Stunning display with ProMotion technology

The stunning Retina display on the iPad Pro is impressive. He supports new technology ProMotion, which provides refresh rates up to 120 GHz and guarantees a smoother experience, high speed response and natural graphics reproduction. Thanks to ProMotion, the response speed of the Apple Pencil has also increased: the delay time has become record low - just 20 milliseconds. Now Apple Pencil behaves even more naturally. ProMotion also delivers superior image quality and lower power consumption as the technology automatically adjusts the refresh rate based on how the image moves across the display.

The advanced anti-glare Retina display is the brightest Apple displays created for iPad. It provides excellent image visibility both indoors and outdoors. True Tone technology dynamically adjusts the white balance according to the level of light to make the image look more natural and clear. And the extended color gamut allows you to convey colors, as in digital cinema.

Incredible performance with the A10X Fusion processor

iPad Pro delivers incredible performance, great connectivity, and amazing versatility for your most demanding tasks. The powerful new A10X Fusion processor with 64-bit architecture delivers better performance than many laptops on the market today. It even handles tasks like video games, 3D rendering, photo retouching, and 4K video editing with ease. Compared to the best-in-class A9X processor, the new 6-core processor is up to 30% faster and the 12-core GPU- 40% faster. Plus, you can use the new iPad Pro all day on a single charge.¹

iPad Pro is the perfect tool for capturing, editing and sharing professional-quality photos and videos. iOS 11, coming out this fall, brings new features to iPad.

  • The new customizable Dock lets you open frequently used apps and documents from any screen.
  • Enhanced disambiguation capabilities, including an improved App Switcher with a new iOS function Spaces make it easy to switch between apps, and also allow you to use two active apps at once in Split View and Slide Over modes.

In addition, you can now search for handwritten words or symbols.

Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard

Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard, sold separately, help enhance iPad Pro functionality and precision. Apple Pencil has advanced sensors that measure pressure and tilt, so you can draw, annotate, and take notes as naturally as you would with a regular pencil. Designed specifically for the 10.5-inch iPad Pro, the new full-sized Smart Keyboard is ultra-thin and durable, no need to charge or connect via Bluetooth. And when folded, it becomes a secure Smart Cover.

An overview of the tablets further under the cut with a detailed discussion of the distinguishing features.

Design

After the new ones were introduced with an edge-to-edge screen, Cupertino decided to implement a similar idea on the iPad. Thus, instead of a 10.5-inch iPad, it turned out to be 11-inch due to a thinner bezel around the perimeter. And the 12.9-inch iPad retained its screen size, but slightly decreased in body size, which made it a little lighter (by 25 percent). Both models are the same thickness at 5.9mm, making them the thinnest iPads ever.

As for the display, both models have LCD panels with curved corners, OLED hasn't hit the mark yet. Apple calls them Liquid Retina displays- Exactly the same display on the iPhone Xr. The manufacturer assures us that this is the brightest and most saturated display among the iPad.

Since there is now a very thin bezel around the perimeter, there is no room for the HOME button at all. Accordingly, Touch ID technology is not provided here. And, you guessed it, the new versions of the iPad Pro get the Face ID technology that was introduced in the iPhone X last year. Data protection is now implemented by scanning your face. And it does not matter how you hold the tablet - vertically or horizontally. Face ID works in any position.

A few words about the body. It's not glass. And this will please many, since the glass in the hand is sometimes very uncomfortable due to slipping. The case is aluminum, which means technology wireless charging not implemented. An important detail is the presence of 102 tiny magnets inside the case, which help to match accessories such as the Smart Keyboard and new Apple Pencil.

ON

The new iPad Pros come with the new iOS 12 platform by default. Since the HOME button is gone, there are brutal new controls. A swipe from the bottom will access the App Dock, keep swiping and you'll be taken to the multitasking interface. Swipe from the top right of the screen and you'll get Control Center. Pulling down from the top or middle left top spot will drop down the notification center. Of course, the new iPads have Split View and Slide Over modes, which allow you to work side-by-side with several applications at once.

CPU

Inside the tablets is an updated chip - Apple A12X Bionic (four performance cores and four efficiency cores). As part of a demonstration of its power, Apple showed a working full-scale Adobe version Photoshop optimized for touch. The application will be available to users in 2019. There's also a seven-core GPU that provides twice the graphics performance.

The Lightning port on the bottom of the tablet has now been replaced with USB Type-C. This gives free rein to the use of new accessories. Apple assured that via USB Type-C can connect external monitors and connect to professional equipment, for example, to cameras. Also, using given port, users will be able to charge their iPhone from iPad, transfer data between devices.

Time battery life is about 10 hours.

Memory

There will be several options for users to choose from in terms of internal storage: 64 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. Last option very impressive, but you need to understand that it will cost a pretty penny.

Camera

Almost forgot about the cameras. We usually talk about them more as part of a phone review. But they are also in demand on tablets. So, the two new iPad 2018 received a 12 MP main camera with an aperture of F1.8. Do not rush to conclude that we saw the same thing on the 2017 iPad. New models received Smart HDR mode. TrueDepth front camera with portrait mode, support for Animoji and Memoji on iPad.

Apple Pencil

The iPad stylus has also been updated. But new Apple version Pencil will be compatible exclusively with the iPad Pro 2018. The “pencil” is connected magnetically to the tablet and is also charged. No more wires. If you remember, the old version of the Apple Pencil was charged through the connection to the Lightning port. Since new versions of tablets do not have this port, the old Apple Pencil will not work with the new tablet. It will also be easy and comfortable now to use the keyboard, which will connect magnetically to the tablet.

Price and release date

Pre-orders for the new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 have already started. On November 7, the company begins official sales of new tablets. Prices start at $799 for the 11-inch version and $999 for the 12.9-inch version. The maximum price tag of the smaller brother is $1549, the older one is $1749. Official video

Update: The official launch date for the iPad Pro 2018 is October 30, according to Apple's "Special Event" press invitation. Moreover, there is increasing evidence that new tablet will get a USB-C port and also we got interesting ideas about sizes.

iPad Pro 3 is another major update Apple, and now the company has all but confirmed that we'll see the tablet on October 30th by sending out invitations to an event on that date.

The new iPad Pro is set to showcase thin bezel screens in two sizes, and leaks also suggest it will use the iPhone X's True Depth technology for Face ID.

Of course, at the beginning of the year we saw a new entry level with solutions focused on the educational segment, but if you are looking for a more powerful tablet to replace the current one or, you will get it soon.

Apple intends to make the iPad Pro series a "laptop replacement" for as many users as possible, treating its Pro series tablets as if they were touchscreen MacBooks. With iOS 11 (and now iOS 12) and accompanying tablet-focused software, Apple is getting closer to that vision.

Whether it's the iPad Pro 2018 or the iPad Pro 3, the new tablet will almost certainly remain expensive and still not a laptop replacement for absolutely everyone, no matter how hard Apple tries to convince us.

Will there be a new iPad Pro? It seems like this could be an interesting change of concept. Here are the details we've gathered from all this time of leaks, rumors and speculation. We've also formed the closest guesses as to price, release date, and various specs/features.

In pursuit!

  • What's this? Next flagship tablet iPad;
  • When to expect? Tuesday, October 30, 17:00 (MSK);
  • What is the price? Probably not less than $649 (39,000 rubles);

| iPadPRO 3 (2018): RELEASE DATE AND PRICES

The iPad Pro 3 comes out on October 30th, as Apple has already sent out invitations to a special event under that date.

This is not surprising as we expected the tablet to be released soon, not least because the new iPad Pro has been listed on the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission), indicating that the device is coming soon.

We don't know when the tablets will go on sale yet, but whenever iPad Pro series tablets come out, they are subject to tax. high price. The iPad Pro 10.5 (the latest in the series) started at $649 (R42,000), so we think Apple will stick to similar pricing with the lowest-priced 9.7-inch models in the series.

| iPadPRO 3: DESIGN

  • Tiny panels around the screen;
  • No home button and headphone port;
  • The thinnest tabletApple;

One of the most recent iPad Pro 2018 leaks comes from a source that has provided correct data regarding Apple in the past, and now claims that the upcoming tablet will be just 5.9mm thick, but will lose the headphone port.

Also, we've currently seen a render purporting to showcase a 12.9-inch iPad Pro 3, you can check it out below.

Details include thin bezels and the absence of a home button or fingerprint reader, so Face ID is a must-have. But the bezels in the render are still quite large to eliminate the need for a notch.

We still get the metal back, four speaker grilles and one rear camera, but something has changed - the Smart Connector has moved to lower part(when the tablet is in portrait mode) there doesn't seem to be a 3.5mm headphone jack anymore (which matches the rumors) and there is an unidentified button on the right edge.

The source adds that apparently the iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) will come in at 280.6 x 215 x 5.8mm (or 7.77mm considering the camera bump on the back), making it smaller than the iPad Pro 12.9. (2017). The thickness is also in line with scattered rumors, so we're really counting on a very thin tablet.

We got the same numbers again from another source, who added that the iPad Pro 10.5 (2018) will measure 247.64 x 178.5mm, making the new tablet smaller than its predecessor.

Another render has surfaced, this time showing the iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) in a UAG case, you can see it below.

The details - including thin bezels and the Face ID sensor - match the materials above. However, the fact that the tablet is in a case suggests it may be out soon, as the case maker probably won't release a product or render until the device is ready.

| iPadPRO 3 (2018): DISPLAY

  • 12.9" and 10.5" models;
  • 10.5-inch model can be replaced by 11-inch;

While the range of the iPhone is now highly classified, the 2018 iPad Pro continues to be littered with leaks, with the edge-to-edge screen taking center stage.

Again, it's still possible that Apple will put a notch on the tablet's display, especially since iOS 12 moves part of the status bar to the left, leaving an empty space in the middle.

If Apple goes for an edge-to-edge screen design, the new iPads will be able to increase the display area, or keep the screen sizes to reduce the size of the case. This comes as a surprise to the sometimes bulky iPad Pro 12.9, and based on the information we've heard so far, shrinking the body of the 12.9-inch tablet is exactly what Apple did.

For the smaller 10.5-inch iPad, on the other hand, new design could mean a slight increase in size as we've seen a report claiming it will get an 11-inch display.

However, since Apple has just introduced new size with the 10.5-inch model, we're not sure about further changes. We also expect the iPad Pro 3 to have a True Tone display with a 120Hz refresh rate, just like its predecessor.

| iPadPRO 3: CAMERA AND BATTERY

  • Front-cameraTrueDepth;
  • Better bokeh effect;

We don't expect big changes in the camera department. Apple continues to stick with the combination of 12MP and 7MP on the back and front, respectively, adopting the iPhone 8's sensors, which is a serious overkill for a tablet and should last at least one more year.

However, if the Face ID rumors are true, the tablet will likely get front camera with True Depth, much more like iPhone camera XS. It's still a 7-megapixel sensor, but with additional depth-sensing skills, making it a great solution for portrait mode (blurring the background).

There is no news yet regarding the iPad Pro (2018) battery, but we will be sure to include it in the article as soon as we know something.

| iPadPRO 3: OS AND PERFORMANCE

  • Tablet chipsetA12Bionic;
  • Operating system -iOS 12;

A source in the supply chain claims that the iPad Pro 3 will use new chipset A11X Bionic with 8-core processor. Given that iPhone XS smartphones are now powered by A12 Bionic chipsets, this seems unlikely.

Most likely, the 2018 iPad Pro will use either the A12 Bionic or something newer and better, a chipset that hasn't been announced yet - perhaps the A12X Bionic or the A13.

Of course, the iPad Pro 3 will also roll out iOS 12, which is available now. This will bring gesture control to the tablet, as well as Siri shortcuts, group notifications, improvements to the augmented reality department, and more.

| iPadPRO 3: OTHER FEATURES

  • faceID;
  • Four speakers;
  • USBC;

You probably won't hear Apple officially calling the upcoming tablet "Modern iPad", but that's the name that was found in iOS code 11.3.

"Modern iPad" doesn't sound like much, but the phrase "Modern iPhone" has been used before the release of the iPhone X. The suggestion is that the term may imply unusual innovations such as Face ID and the absence of bezels around the display.

Indeed, the idea that the new 2018 iPad Pro will allow users to unlock the device by simply looking at the tablet without using their hands is a rumor we've heard over and over again.

In fact, the tablet's Face ID setup interface was found in iOS 12 beta for iPad. In the same beta, we also found multi-user support for Face ID, a feature that will be much more useful on a tablet than on a phone.

We've also heard that Face ID on the iPad will use the same image signal processor as the iPhone XS and will work in both portrait and landscape orientations.

The same source claims that the iPad Pro 3 will be able to output 4K HDR to an external display using USB-C port, which is also rumored to be included in the tablet.

In addition, the 2018 iPad Pro is likely to receive a new version of the magnetic connector for connecting accessories such as new Smart Keyboard by Apple.

And a new version of the Apple Pencil is likely to land with the iPad Pro 3.

Other existing features such as four speakers and the Smart Connector (each of which has been found in leaked images) will return again.

| WHAT DO WE WANT TO SEE?

Great, since current iPad Pro models remain very expensive, although they lack some key functions or characteristics of competitors. With that in mind, here's a list of the things we're most looking forward to with the iPad Pro 3.

WATER RESISTANCE

Apple has added water protection to its smartphones, but this option has not yet made its way to the company's tablets and, although it is less needed for tablets that are quite large, to fall into a mug and you will not use them in the rain.

But drinks are still spilling, people continue to use tablets while cooking or in the pool, so knowing that the iPad Pro 3 can survive water would be reassuring, especially considering its price.

PRODUCTIVITY INCREASE

Apple consistently builds capacity iPad performance Pro, but in most cases it still can't match a laptop.

iOS just isn't a versatile enough solution even with , and accessories like the Smart Keyboard tend to be overpriced, which adds up to a mediocre experience. much better for the job.

What's more, lowering the price of accessories could help the tablet, along with further changes to iOS, which should be brought closer to the desktop. operating system. Complete software able to offer desktop quality like with Photoshop would also help. To some extent, this is beyond the power of Apple, but the company can make a deal with developers or simply make the platform more attractive to them.

PRICE DROP?

The iPad Pro is an expensive tablet, no matter what size you choose. Considering the amount of tech packed in, the value for money isn't the worst, but it can be hard to justify the cost, especially when there are cheaper tablets out there, considering it's not complete replacement laptop.

As such, we'd like to see a price drop with the new iPad Pro 3, or at least (and most likely) previous prices, along with increased storage and new features.

SHARP OLED DISPLAY

The 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 has a screen with a pixel density of 265 ppi, which is quite good, while the overall screen quality is good.

But screens are sharper on tablets, laptops, and phones, so we'd like Apple to up the resolution, especially as the iPad is shaping up to be a prime candidate for 4K content.

And along with the new resolution, we would like to see a new display technology, namely OLED. Apple has already used OLED panels for the iPhone X, so it's possible the iPad Pro 3 could benefit.

FACE SCAN

Apple debuted Face ID on the iPhone X, allowing you to simply look at the phone to unlock it. This means that there is no longer a home button, hence the possibility for the screen to grow in the same body size. All this useful features, which we would like to see with the iPad Pro 3.

BEST LIFE

iPad Pro 2 tablets don't suffer from poor battery life as long as you use it primarily as a media device, but if you plan on using it as a laptop, expect anything more than 6-7 hours is overkill.

It's still not bad, but an extra two hours would really help, so whether it's big battery or more efficient components and software, we would like Apple to add battery life iPad work pro 3.

NEW DESIGN

The iPad Pro is thin, light and stylish, but it looks more like an Apple tablet recent years, which is why we'd like a complete overhaul of the iPad Pro 3. Something new and exciting that might entice those who use older models and crave an upgrade.

It could be a glass back, a huge screen, no bezels, or anything new. But if there's one thing that Apple is great at, it's design, we believe it all depends on the task at hand.

The main trump card of the new model is a relatively affordable price. In Russia iPad Retina 2017 will cost from 24,890 rubles for a model with 32 gigabytes of memory and a Wi-Fi module. The upper price bar of 41,890 rubles is set for a model with a cellular module and 128 gigabytes of memory.

The nearest alternative among the 9.7-inch iPad Pro will cost almost 45 thousand (32 GB, Wi-Fi). iPad Model mini 4 with a cellular module and 128 gigabytes of memory will cost 2 thousand rubles less than the iPad Retina 2017 with the same characteristics, but when choosing a compact tablet, the user will receive a less powerful processor and a smaller screen.

Of course, for the sake of such an attractive price, the tablet lost a number of technologies used in the iPad Pro. However, it is possible that such a device - quite powerful, but simplified in terms of details - will take root as a tablet for the workplace or family use. Just like the iPhone SE, the new iPad Retina 2017 combines the components and features of different generations of the tablet - let's figure out how.

Apple tablet iPad 32GB Wi-Fi Space Gray (MP2F2RU/A)

big tablet Apple is waiting for an update.

Update: The 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 could be entering production, which could mean we won't see it until April. Read on for everything we know about the new iPad Pro 2.

Apple launched its most in September last year. came with a huge 12.9-inch screen, support for the Apple Pencil stylus, as well as with powerful processor, it was a significant change in the iPad series.

We gave the tablet a 9 in our full review, praising the tablet for its impressive front-facing speakers and large display, among other features.

In fact, we've heard talk about exactly how the Apple Pencil will change with new version tablet, they say it will get a magnet so you can attach the stylus to the tablet.

Also, you might look at the iPhone 7 for other possible features, including a pressure-sensitive home button that can vibrate instead of a physical click, as well as do different things depending on how hard you press the button. .
