AT last years The Internet surrounds us everywhere: at work, while studying, at home and on vacation. This means that it is necessary to provide free and constant access to the global network for all computers and devices. The solution to this problem can be entrusted to modern routers. Installation of this equipment does not take much time, and a well-thought-out technical setup allows even a beginner to cope with this task.

Upvel series routers receive Internet connection via cable from the provider and distribute it over the local Wi-Fi network. They have a fairly acceptable data transfer rate and most of them have, in addition to the main WiFi networks, a couple more additional - "guest". The Upvel router has the function of adjusting the intensity of streams, when some of them can be limited or turned off.

If you are the owner of the site, then of course, you just need to set up high-quality and reliable access to the Internet. By the way, let's say that fast website hosting can be done using HandyHost services. So, you have opted for Upvel routers, chosen and purchased suitable model. Now you need to figure out the connection and settings.

First step: connection

You will need a patch cord cable (included in the purchase package), a router and a computer (laptop). Your actions:

  • Remove the provider cable from the computer, and insert the patch cord in its place;
  • On the back of the router there is a socket into which the second end of this cable is inserted;
  • We connect the provider cable and the power supply wire to the router;
  • We turn on the router.

The whole system will look something like this:

Second stage: setup

Manual configuration of the router is done in the web interface.

AT address bar browser, enter the IP address. This combination is the same for the whole: 192.168.10.1.
In the window that opens, fill in the fields:

  • Username: admin;
  • Password: admin

If you have previously made settings and entered data, then you need to restart the router. To do this, there is a small "Reset" button on the back panel. Press it and hold for a few seconds. After resetting to factory settings - continue to work.

When changing the password, you need to do the following: open the "Service" tab and the "Password" line. Here we prescribe New Password, and in the line "Name" - login. Click the "Apply" button.
It looks like this:

Now go to the "Basic Settings" tab and enter the parameters:

  • "SSID" - the name of your Wi-Fi network (you can leave it as it is, or you can enter an invented name).
  • The bottom line "Protection" item "Authentication" set WPA2-PSK and fill in the line "Key" - this will be your password for the local Wi-Fi network. The password combination is recommended from 8-12 characters. To make it easier to remember, you can enter serial number device (it is indicated on the packaging of the router S / N ......)
  • Press the button "Apply"

Open the "Basic Settings" tab and select "Interface" from the list

The next window prompts us to select the WAN interface settings. Depending on what type of connection you have with your provider, check the required option.

1. Consider PPPoE connections:

  • The line "Internet connection type" - PPPoE
  • The line "Username" - write down the login that is specified in your agreement with the provider (it was compiled when the access point was connected to the Internet);
  • The line "Password" - the password, also according to the contract;
  • String "MTU" - 1472
  • Line "Clone MAC address" - check "Learn MAC address".
  • Write it down and save it with the "Apply Changes" button.

2. If the connection type is DHCP:

  • The line "Internet connection type" - DHCP.
  • Line "Clone MAC address" - select "Learn MAC address" and also select the MAC address of your computer.
  • Apply button

Save your settings so that you can restore them in case of emergency. To do this, open the "Service" tab and go down to the "Save / load settings" item.

Click the "Save settings" button and your data will be saved in the specified location on your hard drive. The "Restore settings" button available in this window assumes the restoration of not yours, but the factory settings! And in order to restore your settings, you will need to go to the "Browse" folder, find the saved file and press the "Load Settings" button. Check out the picture:

Third step: turn on WiFi

The data transfer rate of the Upvel router is 150 Mbps, it is powered by external antenna, in the 2.4 GHz band. We need to set up a wireless network to connect laptops, tablets and other mobile devices to the Internet.
We continue to work in the Upvel web interface. Go to the "Network" tab. The first line in it is "Basic Settings". Enter the basic network settings:

  • The line "Wi-Fi module" - mark "On";
  • Line "Mode" - select AP;
  • The line "SSID" - we come up with a name for your network and write it down (in Latin letters);
  • Line "Frequency channel" - you can select all modes "B + G + N"; (as in the picture) or leave only "B + G";
  • Line "Bandwidth" - leave "Auto";
  • The line "Broadcast" - it is recommended to leave it "On", since not all devices can "see" the hidden network and connect;
  • The line "WMM" - for better speed, leave "On."

  • The line "Protection" - "Encryption" - select the protection options and enter your password for wireless network. Later, the same password will be written in each device that will connect to your local Wi-Fi network.
  • Don't forget to click the "Apply Changes" button.

All your new Upvel router is connected and configured. Now check the connection in laptops and other gadgets, enter your password and access the Internet at any time!

In order to get into the web interface of the router, you need to open your Internet browser and type 192. 168.10.1 in the address bar, Username - admin, Passwordadmin(provided that the router has factory settings and its IP has not changed).

Today, more and more ordinary users are trying to independently work with the configuration of various equipment. This is facilitated by countless useful information presented in the global network. In addition, the developers are trying to make it as easy as possible to work with their brainchildren.

upvel- Chinese manufacturer of network equipment disappeared behind its more popular counterparts. However, this does not mean that he does not bestow the proper quality. We can say that this is one of the most attractive options from the budget segment. Next, we will consider how to configure this device.

Connection and preparation for work

Before setting up the Upvel ur 315bn wifi router, you will need to perform a few simple procedures. First of all, you will need to take the device out of the box.

Its functionality includes:

  • support for Wi-Fi in the standard range (802.11);
  • the ability to play Internet TV;
  • 4 WAN ports with maximum speed transfers up to 100 Mb/s. In fairness, it should be noted that today most providers offer rates that do not exceed this value. Therefore, do not worry about this limitation;
  • antenna 2 dBi;
  • a wireless network module that is capable of operating in Repeater mode.

In a word, a very average device, but it has at least one plus - low price. In comparison with its direct competitor (Dir-615), it is cheaper by 350-450 rubles, which is very important in our time.

  • take out the power supply and plug it into the socket;
  • plug from the PSU into the router;
  • insert the cable from the provider into the LAN connector. It is easy to find - it is presented in single copy and highlighted in color (usually yellow);
  • then we take out the so-called patch cord from the box and insert one end of it into the network card connector of your PC (or laptop), and the second into any of the available WAN ports;
  • after a while, an active connection should appear on your computer.

Please note: if it does not appear, then you need to check the driver of your network card. For this you can use special programs who independently find and install the driver latest version for the specified device.

There are several types and different colors, you can learn more about this by clicking on the link provided.

Login to settings

Have you dealt with network card and connected your equipment to the computer. It remains only to open the main interface. This software allows you to easily work with the equipment even for completely inexperienced users.

We do the following:

  • open any installed browser and in its address bar (where the site name is usually written) we enter 192.168.10.1;
  • a login window will appear. Login and password - set admin;
  • A window will pop up with a choice of language.

As a result of these actions, the main menu will appear, through which you can easily manage the entire configuration of your router.

Internet connections

Now let's look at how to set parameters for the Internet, depending on the protocol. It just depends on what provider you have. Consider the two most popular options.

Video: configure the Upvel UR 315 BN router

PPPoE for Rostelecom

PPPoE is the most popular protocol today. This is due to the high security and reliability of such a connection. Rostelecom, like many other providers, prefers it.

Let's see how to set the configuration for working with this protocol:

L2TP for Beeline

This protocol is used not only by this one, but also by some other operators (for example, Kyivstar). Let's figure out how to configure the configuration for Beeline:

  • go to the main interface. On the left side of the screen, select the "basic settings" icon;
  • as a result, a list will open in which you need to select "WAN Interface";
  • in the connection type field, select L2TP;
  • get ip set in dynamic mode;
  • then we get the contract and find the server address (it depends on your place of residence). These numbers are entered in the "Server Address" item;
  • then enter user data (login and password). We also find them in your contract;

Tip: if you could not find your contract, you can call the operator, giving your passport details (of course, if the connection is registered for you).

  • now we turn our attention to the item "manually setting DNS". We remove the checkmark opposite it;
  • set the MTU value to 1460;
  • Below you can find seven different items with and without checkmarks. We do everything as shown in the picture below.

That's all. At the end, it remains only to select the option to save the settings for them to take effect.

LAN

This seemingly simple Chinese router allows you to create a high-speed local LAN network. It allows you to connect several computers at once for sharing files and operating system. Such a network is created as simply as possible:

  • in the main menu, select the item "local network";
  • in the list that appears, select the settings item.

You will see a list of parameters that you need to set exactly the same as in the picture below.

Please note: the “multicast route” item is enabled only if you are using an IPTV set-top box.

WiFi network

Undoubtedly, the main purpose of routers is the distribution of a wireless Wi-Fi network. So here's how to organize it:

It remains to click on the save changes icon. After about 10-15 seconds, a new connection will appear. If this does not happen, check the integrity of the cable, the health of the network card and its driver (perhaps it is outdated).

IPTV

Now let's look at how to implement the view capability interactive television. We do the following:

  • connect the set-top box to the LAN port of your router (preferably to the far right);
  • open the main interface and go to the "basic settings";
  • Next, open the WAN interface. In it, you will need to check the box next to the item "Enable IGMP Proxy";
  • then open the advanced VLAN settings section. A list of available ports will open, select the one into which the prefix was inserted (in our case, the fourth). It will be signed with the number 3, since in the field of programming, calculus starts from zero;
  • select the bridge mode;
  • set the type to “no tag”.

Note! If your interactive television provider delivers traffic through Vlan, then you need to do the following: tags - WAN; VID - enter idVLAN (you can find it out by calling technical support). Also, in some cases, it may be necessary to disable other LAN ports.

Reset router

Sometimes inexperienced users can set the configuration incorrectly. As a result, the equipment stops working altogether. This situation is completely harmless and there are two ways to reset the erroneous configuration:

Updating the firmware

Particularly advanced users sometimes decide to update the firmware. This measure allows you to improve the functionality of the device and get rid of some errors and bugs.

It is produced as follows:

Important! For 4G to work, some operators require flashing.

To avoid problems, perform a configuration reset (using any of the above methods).

As you can see, working with network equipment is not such a complicated process. The main thing to remember is that the price of a mistake is high. Therefore, try to set all the parameters as carefully as possible. However, you can always reset the configuration to factory defaults.

Model home router, considered here, is a typical "100-megabit" combine that receives Internet via an external cable and distributes it to a Wi-Fi network. The access point itself (wireless network) is also not something original: one antenna, one 2.4 GHz channel. The speed of the Wi-Fi network here is limited to 150 Mb / s, that is, the modern “802.11-n” protocol is used, but in the “1x” mode. There are many similar models on the market, but the setup of the Upvel UR 315bn router really pleases with its thoughtfulness. Let's consider in more detail.

First of all, let's consider what exactly the Upvel UR 315bn router can do. Establish a connection with the provider (except for the PTTP connection with MPPE) - yes, it can. “Distributing” a Wi-Fi network in the 2.4 GHz band is the same, although the speeds are not the most ideal (one might say: acceptable). Also, the Upvel router creates not one, but up to three Wi-Fi networks, that is, two “guest” ones. For a guest network, you can restrict " throughput”, and, if necessary, just turn it off.

Connection

Configuring the Upvel router is done through the web interface. To enter it, you need to connect the computer's network card to any of the ports "1" - "4" of the router itself. To do this, use the power cord from the kit.

The network card of the PC must be configured in the "automatic" DNS and IP mode. Check this on the connection properties tab (right click -> "Status", "Properties" button, "TCP/IP protocol", its "Properties"). It should be like in the picture:

After turning on the router (and checking the network card settings), the computer must be restarted.

Note: if the router settings have already been changed, you need to reset them to "factory" (for which, on the switched on device, you press and hold the "RST / WPS" button for 10 seconds). And also, how to connect the Upvel router is discussed in detail in the instructions.

Go to the graphical web interface

If the connections are made and the router is reset to "factory" settings, open any browser. In the address bar, you type: 192.168.10.1. And, press "Enter".

Login and password, stitched in the router "by default": admin and admin.

Dial, click "OK". On the first page of the web interface, the status of the router is displayed:

Now we will look at how to configure the Upvel router to connect to the Internet.

Creating a Connection (DHCP Provider)

In the web interface, go to the "Basic Settings" -> "WAN Interface" tab:

Set connection type: DHCP. The rest of the settings can be left as is. The bottom block (containing various options: "uPnP", and so on) - will not affect the properties of the connection.

The only thing: you can immediately clone MAC address. Which is only done when needed. Check the "Clone MAC" checkbox, the "Copy MAC" button will appear. After clicking "Copy MAC", the WAN port of the router receives a hardware address, the same as that of the network card of the computer (from which the UR 315bn router is configured). But, we repeat that it is necessary to “change” the hardware address if necessary (it may be easier to warn the provider about the new MAC address).

After completing these settings, click Apply Changes. After 10-12 seconds, the connection will be created.

Creating a connection (PPPoE provider)

On the "Basic Settings" -> "WAN Interface" tab, select the connection type - "PPPoE":

AT PPPoE settings, you specify two parameters: username, user password (as in the contract). Additionally, you can clone the hardware address (MAC address), which completely repeats this item in the "under DHCP" configuration mode.

After completing all the settings, click "Apply Changes". The connection will be created in 20 seconds.

As you can see, you can configure the Upvel UR 315bn router for a “PPPoE” connection only with a dynamically assigned IP address (no settings are provided for a fixed IP address in “PPPoE” mode).

Note: let's say an ADSL modem is used to communicate with the provider (which works in router mode). Then, the UR 315bn router connected to the modem is configured for a "DHCP" connection (not "PPPoE").

Turn on Wi-Fi

In "wireless" networking terminology, the device that creates the network is called an "access point". And network subscribers are “stations”.

wifi router Upvel UR 315bn, organizes a wireless network with the maximum possible speed of 150 Mbps (802.11 n protocol). Built-in "access point", equipped with only one antenna, and operates in the 2.4 GHz band. Let's take a look at the setup.

In the web interface, go to the tab "Wi-Fi network" -> "Basic settings":

Configuring the Upvel WiFi router, that is, the wireless network, is done on one tab.

  1. Turn on the Wi-Fi module;
  2. Module mode - "AP" (access point, "access point");
  3. Come up with and set the network name (SSID);
  4. In the "Frequency Channel" field, you need to select which of the modes to work in (802.11 b, g, or n). We recommend leaving it as in the figure (but if you don’t use “n”-standard devices, set it to “B + G”). The "N only" mode is not provided.
  5. Bandwidth - will remain "Auto";
  6. The width and channel number (from 1 to 13) can be selected manually. Moreover, the "width of the frequency channel" - can be "20 MHz" (or - "Auto", as in the figure).
  7. Network name - you can “hide” (“Broadcast” - “Off”), but we will leave it as it is;
  8. WMM - multimedia acceleration (it is better to leave "On").

Then, entering the network will remain without a password, encryption will not be used. How to configure the Upvel WiFi router in the "access point" mode, we have fully considered. Do not forget to click "Apply changes", the network will work immediately.

As you can see, the capabilities of the router are pretty standard. Additionally, WiFi router UR 315bn - can reduce the "power" of its transmitter. Go to the " Additional settings", in bottom line- set the value:

After that, you need to click "Apply changes". Still, as we have already said, you can create additional (guest) networks. You can enable them on the tab " Virtual settings AP" (default - off). On this, consideration WiFi settings- we will finish.

Remember: any changes you make are automatically saved in the "permanent" memory of the router (after clicking "Apply changes"). In case of errors, the parameters can be returned to the previous values, or, if necessary, a "reset" can be performed. Be careful.

TV

How to enable IPTV? To enable this option, only one “tick” must be set:

That is, where the "WAN Interface" is configured, you need to "Enable IGMP Proxy". What is this option for?

Information in digital television– transmitted by Multicast packets (multicast packets). By enabling the "IGMP proxy" option, we allow the transmission of Multicast packets on the local network.

Note: above, we looked at how to set up the UR 315bn router to watch TV through a computer. If an IPTV set-top box is used (device class “STB”), this is a different case (and the settings will be different).

Question answer

Is it possible, and if so, how to install the Upvel router on a vertical surface?

Answer: the router case allows mounting in any position. The antenna "rotates" in two planes (the antenna itself must be directed "vertically"). On the bottom of the case, there are 2 fasteners.

How to connect the Upvel WiFi router in the absence of a 220 Volt socket?

Answer: the total power consumption of the router cannot exceed 6 watts (according to some sources - 5). The power supply adapter from the kit produces a voltage of 5 volts, with a current of 1.2 amperes. In theory, you can even use a power adapter with a “USB port” output (rated for 1000mA), but not a “charger” for your phone. Remember: such actions, in any case, void the warranty.

What to do if the Upvel router is not defined at its address 192.168.10.1 (you can't enter the web interface)?

Answer: perform a "reset" on the included router (using the "RST" button, 10 seconds). Restart your PC. View the "Status" of the connection (on the "Support" tab): address type - must be "Assigned by DHCP", address value - within 192.168.10.XX. If this is not the case (and Network Card PC - configured correctly), the problem is in the hardware.

The WiFi Upvel router of the model discussed above is highly reliable. However, the percentage of factory marriage is available. Subject to the terms of the warranty, any problems - must be solved service center. No need to exaggerate the "opportunities" of the user.

So. We have, within reach, a WiFi network available to us. The task is to get the Internet through wireless connection for "sharing" in our internal network. To do this, we need to turn one of the routers (Upvel UR-315BN) into a client (repeater).

We go into the router settings through the browser of a computer connected by a patch cord to the device we are testing, entering its own IP address in the line and typing the username and password for accessing the interface that we previously set for security purposes. Immediately after that, open the tab "Operating mode" and change the checkbox to "Wireless WAN Connection".

Be sure to save the changes with the button below and go to the tab "Basic WiFi Settings". Here we change the mode of operation to "Client" and enter the SSID (network name) to which we intend to connect.

We do everything as in the screenshot below, remembering that the channel and encryption method on the access point and our repeater must be identical (therefore, the "auto" channel number is set). A little about encryption from the inscriptions in the figure ... Be sure to remember to save the changes with the button below (otherwise all our gestures were in vain).

Next, click on the button "Search WiFi networks" and get to the page, in fact, the search for networks. Click here "Search"(strange, how could you not guess?!) and we see a table with networks available in our area.

We find the network we need, mark it with a "daw" and click "Connect" at the bottom. We will be prompted to enter the SSID and password. Enter the name and password of the network to which we are connecting. We save.

Depending on the firmware, either the router starts to reboot itself, or we need to press the "reboot" button on the "status" page (at the very beginning of the interface).

After that, the router thinks for a while (at the same time, it urges you not to turn it off or restart it). After a minute of waiting, you will most likely be asked again to enter the username and password for accessing the router interface (but not the fact - no one can be sure what is on his mind). So, look at the "Status" tab.

If in the list WiFi settings" -> "Status" inscription appeared "Connected", then everything is Ok and we are connected to a remote access point.

You can immediately check the availability of the Internet in the browser by opening a website. Well, for fans of cmd of course: ping, tracert, pathping. If such an inscription about the connection does not appear for too long, then the procedure should be repeated from the very beginning.

So, after one of our routers (in our case, Upvel) has turned into a repeater, now you can connect the rest to it via a twisted pair cable from the LAN of the repeater to the WAN access of our network.

I already spoke last time about how the rest are set up and therefore I will not repeat myself. I will only note that they work in the "gateway" mode, and in the WAN interface settings it is DHCP client(that is, connected to a dedicated line that does not require the login and password of the provider).

That's probably all. Let's see the speed.

Not a super high-speed access point, we came across, of course, but without fish. Yes, even, each of the routers can be accessed from each device connected to any network access point by entering its IP in the browser line and typing the username and security password of this router. Maybe someone will come in handy.

Many thanks to Ivan who shared this useful information on configuring the Upvel router in repeater (client) mode.
