Paul writes that his goal is to talk about how to install and configure Windows 10 on a Mac "as optimally as possible." Microsoft's OS will never work perfectly on a "poppy" - Apple does not consider it necessary to regularly update the necessary drivers and "adjust" to someone else's OS. But it's better than nothing.
Let's start with the minimum system requirements:
- Windows 10 installation file ISO format. You will need either licensed copy, which most users probably already have, or an ISO file with the system (activation is - for now - optional). Attention! You only need to download the 64-bit version, they are not friends with 32-bit Macs.
- Mac computer - iMac, MacBook, Mac mini, Mac Pro 2012 or newer, running OS X (X, by the way, means "10", not "ex") Yosemite or El Capitan.
- Flash drive 4 GB or more.
- Free space - at least 20 GB.

Open Boot Camp Assistant. The simplest way To do this, press Cmd + space and enter the word boot camp in the Spotlight search bar that opens.

In Windows 10, the first three buttons work as intended, and Command replaces the Win key. You can leave everything as it is - or you can use the KeyTweak utility and put the buttons in their usual Windows places. KeyTweak's capabilities allow you to do more - for example, Paul got the Delete button on his MacBook Air by entering the Fn + Delete command.
How to switch between Windows and OS X. Want to return to OS X? There are two options - either click on the Boot Camp icon in the Taskbar and select "Reboot to OS X", or initiate a simple reboot and immediately after sound signal hold down the Alt / Option button on the keyboard. On the other hand, you can find Windows laptops similar in size and performance, but they will cost much more - it will be a completely different price category, and some characteristics will be noticeably better (screen resolution, for example), which is not always justified in such laptops.
Well, and, moreover, it is difficult to find a Windows laptop that would last as long on battery power as Apple device. This is due, among other things, to the energy efficiency of the macOS operating system.
Installing Windows on a Mac
It is very difficult to install the macOS operating system on a typical Windows computer, and even then it is not a fact that everything will work. In most cases, the so-called "Hackintosh" is used - a special assembly of macOS, which, after performing special rituals "with dances and tambourines", is able to run on a regular PC. However, if the user is lucky with motherboard, then after flashing the BIOS and replacing the bootloader, you can even install the official macOS distribution kit, which will even receive regular updates from the Apple server. Some, however, also call this method a hackintosh.
But to put Windows on any Mac is easier than a steamed turnip. No more difficult than installing Windows on any "regular" computer, maybe a little longer. The easiest way to install Windows on a Mac is with the built-in macOS Boot Camp Assistant, which will help you partition your drive, set up the bootloader, and prepare bootable flash drive with drivers and distribution image.
Note that even if you prefer virtualization when installing multiple operating systems on your computer, this is not a problem in macOS either: Parallels Desktop, the most popular virtual machine for Mac (in which you can work with Windows applications and windows in the same way as with macOS), allows you to work with installed in Boot Camp Windows and does not require additional manipulations: that is, you can use Windows both in virtualization mode and by booting into it separately. But in this article, we will only work with Boot Camp.
So, we stock up on an external USB drive, and a 16-gigabyte flash drive. Now it's up to the small - we start Boot Camp.

After Boot Camp finishes, the computer will restart and Windows installation will begin according to the usual scenario. Choose a country, a keyboard, lean back in your chair, when you select, lean back in your chair again - and so on. Unless, you have to manually format the newly created partition in NTFS. But Windows will warn you about it.
When Windows installs and finally boots up, it will install the same Windows support software from Apple that it includes.
Run Windows on Mac

The trackpad bar in Windows 10 functions in much the same way as it does in the Apple operating system. You can configure any gestures to perform the most different actions one, two, three and four fingers. True, you cannot assign a three-finger press to launch Cortana.

If you want to boot into Windows, you need to hold down the Alt button while booting - then the boot partition selection menu will appear. If you didn’t install anything else, then there will be two partitions: macOS and Windows. We select the second one and boot into Windows.
And since Windows will reboot much more often than macOS, which generally rarely requires a reboot, it makes sense in the Boot Camp utility on Windows to set Windows to boot by default. Even if you very rarely use Microsoft operating systems, believe me, it will be easier this way. After all, you will have to turn off or restart your Mac under macOS even less often.
Removing Windows from a Mac
Without this paragraph, the article would not be complete. What to do if Windows on Mac is no longer needed and needs to be removed? Apple has taken care of that too. Boot into macOS, launch Boot Camp Assistant and select Uninstall Windows 8 or later.

Attention!!! Install Windows 10 only on a drive marked as BOOTCAMP. When you click on it, the system will tell you that you cannot install Windows on this drive because it uses a different file system. This is solved by pressing the Format button in the partition selection interface for installing the operating system.
