Why did the sound disappear on Windows 7? Perhaps many Windows users 7 occurred at least once this problem. This article contains the most common causes and how to solve them.

The main reasons leading to loss of sound, as well as how to solve them

What causes the sound to disappear on a laptop, computer, etc.? In most cases, the reason for this is the user's own mistakes in handling the operating system.

So, what to do if the sound on your laptop does not work for you. The first step is to check for the necessary drivers for the sound card. Perhaps they need updating, or you don't have them at all. By the way, driver errors are half the reasons why the sound on a laptop disappears. In order to see which devices on your laptop or computer need a driver update, you need to open the Device Manager, which can be found in the control panel.

The manager window systematizes and presents all the drivers installed on a laptop, computer, etc. With it, you can check the availability, performance or relevance of drivers. If any item is marked with a yellow triangle, you should pay attention to it! Devices responsible for playing sound are located in the "Sound, game and video devices" tab.

Perhaps the most banal, but at the same time the most common reason for the loss of sound is its unconscious shutdown in the mixer. The mixer is a system with which you can adjust the volume of specific applications. You can open the mixer by clicking on the corresponding inscription in the volume control window. After running the mixer, make sure that all parameters are non-zero.

No less often there is another reason due to which the sound disappears on a laptop or a stationary computer. Its essence lies in disabling output devices themselves by the system. The reason for this may be system errors, device configuration changes and user intervention. Fixing this problem is very easy! For this:

Another common reason is the disabling of the service responsible for audio playback. To start it again, you need to go to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services. In the window that opens, find the "Windows Audio" service.

If the service is disabled, double-click on the service to open the change settings window, from where you can force the service to start by clicking the "Start" button.

In this window, you should configure one more parameter - the startup type. This parameter is responsible for starting the service when Windows boot. In order not to constantly start the service manually, I advise you to set this parameter as automatic.

No sound on front panel

What to do if the sound disappears on the front panel, or there is none at all? The whole problem lies in the question "Why is there no sound?".

In most cases, the front panel requires realtek dispatcher. If for some reason you do not have it, be sure to reinstall it. Launching the dispatcher from the control panel, go to the "Speakers" tab. Next, double-clicking on the folder icon in the left upper corner, check the box next to "Disable front panel jack detection"

If, after the operation of displaying information on the front panel, there is still no panel, it means that the BIOS installed in your laptop or computer is most likely not configured correctly. The BIOS system is present in any laptop, computer or tablet, and provides the operating system with API access to the hardware, including the front panel. To configure the BIOS for the front panel to work, you need:

  1. When the system starts, namely during the demonstration of the logo of the manufacturer of the motherboard installed on your laptop or computer, press and hold the F2 key to exit the BIOS menu.
  2. Then you need to find and select the item " Onboard devices configuration"In the tab" Advanced".
  3. In the next window, you need to configure one parameter, namely "Front Panel Type", which is responsible for the type of front panel. Usually there are 2 options: HD Audio and AC97.

What type of hardware your front panel should be listed on motherboard or wires.

If there is no sound on the front panel even after setting the BIOS system, then it is possible that sound card covered and will have to be replaced, but in this case, the sound should disappear not only on the front panel. Perhaps the sound is not working due to the fact that the wire has come off.

Owners of laptops Asus, Acer, Samsung, Hp and other models face a variety of audio problems during operation. In the material, we will consider why the sound on the laptop disappeared, what to do and how to fix the situation. Do not rush to call the master or run to service center, often the problem is solved by hand.

The reasons for the loss of laptop sound are versatile, but they can be divided into 2 areas: software and hardware. The problems and solutions discussed in this manual are mostly software related, since they are more common than hardware problems and can always be fixed.

Changing the volume level and status indicator

First, check the status for muting in the volume mixer. You can find out by the red crossed out circle on the volume icon, but not always. Users randomly or glitches in the system turn off the sound on the laptop. The situation may exist as follows, the complete disappearance of sound or partial (in applications). To view and change the volume scale, follow these steps.

In the system tray, click right click to the volume icon. From the menu, select "open volume mixer". If you did not see this element, read the instructions on why the volume icon disappeared from the taskbar in Windows.

In the volume mixer, you will see two areas: "device" and "apps". In the "device" area, control over the sound of the laptop's speakers is exercised. In the "applications" area, the sounds of the system and applications are regulated. Each element has a volume slider and a status indicator. If the indicator has a speaker icon with a red crossed out circle, then left-click on it to put the "unmute" position. If necessary, move the volume sliders to an acceptable level.

If the sound on the laptop has disappeared in a separate program, then run it, after which it will appear in the volume mixer in the "applications" area. Switch the indicator and adjust the position of the slider. The screenshot below shows an example with Yandex browser.

Do not forget to look at the settings or volume indicators in the programs themselves. For example, in browsers, the sound is still regulated Flash player, which also has a volume slider and a full mute icon in the player.

Notebooks have hotkeys for general audio control, so you don't always have to visit the volume mixer. To turn on the missing sound, hold down the Fn button and press the button with the crossed-out volume icon or similar (usually located in top row keyboards). You can also hold down the Fn key and press the volume up key (usually located on the keyboard arrows, next to the buttons). See screenshot below for hotkeys. Acer laptop.

When the sound on the laptop has disappeared, first of all follow the steps above. If the problem persists, restart the laptop, as the system may crash during prolonged use and after restarting the system, performance may be restored. Read on if the suggestions above don't work.

Reinstalling sound drivers

If everything is in order in the volume settings, then there may be a problem with the sound drivers. With crashed or unsuccessfully updated drivers, the sound on the laptop disappears. To restore them, consider reinstalling and rolling back the sound drivers.

Open device manager. In enter the command devmgmt.msc, then click OK. In the device manager, expand the sound devices item (see screenshot).

If your audio device is not working properly, it will have a small "!" or "?" icon. Double click on the audio device to bring up the properties window. Visit the "driver" tab, click the "update" button.

In the open window select automatic search drivers. If drivers are found, they will be downloaded and then installed automatically. If the OS did not find the driver, then read on.

Download a set of sound drivers from the laptop manufacturer's website or a third-party resource beforehand. The most common manufacturers of audio devices include:

  1. Realtek
  2. Creative
  3. Logitech

Many driver packages have an installer. By installing this software, you will automatically install the driver, thereby restoring the sound on the laptop. Next, you will need to reboot the system.

If you have a set of drivers without an installer, then in the properties of the audio device, when you click on the "update" button, select the search and installation of drivers manually (second point). Specify the folder, click "Next" and wait for the installation process to complete. Next, you will need to restart the system. More detailed information read the recommendations on how to install drivers on Windows.

After an unsuccessful driver update, you may notice that the sound on the laptop has disappeared. The cause may be a corrupted or incompatible new driver. In this case, pressing the “roll back” button will help you (returns old version driver) in the properties window of the audio device. In the message, click yes.

Enable audio service

It happens that the Windows Audio service responsible for playing sound is stopped. The tray volume icon has a red circle with a white cross. When you hover over the volume icon, a hint pops up that the audio service is not running. To restore sound on a laptop, you need to click on the sound icon with the left button. Then the troubleshooting wizard will automatically fix the problem, and you will see that the red cross icon is gone.

You can start the audio service manually. Press the Win + R button, copy services.msc into the input field, then click OK. Sort the services by name, then find the Windows Audio service, double-click on it with the left button.

On the "general" tab in the properties of the sound service, set the startup type to "automatic". Next, click the "start" button, wait a bit. Now the missing laptop sound will be restored.

Other ways to restore sound

There are enough reasons why the sound disappears. These reasons are versatile, so it is not always known why the sound on the laptop disappeared and what to do to restore it. Here are a few tips that might help you:

  1. Run the troubleshooter to fix common audio problems.
  2. In the sound settings, set your audio device as the default playback device.
  3. In device manager, enable the audio playback device.
  4. and turn on the audio device there.
  5. Update the BIOS.
  6. Make sure that external speakers, the headphones are in working condition, and also see that the plug is plugged into the line output.
  7. Install OS updates.
  8. Do a system restore.

In more detail, you can consider some of the recommendations above in the article, the sound does not work on a computer in Windows 7, 8, 10. Now you know why the sound on the laptop disappeared, what to do and how to restore it. In the event that you went through all the methods, and the audio device did not work for you, most likely the problem lies in the hardware. At home, a regular user cannot fix problems with equipment, so you can’t do without going to a service center.

The lack of sound in the operating system is a rather unpleasant thing. We simply cannot watch movies and videos on the Internet or on a computer, or listen to our favorite music. How to fix the situation with the inability to play audio, we will discuss in this article.

Sound problems in the OS most often occur due to various system failures or malfunctions of the hardware nodes responsible for playing audio. Updates, installation software, profile changes Windows settings- all this can lead to the fact that, when playing content, you will not hear anything at all.

Reason 1: Equipment

Consider perhaps the most common situation - wrong connection speakers to the motherboard. If your acoustic system has only two channels (two speakers - stereo), and 7.1 sound is soldered on the motherboard or sound card, then it is quite possible to make a mistake with the choice of the socket for connection.

Speakers 2.0 are connected with only one plug mini jack 3.5 to the green connector.

If the audio system consists of two speakers and a subwoofer (2.1), then, in most cases, it is connected in the same way. If there are two plugs, then the second one is usually connected to the orange socket (subwoofer).

Speaker systems with six-channel sound (5.1) already have three cables. They match the connectors in color: green is for the front speakers, black is for the rear speakers, and orange is for the center speaker. The low-frequency speaker, most often, does not have a separate plug.

Eight-channel systems use one more additional connector.

Another obvious reason is the lack of power from the outlet. No matter how confident you are, check that the audio system is connected to the mains.

It is not necessary to exclude the exit of their system electronic components on the motherboard or speakers. The solution here is standard - try to connect working equipment to your computer, and also check if the speakers will work on another.

Reason 2: audio service

Service Windows Audio responsible for managing audio devices. If this service is not running, then the sound in the operating system will not work. The service is turned on when the OS boots, but for some reason this may not happen. Blame it on failures in Windows settings.

  1. Need to open "Control Panel" and go to category .

  2. Then you need to open the section "Administration".

  3. AT this section there is a label with the name "Services", with its help we can launch the equipment we need.

  4. Here, in the list of services, you need to find the Windows Audio service and check if it is enabled, as well as what mode is indicated in the column "Startup Type". The mode must be "Auto".

  5. If the parameters are not the same as shown in the image above, then you need to change them. For this we click PKM by service and open its properties.

  6. First of all, change the startup type to "Auto" and press "Apply".

  7. After applying the setting, the button will become active. "Start", which was unavailable if the service was of startup type "Disabled". We click on it.

Windows will enable the service at our request.

In a situation where the parameters were initially configured correctly, you can try to solve the problem by restarting the service, for which you need to select it in the list and click on the corresponding link in the upper left part of the window.

Reason 3: System volume settings

Quite often, the reason for the lack of sound is the volume settings, or rather, its level equal to zero.

Reason 4: driver

The first sign of a non-working driver is the inscription "No audio devices" in the window system settings, on the tab "Volume".

You can identify and resolve problems that the audio device driver is at fault at "Device Manager" Windows.

  1. AT "Control Panels" go to category "Performance and Maintenance"(see above) and go to the section "System".

  2. Open the tab in the properties window "Equipment" and click on the button "Device Manager".

  3. Following are two options:
    • AT "Dispatcher", in the branch "Sound, video and gaming devices» there is no sound controller, but there is a branch "Other devices" containing « unknown device» . It could very well be our sound. This means that there is no driver installed for the controller.

In this case, we click PKM by device and select "Update Driver".

In the window "Hardware Update Wizard" select item "Yes, just this time", thereby allowing the program to connect to the Windows Update site.

The wizard will automatically search for and install the software. Reboot after installation operating system.

    • Another option is that the controller is detected, but next to it there is a warning icon in the form of a yellow circle with an exclamation point. This means that the driver has failed.

In this situation, we also click PKM on the controller and go to properties.

As you can see, the controller has disappeared from the sound devices branch. Now, after the reboot, the driver will be installed and launched again.

Reason 5: Codecs

Digital media content is encoded before transmission different ways, and when it arrives at the end user, it is decoded. This process is handled by codecs. Often, when reinstalling the system, we forget about these components, and for normal Windows work XP they are needed. In any case, it makes sense to update the software to eliminate this factor.

  1. Go to the official website of the developers of the K-Lite Codec Pack and download latest version. On the this moment Support for Windows XP until 2018 is declared, so versions released later may not install. Pay attention to the numbers shown in the screenshot.

  2. Open the downloaded package. In the main window, select the normal installation.

  3. Next, select the default media player, that is, with which the content will automatically play.

  4. In the next window, leave everything as it is.

  5. Then choose the language for titles and subtitles.

  6. The next window prompts you to configure output options for audio encoders. Here it is necessary to determine what kind of audio system we have, how many channels and whether there is a built-in decoder in the audio equipment. For example, we have a 5.1 system, but without a built-in or external receiver. We select the appropriate item on the left and indicate that the computer will deal with decoding.

  7. The settings are done, now just click Install.

  8. After the installation of codecs is complete, it will not be superfluous to restart Windows.

Reason 6: BIOS settings

It may happen that previous owner(or maybe you, but forgot about it) when connecting the audio card, changed the BIOS settings of the motherboard. This option may be called "Onboard Audio Function" and to enable the audio system built into the motherboard, it must have the value "Enabled".

If after all the steps the audio still does not play, then it is possible that last resort will be reinstalling Windows xp. However, do not rush, as there is an opportunity to try to restore the system.

Conclusion

All the causes of sound problems and their solutions given in this article will help you get out of the situation and continue to enjoy music and movies. Please be aware that rash actions, such as installing "new" drivers or software designed to improve the sound of your old audio system, can lead to malfunctions and a long manual recovery functions.

There can be several reasons for the loss of sound on a laptop, and you can deal with some of them yourself at home. The reasons for the disappearance of sound can be divided into hardware and software.

Hardware may include a sound card malfunction (requires repair in the workshop), a malfunction speakers or headphones, failure of the speakers on the laptop, malfunction of communications (plugs, connectors, cables, etc.).

Software malfunctions include sound settings in the operating system, player, audio manager, driver update, etc.

Search for the reasons for the loss of sound

If the sound on the laptop disappeared, what to do at home, what measures to take.

First . Checking sound level in the notification area. At the bottom right of the working window, next to the clock, there is a speaker icon, by clicking on it with the left mouse button, you will see the volume level. Set it to max for now. Here you click on the mixer and look at the volume controls, also look at turning on the sound by the speaker icon.

How to turn on the sound on a laptop using the keys. The laptop may have a mute button on the keyboard. Maybe the Mute mode (silence) is enabled through the keyboard, it is turned on with the Fn key + the desired key. Press a couple of times and check the sound. The crossed-out speaker should disappear from the screen.

You can also adjust the volume (sound) level on a laptop by clicking on the speaker icon in the notification area (tray) and using the Fn + speaker buttons (usually these buttons are the same color as the Fn key). You need to press the Fn button and, without releasing it, press the volume up or down buttons several times.

If the sound on the laptop is quiet, then you need to check all the volume controls, both software and hardware.

Second. Check Speakers. To do this, you need to connect an external device (headphones, active speakers, etc.), if the sound appears on external device, then you will need to replace the speakers of the laptop. The internal speakers on a laptop may fail when working at maximum volume, and for this reason, the speakers may begin to wheeze.

If you often used headphones and often inserted a plug into the connector, then the contacts could deteriorate over time. This is especially indicated when, when headphones are connected, sound reproduction changes (appears, disappears, interference appears, etc.). You need to change the connector in the laptop, you need a specialist.

If the sound card does not work well, there may be interference, the sound may periodically disappear or the sound may disappear completely. It is impossible to change the integrated sound card; in this case, you can connect via USB external sound card.

Third . Check Sound Manager(separately installed sound program from the manufacturer of the sound card). This may be the Realtek High Definition Audio manager, which is usually located in the notification bar. If it is not there, then you can be advised to install the sound driver again, or update it.

Fourth. Check drivers. We go into the device manager and find "Sound devices". If the device is disabled, then enable it. If there is yellow next to the device Exclamation point then you need to reinstall the driver.

Device Manager

How to enter the device manager: hover over the "computer" and press the right mouse button, select properties and then "device manager". You can also click "Start" and "control panel", in the window that opens, click the item "system" and there will already be a section "device manager".

In the manager, look for your sound card in the sound devices and press the right mouse button, select "update driver". After updating the driver, it is advisable to reboot the system.

If, when updating the driver, the system itself did not find correct driver, then it must be either on the disk to the motherboard with all the drivers or it can be downloaded from the sound card manufacturer's website, if the card is built-in, then from the laptop manufacturer's website.

Sometimes you may need to reinstall the drivers, even if the system says that they do not need to be updated and everything is working fine, but there is no sound.

Fifth. Check Windows "audio" services.

Audio service path: "control panel → administrative → services → Windows audio' - This service must be running. If this is not the case, then go to the properties of this service (right-click on the name of the service) and start, as well as set automatic start.

If the audio service is stopped again at the next boot, you can manually add it to autostart.

Sixth. For the built-in sound card, you can check enabling in bios.

We go into the BIOS and find the device item (advanced), find the item with the word audio, for example “High Definition Audio” and set it to “Enabled” (enabled) if it was “Disabled”.

You can enter the BIOS when you turn on or restart the laptop, you only need to periodically (every second) press the key, which is indicated for each system separately. You can see the name of such a key at boot, when the system itself writes that to enter the BIOS, press such and such a key, such a message comes in the form “Press F2 to Setup”. Instead of the F2 key, there can be DEL, F10, F12. Entering the BIOS, find the “Devices Configuration”, or “Integrated Peripherals”, or “Onboard Devices Configuration”, or “Advanced” section, and already there you need to find the settings for our sound, the item name may contain the word “Audio”. The item "High Definition Audio", or another name for your card, should be Enabled.

1) If the sound disappeared after installing programs or updates, then try do a system restore while the sound was working properly. If the sound is restored, then the problem may be in conflict with new program or updates.

2) If the sound in the laptop stops working and the system writes that the device is being used by another application, then you need to look in the tray (next to the clock) which of the applications are running. You can also look in the task manager at running applications. Try turning off those that can use sound (players, players, etc.). If you find such applications, after disabling which a sound appears, then you need to remove them from autorun.

3) The sound on the laptop disappeared what to do: if in sleep mode laptop switched with headphones, then the headphones were taken out and the laptop was taken out of sleep mode. And there is no sound. Helped: enter sleep mode again, but exit with the headphones inserted. That is, repeat the operation in the reverse order (we put it into sleep mode without headphones, and we bring it out of the mode already with headphones). This can also happen when connecting other interfaces that use sound, such as HDMI.

4) If you right-click on the volume icon in the tray, you can see the items for selecting playback devices. choose playback devices and see if the device is selected for audio playback. You need to select the speakers to listen to the sound on the laptop. If you connected, for example, by HDMI TV, another device may be selected.

5) If there is no sound only on the video or when playing individual files, then maybe there are no necessary codecs. You can download codecs and install, it's easy to do. Popular K-Lite-Codec set. You can download and install it.

6) Check if the sound disappeared only in one application or on some site, or there is no sound at all on the laptop when using any programs. Maybe on the site or in one of the applications, the volume control is removed to a minimum, but on other applications everything works fine. For example, both YouTube and when listening to music on the VKontakte website have their own sound controls.

Good day.

This article, based on personal experience, is a kind of collection of reasons due to which the computer may lose sound. Most of the causes, by the way, can be easily eliminated on your own! To begin with, it should be distinguished that the sound may disappear for software and hardware reasons. For example, you can check the performance of the speakers on another computer or audio / video equipment. If they are working and there is sound, then most likely the questions are related to the software part of the computer (but more on this in more detail).

And so, let's get started...

6 reasons why there is no sound

1. Non-working speakers (the cords often bend and break)

This is the first thing to do when setting up sound and speakers on your computer! And then, sometimes, you know, there are such incidents: you come to help a person solve an issue with sound, but it turns out he forgot about the wires ...

In addition, you may have connected them to the wrong input. The fact is that there are several outputs on the computer's sound card: for a microphone, for speakers (headphones). Usually, for a microphone, the output is covered in pink, for speakers - in green. Pay attention to this! Also, here is a small article about, where this issue was analyzed in more detail.

Rice. 1. Cord for connecting speakers.

Sometimes it happens that the inputs are very worn out, and they just need to be slightly corrected: removed and reinserted. You can also clean the computer from dust, at the same time.
Also pay attention to whether the columns themselves are included. On the front side of many devices, you can see a small LED that signals that the speakers are connected to the computer.

Rice. 2. These speakers are on because the green LED on the body of the device.

By the way, if you increase the volume in the speakers to the maximum, you can hear the characteristic "hiss". Pay attention to all this. Despite the elementary nature, in most cases there are problems with just this ...

2. The sound is reduced in the settings

The second thing to do is to check if everything is in order with the computer settings, perhaps in Windows the sound has been programmatically reduced to a minimum or disabled in the control panel for sound devices. Perhaps, if it is simply reduced to a minimum, there is sound - it plays very weakly and it is simply not audible.

Let's show the setting using Windows 10 as an example (in Windows 7, 8 everything will be the same).

1) Open control Panel, then go to the section " equipment and sounds«.

3) You should see audio devices (including speakers, headphones) connected to the computer in the " sound" tab. Select the desired speakers and click on their properties (see Fig. 4).

4) In the first tab that opens in front of you (“general“) you need to look carefully at two things:

  • - was the device detected?, if not, you need drivers for it. If they are not there, use one of the utilities for, the utility will at the same time recommend where to download the necessary driver;
  • - look at the bottom of the window to see if the device is turned on. If not, then be sure to enable it.

5) Without closing the window, go to the “levels” tab. Look at the volume level, it should be more than 80-90%. At least until you have a sound, and then adjust (see Fig. 6).

Rice. 6. Volume levels

6) There is a special button for checking the sound in the “ advanced" tab - when you press it, you should play a short melody (5-6 seconds). If you do not hear it, go to the next step, saving the settings.

Rice. 7. Sound check

7) You can, by the way, once again go to " control panel/hardware and sounds» and open « volume settings", as shown in Fig. eight.

Here we are interested in whether the sound is reduced to a minimum. By the way, in this tab you can turn down the sound of even a certain type, for example, all that is heard in the Firefox browser.

8) And the last.

In the lower right corner (next to the clock) there are also volume settings. Check if there is a normal volume level there and if the speaker is turned off, as in the picture below. If all is well, you can proceed to step 3.

Rice. 10. Adjust the volume on the computer.

Important! In addition to Windows settings, be sure to pay attention to the volume of the speakers themselves. Perhaps the regulator is at a minimum!

3. There is no driver for the sound card

Most often, problems arise on the computer with drivers for video and sound cards ... That is why the third step in restoring sound is to check the drivers. You may have already identified this problem in the previous step ...

To determine if everything is in order with them, go to device Manager. To do this, open control Panel, then open the " Equipment and sound" and then run device Manager. This is the most fast way(see fig. 11).

In the device manager, we are interested in the tab " Sound, game and video devices". If you have a sound card and it is connected: it should be displayed here.

1) If the device is displayed and a yellow exclamation mark (or red) is lit opposite it, then the driver is not working correctly, or not installed at all. In this case, you need to download the driver version you need. By the way, I like to use the program - it will show not only the device model of your card, but also tell you where to download the necessary drivers for it.

A great way to update and check your drivers is to use the auto-update and driver search utilities for any hardware in your PC: . Highly recommend!

2) If there is a sound card, but Windows does not see it ... Anything can be here. It is possible that the device is not working properly, or you have connected it poorly. I recommend that you first clean the computer from dust, blow out the slot if you do not have a built-in sound card. In general, in this case, the problem is most likely with the hardware of the computer (or that the device is turned off in BIOS, about Bos, see a little lower in the article).

Rice. 12. Device manager

It also makes sense to update your drivers or install drivers of a different version: older or newer. It often happens that developers are not able to provide for all possible computer configurations and it is possible that some drivers in your system conflict with each other.

4. No codecs on audio/video

If you have a sound when you turn on your computer (you can hear, for example, a Windows greeting), and when you turn on some video (AVI, MP4, Divx, WMV, etc.) - the problem is either in the video player, or in codecs, or in the file itself (perhaps it is corrupted, try opening another video file).

1) If the problem is with the video player, I recommend that you install another one and try. For example, the player - gives excellent results. It already has built-in and optimized codecs for its operation, thanks to which it can open most video files.

2) If the problem is with codecs, I advise you to do two things. The first is to remove your old codecs from the system completely.

And second, install full set codecs - K-Lite codec-pack. First, this package has a great and fast media player Player, secondly, all the most popular codecs that open all the most popular video and audio formats will be installed.

An article about K-Lite Codec Pack codecs and their correct installation:

By the way, it is important not only to install them, but to install them correctly, i. full set. To do this, download the full set and select the "Lots of Stuff" mode during installation (more on this in the article about codecs - the link is just above).

Rice. 13. Codec settings

5. Incorrectly configured Bios

If you have a built-in sound card - check your BIOS settings. If the sound device is turned off in the settings, then you are unlikely to be able to make it work in Windows. To be honest, usually this problem is rare, because. By default in the BIOS settings - the sound card is enabled.

To enter these settings, press the F2 or Del button (depending on the PC) when you turn on the computer. Usually a button is always written on it to enter the BIOS.

For example, the ACER computer turns on - the DEL button is written below - to enter BIOS (see Fig. 14).

Rice. 14. Bios entry button

In BIOS, you need to look for a line containing the word " Integrated«.

Rice. 15.Integrated Peripherals

In the list, you need to find your audio device and see if it is turned on. In Figure 16 (below), it is enabled, if you have “ Disabled" opposite - change it to " Enabled" or " Auto".

Rice. 16. Enable AC97 Audio

After that, you can exit the BIOS by saving the settings.

6. Viruses and adware
