During offline activation, you only need a product key. When connected to Windows networks 10 will register without your participation. This will not work if the key is not purchased.

Reactivation is also an automatic process. However, if you have made changes to the hardware, such as installing a new motherboard, then the version may not be valid.

Important! Before reinstalling the operating system, make sure you have created backups all files and data (if possible).

Reinstalling Windows 10 from a flash drive

Previously, operating systems were installed from disk. A popular method is now using bootable flash drive. To do this, you will need a compatible USB drive with Windows 10 optimized on it.

It is important to note that it is easy to install Windows 10 on USB device not enough. At BIOS boot before the actual installation, the system must be prepared and recognized.

You can also create an installation disk, but on this moment we'll focus on the USB stick.

Create an installation USB drive

Step 1. First you need to download the system image from the Microsoft website. But one ISO file is not enough. In order for the computer to be able to recognize and boot the system, you need to create an installation USB flash drive.

Step 2 To do this, download the Windows 10 ISO file, as well as windows tool 10 Media Creation Tool.

Step 3. Connect the USB stick to the device you want to use for reinstallation.

Important! Make sure your flash drive has enough space (about 8 GB is recommended).

Step 4 Launch Media Creation Tool.

Important! All data on the flash drive will be deleted, so it is better to use a new one or an empty one.

  1. You will be presented with several options: one regarding the update, and the other USB preparation. Click "Create Installation Media (USB Flash Drive, DVD or ISO)".

    Click on "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD or ISO-f)", click "Next"

  4. In the new window, select the "USB Flash Drive" device.

  5. First, all files will be downloaded, and then the process of unpacking and creating a bootable flash drive will begin. The download time of the image depends on the speed of your Internet.

It's time to reinstall Windows 10

Step 1. You will need to boot from a USB stick. To do this, make sure it is connected. Restart (or power on) the system you want to reinstall. To do this, go to the BIOS. To get there, quickly press the F8 key or one of the suggested ones at boot (F12, F10, F2). As a rule, it can be found at the bottom of the screen. Number depends on motherboard.

Step 2 This will open the BIOS screen. Again, depending on the motherboard and specifications equipment, it may vary slightly. However, all BIOSes are characterized Common parameters kernels:

Step 3 Depending on your setup, you will see a number of options. For example, when installing Windows 10 on brand new hardware, you will be prompted to enter a registration key. However, since we are reinstalling the system, we must select "I do not have a product key." Activation will occur after the OS is installed.

Step 4 During installation, you will see several screens where you need to select the correct options. When a window appears with a choice of installation type, click "Custom". This is done because we are not updating, but completely reinstalling the system.

Step 5 You will then be able to select the primary partition where Windows will be installed. Suppose you want to overwrite and delete all previous data. Hence, format the current partition.

Step 6 The installation process will continue until the login screen appears. If you have created a password, enter it now. If not, then you will be taken to the main desktop.

Step 7 When connected to Internet Windows 10 should register automatically. Otherwise, you will have to enter your product key when prompted. If you have already done this before but cannot activate the system, then you installed it with incorrect settings or changed the assigned hardware, such as the motherboard.

Step 8 If version Windows is correct(Pro or Home) and there are no problems, but it is not activated yet, maybe the Microsoft servers are busy. To solve the problem, try restarting your device (we recommend checking if the download is stuck).

Step 9 If you are still unable to activate Windows 10, either due to an error or due to other hardware, then contact Microsoft Support for assistance.

Important! You can also activate using the following command in command line(leave the brackets): "slmgr.vbs/ato". It restarts the activation request, asks for a product key and stuff like that.

Congratulations! You have successfully reinstalled the OS using the flash drive as bootable media.

Video - The easiest way to reinstall Windows 10

Sooner or later operating room Windows system have to be reinstalled. Even if you use a reliable antivirus and watch what you run on your computer, Windows installation is still inevitable. In this article, we will walk you through the process of reinstalling Windows 10.

The whole process of reinstalling Windows 10 can be divided into several stages:

  • creating a boot disk (if you don't have one);
  • booting computer from Windows disk 10;
  • directly the process of reinstalling Windows.

Create a boot disk to reinstall Windows 10

In order to reinstall Windows 10 you need boot disk with this operating system. If you already have such a disk, then you can skip this step.

So, in order to prepare a boot disk you need two things:

  • disk image with Windows 10 in ISO format;
  • program for burning disk images;

After you got into BIOS settings, you need to go to the BOOT section (Download).

And then go to the subsection responsible for the boot order. Usually this section is called "Boot Device Priority".

Next, you will see a list of three or more items: 1st Boot Device, 2nd Boot Device, 3rd Boot Device, and so on. Opposite each of the items will indicate which device is being loaded at this stage.

We want to boot from disk first. Therefore, here you need to open the 1st Boot Device item and change its value to CDROM.

After that, you can save the settings and exit the BIOS. In most cases, this can be done by pressing the F10 key.

We press any key and wait until the installer appears on the screen, with which we can start.

Reinstalling Windows 10

The next step is directly reinstalling Windows 10 itself. After booting from the disk, a window should appear on the screen with a choice of regional settings. Here you need to specify the language of the operating system that you want to get after reinstallation, as well as the time format and keyboard layout. After selecting these options, click on the Next button.

The next step is to choose the installation method: or full installation. If you are reinstalling Windows 10 from scratch, then you need to choose the second option. If you are updating more old version Windows to Windows 10, then choose the first option accordingly.

Next, a window will open in front of you with a list of sections of your hard drive. If you are reinstalling, you should already have at least two partitions. Select the one on which the operating system is installed and click on the "Format" button.

After formatting, click on the "Next" button. At the same time, at the moment you click on the “Next” button, the partition that we just formatted should be selected.

Next, a window will appear informing you that the files are being copied. Wait a moment while the installer copies the files and restarts your computer. After rebooting, the screen will again display the message “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD", but in this case you do not need to press anything. Just wait until the computer boots up by itself.

After the computer boots up, the initial setup window will appear on the screen. Here you can select "Use express settings" and "Customize". If you use the "Use express settings" option, the system will apply the standard settings and will not ask any questions. If you select "Customize", then you can configure everything manually. We will select "Use express settings" because this option suitable for most users.

After clicking on the “Use express settings” button, you will see a form for entering a login and password from your Microsoft account. Since you are reinstalling Windows 10, you should already have this account. Enter your username and password and click on the "Next" button. If you don't have an account, you can register it. To do this, click on the "Create a new account" link.

After entering your username and password, you will be prompted to protect your account. You can skip this step by clicking on the "I can't do this right now" link.

And after a few minutes, a worker will open in front of you. Windows table 10.

That's it, the reinstallation of Windows 10 is over. You can start installing desired programs and system setup.

No matter how carefully you are about what you download on your computer, no matter how reliable the antivirus is, reinstalling Windows is necessary, and this will need to be done. That's why step-by-step instruction The Windows 10 upgrade process will be useful to many. Incomprehensible files, lack of space on the computer and its slow work are the first signs that this is a must.

Before proceeding with the procedure, we note a few important points.

First, check for important files. If your computer has additional disks, then it is better to send photos, videos and the necessary documents to them. If this is not possible, then you can simply save it to a USB flash drive - a modern and convenient way. In general, protect yourself and save useful and necessary information and after reinstallation.

Secondly, check that the computer boots from the usual DVD disc from the drive.

All preparations have been made. Finally, we note that the reinstallation process can be divided into the following main stages:

  • Creating a disk for loading (provided that it does not exist);
  • booting a computer from a Windows 10 disk;
  • reinstall itself.

Boot disk and its creation

To complete the Windows 10 reinstallation process, you must have a disk with the operating system on it.

You can simply skip this part of the whole procedure if you have such a disk. Well, if it is not there, then to create it is necessary:

  • a disk image with Windows 10 in a specific format;
  • program for burning the necessary disk images.

Little and easy. Wherein the program is suitable absolutely any. Let's take, for example, ImgBurn. This program is simple. And what is no less important: it does not require additional funds, it can be easily downloaded.

So, the first step in this step is to run the program. And then you should click on the button, which is located in the upper left corner.

After pressing it, a field for burning disk images appears. At this stage, it is necessary to indicate to the program the place where the above-mentioned ISO file: Click the folder icon button and select the file you want.

After selecting a file to burn, insert the disc into the drive and click on big button at the bottom of the pop-up window. This press will start burning the disc image to the disc you have prepared and inserted.

The second stage - booting the computer from the Windows 10 disk

The previous step is completed: the disk has been created. And now from this disk you need to boot your computer. To do this, firstly, you need to enter the BIOS, and, secondly, enable the boot.

It is easy to enter the program after performing the following simple steps:

  • To restart a computer
  • Wait for the download to start
  • Press login button

This procedure will not cause any difficulties, especially since a field with a hint is usually displayed on the screen.

After going into the settings of the downloaded program, go to the section BOOT(in translation, this word means "Loading").

In the field that you will see after clicking this button, you must select a subsection with the name, as in the photo below:

After selecting it, a list of three or more items will appear, opposite which it is explained which device will be loaded at each specific stage.

Since we are now loading from disk, we need to select the first item, which is highlighted in white in the above picture. And then change its value to CDROM.

So, the matter is coming to an end. We finally complete the change of value by saving the settings. And then you can exit the program altogether. This is usually done using the F10 key.

The only thing left is to insert the disk again and restart the computer. When booting from a disk is enabled in the program, a field with the inscription "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" will be displayed on the screen.

And now the final touch remains: press any key and wait for the installer to appear, with which you can proceed to the third stage and begin the process of updating Windows 10 directly.

The reinstallation process in action

Well, let's move on to the very last, final stage of updating the system. This is the third stage.

The disk loading was successful if a field with several standard options is displayed on the screen. This is an important part of the procedure, since right now you need to specify the time format, the language that will be on the computer, and the keyboard layout. Having marked everything you need, click on the Next button and move on to the next part of the process.

The step that will follow this is pressing the intent key - Install .

By pressing the button indicated above, a splash screen appears on the screen, indicating that the settings of the selected parameters are in progress.

So, gradually we are approaching the choice of installation method: just updates or full reinstallation. If there is a need to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch, then the choice should fall on the second option. If the situation is different: you want to keep the existing files, settings and applications of your version 10, then you should stop at the first method.

So, the choice is made, and the field with a list of hard disk partitions is open. With a complete reinstallation, you need to mark only the partition on which the system is installed. Being careful at this point in the process will help you avoid making mistakes (all data in this section will be permanently destroyed). Next, press the button " Format» .

There are two formatting methods: quick and regular. It is recommended to choose the second one, it takes not much more time than the first one (for comparison, 1 minute to 10), but it is much better and more efficient. You need to mark your choice with arrows and press the Enter key. Formatting is started, and when it is finished, the Next button will take you further. Important point: before pressing this key, check that the partition that was formatted a few minutes ago is filled in blue.

The field that will then appear on your computer screen will inform you that the files are being copied.

It will take a few minutes to copy and reload. When the computer has made all the necessary updates and gets to work, you will see a long inscription. You do not need to press anything, the download will happen automatically.

After waiting for the download, we will see the configuration options that need to be done at the very beginning:

For ordinary users, the priority is the first option, so we will not deviate from the standards.

So, the first option is chosen. Clicking it displays a form for entering a username and password from a Microsoft account. They must be entered. And then fix it with the Login button.

But the account protection step offered by the program can simply be skipped.

The inscription that appears on the screen after a short period of time will change to a traditional screensaver.

The update process has been completed. This is how you can reinstall the system on absolutely any computer. Now you can go directly to setting up the system and installing the programs you need.

It should be noted that if the computer is cluttered, it is not at all necessary to reinstall Windows 10. In this case, a clean reinstallation of the operating system is quite suitable.

A clean reinstall is possible:

  • On a running system
  • For download problems
  • If unable to download

You can do it with or without saving music, documents and photos in profiles.

Complete reinstallation or clean - you decide. But detailed guide, presented here, will help you reinstall Windows yourself without difficulties and problems. You do not need masters and additional spending of funds: proceed and act. Good luck.

Over time, any operating system inevitably starts to work slower than we would like. And Windows 10 is certainly no exception. In that case, you can try speed up system loading and performance. But sometimes you just want return it to its original, clean, so to speak "factory" state.

Reinstalling Windows 10 can be done in at least two ways. The first one is . I have discussed it in a separate article and, in my opinion, provides better performance than rollback. However, it is not suitable if you want to keep your important files intact on your computer or laptop. Therefore, here we will talk about the second method - resetting (or rolling back) the “tens” to its original state, while preserving all personal data. In addition to saving files, this method has another advantage: it does not require you to write a clean system image to a USB flash drive or disk. But there is also a significant disadvantage: the rollback of the “tens” to the factory state takes longer than its clean installation. Therefore, I recommend using it only when it is really impossible to do without it.

To roll back Windows 10 to its original state you need to use a special tool built into this operating system. To do this, let's go along the path: Settings(gear icon in the start menu or win+i) - Update and Security - Recovery. Under "Return the computer to the initial state" you need to click on the button " To begin».

After that, the “ten” will offer us two options: keep personal files or delete everything and put the system clean. We are considering a save option.

Preparations begin. And then it suddenly turns out that despite the promise to keep the programs, some of them will still be deleted. And a large part - in fact, everything, except for those applications that are in the Windows store. This, of course, is sad. But, if you look from the other side, then among all these programs there may be those that we no longer need. They waste system resources and, of course, can slow it down. "Let yourself be removed!" - we decide, but before clicking the "Next" button, we remember (or rather write down) which of this list of programs we need. They will need to be reinstalled from the official sites. By the way, I have links to some of them in the article “How to find official websites for programs for Windows 10”.

After clicking "Next", the system writes "Everything is ready for the computer to its original state" and warns of the consequences further action. These include removing all applications and programs that did not come with your computer and changing the default settings. We agree with this and click " Reset". The computer is resetting to its original state. This process is not fast: I ran it on a rather weak laptop, and in total it took me more than two hours! Whereas it took about half an hour to clean install Windows 10 (before the desktop appeared) on the same computer.

The recovery program continued for 15 minutes. Then the system rebooted and the message “Preparing in progress” appeared, then “Returning the computer to its original state” indicating the% of work completed. This step took me 42 minutes. Then the installation of Windows began with a circle and percentages inside it on a black background in the center of the screen. This went on for about an hour (I forgot to record the exact time). After all this, the computer rebooted, the desktop appeared and the installation of all the necessary drivers and updates for the "ten" itself began. This process took about an hour and a half.

Finally, I repeat that, of course, it will be much better and faster install windows 10 clean. Resetting to the original version can be used when a clean install is not suitable for some reason.
