engaged in firmware for the device and release new versions of Whatsapp adapted to the device.

Now about the huge plus in the form of synchronization of your data with Google. I was lucky when the device downloaded all my contacts, it's very convenient. But the first attempt to find the desired contact by search failed. The phone simply does not have enough performance to search in 500 contacts (this is a problem of specific adaptation of the software to the keyboard). You cannot enter the necessary letters, the device freezes tightly, so that later it will be born with the wrong letters that you needed. You can only scroll through a large list manually, which kills all the charm of having an up-to-date notebook. The video for this review shows this moment, so I advise you to see how it happens.

Another point with the phone book, which is extremely important for the elderly, is the speed dial numbers. Press, for example, a deuce and the phone starts ringing your son, very convenient. Usually, children enter their numbers into the speed dial and explain which buttons are assigned to whom. There is no speed dial as a class, it simply does not exist. I climbed all the menus, but did not find it, the instructions are also silent.

There is an Alarm Clock section in the menu, from its name it is clear what it is responsible for. In the fitness and health section, there is a count of steps and calories, the pedometer sometimes lies godlessly, I somehow showed a “mileage” of 300 kilometers. How this is possible is unclear.

The camera shoots very slowly, and you also need to exit the image view so that it is saved. There is no point in the camera, although if you launch Whatsapp, you can share pictures.
