Getting acquainted with the Nokia x2 Dual Sim smartphone, we knew that this model is a budget model and that its cost is about $ 120, but in general, it seems that the phone costs at least twice as much. Moreover, everything works in the device without glitches, unnecessary freezes, and this creates a pleasant impression that even the android-based operating system cannot then destroy. Nokia X 2.0 is a fusion of Android and Windows, on which you cannot initially use the play market, however , then it was possible to bypass it. What else. The processor is quite fast, as a result, all applications work quickly, random access memory certainly not enough for modern games, but for the rest it turns out to be quite enough. The only thing that let us down is that without root rights you will not be able to update the operating system, and Nokia does not provide after-sales support.

The operating system is underdeveloped and the concept itself is lame. An eerie mix of Android Windows. Officially Android 4.3;

- Resistant against mechanical damage;

- It is possible to change the back cover, there are various color options;

The battery at full load holds a total of about 1 day;

— The speaker would be better;

- The screen is quite wide, with high-quality color reproduction. Sometimes it seems that the phone costs more;

- Qualitatively works with two SIM cards;

- It is possible to synchronize with a computer;

Conclusion

Smartphone Nokia x2 Dual Sim is an ideal device for a gift to a child or as a work phone, with a bunch of applications and the ability to use the Internet. The biggest advantage of this phone is its price, however, this does not mean that the smartphone performs badly - rather, it is an exception to the rule that cheap things cannot be of high quality. In addition, the colors of the phones are pleasing, while the design, as always, remains at the level. The OS was a little disappointing, but the matter turned out to be fixable, I would like to attribute weak RAM to the minuses - this is already more of a nitpick. In general, the system works quite quickly and conveniently.

Now you will get not only a couple of slots for cards different operators(or tariffs), but also a camera, which was not in previous models similar in design.

It is worth considering right away that, since there is one radio module, it will not work to conduct simultaneous conversations on both SIMs. However, this is a common feature of inexpensive models. The phone has good equipment: among the interesting features, in addition to a 2-megapixel camera, a player with dedicated control keys, a slot for a memory card, a 2.2” QVGA screen, as well as a radio that works without headphones and an FM transmitter deserve attention. It turns out a musical device, at the same time adapted to work with a pair of cards.

Appearance

The monoblock is reminiscent of models and, only it has a different color back panel and a more successful keyboard shape. The dimensions of the device are slightly different: 113x50x15 mm, weight 93 g. Due to the slightly curved rear panel, the phone fits well in the hand.

In addition, the side surfaces are beveled, which contributes to a more comfortable grip. A plump phone is quite comfortable to wear in jeans or trousers, although it should be noted that other modules get thinner cases.

Nokia X2-02 can be of several colors: red, black, blue, orange, purple. Build quality is flawless, very good. A neatly made device will appeal to its solidity, tight fit of parts. The glossy plastic is easily soiled, and the front part and the back panel are quickly covered with fingerprints. On the side parts you can find a more practical matte material. This is a simple, slightly rough plastic.

At the top there is a small cutout for the earpiece.

There are buttons below the screen. There are a couple of soft keys, below them are the keys for receiving and ending a call. The latter can turn off the phone. They are marked with simple and clear icons in the form of handsets red and green. The buttons are made in the form of small flat plates. They have a small move, but they themselves are slippery, not very pleasant.

In the center is a 4-way navigation key with a small and clear stroke. She has raised sides, and the central part is recessed down. It is pressed with a soft click. Pressing in the center performs the function of confirming the action.

The keyboard is comfortable, 12 separate keys are arranged in four rows. The buttons are plump, embossed, easy to press. Again, the plastic is glossy and slippery, so they may not appeal to everyone. But there are no complaints about the convenience of the set, here this issue is resolved much better than in X1-01 and X1-00. The symbols are printed in silver, they are perfectly visible on a black background. The backlight works fine, everything is clearly visible.

There are additional elements on the beveled side faces. On the right, the user gets a set of two buttons to adjust the volume. Next to the compartment for the SIM-card under the protective cap.

On the other side, there is a microSD card slot. It is also hidden under a cap made of durable plastic. The start-stop button for music control is placed here.

A standard 3.5 mm hole on the top end allows you to connect any headphones to your phone. In the center is the microUSB connector. There is also a hole for a “thin” 2mm Nokia charger.

At the bottom there is a microphone hole, as well as a small recess that helps to remove the back panel.

The back of the phone is covered with a plastic cover. It is matte, does not scratch or get dirty. It behaves very well and looks much more practical than the glossy panels in other versions. At the top you can see the insert into which the 2-megapixel camera lens is inscribed, as well as the speaker hole.

Inside lies the battery, next to it is the compartment for the SIM card.

Display

The Nokia X2-02 has a 2.2-inch TFT screen that displays 262K colors. Its resolution is 240x320 pixels.

It is impossible to change the brightness level manually here, the viewing angles are quite modest. But it is worth remembering the cost of the phone, so everything falls into place. In the sun, the phone behaves very well, the image can be seen normally.

Menu

Indicators of cellular network signal reception, battery charge, time and date are displayed on the desktop. There may be lines of widgets and shortcuts, each of which can be assigned desired function by choosing among various applications. Among them are: favorite contacts, calendar, note, timer, link bar, search, mail, radio and music, communities, notifications, chat. You can move the links around the screen at your discretion, choosing the design that is most convenient for you.

In order to enter the menu, you need to press the center of the navigation key. The right and left soft buttons launch other applications. Initially, they are assigned access to the phone book and the shortcut menu. It consists of icons of various applications. You can choose from more than 60 functions by adding the ones you need. In this case, the number is unlimited, if desired, you can add all available links. If you choose more simple form desktop, then fast access functions are accessed by moving the navigation key in all four directions.

The menu consists of numerous shortcuts. You can move them around, organizing them in the order you want. There are several other types of menus: single, list, icons without signatures.

You can change on the screen background picture, choosing from a number of pre-installed or downloaded by yourself. Of course, there is also the possibility of changing themes, the phone has several pieces installed for variety.

When the screen is locked, no additional information it is not displayed. If you press the end call key, the display will light up and show the time and date. The platform is good and convenient, its main drawback is the lack of full-fledged multitasking. The player and the radio work in the background, but the same browser or twitter cannot be minimized, you will have to restart the program each time.

Phone book

Each contact in the device memory can be assigned up to 5 phone numbers. Additionally, other useful data is recorded: type of number (work, mobile, home, etc.), e-mail, website address, date of birth, address, organization note, pseudonym, position.

Each contact can be assigned not only a picture, but also an individual melody. Of course, fields are allocated for the first and last name, the limitation is the number of characters: 50 characters for each field, which is quite enough.

By selecting a contact in the phone book, you can perform a number of actions: call, send a message or email, and add information. Names are entered as a list, name and number, name and picture. More than large size font.

The list can be sorted either by first name or last name of the persons included in it. User groups are created, each of them can be assigned a picture and a melody. There is a phone book search that searches by the first letter of the first or last name. Scrolling through the list with names is slow, the phone slows down.

Call log

Each list shows the user's name or number, as well as the date of the call and the number of the SIM card involved. The log shows the total duration of calls. You can send a message to any number or save it to your contact list (by creating a new one or updating an existing one). The dialed digits are displayed as large characters on the display, they are clearly visible.

The total duration of conversations is displayed, there is also a message counter. The phone has a function speakerphone, during a call it is activated by the right soft key. During a call, the duration of the call is displayed on the screen. Before making a call, you can set a timer, after a certain time it will display a user-defined message.

By dialing a number or selecting it in the list of names, you can make a call, you will be prompted to select one of the SIM cards. In the settings, the SIM card is set, which will be used by default for calls or sending SMS. You can enter this menu both from the item with the phone settings, and by holding the * button, where the symbol of a pair of SIM cards is applied. The voice recorder is turned on to record the conversation.

Messages

The section is dedicated to SMS and MMS messages. following the trend recent years, correspondence with a person can be displayed as a single list, forming a dialogue. All messages go to one shared folder.

You can add an audio file, picture or video to any SMS message, which will automatically transform it into MMS. Copying and pasting of text is supported, data from the message can be transferred to the calendar. The font size is changed.

When sending, you can select from phone book destinations, journal and e-mail numbers, recently used numbers, and send the message to a favorite user.

Email

E-mail is implemented using a built-in application that helps you quickly set up mailbox on one of the popular mail servers. In my case, Gmail.com, Mail.ru were tested, with which there were no difficulties. Automatic download of messages is supported, you can choose between one of three intervals, set the period for receiving mail.

The phone can download emails with attachments, but there are problems with viewing files, such as documents - the ability to display data applies only to graphic images. Work with several e-mail accounts is supported, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP protocols work. The mail client has basic capabilities, you can use it to write a letter, send a file (a picture from the phone's memory or a photo from the camera).

Camera

The phone has a 2-megapixel module. The camera is launched through the phone menu. The interface is clear and simple. A series of icons are displayed that allow you to access photo and video settings, as well as switch between photo and video modes.

The camera has a number of settings:

Save pictures: phone memory or memory card.

Image title: automatically or custom title.

Photo quality: 2M (1600x1200), 1.3M (1280x960) 0.3M (640x480), 0.1M (320x240 pixels).

Auto timer: 3, 5, 10 seconds.

White balance: automatic, daylight, incandescent, fluorescent.

Effects: Normal, False Colors, Greyscale, Sepia, Negative, Overexposure.

Camera Sound: On or Off.

Photo viewing time: 3, 5, 10 seconds or unlimited.

Sample pictures can be seen below. The quality is the most common for a phone without autofocus and with a simple camera.

Maximum video quality at 176x144 pixels, 10 frames per second. A number of settings are similar to those used during photography.

Audio player

The player reads such formats as AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, MP4, WMA. The playlist can be sorted by genre, artist, album. Playlists are highlighted, and you can also listen to all the tracks in turn. In playback mode, the display shows the album cover, if it was registered in the tags, information about the artist, album name and song is displayed, indicating the total duration of the song. The player is controlled using the navigation key, which also changes the sound volume.

The shuffle and repeat mode works for both one song and all. If you minimize the player, information about the music being played may be displayed on the desktop. The 10-scale volume control is more than enough even for a noisy environment like the subway. The built-in equalizer offers a set of ready-made presets, as well as manual settings.

The phone can be considered as a replacement for the player, the sound is good. It is inconvenient that when the keyboard is locked, the music control button does not work, and the volume keys are inactive. This model is very good as a player, so it can be considered as an inexpensive alternative to a separate device.

Radio

Stereo FM radio operates in the range 87.5-108 MHz/76-90 MHz. RDS is supported, up to 20 stations can be stored in the phone's memory. They can be saved using automatic search and enter them manually. By minimizing the application, you can see the name of the station you are listening to on the desktop. There is an FM transmitter for broadcasting music from your phone to an external source. Also, the buyer should like the option that allows you to listen to the radio without headphones connected, using the built-in antenna.

Photo album

Photos taken with the built-in camera are included in own section. "My Photos" will show a set of 4x3 preview pictures showing pictures stored in the phone. You can arrange a slideshow by choosing one of the three options transition between pictures and setting the display time in the range from 3 to 10 seconds.

When you click on it, it will open in full screen, after which you can view the picture in more detail using scaling, using a pair of virtual keys. The photo can also be sent via MMS, e-mail, Bluetooth.

"Timeline" shows the frames stored in the phone's memory, sorting them by date. By selecting a specific day, you can see a set of pictures, then they can be enlarged to full screen. It differs from “my photos” only in the selection criterion: not all photos are displayed mixed up, but sorted by date, which can facilitate the search desired file.

Video

The phone supports playback of clips in MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, 3GP. The video library is a list of files, by selecting one, it can be viewed both in the vertical position of the phone and in the horizontal one. Given the small screen size, it is unlikely that the model will be actively used to watch videos.

Organizer

Calendar

You can choose a default view: a view of the month or day, set the day the week starts, and you can also set the automatic deletion of records after a certain period of time (after 1 day, a week a month), if necessary.

New events are created in 6 types, these are: reminder, meeting, call, birthday, anniversary, note. The place, date and time of start and end are set, repetition is set for every day, week, month or year, you can turn on the notification signal and set the time for its operation. There is a search among the records, which helps to find the desired date or event.

Alarm

Days of operation are set, a signal is set. It can be either a pre-installed melody or a composition that has been independently loaded into the phone's memory. You can also select the radio sound as the signal. The repeat period is set. There is only one alarm clock, you cannot create several different ones.

There is a stopwatch and a timer.

The function of displaying time in different time zones allows you to display information on the phone's screen at the same time for four different cities.

The phone is equipped with applications for communication in in social networks- Twitter and Facebook. You can read the message feed, write a new one, or view the replies.

The calculator will help you perform a variety of arithmetic operations.

The unit converter will help in various situations.

What if you combine the Android operating system with Microsoft services? A year ago, such a combination seemed impossible, and now we see the second generation of phones based on the Nokia X Platform. She is actually operating. Android system, but with Nokia's proprietary graphical shell, devoid of Google services, including Google Play. But the ability to install a huge number of Android applications remains, and their range compares favorably with that of Windows phone. In addition new smartphone compares favorably with the device of the "first wave" as an updated OS, and a more powerful hardware base. Whether these innovations are worth attention, we will find out in this review.

Delivery and equipment

The box in which the smartphone is delivered is small in size, which has already become familiar to Nokia. It is made of thick cardboard, so you don't have to worry about the safety of the contents. Bright and high-quality printing attracts the eye. On one side, only an artistic photo of the device is applied, while the reverse part is more informative.

Here you can see the name of the novelty, the equipment (in pictograms), four possible body colors and the main technical characteristics.

Sliding box design: the inside slides out to the side, after which we gain access to the contents. In the package, we found AC-20 charger, Nokia stereo headset WH-108, user manual and warranty card. The presence of a modest headset upset us less than the absence USB cable↔ micro-USB, which will have to be purchased separately.

Appearance, design and arrangement of elements

The design of Nokia X2 Dual SIM is familiar and recognizable by all buyers who have seen at least once smartphones of the series Nokia Lumia. Minimalist rectangular shapes and vibrant body colors − distinctive features these devices, and the novelty is no exception. Evil tongues may call the chosen color scheme "childish", but it certainly cannot be called dull. In this case, three color options are possible: black, bright orange and light green.

Taking the Nokia X2 Dual SIM in your hands, you can feel its angularity: the side edges have become much less rounded, and the roundness on the back cover has completely disappeared.

The novelty looks advantageous in comparison with other glossy devices due to its two-layer coating. The lower layer of ordinary colored plastic is covered with an outer layer of transparent polycarbonate. This "sandwich" gives the case a depth effect and protects the colored part from scratches, which usually appear very quickly on a glossy painted finish.

The back panel is made in one piece with the sidewalls. Instructions for removing it are on the label. To dismantle the back cover, you need to press on the protruding corners from the front side. There were no difficulties with the removal, while in the assembled state we did not find any backlashes or gaps: the lid sits like a glove. At the first meeting, it may even seem that it is not removable.

Under the removable panel, we found two Micro-SIM slots, a removable battery (Nokia BV-5S, 1800 mAh) and a card slot microSD memory.

The Nokia X2 Dual SIM screen has an oleophobic (grease-repellent) and protective layer, as well as a ClearBlack anti-reflective coating. Thanks to them, fingerprints are easily erased (alas, they appear easily), and extraneous light sources are less distracting when working with the screen.

The speaker hole above the display tends to accumulate dust. Under the screen are the touch keys "Back" and "Home". The appearance of the latter was provided in latest version Nokia X Platform. It allows you to immediately return to main screen without pressing "Back" several times. Dispatcher running applications launched by long pressing the "Back" button. It allows you to close or switch to the application of interest by scrolling through their list sideways.

As for the location of other key elements, then on top panel There is a micro-USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack for connecting headphones. And on the right side, the volume rocker and the lock / off button are conveniently located.

Summing up our impressions of the construction, the Nokia X2 Dual SIM has a very rigid body with well-fitted parts. When twisting, the geometry of the smartphone does not change and nothing bends. When pressure is applied to the glass, no colored streaks appear on the screen.

The screen does not break records in terms of pixel density: with a diagonal of 4.3 inches, the resolution is “classic” 800 x 480 pixels, which gives us a density of 217 ppi. Here you can poke your finger at the Nokia XL Dual SIM smartphone, which, with a similar resolution, had a diagonal even higher - 5 inches, and the density was only 187 ppi. In both cases, the performance is not a record and individual pixels can be seen without much eye strain. In the OS interface, low resolution is not as noticeable as when viewing user-generated content.

But the Nokia X2 Dual SIM screen has and strengths. These include quality IPS matrix, correct color reproduction (there is a shift of the color field to yellow and purple shades, but weak) and the absence of an air gap between protective glass and a matrix (OGS technology), which improves image perception. The brightness is sufficient (there is auto-adjustment), the contrast is good and the viewing angles are quite wide.

The touch layer handles up to five simultaneous clicks. It has good sensitivity, but in the cold season, gloves still have to be removed. You can unlock your smartphone by double tapping on the screen.

Sound

The Nokia X2 Dual SIM model uses only one multimedia speaker, which is located at the bottom of the back side, so the sound can be muffled if the novelty is placed on soft surfaces with the screen up. The sound itself is loud enough. However, it almost completely lacks low frequencies, and the lower range of medium frequencies is poorly represented. Pleased only with the quality and detail of high frequencies. In general, the multimedia speaker will be enough for undemanding users to watch videos and play games.

Left a good impression speaker: It provides high quality speech with good detail. And yes, there is volume.

Nokia X2 Dual SIM has front-camera with a resolution of 0.3 megapixels and rear 5 megapixels. The main camera uses a ¼-inch sensor and f/2.7 aperture optics. There is also auto focus, 4x digital zoom and LED flash.

The main camera takes pictures good quality in favorable conditions. It is difficult to get an acceptable result in poor lighting, but it is possible to use a flash in which the white balance is still quite accurate. However, in daylight, using the flash adds warmer tones to the frame. Detailing is generally high, corresponding to a resolution of 5 megapixels, but the dynamic range is small, so some of the frames are overexposed. The quality of video shooting for a smartphone in 2014 is completely unimpressive. Setting the maximum settings and resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) does not improve the situation. The quality of the sound recording corresponds to the resulting video sequence.

An example of video shooting from a Nokia X2 Dual SIM smartphone in good lighting conditions in an open area

The front camera with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels is not suitable for artistic shooting, but with its own basic functions copes. The mere fact of its existence pleases.

The camera app itself has rather modest functionality. It has useful shooting modes (Auto, Night, Sports) but no sensitivity settings or HDR mode.

Software

Nokia X Platform 2.0 OS is the highlight of the Nokia X2 Dual SIM smartphone. In fact, it is an OS Google Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but Google services were replaced by Microsoft services, and the graphical shell copies the familiar tiled interface and methods as much as possible Windows controls Phone 8. There are still a small number of available applications in the official Nokia Store. But they can be installed manually: according to Nokia experts, about 75% of all android apps will work properly on these smartphones without any modifications. In addition, there are alternative app stores, such as Yandex.Store.

The downside can be complete absence services and Google Apps. It's not just about the Google Play store or navigation: even transferring contacts from account Gmail is not provided (contacts are entered manually).

I was pleased with Nokia HERE Maps navigation: it is convenient both to download maps to the device and to use them. Maps are detailed, so grieve the absence Google Maps won't have to.

If there are controversial points in the functionality of the shell, then the speed of its operation does not raise questions: there are no jerks and freezes, the animation is smooth and the reaction to user actions is fast.

Performance

The computational capabilities of the novelty are assigned to the dual-core Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 200 (MSM8210) with integrated graphics core Adreno 302. It is based on 28nm process technology (ARM Cortex-A7 design) and runs at 1.2GHz. The good news was the increase in the amount of RAM, which is now 1 GB. This value corresponds to a mid-range device, and it is quite enough for the Nokia X2 Dual SIM to work.

The amount of ROM is 4 GB. It can be expanded with a microSD memory card up to 32 GB and store files on a free remote cloud storage 7 GB.

Unfortunately, the novelty has retained the disadvantage inherent in Nokia XL Dual SIM: the inability to install applications on removable media. They are installed only in internal memory phone, which is allocated only 1.95 GB for the needs of the user. This is more than its predecessor, but does not fundamentally change the situation. Such limitations prevent us from calling the Nokia X2 Dual SIM an excellent inexpensive gaming smartphone.

The performance of the novelty has grown due to the use of a more productive processor and an increase in the amount of RAM, but the novelty is not very suitable for serious gaming applications. Note that the response rate to user actions in the OS and regular applications is quite high and does not cause any irritation.

Communication and communications

As we mentioned above, the Nokia X2 Dual SIM has two slots for installing Micro-SIM SIM cards, which can be accessed only after removing the back cover. At the same time, installing SIM1 is possible only after removing the battery, but changing the card in the SIM2 slot is much easier.

The novelty uses only one radio module, that is, the smartphone operates in the “Dual Standby SIM” mode. This means that both cards are available in standby mode, but making a call with one of them automatically disables access to the second one. After the call ends, both cards will be available again.

For high-speed data transfer, the tested model has 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 modules. Working with wireless networks is flawless: the connection is established quickly and keeps well.

The navigation module supports GPS, GLONASS and Beidou positioning systems. Going out into the open, we were able to catch more than 20 satellites and establish a connection to at least half of them. The connection process was fast: according to our measurements, no more than 10 seconds.

Offline work

The Nokia X2 Dual SIM is not burdened by an excessive number of cores and many gigabytes of RAM, coupled with a voracious large screen, so the Nokia BV-5S battery does its job well. With daily (by our standards) load, a 1800 mAh battery provides up to two days of work.

Test results: watching HD-video at half brightness of the display and enabled Wi-Fi and GPS modules - a little more than 6.5 hours (6:45); simulation of game load using the Epic Citadel application (“Guided Tour” mode) with maximum display brightness and enabled Wi-Fi and GPS modules - 3.5 hours. The estimated run time according to the GFXBench benchmark was 260 minutes.

Charging the battery with the included AC-20 3.75 W (5 V at 0.75 A) adapter takes approximately 2.5 hours.

Results

Summing up, I would like to abandon the stamps, but still say that the epithets "fashionable" and "youth" are quite applicable to. The company has worked on the bugs, increasing the performance of the smartphone, finalizing the OS and controls, while maintaining a striking design.

However, some important, in our opinion, shortcomings still remain. For example, the impossibility of installing applications on a memory card, which can repel fans of playing “weighty” toys from the novelty: two modern blockbusters will easily eat everything free place on the internal storage. There is also a problem with the relatively small number of additional applications in the official store, but this is more a question for software developers.

On the whole Nokia phone X2 Dual SIM turned out to be successful for its money. We had no complaints about the build quality of the case and the rigidity of the structure, the color reproduction of the IPS screen, the quality of voice transmission, the operation of wireless interfaces and navigation, the speed of drawing the interface and launching applications. There are questions about the camera, especially in terms of video shooting, but this quality is enough for everyday use.

As a result, Nokia X2 Dual SIM has become a strong mid-ranger, almost getting rid of the "childhood diseases" of the first version of Nokia X Platform. It can be recommended for purchase to unpretentious buyers who need a pretty and moderately productive smartphone for every day, or to those who like to “work with a file”, who will have a lot of room for creativity and personalization.

Advantages:

  • pleasant and stylish appearance;
  • high build quality;

Nokia of the Android X line is evolving - the X2 model has become even more similar to Windows Phone than its predecessor, the X model. But at the same time, it has become closer to Android - now there are two buttons under the screen - "back" and "home", and not strange lonely "back" as before. Let's evaluate how the Finnish manufacturer is trying to attract those who dream of "Android with an interface like Windows Phone"!

Nokia X2 Dual SIM:: Overview:: Design and features

X2 is another “phone in a box”, its back cover is combined with the side walls, forming a “box” in which the device itself is placed and snapped into place. This system has been used by a Finnish manufacturer for more than a year, and has been polished to perfection - a smartphone in this design is durable, monolithic, does not make squeaks, and at the same time it is quite easy to remove to change a SIM card, memory or battery - without broken nails and various kinds of applications auxiliary gizmos, as it once was. The "box" of X-Second is made of two layers - colored plastic is covered with a transparent layer. It turns out a stylish "floating" effect, a la amber, looks interesting, coupled with bright colors - acid green, orange and yellow. Classic black and white is also available in color scheme, but they do not look so extravagant.

The X2 is an inexpensive model, so during its development no special efforts were made to make the body thinner and the bezels around the display narrower ... The bezels are clearly too big - especially at the bottom, where the buttons are located under the screen. By the way, there are now two buttons, and not one, as on the previous Nokia X (there was only a “back” button in the form of a checkmark lying on its side). In X2, the “home” button familiar on any smartphone, leading to the main screen, was added to it. The buttons are touch sensitive, but unfortunately not backlit.

Otherwise, the device is quite traditional - the volume and power buttons are located on the right side, the headphone and microUSB jacks are on the top, the left and bottom are empty.

The rear panel has a large hole for the camera (like solid camera phones!), LED flash and a speaker slot. Interestingly, the speaker slot does not have pimples-“legs” that create a gap when the phone is lying on a smooth surface (so that the sound does not shut up), but there is no need for them - even on the table with the display up, the call sounds loudly!

Removing the filling from the case - a training sticker is pasted on the back cover:

Lid - "box"

The insides of the device:

The glossy plastic is beautiful, and in bright colors it doesn't tend to pick up fingerprints (cool!), but it's slippery. Taking a smartphone off the table with dry fingers can sometimes be difficult - it strives to slip out!

Nokia X2 Dual SIM:: Overview:: Display

The Nokia X2 screen is not bad, but you should not expect miracles - it corresponds to the moderate price of a budget gadget. If someone in 2014 forgot what an individual pixel looks like - welcome, you can see it! :) In X2, the dots that make up the image are clearly visible to the naked eye, because they are large and their number is small. 480x800 pixels on a large 4.3-inch screen is only 217 pixels per inch (PPI), which is really not enough in today's times.

At the same time, the small pixel quality is harmoniously compensated by the excellent brightness and richness of the IPS-matrix with wide viewing angles, which works in conjunction with Nokia's proprietary ClearBlack technology - the polarizing layer provides high-quality (though not Amoled, of course!) Black color and removes glare, and the ClearBlack software part controls the contrast based on the light sensor signal. Unlocking the X2 display is carried out not only after pressing the Power button, but also by the proprietary Nokia double-tapping on the screen.

Nokia X2 Dual SIM:: Overview:: Operating system

The line of "hybrid" smartphones "X" is still not too well known, and most of the non-tech-savvy acquaintances whom I interviewed could not clearly explain the essence of the Nokia X operating system, its interface and application ecosystem offhand ...

Therefore, we explain what will have to be explained, I think, in more than one review - Nokia X is a cunning "curtsy" towards supporters of Android smartphones, the compromise that the consortium of Nokia and Microsoft decided to "move over" without changing the fundamental positions of the line Lumia and Windows systems phone. Actually, "xOS" is a proprietary Nokian trick that allows you to bite off a piece of the "worldwide android pie", while ... distancing yourself from it and "saving face". It seems to be Android, but it seems not ... This move is a double-edged sword, because until now most people believe that today "there is no Android on Nokis - there is Windows Phone and some other operating system of its own." Who is right and to what extent?

First you need to understand the main thing - the appearance and interface of any operating system is not a dogma. On top of the operating system, you can install the so-called "shells", which can radically change the appearance and even usage algorithms. There are many shells that are being written - with their help it is easy to make iPhone from an android smartphone (only visually, of course!), Or from Linux - Windows (again, only in the sense of the interface, not the essence!). The same is done in Nokia X-series smartphones. The system properties say "Platform version - Nokia X software platform 2.0", but in fact it is a shell based on Android 4.3. That's just visually, it very closely copies the interface "Metro", which is typical of Windows Phone.

The main internal difference is the absence of all the proprietary services of Google, Microsoft's ideological rival. Maps, mail, Google social network projects, built-in Google search everywhere, etc. - this is not. At the same time, there are no significant inconveniences - the Google page easily opens in the browser, clients of any social networks are downloaded from the App Store, instead of online Google maps, hundreds of times cooler Nokia maps that work without the Internet are built in, etc.

Nokia X2 Dual SIM:: Overview:: App Store

X2 does not have a Google Play store, but it is, in essence, a “game of formalities”. PlayMarket has not been the only source of software for android smartphones for a long time, applications have long spread through many "dealers", in terms of trade. Nokia X has just “Shop” (Nokia’s own application bank, with programs selected by the manufacturer), “Yandex.Store”, where there are hundreds of thousands of them, and you can also install other alternative stores! Almost any application available in PlayMarket can be obtained on Nokia X (with rare exceptions). And what is traditionally free will remain free, regardless of the source of download. The only inconvenience is that in order to find one or another not very common program, you will have to rummage through two or three or four stores, and not in one, as in the case of PlayMarket in ordinary android smartphones. However, when it comes to the most popular programs– social network clients, games, browsers, players, file managers etc. then they are on the front pages in ANY markets - both in regular, and in "Yandex", and in others.

Both the regular Store and Yandex.Store have dozens of different Twitter clients. But only in Yandex.Store there is an original Twitter client not from third-party developers, but from the microblogging network itself - it is not available in the Nokia store:

However, it is impossible not to admit that with fairly well-filled application stores, there are still fewer programs in the Nokia and Yandex stores than in Google Play! And the situation in which your friend/colleague with an ordinary Android smartphone will launch some kind of application or game, and you simply won’t find it in any of the markets with Nokia X2, is quite real.

Nokia X2 Dual SIM:: Overview:: Interface and menu

The first Nokia model from the X-series was only remotely similar to Windows Phone, and it was impossible to call it particularly convenient. All applications are on the main screen, a single “back” button, etc. X2 really practically copies Windows interface Phone - it consists of three working screens, which are changed by horizontal scrolling.

In the center is the main main screen, on which tile icons of the applications you use most often are placed. They can be placed there convenient order, group into folders, change the size and color of icons.

To the left of the main one is the secondary screen "Recent", which displays everything that happens with the phone - messages about missed calls and received SMS and letters appear on it, about installing new applications and updates, etc.

To the right of the main one is the screen where ALL installed applications, endless sausage, no grouping - only in alphabetical order. From this screen, applications can be launched, removed from the phone, or added to the home screen.

Three working screens together:

For "X", like for any "android", by moving your finger across the screen from top to bottom, a panel of quick adjustments is called up - wireless networks, brightness, etc. The latest notifications are also displayed there, as on the Recent screen.

Pressing and holding the back button brings up a list of recently launched applications, from where they can be called up again or forced to close.

Applications installed by default out of the box. There are not so many of them, and there are no unusual or cool paid ones among them. But due to the "windowsphone" location in an endless sausage, to view them you need to scroll the screen a dozen times, which creates the illusion of a huge number of them...

Nokia X2 Dual SIM:: Overview:: Main functions

Call service. Dual SIM functionality is implemented traditionally for most modern smartphones. You can see contacts from both SIM cards, you can bind certain contacts to a specific number, when you call, the device prompts you to select the necessary SIM card.

Mail. Universal mail client- There is no Gmail client, like other Google services, in Nokia X2.

File manager. There is no staff manager - the well-known Astro is preinstalled as it - in free version with advertising. You can install any other.

Music and radio. Three applications - music player, FM radio and MixRadio. With the first two, everything is clear, but with the third ... everything is also clear, but only for those who know about this branded Nokia application. MixRadio is a music store that is interesting in that, in addition to buying albums and songs for cash, it allows you to download collections of themed mixes for free via Wi-Fi or 3G and listen to them offline at any time.

Gallery. The Gallery app is responsible for photos and videos. Everything is in order with the photo, but the video is so-so ... Support for the mass of popular container formats is declared - AVI, Matroska, MP4, etc., but there is no real omnivorousness. MKV starts, but it slows down terribly, other videos play sound, but no video, or vice versa ... As with many androids, you will need to install a bunch of different players from the Markets, and experiment with them ...

Browser. Not too comfortable. The page can be displayed in both portrait and landscape orientations, but at the same time, if you call up all open pages from landscape orientation, the screen is forcibly rotated to portrait ... It suggests installing Opera.

Navigation HERE. The famous Nokia navigation. Classic and flawless! There are no complaints here - maps of all countries of the world, car and pedestrian voice navigation, a lot of different services and goodies.

Nokia X2 Dual SIM:: Overview:: Camera

Nokia X2 is not a camera phone. His camera is designed only for light shooting conditions, it works slowly, it makes a terrible noise at dusk. There is no dedicated shutter button. In general, for decent photography you need something more solid ...

But the camera interface is nowhere simpler! In the basic version, it does not confuse the user with unnecessary settings - there are only TWO icons on the screen - a shutter button and a button that changes the flash mode.

If you touch the arrow that hides everything else, then the mode switch opens (“auto”, “night” and “sport”), change cameras and the gear icon leading to the settings, which, in general, are also few.

Nokia X2 Dual SIM:: Overview:: Performance and Nutrition

The Nokia X2 processor is a typical budget "stone" - 2-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 (MSM8210) 1200 MHz, Adreno 302 video core. (True, AnTuTu Benchmark defines it as MSM8610 and Adreno 305)

The same AnTuTu characterizes the hardware of the smartphone as rather weak:

However, what do you want for this money?! The device is positioned as affordable - it is naive to demand records from it. At the same time, the interface really flies, no complaints. Most application applications run quickly and smoothly.

The gadget is powered by a modest battery with a capacity of 1800 mAh. This is not enough - the younger model Nokia X had a 1500 mAh battery, and worked on it for one day - in this case, there are fears that history will repeat itself, and the positive difference between the battery capacity will be absorbed by the positive difference in the diagonal of the screens ...

Let's conduct a simple and visual test, which I traditionally use to assess battery efficiency - charge the battery to 100%, reboot the device to clear the memory of clogging programs, turn off all wireless interfaces, except cellular communication, set the screen brightness and volume to maximum. We launch a movie in AVI format, lasting 1 hour 23 minutes and weighing 1.45 GB. After the movie ends, we look at the remaining battery charge.

The prediction almost came true. Nokia X in a similar experiment retained 60% of the battery charge, which is very small, X2 - 64%, which is a little more. Today, even budget devices after such a test remain with 70-75% of energy, and flagships with their powerful batteries and a bunch of energy-saving technologies and save 80-85% at all! Alas, in terms of longevity, the device is a one-day device.

Nokia X2 Dual SIM:: Overview:: Impressions and conclusions

At a cost of 6,000 rubles, Nokia X2 dual sim looks quite competitive in comparison with budget "androids" of other leading brands. Of the physical advantages - a strong construct, a catchy unusual look in the "acid" versions, a bright and juicy display, loud noise, two sim cards. The X2 is based on an inexpensive dual-core chip, but with a gigabyte of RAM, the gadget is peppy and nimble, although it is not intended for flagship games. Of the software, HERE free navigation traditionally pleases, the interface is original, but very easy to learn. Among the shortcomings are the practically absent built-in memory (with the indicated 4 GB, in reality it is less than two), a rather weak camera, a case that is large for a 4.3-inch display (it would be nice to make it either smaller, or fit 4 in it with the same dimensions, 7 inch screen).
