TFT IPS- High-quality liquid crystal matrix. It has wide viewing angles, one of the best indicators of color reproduction quality and contrast among all those used in the production of displays for portable equipment.
Super AMOLED- if a conventional AMOLED screen uses several layers, between which there is an air gap, then in Super AMOLED there is only one such touch layer without air gaps. This allows you to achieve greater screen brightness with the same power consumption.
Super AMOLED HD- differs from Super AMOLED in a higher resolution, thanks to which it is possible to achieve 1280x720 pixels on a mobile phone screen.
Super AMOLED plus- this is a new generation of Super AMOLED displays, differs from the previous one by using more sub-pixels in a conventional RGB matrix. The new displays are 18% thinner and 18% brighter than the older PenTile displays.
AMOLED- an improved version of OLED technology. The main advantages of the technology are significantly reduced power consumption, the ability to display a large color scheme, smaller thickness and the ability of the display to bend a little, without the risk of breaking.
retina- display with a high pixel density, designed specifically for Apple technology. Pixel density per Retina displays is such that individual pixels are indistinguishable to the eye at a normal distance from the screen. This provides the highest image detail and greatly improves the overall viewing experience.
Super Retina HD- The display is made using OLED technology. The pixel density is 458 PPI, the contrast ratio reaches 1,000,000:1. The display has an extended color gamut and unrivaled color accuracy. Pixels in the corners of the display are anti-aliased at the sub-pixel level, so borders don't distort and look smooth. Super Retina HD reinforcement layer is 50% thicker. Breaking the screen will be harder.
Super LCD is the next generation of LCD technology and features improved features compared to earlier LCD displays. Screens have not only wide viewing angles and better color reproduction, but also reduced power consumption.
TFT- A common type of liquid crystal displays. With the help of an active matrix, controlled by thin-film transistors, it is possible to significantly increase the speed of the display, as well as the contrast and clarity of the image.
OLED- organic electroluminescent display. Consists of a special thin-film polymer that emits light under the influence of an electric field. This type of display has a large margin of brightness and consumes very little power.

How much can you, Huawei? Anyone who follows the activity of the company can ask such a question - after all, in the last month alone we have been shown five new smartphones (, and a series). And next in line is Huawei Y6 (2018) - it is more budgetary than other new products, but no less interesting in details.

The novelty is offered in blue, black and gold colors.

The look is simple and a little boring. On the rear panel there is a single camera with a flash and a logo (there is no fingerprint scanner). On the front is a 5.7-inch HD+ display with almost no bezels and small top and bottom stripes. There is a frontal camera with a face unlock function at the top.

The cameras are not amazing, but they are equipped with classic Huawei functionality. For example, the 5-megapixel front camera supports AR processing of the future selfie with backgrounds and masks, as well as the creation of studio lighting effects. The rear sensor received a resolution of 13 megapixels. From other stuffing: chip entry level Snapdragon 450, 3000 mAh battery, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of expandable storage space.

Curious in the smartphone multimedia, especially sound capabilities. The external speaker of Huawei Y6 (2018) is capable of playing music at 88 dB, which is quite good - as the manufacturers themselves say, the tracks sound high quality, but almost 80% louder than on previous devices. They also introduced their own Huawei Histen technology, which allows you to simulate the sound of a recording in different environments, for example, in a theater or at a concert. And one more feature is synchronization with other similar smartphones for simultaneous listening to the same songs from different devices.

Removable

Huawei, as usual, in its repertoire: "re-released" the existing model, calling it differently, and introduced the device to the international market. Huawei Enjoy 5, Honor Holly 2 Plus, Honor 5X Play, Honor 4C Pro are the same smartphone. Only now it is called Huawei Y6 Pro. Announced in 2015, but still sold to this day.

Y6 Pro is a budget model, but interesting due to its solid battery capacity and a decent amount of RAM. Minimum price, which was found in online stores - $ 135. Well-known and promoted stores sell goods a little more expensive - for 155 USD. Prices shown are approximate and valid at the time of writing this review.

The smartphone received a good filling, as for a budget device.

Design, buttons and connectors

There are no surprises in terms of design: a typical plastic rectangle with rounded corners. With a thickness of 9.7 mm and a weight of 160 g, the case owes a capacious battery. The height of the product is 143.1 mm, the width is 71.8 mm.

The sloping back panel is covered with a diagonal pattern that you can feel with your fingers.

Not far from the front and speaker grille is an event indicator light. Most of the elements on the case received a classic, familiar arrangement.

The power/volume buttons are on the edge on the right, the multimedia speaker and MicroUSB are on the bottom.

3.5mm audio jack on top.
But the navigation buttons are programmatically placed on the display. The model is available in three colors: gold, white and gray.

CPU

Since this model focuses on autonomy, an economical 64-bit Mediatek processor MT6735P with the Mali-T720 video chip, as the information says on the official website and most reviewers. But by setting CPU-Z application it became clear that the smartphone has a different chipset, namely MT6582 with Mali-400 MP video chip. And this is a weaker chipset. The difference in Antutu test is 10,000 points: MT6735P scores 35,000; MT6582 - 25,000 points. Why is this happening?

But the thing is that in addition to different names in different regions, a smartphone called Huawei Y6 Pro is also listed on the official website as a smartphone with a more powerful chipset than it actually is. There are many build numbers, the main ones are:

  • HUAWEI Y6 Pro TIT-U02 - MediaTek MT6582 + Mali-400MP2
  • TIT-AL00 (Enjoy 5 and other models) - MT6735P + Mali-T720
  • TIT-L01 (Honor 4C Pro) - MT6735P + Mali-T720

In Ukraine, the HUAWEI Y6 Pro TIT-U02 model is on sale, it is without LTE and with a weaker chipset.

When purchasing, go to Settings > About phone > Build number, and make sure which device you are purchasing. Due to incorrect information on the official website, confusion may occur in Ukraine that a device with a MT6735P + Mali-T720 chipset is being sold, but in fact a weaker chip.

Because of this, many bloggers wrote incorrect information about the smartphone, which is sold in Ukraine. Hello, how do you hear?

Someone complains that resource-intensive games lag and freeze. It's just not always necessary to rely on standard optimization for a specific hardware. In modern games, it is possible to independently set the appropriate settings. As a rule, with such iron you need to focus on medium and low parameters.

Memory

The smartphone has 2 GB of RAM. An excellent indicator, as for a budget model. For an unpretentious user, this is enough for the eyes to run several applications at the same time.

Built-in memory - 16 GB. We take away what the system takes, and we get 10.55 GB free space. There you can load applications, some games, and there will still be a place. And if not, it’s not scary, it comes to the rescue removable storage. In the settings, you can select it as the main place to install applications. Maximum size supported flash drive - 128 GB, it has a separate slot.

Offline work

As mentioned earlier, the main feature of this device can be considered a high battery capacity: 4000 mAh. In mixed usage scenarios, excellent battery life is demonstrated. If you thoroughly take up the smartphone, turn on wireless transmission data, and torment him with the Internet, calls, watching videos, shooting on the camera - he will easily withstand the day in the mode of extreme loads.

With more moderate use, the battery usually lasts for two days. If turn off wireless networks, and run FullHD video at full brightness, it will play continuously for up to 10 hours. And it takes 2 hours to fully recharge.

Like other devices from this manufacturer, there is an advanced power consumption setting mode. It allows you to keep control over the charge consumption. Up to limiting functionality for the sake of additional hours battery life. You can also charge other mobile devices by connecting to the MicroUSB connector.

Camera

The main camera allows you to take pictures with a resolution of 13 MP. The aperture value is f/2.0. There is autofocus, fast working during the day, and a medium-brightness LED flash. The camera application is quite functional, while being accessible in development. You can change exposure values and adjust focus on the fly. It is possible to adjust the white balance, contrast, ISO, saturation, sharpness.

In ideal lighting conditions, the automation correctly selects the white balance. The resulting images have good contrast and good color reproduction. The overall level of detail is normal, and at close range - even good.

If you look closely at daytime photos, you can see the graininess and noise. However, we will make a discount on the budget of the device.

When creating panoramas, the frames stick together well, the “seams” are imperceptible. With subject shooting, the smartphone copes best, you can achieve beautiful effect bokeh (see box above). Indoors, under artificial lighting, detail is reduced, but the camera is doing well.

In room

Another indoor shot:

Even at night, you can get a more or less acceptable frame quality.

Unexpectedly: the stock camera allows you to record videos in a maximum of HD (1280 x 720) resolution. The quality is also dull: there is not enough color saturation and picture clarity. The 5 MP front module is wide-angle (84 degrees), so not only the face of the smartphone owner is placed in the frame. The quality of the resulting photos is quite acceptable.

Taking a picture with a selfie camera

Video recording is possible in HD resolution.

Display

Diagonal 5 inches, resolution 1280 x 720, IPS matrix. The pixel density is 293 dpi. For a budget employee - a classic of the genre. Image quality is expectedly good, both in terms of contrast and color reproduction. Tilt the device to different sides, the user will not notice a strong fading of the image, or inversion of colors on the screen. The minimum brightness level is quite comfortable for using the device in complete darkness.

When exposed to direct sunlight, alas, the margin of brightness is not enough, and the contents of the screen fade. Whoever lacks image saturation, or vice versa, prefers calmer tones, the ability to adjust the color temperature will come in handy. The touchscreen is able to recognize up to 5 simultaneous clicks.

There is also an unpleasant moment (it does not appear for everyone), sometimes the touchscreen has some misunderstandings with the sensitivity to pressing. Therefore, you have to either “poke” into it several times, or press harder than usual. Usually, in order to correct the situation, you need to find the section “ Special abilities". There will be an item "Sensitive mode", and you need to activate it. However, no such problems were noticed in our smartphone.

Networking

Under the back cover there are slots for 2 micro-SIM cards. The smartphone is designed to work in 2G/3G networks. WiFi single band - 2.4 GHz. Bluetooth version- 4.0. All communications work flawlessly.

Responsible for navigation and geopositioning: GPS, GLONASS, A-GPS. Processors from MediaTek have not earned the best reputation due to known problems with navigation. However, Huawei Y6 Pro surprises with the excellent performance of GPS and GLONASS. It “clings” to satellites very quickly, a cold start in just 15 seconds. With a hot start, all navigation systems are ready for operation in less than 10 seconds.

Sound

The main speaker is average in volume, normal in sound quality. Comparable to many other budget models. The speaker is normal, does not "shout", but is not quiet either. The volume margin when listening to music on headphones is not the most impressive. If the environment is noisy, you have to raise the volume level to the maximum value. Enthusiasts have found a solution to this problem by making changes to the engineering menu.

Software part

As operating system using Android 5.1. The shell is EMUI 3.1 Lite, outwardly radically different from the stock Android interface. The light version of the shell is simple without additional chips. Only the most important and useful proprietary applications remain. Full version EMUI is usually installed on smartphones that are more expensive and more powerful.

There is information from the manufacturer's support service that work is underway to update the firmware to Android 6. Naturally, no one names specific dates.

Additional features

  • Smartphone can be turned into power bank by selecting the appropriate option in the settings section.
  • In emergency situations, you can discreetly activate video recording, even when the screen is locked. To do this, it is enough to make a predetermined number of clicks on the volume button.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • good autonomy;
  • excellent work of navigation modules;
  • good photo opportunities;
  • separate slots for SIM and MicroSD.

Minuses:

  • low resolution and quality of the recorded video;
  • problems with the sensitivity of the wheelbarrow;
  • non-removable battery in a plastic case.

Who is a smartphone for?

For those who are looking for an inexpensive dual SIM 3G/4G device with a decent battery, a decent camera, and fast and stable navigation.

Our review of the Huawei Y6 Pro smartphone

On the one hand, in its price category The smartphone is not bad in most respects, and has quite significant advantages. On the other hand, the nuances described in the review with the resolution of videos and a buggy sensor are perceived as nonsense. Such ridiculous and obvious mistakes should not be allowed, despite the fact that it budget model. However, there are owners of Huawei Y6 Pro who do not care about the quality of video recording, and they solved the problem with the screen by increasing its sensitivity to touch.

Huawei's line of low-cost Y smartphones continues to be replenished with devices targeted at different budgets. Some time ago, we looked at the younger representative of the series in the face and the older brother . And it is logical that between them there should be another smartphone, the so-called middling. And he is. Today we get acquainted with.

Contents of delivery

Here everything is unchanged and exactly the same as in and. A white cardboard box containing a power adapter (5V/1A), a USB/MicroUSB cable, and a key to remove the SIM and memory card slots.

Design, materials and assembly

The smartphone is sold in three possible body colors: black, gold and blue. My sample is in blue.

The design of the device as a whole, repeats that of its counterparts. On the front is an elongated display covered with 2.5D glass with large bezels on the sides and small but asymmetrical bezels at the top and bottom.

The back is made of matte plastic, but such a beautiful iridescent effect, as it is in blue, was not brought here.

But the frame around the perimeter is just as glossy. It is also plastic, by the way.

Plastic good quality, although even in blue it is a little easily soiled.

On the back, near the main camera block, in the place where the microphone is located, you can observe a slight bulge. Tactilely, it is practically not felt and it is quite possible that this feature exclusively test sample.

The smartphone has a great build. There are no creaks or backlashes. A protective film was glued on the glass from the box, but the oleophobic coating was not applied to it.

Layout of elements

In front above the screen are a tiny event indicator, a window with light and proximity sensors, a peephole front camera, earpiece and flash.

Below the screen is the same inscription Huawei.

On the edge to the rightpower/unlock button and volume key.

On the left is a slot for two nano SIM cards and a microSD memory. Full-fledged - not a hybrid!

On the bottom edge is a microUSB port off-center and six cutouts to the left and right of it. Behind them are the microphone and the main speaker, respectively.

On top is the classic 3.5mm headphone jack.

On the back of the case on the left upper corner there is a slightly protruding block with the main camera, an inscription with the characteristics of the cameras to the left of it, and a flash to the right. The glass that covers the camera and flash is slightly recessed into the frame. Next to the block is an additional microphone.

A little lower is the round platform of the fingerprint scanner.

Even lower - the manufacturer's logo and other service information.

Ergonomics

Using a smartphone is convenient. It has small dimensions - weight 150 grams, diagonal - 5.7″, plus everything - rounded edges and corners.

In general, its dimensions are something between and. And if the latter was not very convenient to use with one hand, then Huawei Y6 Prime 2018 is quite comfortable.

The control buttons and the fingerprint scanner are in the usual places.

Display Huawei Y6 Prime 2018

The smartphone received a 5.7-inch IPS display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 1440×720 pixels (HD+).

The low resolution is hard to see unless you look closely at the screen.

The colors are close to natural, the contrast is good. The brightness of the display is sufficient for outdoor use, but without much enthusiasm. Auto-brightness generally works well, but not perfect - sometimes you want to make the display a little brighter.

Viewing angles are good for inexpensive smartphone, but with strong diagonal deviations, a decrease and increase in contrast are noticeable. With linear, this is not observed. In principle, the screen is normal.

In the screen settings, as usual, you can correct the color temperature of the screen and activate the eye protection mode. There is a function to automatically reduce the screen resolution to save power consumption. But I don't see much benefit in it.

Performance

The smartphone has an old and inefficient Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 425. It consists of four Cortex-A53 cores and runs at a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz. The used graphics accelerator is Adreno 308.

In synthetic tests, it, quite expectedly, shows modest results.

In practice, the device copes well with everyday tasks. If a large number of applications are running, then the animation of opening / minimizing applications slows down slightly. Yes, and the programs are also not very fast. But if there are few applications in the background, there are no problems. You can’t play heavy games on a smartphone, but simple time-killers work well.

In general, the speed of the smartphone can be called normal, as for this class of devices.

The amount of installed RAM is 3 GB, and the permanent one is 32 GB. Of these 32 GB of storage, 24.79 GB is available to the user. The memory can be expanded by installing a microSD card up to 256 GB without having to sacrifice a second SIM card.

Cameras Huawei Y6 Prime 2018

The main camera module of the smartphone received a resolution of 13 megapixels and f / 2.2 aperture.

There is nothing new in the issue of the quality of the resulting images. With enough light, photos are obtained with normal detail and color reproduction, autofocus is fast. With a weak one, colors and details are noticeably lost. The dynamic range is average and HDR activation does not help much.

With video, too, everything is very average. The maximum resolution of the videos is Full HD (1920 × 1080), there is no electronic stabilization.

The front camera has a resolution 8 MP (f/2.0). It shoots well in general, but you should not expect anything special from it.

The camera application is typical for the manufacturer's smartphones. Swipe to the right of the shooting screen to see the available shooting modes, and swipe to the left to see advanced camera settings.

In the modes, I found the “Focus” function (which, by the way, was not in), which theoretically allows you to change the focus point after the picture has been taken.

Usually, we have seen this feature in smartphones with a dual main camera, and I wondered how it happens in Huawei Y6 Prime 2018, where there is only one main camera module. But in practice - the focus point does not change at all. So what's the point of adding it? Maybe with a firmware update something will change, but so far it does not work.

Unlock Methods

Huawei Y6 Prime 2018 can be unlocked by two methods - fingerprint scanner and face recognition. Just in case, let me remind you once again - there is no fingerprint scanner in the Huawei Y6 2018 smartphone (that is, without the Prime prefix).

The scanner works in a manner familiar to Huawei - very fast and accurate.

As always, they can also perform various actions: control the camera release, answer a call, turn off the alarm, open the notification panel and scroll through the photos in the gallery by swiping across the scanner area.

As for unlocking by face recognition, here it works a little ... not that worse, but slower than in the same one. But even so, it can easily be used.

The setup process is traditionally fast. Only one face is added.

There are two methods for the unlocking process to choose from: activate the screen and, after identifying the face, swipe across the screen, or immediately get to the desktop or to an open application. The function of smart notifications has also remained, where the contents of the notification on the lock screen will be hidden, and will be displayed in full only if the smartphone recognizes the owner.

autonomy

The smartphone has a 3000 mAh battery. In general, Huawei Y6 Prime 2018 lives approximately the same as the brothers mentioned more than once.

When using a predominantly 4G connection, the active screen time indicator was just over 4.5 hours. And with a constant Wi-Fi connection, the screen was active for more than 6 hours, which is quite good for 3000 mAh.

In other words, the battery will last for a day of active work, with a more gentle mode of operation, you can count on a day and a half. Although it all depends, of course, on the usage scenario of a particular user.

Sound and communications

In Huawei Y6 Prime 2018, the sound component was approached with special attention. At least according to .

In fact, we have the following. To conversational dynamics there are no questions at all, the interlocutor is heard well. The sound from the main speaker, as stated, is very loud and surprisingly clear.

The sound is good in headphones. There is an equalizer and other audio effects.
